Car TalkRe: Pls Help, My Mazda With Electrical Problem by collinsfbi(op): 9:05am On Oct 05, 2012
Ikenna351: How are we sure that they haven't bypassed so many Electrical connections, while trying to detect the non starting issue?

You said the ignition has been tested and came out ok. How come you are not getting sparks then on the spark plugs ? What exactly did they test and called ignition ?

Your car issue sounds like a CKP (Crankshaft Position Sensor) issue. It would give such symptoms when failed. CKP is one of the Ignition system components.

There are other ignition components that will give non starting issues when thet fail. Such as Ignition module, ignition relays, etc.
ECU should be the last thing to suspect. You only go to ECU when other components that would give such symptoms have checked out ok.

Since you may not be able to manually troubleshoot the car yourself (elimination method ), I would advise you scan the Lagos. Scanning the car in Lagos shouldn't be an issue. Good luck .

Ikenna
Thanks for your comment, the picture below shows the ignition that was tested ok but right now am i bit confused, i will appreciate if you or anybody can suggest someone who can help me to fix this problem.

Car TalkPls Help, My Mazda With Electrical Problem by collinsfbi(op): 7:42pm On Oct 04, 2012
Pls I will appreciate anyone who can give me the contact of any good car re-wire (popularly called in naija). Three weeks ago I was driving along lagos- abeokuta expressway, very close to ifo and my car suddenly went off, all efforts to start the car ever since prove abort. I was told it was an electrical fault and the brainbox is faulty, I bought another brainbox yet to no avail. I have to tow the car from ifo back to lagos. Presently the car is in my mech workshop at iyana paja, I told my mech to help me get a very good rewire to work on it but the guy is trying to dupe me. So far so good, I have spent over 60k and the problem has not been detected. From what I know, the car is not shocking (meaning it does supply current to the plugs. We have tested the ignition and it's ok. I told my mech to help me call people who will diagnose the car with computer to detect the fault and I gave him money only to be told that they couldn't still get the fault and that is where I realise the useless guy is trying to dupe me. Pls I will appreciate help from any good source.

It depends on your course of study and where you want to reside in SA. For instance if you are planning Pretoria most esp UNISA, you can get some short courses with the duration of 6months - 1year around that rate or a bit more depending on your course of study, some with the option of 2 installmental payment.

Since you are new I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ SA, hire a car to take you from jo'burg to sun city, it's about 150km from jo'burg and it takes maximum of 3hrs drive depending on the traffic within Jo'burg. When you arrive, you can ask about sun city hotel or cabanas hotel. Have A̶̲̥̅ nice trip.

pappy2000: The next question is that do I choose this private institution and do the study permit from South Africa or do I do the it through the visitor visa routine, secondly how long does it take to process study permit if I want to do it in south Africa and do you have any reputable immigration practioner. Thanks you have been more than a brother, secondly where do I do get cheap accommodation. Please put safety in mind.
You can choose any institution of your choice as long as you meet the school requirements. As for permit, it will βє̲̣̥ easier applying in SA because you will need to evaluate your result from (SAQA) and SAQA evaluation is one of the requirements for study permit. As for the duration of permit i cannot ascertain but if you apply with complete docs, i am sure you will get it ± 5 weeks at worst.

pappy2000: I want to get to school there and see if when i get the permit i can travel to other places and have atravel history. If $350 will be good i dont mind staying for a year and see how things go.thanks for your understanding.I need to move on change enviroment and see what happens in other climes and see if i can get business opportunities in south Africa, that is my thinking, but if i stay in Nigeria I think i might not get the best in terms of exposure.
If you are really going for study, you will enjoy SA with your study permit because it's easy to secure visa from SA to any part of the world as long as you reside legally and financially buoyant. $350/per month will be ok for you if you don't live big and if you share apartment with somebody.

What is your purpose of going to SA? Are you planning to go there, sleep and wake up everyday without doing anything and pay rent and bill all in the name -am tired of naija. How long do you plan to stay in SA? You will enjoy SA if you are lucky to get a job (no guarantee) or if you have enough cash to waste.

Pelumiv: Thanks Mr Collins. Assuming you were given a work permit but doesn't have a stable job within d five yrs allotted to qualify 4 PR, is there a chance of apply 4 d PR n be granted?
Either you have a stable job or not, you must be a holder of work permit for 5years before you can apply for PR, and you must have a permanent employment offer and be of good character. Mind you, it will be hard to fake employment offer/job experience within SA (as some naija now secure work permit through "legal practitioners" popularly known as agent without working) because you will go through series of interview and you must be able to defend your work permit and your years of experience.

