kayperry: which fake live exactly ?? is it the 24hrs light
Was there a time minimum wage was standard or over
were Nigerians getting optimal health service from govt hospital at lower price or cheap
The cars and houses Nigerians built was it subsidized by govt abi naa govt drop 50% of the funds
My community bought our transformer, i did my gutter, we graded my street contributing, every house in my area fixed there borehole, we provide n pay vigilante every month
Thats the story of an average Nigerian whats the fake life, All my life i cant point one thing govt did for me, even if there is a Fake life naa masses live am or polithiefians
You can't find what government did for you abi? Let me count them for you.
1. Petrol subsidized from when you were born till 2024. 2. Diesel subsidized from when you were born till like 10 years ago. 3. Kerosene subsidized from when you were born till like 10 years ago. 4. Electricity subsidized from when you were born till 2024 (if you are on Band A). If not on Band A, then still subsidized. 5. Education subsidized from date you were born till now 6. Your lifestyle subsidized till you were born till now, because the FG and States do not collect commensurate taxes like other countries, so your parents benefited and if you are working you are also benefiting. Theis abroad you want to be like, go and see what they pay as VAT, Property taxes, Insurance, Personal income tax and more.
All these subsidies wouldn't even be a problem if it was costing us 20% of government revenue, but when you are borrowing for all these DOES IT MAKE SENSE!!!!
if YOUR BROTHER IS BORROWING TO SEND HIS KIDS TO A FANCY PRIVATE SCHOOL, ISN'T THAT FAKE LIFE!!!!!??
He should go and sit down!!! What are the PDP NASS members doing? IF he loves democracy, he shouldn't have been PDP candidate in the 2023 elections, when the party's own constitution had zoned it to South.
omoredia: A lawless leader will have problems enforcing the law
Honestly, I wonder why enforcing the law is a big deal. Have constant surveillance every day with daily siezures and crushing of bikes. Only a fool will keep buying new bike, only for it to be seized within a month.
The okada's come back because they expect the initial gr a gra of government in enforcing to die down.
As a government, you have to show them you are crazier than them.
Is there any country in the world that sells unsubsidized petrol at the equivalent of N600 per liter?
Leave folks to be hoping against hope. Better face their reality and make adjustments necessary to survive at this times. I know it isn't easy, but its true we have all been living fake lives for too long.
sirblend: How is electricity supply far better? When power generation has never exceeded 6000MW?
It's high time we drop this APC/PDP/ Labour party mentality.
You are the shallow one here! I made a simple statement on electricity supply....how you have equated that to partisan politics beats me!
TCN recently activated a 75MVA Transformer at the transmission station near my house in Lekki and the light has been more of less 24 hours since late December. Since Dec 20, not sure light has gone more than 5 hours combined.
igala1: In as much as I'm not speaking for Tinubu's administration, it's the easiest thing to walk up to the DISCOs to know how conditions for the migration. Obviously, areas that have up-to 80% prepaid meters would be migrated to band A. Areas with 60% prepaid meter would likely me migrated to band B.
That isn't even the basis. The band is based on how many hours of electricity you receive
Jokerman: Can you name one thing Nigerians are benefitting from this government?
Something tangible and what's is down to the local level?
Some other governments Nigerians enjoyed free education, reduced cost of petrol, cheap commodities in the market, etc??
So who can point out one thing Nigerians are benefitting from BAT government
You enjoyed subsidized petrol for over 40 years You still enjoy dirt cheap education You still enjoy subsidized electricity if you are NOT on Band A You enjoyed subsidized dollar for decades
Ojuntana: First of all, it is deeply concerning the change in rhetoric that occurs when the teeth of otherwise intelligent and resourceful professional are set on corn. The kind of gibberish that starts to flow is a sign that the corn being offered on a platter is indeed of the fermented stock. It intoxicates the gobbler with a resultant effect that's comparable with that of the famed 40 year whiskey.
That said, I find it insulting to Nigerians and their hardwork and intelligence when people make this silly narratives of fake life or window-dressed realities. This is more so when the people who make these kind of condescending statements are those who have benefited maximally from the society and have not ploughed back what can be said to be commensurate with what they've accrued for themselves from the proverbial cake.
