I find it incredibly worrisome when people assume the activities of the early church must validate those of today's Christians. But no, it is the Holy spirit that validates the church not the early church. The early church had its own success, travails, mistakes and all. In the book of revelation Jesus passed different reviews on the early church. Some positive some negative.
In the end your concern is not the early church but if you are doing what God asked you to do per time.

The difference is clear to those who are not biased. I asked a simple question which you want to run around on - Did they use church contributons for personal universities then make the tuition fee unaffordable for most of them? Since the two brothers have become the christian blue print no longer christ and the apostles or missionaries just after them . Go and check what those did with church contributions and receive sense.
Let me address some other ignorant aspect of your post again.
Did apostles in book of Acts receive any vision from God about establishment of a university, a live transmission system to stations around the world, a 50,000-seat church? So if I go by your fo.olish argument, a person like Oyedepo for example who received vision of the above before satellite TV or internet became affordable should discard the vision since apostles in bible didn't receive such visions. Aren't Havard and the Methodist pastors also apostles sent to the people in their own time?

Don't let the blind hate for some men of God or the love of freebies darken your brain so much sir.

I have addressed that question many times before and won't do that directly again. At first I didn't want to reply you to avoid derailing the thread as I can see you are quoting the whole text needlessly.
First, you claimed it was a personal private university which isn't true.
It belongs to the church - a body sustained by belief in God and acceptance of the pastor as Gods sent messenger. So if you are saying it is personal university then you are implicitly saying the pastors in charge aren't God sent. That will be an infringement on the rights of those who accept and believe in the vision of the church.

second, please outline your own strategy for making such a university affordable to all the contributors or show every reading Nairaland any school being run successfully like that. I request this of you because I can't seem to figure out how a church will receive contribution of as low as N100 and turn it into #600k - #800k of fees.

Thirdly, please you outline how the church can maintain the set school standard when they charge lower fees? I asked this because you want all to be able to afford the school and that means charging low enough for all to afford it?

fourth, please how low should this fee be? I asked because public uni charging as low as #10k still experience people dropping out of school due to inability to pay those fee.

I won't bother answering your questions for now because they are based on a false assumption that the private schools are personal properties.

So so true.
I was going through some Harvard materials some days back and realized their endowment fund is so key to their funding model. They breakdown the endowment fund into so many areas that it will be hard for any willing giver not to find one that appeals to or suites his/her philosophy as a person.
There is a section for research, scholarships, academic activities, industry, structures, we of age and so much more. Over 50 different giving section and you find people willing their estates to Harvard both when alive and in preparation for when they finally "lie in the dust".

There is a lot of lessons we can learn from them and I applaud Oyedepo for being one of the first ( if not the first ) to follow this great and time-tested model.

Not so fast, Muttley...

Two things here:
1) When you hear the word "whatsoever", what springs to your mind?
2) Muttley, I'm already disoriented from this rollercoaster of scripture washing and distortion you're subjecting me to here. The passage clearly said "whatsoever comes forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD'S AND I will offer it up as a burnt offering.". So, pray tell, where are you getting this "If it happens to be an animal..." bit? This statement or anything at all that looks like it cannot be found in the verse. Lol @ this devious insertion of yours. Come to think of it, aren't you even committing a sin here, Muttley?
Revelation 22: 18-19
Anyways, back to the topic. Muttley, let me tell you something...

It’s clear as a sunny day, Jephthah made a barbecue from his daughter, his only child.

Look very well at what the text says:

Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah ... And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering. So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.... And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child.... And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back. And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth.... And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed.
- Judges 11:29-40

He sacrificed her, Muttley. He cut her throat, like a sheep, and burned her body as an offering to Yahweh.
By "bewailing her virginity," what is meant is that she is to mourn the fact that she will never bear children, never fulfilling the one purpose that women in that society had; the one thing a woman had which was seen to have any value (non-virgins were treated as damaged goods because a man couldn't be absolutely certain that any baby she had was his unless he knew she hadn't slept with anyone else).
Understand, human sacrifice was not forbidden. Sacrifice to other gods was forbidden. Yahweh didn't find favor with Abraham because he didn't sacrifice his son — he found favor with Abraham because Abraham proved he was going to do it (see Genesis 22:1–19).
We see this in multiple places throughout the Old Testament:

