TravelFind A Travel Partner / Find A Travel Buddy by collinsfbi(op): 11:56am On Mar 11, 2017
To all moderators, users of travel section most especially to all lonely tourists and students, I find it necessary to open a thread for this purpose because I realized a lot of people are traveling to different destination without knowing anybody, even when you know somebody, they may not have your time but it's a different thing entirely if you find a travel partner who maybe heading towards your destination or who you can plan a trip together. This will help a lot lonely travelers in sharing information about your destination, hotel information, propose site attractions, itinerary and many more.

I will kick off this thread by asking if there is anyone traveling to UK for Easter Holiday, London to be specific. Let's hook up if you are interested, a friend we plan to travel together was denied and I don't feel like traveling alone because the trip was planned purposely because of him. Meanwhile this is not my first time going to the UK and i also have family there but I don't want to stay with anybody this time. If you are traveling to UK (London) in April, let hook up?

TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by collinsfbi(m):
(In November 2015, I applied with my wife and our 10months old baby as family for xmas vacation in New York but we were denied for no reason, so I decided to re-apply again and we went for interview at V.I Lagos on 20th April 2016 and below is the comprehensive interview questions and answers without adding or removing a single word from it.)
Vo: Good morning
Me: Good morning (sfrom the first experience, I was a bit tense and shivering)
VO: All your passports (I handed it over, she glanced through my passport, my wife’s passport and my baby’s pp)
VO: (she turn to my wife) ma place your four fingers on the scanner.
VO: (After she turn to me) please place your four fingers on the scanner
VO: why are you going to the US
Me: we are going for family vacation
VO: where are you going in the US (she was typing)
Me: Tyler in Texas
VO: Do you know anybody in the US
Me: Yes
VO: How related are you? (she paused and look at me)
Me: He is a friend and in-law (she did not even ask his name, where he works or where he stays but I have already fill in his information in DS -160 but the person in question happen to be my in-law, he got married to my cousin and both are living in Tyler, Texas with their baby)
VO: What do you do?
Me: I am a video director and movie producer. I direct music videos, short movies and documentaries
VO: What type of documentaries?
Me: It’s about culture
VO: Have you travelled out of your country before?
Me: Yes
VO: Where?
VO: I have been to South Africa, United Arab Emirate and United Kingdom
VO: In any of these countries did you shoot anything video there?
Me: Yes
VO: Where?
Me: South Africa
VO: What kind of video did you shoot?
Me: Short Movie
VO: What is the title?
Me: “The Memoir”
VO: (she turned to my wife) Ma, have you travelled with your husband before?
My wife: Yes
VO: To which country
My wife: South Africa
VO: What do you do?
My wife: i am a Professional Make-Up Artist
VO: (She turned back to me) When you went to the UK, did you shoot any video?
Me: No
VO: What is your purpose of visit to the UK
Me: Holiday
VO: (she continues typing and after a while she brought a white paper and said) your visa has been approved, go the address in 3 days and pick up your passport.

Note: The only difference from my pass interview and this one is when they asked me what i do. From the interview in November, I said " I owned Lakeside Production where i worked as director, producer and cinematographer and VO never bother to ask me any questions related to my work and she just give me a denial letter." So i think they wanna know more about your job responsibilities and not the company you work with. Thanks

Who has information on how to get BTA/PTA; which banks give?
BTA means Basic Traveling Allowance so you don't need a bank to give you that, it's not loan just money at hand while traveling.

lobola fee is just like dowry usually collected by the family of the lady you intend to marry but it''s usually calculated based of the lady educational background but very very expensive.

The world ucheokpara And paingain I greet you sir. More blessing to your wisdoms, please I want to know if one can be able to travel from south Africa to others countries with south Africa permit , like example of the marriage permit, when one married a south Africa lady can he use such permit to travel from south Africa to other country?? including those countries that is visa free to south Africa. Please I need your Advise and more light on it, Jah bless you guys, for the more effort so far for this thread.
can pay afford to pay *lobola on the person you intend to marry. *lobola fee in most cases is enough for you to do better things is life. Stop dreaming bro, think of what you can do in naija and stop dreaming of coming to SA to cross to another country. Many who have such dreams before now ended up being stranded here. I hardly come here but today you are very lucky to be listening to first class information from a true Nigerian brother.

