Nice, how can we still encourage Arts and social science at a primary level?
By making sciences more effective. If as a farmer science and tech helps me triple my output that increases supply and drives down prices and when that happens, the nation is better fed and people can always think about patronizing artists for leisure and business scientists like business administrators and accountant will have a thriving business to run and thus jobs for them.
Same logic applies to health. Science make people more healthy and then they can be in a position to patronize artist.

the pure sciences are key because they address human needs and not just human wants. Transport, communication, health, food, shelter, education and the most pressing needs of man are directly science driven.
Education › Re: .... by CodeTemplar: 10:20pm On Feb 13, 2019
Art and Social sciences aren't going totally extinct as suggested but will always take the back seat because they don't address the most pressing human needs that sciences tend to target directly.
You need a bunch of farmers / agriculturists to produce food and create business activities before engaging accountants to keep record of their establishment expenses and income.

This bitter but true fact was highlighted in America during the great depression, the money system failed and then it became clear who was king? The accountants and corporate guys or the country side farmers? Some country side farmers would take their excess corn and use it as fuel to cook for themselves while the corporate suit and tie guys like accountants from towns were starving to death and begging to do menial jobs for even milk or corn. Sciences are built more closely around pressing human needs than arts and social sciences and that explains why in biting economic times or atmosphere, arts and business science minds always appear to be going extinct.
Give folks enough food and they will start patronizing artists and business scientists again.

Dear Nairalanders,if you were given the opportunity to delete one thing from our world today, what would it be and why .

Mine will be religion, religion has done more harm than good in our world today .especially Muslims killings and bombing, Christianity brainwashing their gullible followers and taking the little money they have from them .

So what about you guys, what would yours be ?
If Christianity is truly taking money from poor to make them poorer why aren't Christians the poorer of the three major religion? In Nigeria for example, non-christian areas lead in poverty.

To me, ignorance will be a better thing to take away from the world.

PDP messed up but the greatest form of shackle is religious shackle that disconnects one from the maker and I can't support anyone who tries to treat the other religion as inferior nationally.

Plus Buhari's and APC's score card is so identical to that of the opposition.

When last did Tinubu cry about PiGB on his newspaper? What has happened to the momentum Adesina racked up in Agriculture? What has Buhari done to strengthen the system? After chasing few opposition members for few years what happens to anti - corruption battle?

Look Buhari has failed and the idea of a corrupt PDP makes little or no sense given the calibre of minds sorrounding Buhari himself.

Education › Re: 10 Facts About The Arab Enslavement Of Black People Not Taught In Schools by CodeTemplar: 2:06pm On Feb 13, 2019
3. Its important to note that Arab is not a racial classification; an Arab is almost like an American in that people classified as Arab today could be Caucasian (white people), Asiatic or even Arabized Africans. In the beginning there was some level of mutual respect between the Blacks and the more lighter-skinned Arabs. However, as Islam and the demand for enslaved Blacks grew, so did racism toward Africans.
As casual association with Black skin and slave began to be established, racist attitudes towards Blacks began to manifest in Arabic language and literature. The word for slave — abid — became a colloquialism for African. Other words, such as
haratin , express social inferiority of Africans.

4. The eastern Arab slave trade dealt primarily with African women, maintaining a ratio of two women for each man. These women and young girls were used by Arabs and other Asians as concubines and menials.
A Muslim slaveholder was entitled by law to the sexual enjoyment of his slave women. Filling the harems of wealthy Arabs, African women bore them a host of children.
This abuse of African women would continue for nearly 1,200 years.

5. Trade
The Arab slave trade in the 19th century was economically tied to the European trade of Africans. New opportunities of exploitation were provided by the transatlantic slave trade and this sent Arab slavers into overdrive.
The Portuguese (on the Swahili coast) profited directly and were responsible for a boom in the Arab trade. Meanwhile on the West African coast, the Portuguese found Muslim merchants entrenched along the African coast as far as the Bight of Benin. These European enslavers found they could make considerable amounts of gold transporting enslaved Africans from one trading post to another, along the Atlantic coast.

6. The Arab Slave Trade Sparked One of The Largest Slave Rebellions in History
The Zanj Rebellion took place near the city of Basra, located in present-day southern Iraq, over a period of fifteen years (A.D. 869–883). The insurrection is believed to have involved enslaved Africans (Zanj) who had originally been captured from the African Great Lakes region and areas further south in East Africa.
Basran landowners had brought several thousand East African Zanj people into southern Iraq to drain the salt marshes in the east. The landowners forced the Zanj, who generally spoke no Arabic, into heavy slave labor and provided them with only minimal subsistence. The harsh treatment sparked an uprising that grew to involve over 500,000 enslaved and free men who were imported from across the Muslim empire.

PDP campaign rallies have not witnessed any ill-fated event except the fainting spells by nine fellas in Kano ystdy. But as for the APC, it have unfortunately been harvest of deaths. So Nigerians vote out this satanic government

Christianity Etc › Re: How Can We End Jihad (Islamic Killings) ? by CodeTemplar: 5:00pm On Feb 12, 2019
Thinking about Islamic killings tagged "Jihad", how can a man who wasn't born perfect kill another man because of his perceived imperfections?
It means the killer puts himself in the place of God by implicitly claiming knowledge of the victim's future or parades himself as a witch who knows the future. Either way he is condemned to death by the same Quran they claim to base their actions upon. it is the height of contradictory doctrine, ... but what do I know ?

Most Muslims do not sanction or commit violence and are in fact victims of this same violence you keep talking about. The problem with ill informed people like yourself is that they blame the actions of a substantial few on the majority in a religion where 90% do not partake in any violence and are indeed desperate to escape the mayhem.
A man with no opportunity to do evil calls himself an honest man until the day he has opportunity.
Christianity Etc › Re: Can Islam Ever Be Peaceful? 6 Year Old Boy Beheaded by CodeTemplar: 6:14pm On Feb 11, 2019
cleanvessel:
When senseless killings happened, Muslims are apt to say the people involved are not true Muslims. They forget what Muhammad himself did in his lifetime.

Islamic apologists also always claim it is ignorant Muslims that kill in the name of Allah. Are Muslims in Saudi Arabic, where they kill a 6-year old boy ignorant Muslims? Are the Saudi authorities, who failed to respond also ignorant Muslims?

Instead of defending Islam over wickedness, I think what they should do is to face the reality that Islam is not from the true God and embrace Jesus Christ.
Good points.
I once reasoned:
When Muslims go on killing spree in the name of jihad, wouldnt it amount to witchcraft for someone to kill another who is yet to accept his own belief when he himself wasn't born a Muslim or perfect Muslim?
How is the killer sure the person he is about to kill won't come to the knowledge of the 'truth' before he dies. Instead of leaving him/her alone to gain conviction why kill that person when you can't lay claim to knowing his/her future?