a) In the Ten Commandments in Exodus 34 (the actual Ten Commandments which were written on the stone tablets and described as such in the Bible — the ones that talk about not offering yeast with a blood sacrifice or boiling baby goats in their mothers' milk — not the spoken commands issued at the base of Mount Sinai in Exodus 20 that we are more familiar with), God instructs that firstborn sons belong to him, along with the firstborn of one's livestock. We see this also in Exodus 22:29–30.
b) Samuel hacks King Agag of Amalek to pieces before the Lord in 1 Samuel 15. King Saul lost favor in the eyes of Yahweh because, when ordered by Yahweh (through Samuel) to kill the Amalekites - every man, woman, and child, and all the livestock - while Saul did kill the Amalekites, down to the last child, he initially spared their king and kept some of the Amalekites' animals alive to be sacrificed at the temple instead of killing them all on the spot.
c) In 1 Kings chapter 13, 2 Kings chapter 23, and 2 Chronicles chapter 34, it is documented that King Josiah "did what was right in the eyes of the Lord" by smashing idols and graven images to other gods and burning their priests on their own altars
d) In 2 Samuel 21, God is appeased to end a famine when David has two of Saul's sons and five of his grandsons killed.
e) In Numbers 31, Yahweh orders Moses to order the slaughter of the Midianites. All of the men are killed, and Moses is angered to learn that women and young children were kept alive and orders them killed as well — except for virgin girls who are to be divided among the army as war spoils (sex slaves). Beginning in verse 25, Yahweh tells Moses how to divide the spoils, including the girls, who are listed alongside livestock to be distributed. A portion of each type of livestock is to be set aside to be sacrificed to Yahweh, including 32 of the surviving girls, as "heave offerings."

Even passages explicitly condemning human sacrifice (such as Leviticus 18:21 and 20:2) do so in the context of describing those sacrifices being made to other gods (usually Molech). Other members of the Canaanite pantheon, such as Baal and Chemosh, make appearances throughout the Old Testament — each of the nations had a national deity, with Chemosh being the god of the Moabites (for example) and Yahweh being the god of the Israelites, and depending on the fortunes of war between these nations one could begin to see the others' god as being more powerful. The Bible describes a battle where the Israelites are forced to retreat because the Moabite king sacrifices his son to Chemosh and gets a supernatural boost as a result (2 Kings 3:26–27).

Human sacrifice was common throughout the region, and women were regarded as cattle. It was a savage, barbaric time, Muttley.

I know this comment isn't addressed to me but is to CodeTemplar, still it is necessary that I share that God having foreknowledge, which essentially, is what predetermination means, doesn't in anyway affect your choices and/or freewill. What will happen, will happen as God permits it to happen. There are rules your freewill is subjected to, there are principles, your freewill respects and would not violate, if it does violate any, then undoubtedly face up to the consequence(s)

Sometimes it gets tiring when one becomes sounding like a broken record JujuSugar. I shouted from the rooftops, I have swung from tall chimneys, I have bleated my face blue, that your question is a non issue question. Jephthah did not barbecue or roast his daughter. There wasn't any plan to offer a burnt human sacrifice to God. Accusing me of dishonesty or saying I haven't a clue what I am talking about, is just a figment of your imagination and evidence of the world of fantasy you live in.

Please watch my mouth and read my lips. There was no incident of burnt human being offering sacrificed to God by Jephthah

I have read all your warped and misunderstood predestination and freewill malarkey. I know about all the gaping holes in them and that is why I have asked you those four deliberate questions, that you stylishly have directly and outrightly avoided answering
That guy is more concerned about justifying his no-God-exists stance and will twist even English to suite it. He confuses predestination with foreknowledge and starts blaming God for all his own flaws and actions.

LMAO. Sure thing. Keep wrestling with yourself in the mud over there grin
I've asked you to demonstrate how predestination and free will can co-exist, so until you do so..... you really can't talk.
Predestination simply means God predestined you for something, usually a career and that is different from God knowing what you will eventually become. He knows your outcome and did predestinated you but your free will stands between you fulfilling that purpose or not.
He gave us the choice to choose between life and death, remember that? It means you were designed for something and you are admonished to find out that thing and answer God's calling on your life.
Predestination isn't exactly foreknowledge.