Last year I made this short movie to tell Nigeria about situation in South Africa. This short movie below is a recount experience of a young Nigerian graduate who sold his farm land, business and left his wife and only daughter with the hope of making a better living abroad (South Africa). His large expectation turned sour and his beautiful dreams about working and living abroad became a nightmare when he couldn't find a better work other than menial jobs while the only hope is to return home and start all over again.

mrking3: Hello guys please I need your candid advice! I have a good friend a coursemate that have been in SA for like two years now. So he promised to help me come over to SA with hope he'll assist me get a work permit once I arrive. So last week he asked how much do I have so he can assist me get SA visa. I told him I aint prepeared now! So after much, I told him I only have 30k at the moment, of which he said he would balance it up with 20k making 50K which is the required money to get the documents and all that by His Agent. So he asked me to scan my Medical certificate, passport photo, Bio data and certificate of Origin and send it to him so he can send it to his Agent. He actually told me that his Agent would have to get Six month bank statement for me, employment letter and all that. So he said after this step, the next would be to get my passport for visa application. He also said he will assist me with BTA so all I need do is just to pay for air ticket. Meanwhile, he works with a car maitenance company in SA and have sent me his Pics over there! And calls me with his SA line. So I honestly want to verify if this guy is real coz its difficult to come accross some nice guys this days! His offer of assistance to me is just too good to be real. So please would want experience travellers to look into this scenerior and make there observation before I take further step! Thanks!
If you like, listen to what these pple are telling you and if you like, don't listen, it's up to but one thing is certain, your money will be wasted and you will end up not getting any permit. I have friends here you refuse to heed to my advice, they are regretting right now. I have even seen some students here who submitted for renewal of their study permit and for over 4 months now they never get their permit renewed not to talk of a visitor coming here to get a permit. Even the popular asylum called (Aduro) is no more easy to get like before. Come to asylum office in Pretoria close the popular marabastard market and see thousands of Naija, congolese and the zimbas sleep ouside their office in freezing cold for weeks in order to get their way in for (aduro). If you want to come to SA, just visit and go back or come with your study permit or work permit from naija else, you will only come here to waste your time and money and metro will make life difficult for you.

Q.1) is it possible to collect ready passport on behalf of another? A friends processed application passport is ready 4 collection frm lagos vfs. She howeva asked me if it is possiblë for any1 to collect d passport on her behalf? I've got no idea on dat buh i promised i'l find out for her.pls inform!
Is not possible except an insider is inolved
Q.2) anoda friend who paid repatriation fee b4 he was granted visa jus returnd frm s.a. He applied thru abuja vfs and he wishes to knw the process of repatriation refund and duration. His visa expires jan 11th 2014 though..is he gonna submit paspot again b4 it cud b paid and wat r d proces? Thx
Your friend cannot start any repatriation refund process except his visa expired. Original repatriation receipt is the only important doc in the process though he may be asked to attach copy of visa and data page but without original repatriation receipt, no repatriation refund and it does not have any specific duration and application for refund is processed directly at the embassy and not application centre

When you asked a question and it was being answered, endeavour to always go back and read before asking further questions. I still remember i personally answered that question on this thread poster by queenesther4 and you guys have a similar case, go back to page 68 for further clarification. Nobody advised you to get medical insurance/aid or whatever. All you need is a medical report of an accompanying applicant detailing his or her health status and you can get this from any Government hospital.

TYPOP: They call to get clarifications. A friend just got her visa but was called before then to get a proper yellow card. She had to go back and forth for 5 days until a proper yellow card was gotten.

Since that is the stated reason, I THINK you can apply again and write a letter of motivation stating what happened in the first instance. If the information you got about the reason is via e-mail or printed, attach it as proof of your claim. Get all documentations right, then re-apply. Now, that's what I THINK. It may not be the only way to go about it.

@Collinsfbi, what do you think?

phone: People enter there on visiting and do their study permit right? Is this achievable.
september14: But people go there on visititng and apply for study permit and get it right? Is this possible?
Very possible but if you are doing that, make sure all your docs are in order before leaving naija and pay your repatriation fee of 110k in naija else you will be liable to pay 7k rand (140k) in SA. But if you will take my advice, i will tell you to get it in naija to avoid additional payment such as paying immigration lawyer to secure such for you most especially if you have incomplete docs.

queenesther4: thanks so much for your response. i still want clarification about children accompanying me and my best option.
1. I have a 2 yrs and 1 yr old who i had to obtain passport for because the new ECOWAS passport does not have space for accompanying children so they have their own passports.