Pelumiv: How long does it take to get PR in SA?
I don't know what exactly you are looking for but the processing of securing Permanent Residence Permit in SA take up to 2years to 30months and there are things you are required to possess before you can apply for PR in SA. There are two immigration categories under which you can apply for PR in SA
Direct Residence, you can apply for PR directly if you are foreigner who have been on work permit for 5years and who have received a permanent offer of employment. In general, if you meet all the requirements, your spouse and children under 21 years of age automatically qualify for same PR.
Residence on other grounds includes foreigners who posses extraordinary skills or qualifications, those who intend to set up business in SA, refugees (under certain conditions), relatives of SA citizen (spouse applying for PR must be in relationship or married for 5years before being eligible though they can apply for temporary residence permit before the 5years. Please note that if you have been in a relationship for 4 years and then get married, the 5 years start from the beginning. that is a big flaw in Home Affairs' interpretation).

Manager007: smileyPappy2000,

Since you have made up your mind about relocating, i cannot but wish you all the best in your endeavour.

For starters, you need to consider your accomodation options. Accomodation is very expensive in this country. Depending on where you want to live, i wont go into details anymore as i have discussed that in prior conversations/post. in some cases, that entire N600knaira with you is what you will spend on accomodation in one year for one room here in SA. So do not be fooled into thinking N600k naira will sustain you in SA. Revisit Collinsfbi's quotation.

You need to set aside some amount to procure a permit as per your circumstance, and the amount varies. You will figure that out when you get here.

Jobs are not a guarantee anywhere in the world, but everybody's fate differs, who knows, you may succeed where others fear to thread.
Anything is possible with God on your side.

Only one warning i must give to you, as i would tell my own brother, DO NOT PUT HOPE OR RELY ON ANY NIGERIAN FRIEND, BROTHER ETC HELPING YOU OUT ENTIRELY" This is because, they also may be struggling. Just find one sweet southie babe who dey find husband, who go house or feed you..[

I wish you all the best.

In the words of the great leader, CollinsFBI "Gbam, over and out"!

b]Pappy2000,
I think you have killed it all, kudos bro, in addition to your comment/reply to his comment, there is no absolute security anywhere in the world only in God you can find protection. Once you don't indulge in any criminal activities and you don't keep bad company and obey SA laws, believe me, you don't seems to have problem. Mind you, where you reside also matters, as far as am concerned, you can try Capetown, Port Elizabeth or some part of pretoria like Centurion, Capital park and some other places within Pretoria north or west. Best of luck bro.

pappy2000: Thanks for taking time out to respond to my post, may the good Lord bless you.Firstly,I want to say that there is no harm in trying and the fact is that a lot of people here will discourage you from travelling,If you Malaysia they will tell you its no go area,if you say uk they wil tell you you will suffer there,if you say cairo they will tell you its for women.Sir,the chinnese have a better economy than ours yet a lot of them come here and they took the risk so I believe its worth trying.I don’t have high hopes in fact I believe I cant make break through within the first 2 years of my arrival if I stay and anywhere I go even if its Botswana I still believe I am going to face initial hurdles and I also know my nationality counts against me like you have said inyour previous post but one thing is sure if one can preserve those initial challenges then I believe one can make it there.the problem I have with Nigeria is that I no longer believe in the Nigerian Project, here if you are truthful you will be punished so that is my bone of contention and I am tired of bad news daily. You wrote in one of your previous post that one can get a quickie job like security in some places,I am not looking for a job really becos I have some little investment I can fall back on in Nigeria in terms of monthly property rent which might not be enough so I believe if I can use that and get a dirty job and seek new frointers then I believe that on the long run things might be better,I have my strategy which I believe will work but I need your support and the support I need is that I want to be adequately informed about the challenges that I will face. You have told me about the fact that my Nationality will count against me so if I get those unnecessary comments or talk I have already prepare myself for this. In term of other things that I may like face please tell me those pratical things provide I am not going to get shot just becos I am a Nigeria.I want you sir to please tell us the challenges and the possible ways of getting a solution.so please I want you to give us a pratical way of solving the issue that will may likely face,I just hope they are not violent people as in physical attack on me.I want you sir to give us pratical info on shelter, where can I get shelter,Food,Job,education and a whole lot of other things that will help us in pratical terms.Thank you sir,May God bless you,Let us talk about the challenges and the possible solutions so that I can put that into consideration. The only reason I can disembark from this is if you tell me that I will be physically harmed.
If I were you, I will invest that 600k in a business in naija but since your mind is made up, I will advise you to go through the normal tourist visa, but the best you can do upon arrival is to look for a school and apply for any short courses (many short courses @unisa or any other school raging from R5k-R10k/year. Mind you Manager007 is yet to let you know that accommodation is very expensive except you have someone to share rent/utility bills with or else you will not last with your 600k after paying 18k visa fee, 110k repatriation, about 100k ticket (total 238k, balance of 362k less than $2,300). Be ready to do your permit and pay rent and program fee from your balance, all these I can guarantee you but financial continuity/stability is what I cannot guarantee. I can assure you that by the time you pay for your program fee/rent/permit, you will be left with nothing and survival becomes difficult except you have financial back up in naija but if you are relying on getting a job here, my brother you mighty up being frustrated. Think about it again and make your final decision.

TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by collinsfbi(m): 3:01pm On Sep 23, 2012
Manager007: Pappy2000,

firstly, every human being has a right of migration. you are entitled to freedom of movement. Wherever you choose to go is entirely up to you provided you do so properly and seek adequate knowledge about the country you are migrating to.

Collinsfbi has been very generous by telling you the absolute truth about possible relocation to SA to seek greener pastures. Yes, its true that SA's economy is better than Naija's. its also true that there are so many opportunities here as compared to Nigeria. However, the fact that you are a Nigerian will definitely count against you in this country.(i mentioned this in one of my earlier post). You may even begin to feel this Naija-phobia from the moment you disembark from the plane at OR Thabo airport in Johannesburg from the Immigration official.

The main reason why things may be difficult here for is simply because of your nationality and largely because you are an African Immigrant. SA isn't friendly to immigrants from other parts of Africa, except of course for countries like Botswana, Namibia etc. Nigerians, especially are the most feared of these immigrants laregely because of what some of our brothers who arrived SA so many years ago have laid a bad precedence. When you mention Nigeria, the first thing that comes to mind is Drugs, Fraud,Forgery and all other nefarious activities. It has become common thing to read and watch Nigerians being burst for crimes in newspapers and on tv. Sometime ago, some naija guys were burst by the elite Hawks unit for the "UK lotto scam" where they had taken money from an unsuspecting school principal, but still wanted more and asked her to meet her in a hotel..also, another was shown on tv for doing "wash wash money" and even claiming his father is a minister in Nigeria and taught him the fraud.

You can get SA work permit with or without hassles, but thats the first hurdle. I guarantee you, whenever you apply for jobs (especially blue-collar jobs), you will scrutinized more than the other candidates for being a Nigerian.

All SA can offer you is a relative stable electricty, food (yes, food is cheap), modest living and women. Southie women just love their Nigerian men.. When you arrive, you go see..

Another thing, you should know since you say you wanna use SA to transit to other countries, its no longer so easy, because foreign embassies here have also been hit with forged docs submitted from some scrupulous naija applicants, hence, when you present your naija pali, they will scrutinize all docs you submitted throughly before deciding to issue a visa to u, if they feel you deserve.

Botswana, may be a rich country, but it depends largely on SA economy. lots of Botswana students are sponsored by their government to come study in SA and they all (in most cases) always return home after studies. Even if you have Botswana visa, at the port of entry or border, be ready for thorough questioning from immigration official as to why you are visiting their country. Botswana women are beautiful, and they like naija guys so much, strictly because of our sexual prowess (like they claimed), but be mindful that they also have a high HIV incidence rate as well. one thing is sure, if SA has nothing to offer you, be sure there's nothing happening in Botswana for you. Except studying.

Things can only become slightly simpler if you study and complete a degree in this country. You should be able to get a decent job in that regard. Lots of naija people are employed in good-paying sectors like engineering, medicine, education etc. While, a large majority are engaged in trading or hussling to survive. A trip to Sunnyside in Pretoria will convince you. Or visit Hillbrow in Johannesburg. A lot Nigerians started like you with high hopes of making it in SA upon arrival, only to regret wasting so much money not properly investigating their immigration plans. Boys go tell you here.

With the N600k you have, why not visit and buy things for immediate sale in naija upon your return?

Naija no easy, and alot of things is messed up and i dont blame you for wanting to leave the country. It's not a bad idea actually, but why not visit SA and see things for yourself? You can decide the way forward from there. A lot

But then, the decision rests solely on you.
You have done more than enough for taking your time to write all these, meawhile, no matter the level of your preaching, I don't think you can change his mind. Let him try and see for himself because experience they say is the best teacher.
