Center,Lagos as on 07/12/2012". What does that mean because I didn't get any alert on my phone...

You said that I, the Nigerian citizen can apply for the extension with no problems, will that be the same for my American wife..since you said she will only be stamped for 90 days? Thanks again for your help. If not buying a car in Cape Town, do they have ample taxi's, city busses, etc?

ayostacey: one other thing...if we intend to stay for six months, but they only grant initial visa or stamp for 3 months, would it be risky to have our return ticket showing 6 months departure? in other words, will SA immigration question that?

I am a Nigerian married to an American for several years. We have been living in Nigeria and Ghana for the past three plus years. Soon she is going to file a petition for me to get a Visa for the US so that she can go back home. We know that process will take about a year and she is quite fed up with Nigeria/Ghana...and so am I to be truthful. We have looked into other places that I could go without needing a visa, but those places are almost impossible to get to (barbados, etc). So we are now leaning towards spending the months waiting for our petition/visa to the states to go thru in a more conducive environment. I have read thru almost all the posts here, but they are mostly geared toward schooling/work permits, etc and we are seeking none of those. Just a stay in SA. She does not need a visa to go there, I do. I've never traveled anywhere else, so can you tell me if it will be hard or lengthy to get the Visa...also, ive read the requirements: having 300,000 in my account would be no problem...paying the fees; no problem...having a paid hotel reservation; no problem, etc. They say the visa they grant is for 3 months. So, if we wanted to stay longer...is it hard to get an extension? Would we be able to extend for another 3 months? Also, we want to secure an apartment once we get there. We would be able to pay the 6 months in advanced. Will landlords accept this from foreigners or do they like to rent to locals who are locally employed? We are thinking that Cape Town would prob be the best area to stay, but we wont have a car. Is it hard to get around without one? thanks for any input!!

STENACO: It is close to three months I submitted for my study permit but I have not heard from the embassy. Whenever we go to check for it they say it is not fully processed. Does it take this time? I am getting tired of the whole delay although I am meant to travel by December ending. What do I do because their numbers are not going instead.

Yea, we are saying the same thing..When you go for submission you will have to present the original of the vaccination card and the receipt..Once you submit your other document,the yellow card and the receipt will be given to you.You are to submit the photocopy but they will like to see the original first

Horladortune: I submitted a medical visa application last month on the 23rd of November , I never see anything now I just recieved that it has been dispatched to South African high commission for processing.... This is my first time is it always like this my brodaz in the building?

Another information.They have increased the number of persons they attend to daily from 100 to 120 persons because of the nations cup.Please take note

And forthose of you going to submit your application,please,please and please try to get there before 7am in order for you to be among the 120 persons needed for that day.if you go there by 9am you will see crowd there and you will be told to come back the next day.

hardbody: Bros, you guys baffle me a lot. Must everything be traced to witches and wizards in the family? The truth is, the OP is not connected and secondly there are many qualified people going after too few jobs. If you have contacts, just let him know, do not ascribe lack of job or slow progress in life to haters at home. It may be possible that this could be the case, but it does not always answer all the questions as to why one is not making steady progress in life.

@OP, do not taint your hands and enslave your spirit by going into drugs or anything negative. Search for jobs online (including NAIRALAND) and post your CV to Jobberman (Google that). I have held down a few jobs, and still on one currently, i did not get any of them by knowing anybody, i just applied myself and guess what, i will never claim to be a saint. God will answer you in his own due time.

Robertomatteo: I have always heard that succeeding in Nigeria without going into crime is very hard but I have always waved it aside when I see young men and women at the top of their fields doing great. I have always wished that one day I could be like one of these people.

Now, I graduated since 2010 and have served but till now am yet to get any reasonable Job. I stay in Abuja and have submitted applications to virtually every thinkable corner but regrettably, I have only been called up by people offering only blue collar appointments. Places that do not have any means of impacting on your life career wise. Currently, I am working with a guy dealing in phone accessories just to get money for daily meals. Why I am so frustrated is that I am the first in a family of 9 and with my graduation, my parents thought I would be of help to the family soon after school but alas, their dreams don't look like coming to pass. Now, I am being tempted to join a drug trafficking circle. I know all the inherent risk in this type of business but what other choice do I have? I was thinking all through the night and I just thought of coming here to see if I can get alternative help.

Like I said, I stay in Abuja. I am looking for a Job that can pay me N50,000 for a start at least. I don't mind what the Job entails, heck it doesn't even have to be the usual white collar job. Any role that can give me a steady income with room for expansion and advancement in the future.
Please nairalanders, I believe someone on this site can be used by God to turn things around for me. I don't want to go into January next year with this uncertainty hanging around my neck.

And yes, feel free to insult me for indulging in self-pity.