2. i will also be using my husband account with good cash flow for my study permit, is this ok, what are the supporting documents to be attached to the bank statement of his?

PLEASE I NEED YOUR ADVICE ON MY BEST OPTION
THANKS
Sorry for my late response but TYPOP has also done justice to some questions already. first and foremost accompanying visa is granted to accompanies of holders of Permanent and Temporary permit such as resident permit, work permit, study permit etc on different conditions. You fall under the category of study permit and accompanying visa will be granted in the case of applicants with minor. If you have your study permit already, then file an application for your minor with the following documents;

A detail letter of introduction stating you relationship with the accompanies, age and reasons why you can't leave them behind
Copy of the data page of your passport
Copy of your study permit
Birth certificate in the case of minor
Proof of sufficient financial means in your own account
In the case of sojourn not exceeding 12 months, submission of proof of a valid return air ticket.
A marriage certificate in the case of a married applicant.
Proof of relationship as contemplated in regulation 3.
A death certificate in the case of a widowed applicant.
A decree of divorce in the case of a divorced applicant; or
Proof of legal separation in the case of a separated applicant.
Proof of accommodation
Repatriation fee expected to be paid on each accompanying applicant
Police clearance is required if an accompanying is older than 18
Medical report of an accompanying applicant detailing his or her health status
An affidavit, substantially corresponding to Form 12 contained in Annexure A, confirming any spousal relationship of the applicant and the particulars of any children born of such relationship
Letter of Consent / Support from your husband including his statement of account
If a minor child subject to guardianship or custody is accompanying the applicant or joining the applicant in South Africa, then proof of guardianship and custody is required.

hello guys, please i need your sincere advice on the following, after reading through your replies to queenesther4, i decided to seek your opinion on the following;
I recently got an admission for postgraduate study in SA, and i have submitted my application for study permit at the high commission, still awaiting my permit.
However, my wife also got admitted for post graduate studies in SA and we need to apply for her study permit also.
In addition, we have two children, (3yrs and 2yrs ) who would have to go with us, so
1. can we use my account for her application bearing in mind that i just used the same account for my application? how much would be needed in the account for this case scenario?

2. what would be the best option for these children who are not going to start schooling immediately in the republic but have their own passports as required by the new ecowas system?

Or

3. do you think getting a friend in the republic to invite these children (3 and 2 yrs) will be applicable? bearing in mind their ages?

thanks
?pls help oooooooo, still waiting..................
@ herigift It will be easier in your own case if your wife can get her own study permit first then both of you can file your children accompanying visa but you really have to provide substantial and sufficient financial means. Your children will not be granted accompanying visa if you apply with your permit because you are a man and your wife is expected to take custody of the children since she is still alive. Let your wife secure her permit first then any of you or both of you can file for your children with the list of the documents above.

queenesther4: thanks guys for the response.
but i still need to know

1. how much should be in the account for it to be accepted?
2. do i have to fill a separate form for them?
3. i have someone in SA that can invite them, but i am also processing my own study permit, would they go on visitation while i go with study permit
4. do i have to include their names in the accompanying dependant on my own form?

thanks
i will appreciate your prompt response.
TYPOP: Sincerely, I think applying for them as dependants is the right thing to do. Visiting will only give them a few months. Dependants will make them stay with you for the duration of your stay. I will also ask some people and get back to you.

On the amount, it depends on if you have paid your school fees or not. Also, the amount in the account is not as important as the flow of cash in the account for the past 6 months. You may have 300k and be granted cos 6M has moved in the account in the past 6 months. You may also have 1M and not be granted cos that 750m just came in the last few days and you've only moved 25k per month in the past few months. But, generally speaking, if you have an account with more than 1.2M in the account, you should normally be granted. The dependants make the case a bit complicated cos they will expect you to have the cash to take care of the children accurately while you study.

A good advice would have been to apply for yourself first, enter the republic and then process papers for your children. That way, you won't be denied as a result of dependents.

