The inability of petroleum marketers to pay or service banks loans in the last two years is threatening further importation and could worsen the financial position of banks. The marketers under the aegis of the Independent Petroleum Products Importers (IPPIs) said in a communiqué yesterday that members owe some banks as much as N305 billion ($1 billion) which has increased to N465 billion due to accumulated interest. They cited government’s discontinuation of the fuel subsidy regime and failure to pay outstanding arrears before the new pricing regime as reasons for their problems. Already funding for fuel imports is affected and this could create product scarcity and raise pump prices. The scarcity of kerosene worsened yesterday in Lagos, Calabar, Kano and Kaduna states as a litre of the product sold for N400. culled fom Guardian |

The spokesperson of the PDP in Edo, Chris Nehikhare, has alleged that the APC had plans to sabotage the court process of verification of ballot papers used in the September 28, governorship election in Edo State. He told Channels Television in Benin City, the state’s capital, that the APC wanted to Burn the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) along with the ballot papers. “In a place where APC scored 450 votes, when you get to the ballot box you discover about 200 ballot papers. It was this discovery that made the APC threaten to burn down the INEC office,” Culled from ChannelsTv |

LeadersNG gathered that Ameachi and Dakuku Peterside, Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and defeated APC candidate for the Rivers State gubernatorial elections in 2015, have successfully convinced President Muhammadu Buhari that it will be foolhardy to wait until the expiration of Wike’s tenure in 2019 before he faces justice for his crimes, particularly with the possibility of him being re-elected. The duo have convinced President Buhari that the declaration of a state of emergency, in a manner similar to President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2004 and 2006 during which he removed Governors and appointed administrators to manage Plateau and Ekiti States, would remove Wike’s immunity and enable the police try him for these crimes. Our sources say the duo and other senior members of the party believe that Wike’s removal from office under this guise would also give APC the opportunity to win elections in the state without Wike’s interference. culled from Leaders.ng |
investigations reveal that a part of this plot may already be in its implementation phase with the institution of a panel of inquiry by the Nigerian Police Force to examine reports that the Governor of the State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, was behind the cycle of violence that marred the recently concluded rerun elections in the state. According to our sources, a preliminary report indicting Wike on allegations of bribing and threatening to kill staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been handed to the panel. The preliminary report also indicts Wike on allegations of inciting violence, murder, illegal possession and distribution of fire arms and sundry other allegations. |

Bola Ahmend made the greatest political mistake by slaugthering ACN on the altar of CPC, the meger to form APC eventually killed ACN but empowered CPC more. If ACN has gone into coalition, many member of Senate and house of assembly from SW would be of ACN, then Buhar will have no option than to negotiate instaed of threating Tinubu with Fashola/Fayemi. but the way it is now, the ACN grroup within APC have been caged along with their leader |

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Friday said it would conclude the two outstanding state assembly rerun elections in Rivers state in 2017. The Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who disclosed this at the opening of a two-day workshop organised by the commission for journalists in Abuja, said there were 70 incidences of deliberate obstruction of the election process in Rivers state. He said that the commission has documented all the cases and is reviewing them for possible prosecution in line with its guidelines. INEC had last weekend moved to conclude all the 22 rerun elections in the state, but was forced to cancel the exercise in two constituencies in Etche. culled from punch |
