What Okorocha does not seem to know is that APC is what it is because it fielded Buhari. It was the act of fielding Buhari as its flagbearer that delivered the Northern votes needed to defeat GEJ.

Is anybody fooling themselves that if a Southerner such Tinubu had been fielded, APC would have gotten the Northern votes?

So come 2023, APC will have to field a Southerner since it cant carry on forever fielding Northern candidates. When APC does this, it will lose Northern support.

Rochas is banking on the sentiment that APC will decide to field an Igbo candidate in 2023. But their is no guarantee of this, infact, I forsee a situation where either Tinubu or Osibanjo is fielded. That might leave Okorochas ambition dead in the water for another 16 years

ENUGU—Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, yesterday boycotted a reconcilatory meeting moderated by the embattled National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, for different factions of the party in Anambra state.

Other stakeholders of the PDP in Anambra state that conspicuously stayed away from the meeting held in Enugu were, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu, Senator Stella Oduah representing Anambra north senatorial district, other PDP members of the National Assembly from the state, among others.

A prominent leader of the party in the state, Chief Chris Uba was however present at the meeting with a factional chairman of the party in the state, Ejike Oguebego.

Also present at the parley were the Deputy Governors of Enugu and Ebonyi states, respectively.

Announcing the resolution of the meeting, Sheriff said a reconciliation committee to unite factions of the party will be set up when he gets to Abuja.

He stated that Enugu was the best choice for the meeting to ensure that peace reigns in Anambra PDP.

Sheriff said their target was to win the coming governorship election in Anambra state by November this year.

“Why we are here is to make sure that everything would be normal and we will win all the positions in Anambra’s next election”, said Sheriff,” he said.

He promised that those elected during the party primary elections at the grassroots would be recognised as the candidates, pointing out that his administration will not change any body elected at the grassroots.

“It is true that the problem is the Wadada Plaza and I am promising you that my administration will not allow such to happen. Candidates elected at the grassroots would be recognised at the National level”, he said.

Deputy Governor Enugu State, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo lauded Anambra PDP for coming together under one umbrella of the great party “PDP” and urged them to win all the major position in the next election.

The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, on Saturday received as gifts two tortoises said to be 117 years old.

The Oba received the tortoises when he visited traditional rulers in the Edo North senatorial district.

He was received at the palace of the Otaru of Auchi, His Royal Highness, Aliyu Momoh, Ikelebe III, in the Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.

During the visit, Oba Ewuare II called on traditional rulers in Edo State to promote measures aimed at conserving the environment and encouraging forest regeneration.

He urged the traditional rulers in the area to support his initiative on youth empowerment and job creation.

He stressed the need to key into the agricultural policies of the state government, by making land available to investors and encouraging the youths to embrace agriculture to boost food production.

Oba Ewuare II said, “The state government is partnering investors to provide incentives for investors to boost agriculture and create employment.


“Encourage your youths to take advantage of this initiative.

“We are taking steps to restore sanity to our villages and towns by stamping out activities of community development associations. Their activities have been criminalised. Support this crusade and stamp them out of your domains.”

Oba Ewuare II, who said Edo North would continue to be blessed with good weather, expressed optimism that the people would be rewarded with good harvest this year.

In his remark, the Otaru of Auchi pledged the support of other traditional rulers in Edo North for the Benin monarch.

He also urged the Oba to lead the advocacy for the roles of traditional rulers to be captured or specified in the country’s constitution.

This is huge lie. I have stayed in three SW states and I have been to four,and I would confidently tell you that the region is the most accommodating. My first experience was in Ife. I lived a house with just the landlord and his family. Being the odd one out and not being Yoruba, I never recalled a day I felt left out.

Most of the people saying otherwise have either not left their region before or have chosen to have their minds closed even before moving to either of the states. Besides, majority of Igbos scattered all over Nigerian find solace in the South West than other regions.

If the Ife vs Hausa saga would be the yardstick then I would say this is hypocritical. Had Yorubas been killed, Some Igbos on here would call them perpetual slaves and now that it is the other way around, the South West is not peaceful. Funny.