@collinsfbi, good to have you back here. I was happy seeing your reply to Ismail. What do you think about the above please? Especially questions 2, 3 and 4.
Good job TYPOP,

Question 2
@queenesther4, If you mind, i will advise you to get your student permit first before filing application for an accompanying and also to avoid complications in your application. If your accompany is a minor without passport which mean he/she has not started schooling and you can't leave him/her behind, good you can include the accompany birth certificate and other relevant docs without filling separate form otherwise i will advise you to secure your study permit first then file for any accompany. On the other side, separate forms must be completed in respect of persons over the age of 16 and children under the age of 16 traveling on their own passports.

Question 3
If you have someone in SA who can invite your accompanies, good! or secure tourist visa for them in naija, i think that will be better of than complicating your own application. You could be denied because of any irrelevant reasons. I think this will be a better option because even if you still go ahead and secure accompanying visa for your dependants, it will be useless if you intend to enroll them in any South African school because they are also entitled to hold study permit to school in respective of any South African school you may decide to enroll them upon arrival.

Question 4
Any dependant accompanying you must be included in your application and separate forms must be completed in respect of persons over the age of 16 and children under the age of 16 traveling on their own passports while minors without passport do not need a separate form. In doing this, you must include an affidavit, substantially corresponding to Form 12 contained in Annexure A, confirming any spousal relationship of the applicant and the particulars of any children born of such relationship.

Ismail Abdul: Hi everyone, just to contribute to the documentation procedure...u don't need to pay for any hotel reservation for ur documentation, all you need do is visit any travel agency or vega solution which is located on the same building with the SA VFS ... U pay 1k to get a booking done for you which you can cancel the moment u r granted a visa...I did the same for both my flight itinerary n hotel booking(2k) and I was even lucky they didn't ask me for any repatriation fee...

@Collins, pls I need more explanation on this info on my visa, it read thus:
No. Of entries: multiple
Conditions: EACH VISIT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY (30) DAYS.
MUST HOLD ONWARD/RETURN TICKET
thks in advance
The status of your visa is very simple, it simply stated that you have been granted 3 months multiple entry which means you can visit South Africa as many time as possible within that 3 months but conditionally, you must not stay more than 30 days any time you visit South Africa. Hope this help?

Zee07: Hi all. I'm new in here. Tried to follow this thread from the beginning (you know how difficult that can be with 59 pages!) Anyway, kudos to the "SA gurus" here, giving candid advice and apparently making the lives of fellow brothers/sisters better: Respect to collinsfbi and and Manager007
Please forgive me if this issue has been previously discussed/answered.
Is there an age limit on Repatriation fees? What i mean is, for instance, if my wife and 2yrs+ daughter decide to come and join/visit me in SA (I'm not yet in SA though), do I have to 'drop' for the child too? I hope not!
Awaiting your response.
Thanks.
There is nothing like age limited to repatriation fee, once you are not a citizen of South African then you must pay if you are coming to South Africa either for work, study or visit but the funniest thing is that some people are lucky to be granted visa without paying repatriation most especially people who applied for tourist visa.

3rd eye: oh I see...I only paid 18k...I guessed that was d reason why I was denied! I did make a hotel booking but I did not pay. SA embassy told me that I was denied cos of 'invalid hotel booking'. Kindly shed more light to this for me pls..nd what u think I can do next. And what do u mean by d 'letter of invitation from south African host'? Ur prompt response will be hightly appreciated! Cheers!
Your hotel booking must be a paid hotel reservation and hotel contact details must be reachable to SA Embassy in Nigeria for further confirmation. In some cases, applicant maybe be denied even when used a valid/paid hotel reservation if the embassy is unable to ascertain the validity of such reservation probably the hotel numbers are not reachable or the hotel fail to respond to their mail if such confirmation is to be ascertained by e-mail. Letter of invitation on the other hand is used in place of hotel reservation and it must come from a South African citizens or holders of permanent resident permit. Duly certified and accompanying by host copy of passport page, statement of account and copies of other utilities bills. All docs must be duly certified.

The same kind hotel reservation i used in getting my visa that had been rejected in d case of 2 of my friends at different times. Even as at yesterday afta the denial we still checked with the hotel and still very much valid. May i ask how they conduct their own verification that states invalid. This is realy bringdown.
Make sure to use registered hotel and make sure their details such as phone numbers are reachable to SA embassy in Nigeria and it must be a paid reservation.