Right on the money

Wake up and smell the coffee, sir. There's no denial here. This is what it all boils down to:
If YHWH is an omnipotent, omniscient being, then it simply means that he created the universe such that he has already predetermined all events. Denying this would mean that God lacked these attributes at the conception of the universe. Given that diseases, natural disasters, suffering and pain all exist in our universe, we have two options:
a) YHWH is malevolent
b) YHWH doesn't exist
Take your pick
You sound like an examiner with that last line but I assure you, you need to be examined well. Even when you decided what to type, God is still at fault? And in addition to that you had to believe God exist in other to infer that He doesn't exist?
Confusion is a subconscious thing so I won't blame you much.

Anyway I think the design revolves around transfer of money into a non-debitable account or safe. It should give option for automatic or preprogrammed periodic
deductions and manual transfer as the spirit leadeth. It should be able to interface with popular banks for easier transfer of funds. It should be able to accept multi-currency.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did The God Tell Abraham To Sacrifice His Child by CodeTemplar: 4:58pm On Feb 01, 2019
JujuSugar:
Permit me to start afresh...

The Christian YHWH is claimed to be the creator of everything and to have the attribute of omniscience. In defining omniscience, I posit that the attribute of omniscience should first and foremost be applied to the internal cognition of this Deity; then omniscience can be defined as: the Deity has, at a minimum, true or perfect knowledge of the results or actualizations of all cognition's by the Deity. That is, the Deity knows, to a level of complete certainty, any event whatsoever, the actual actualization that results from purposeful cognition by the Deity.

The combination of omniscience and the purposeful cognition of the creation of everything (as The Creator Deity) results in a wholly hard deterministic universe, or total and full predestination; free will is an illusion and all of existence (sans the Deity - the issue how this Deity came to exist is outside this discussion area) is a script to be played out without variation.

Even the Bible supports the position of hard determination: God's Will is inviolable, God is the alpha and omega, is sovereign and in control, the alpha and omega, not a sparrow falls to the ground apart from God's will, etc.

Predestination cannot exist with free will
You succeeded in speaking many English but will this hard determination also include the things you are typing about God here? If yes, then it means you can't afford to type a contradicting message on your phone this moment because, to you, either God hard coded/predestinated it or God knew it before you typed it and God who knew what you were going to say and in fact type next, is responsible because he knew what you were going to say.
You are denying your own free will and blaming God for it. If Satan hadn't rebelled against God I am sure he would have claimed he isn't capable of rebelling against God.

So if I go outside and decide to steal a phone right now, God is to blame? Your reasoning is so so flawed.

The idea of an omniscient, omniscient being contradicts the idea of free will. If God knows perfectly all future events, then all future events have already happened, therefore existence would ultimately be pointless and unimaginably drab. God is the author of the book and we're just characters in it. Every choice you make has already been written. He knows the end from th beginning Denying this would be denying God's omni qualities.
If God doesn't give men the chance to act out their hearts, man will claim they are not capable of doing such since it never happened. It is like a poor man hoping to hammer or hit big so he can date one of the 'big' girls in town. if he gets the money he plans to date the girl and will, God already knows but is hesitant in blessing that man financially. The man goes to God and accuses God of starving him before men and finally God tests him by giving him his wish of money and boom! ... He goes to sin by dating that girl.
Finally he has followed his heart and somebody somewhere hurt by the act, may a wife to the man, starts saying God is wicked or bad for allowing his husband to cheat. Is God really wicked? Never. His anger is there, agreed but God isn't a bully.

The man had his will power all along. Remember Adam named all the animals in the garden and whatever name he gave them God agreed to it.

Man has a free will and God won't stifle it just to force us into heaven, instead he has prepared his word to feed our spirit and help strengthen our mind, soul, and spirit.

Don't you see the problem here? How can a loving God know that someone would commit a crime, but let him go ahead even when the said crime will endanger both him and his victims?
The fact that God knows the future and still leaves room for good and bad things to happen isn't a fault of God. I have will power and can go out to slap any innocent bystander. Will I now sit and say God is wicked or bad for making it possible for the act to go ahead ? That won't make sense because I had enough will power and a conscience to guide me to decide against slapping an innocent man.

If you are asking God to take away our will do act creatively and destructively entirely, then you are asking God to turn the human race into a computer simulation.
In Eden, Adam ate the tree of knowledge of good and bad. That tells us there was a preceding factor in the case of Jephthah. Stop blaming God for all your woes and start looking more at yourself.