Imagine a situation where a man who after enjoying the benefits of the high office of governor, and while leaving office makes a law that enables him to continue to enjoy the perks of that same office perpetually as if he were still an occupant.
Not only that, choice properties are allocated to him by him. He then turns around to accuse others of living a fake life.
Ditto this particular case as well. A man who was called to rewrite tax laws which will ensure more money goes to the political elites to fund their excesses and lifestyle both in and out of office turns round to accuse others of window dressing their realities.
I make bold to say Nigerians are among the most deprived yet hopeful and hardworking on the surface of the earth.
The average Nigerian has no social infrastructure or welfare system to fall back on in time of crisis save for a strong family structure.
The average Nigerian farmer works with the least of tools. Yet he's been asked to produce crops to feed the populace and export as well.
The average mechanic works with the basic of tools. Yet he's expected to drive innovation in technology.
Same for the average carpenter bricklayer, tailor etc. No program to empower such hardworking Nigerians exist.
Rather, they are dumped on the lowest rung of the ladder and left alone to climb or drown while getting talked down on if they ask for a reprieve.
The UK spends 25% of its budget on social welfare and infrastructure. In countries like Saudi which are oil producing like Nigeria, home ownership is a right.
Shall we speak of countries like Norway where unemployment benefits sometimes exceed employment income for the citizens.
Nigerian leaders and elites are among the most corrupt and wasteful in the world. Yet, they hardly take responsibility for how the country has turned out on their watch. They are a bunch of greedy taskmasters who believe in being unquestionable and unquestioned.
One day na one day sha
Still doesn't change the fact that he's right?
Maybe our reality now will make Nigerians come out to protest the many excesses you mention. More Nigerians came out to protest Mohbads death than will come out to protest corruption and incompetence by all arms of government. Thats tells your our priorities as a people.
Godjone: You said refinery will start working and when that is achieved, the price of PMS will drop significantly. Today, two of the refinery are already active but the prices keep souring higher. Their next skit is to divert attention to how crude please price have increased in the international market yet we are a country that have crude and by virtue of the two activated refineries, international prices should not affect us. The man tinubu and his gangs of tribalists have come to kill Nigeria and Nigerians . Very very insensitive animals
Price kept soaring higher.....but when the price came down to N935 n ko
Nazgul: No company in Nigeria can pay you such amount monthly unless your business is recording a tremendous amount of success or you're earning in USD.
That's the only way you can hit the 1m mark monthly.
Dey dia. A Manager and above in the top banks should be earning more than N1mln a month.
Truly the FCT and state governments should go after the high and mighty for ground rent and property taxes.
The folks in Ikoyi, Shoreline estate, Banana island, Victoria Island, Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Parkview estate will not pay property taxes and the tax officials will be afraid to go after them because they are big boys with connections, but they will be harassing ordinary people in Yaba, Anthony, Surulere etc
Blazebond: When same prices are reduced,it takes about 5-10 days for the marketers to bring it down,we Nigerians are not ready for the fncking truth sha, until we declare total war by ourselves on corruption and corrupt person's,we are not going anywhere.
SalamRushdie: Till fuel prices drop to 420 naira litre the Nigerian economy can never grow , this week alone I have spentbover 200k on just Petro for private use , I never add the one of office ooo...it's not sustainable, cheaper energy is a must to grow an economy
Shouldn't you innovate and find a better way to do business without having to move around so much?
nairalanda1: A really heartless government would have kept fuel at 65 naira per liter.
By now we would have been spending 900 to 1000 naira per liter in subsides, or somewhere around 100 billion naira a day in subsides
Which amounts to 36 trillion naira annually by now.
What was our budget for this year again?
And the resulting hole would be filled by loans.
The resuliting economic chaos would make today's hardship look like fun and good times.
Greedy and self centered Nigerians wont mind FG taking loans if it gave them their N65 per litre petrol.
The other scenario would be what would happen if foreign countries, banks and multilateral agencies like IMF refused to give us loan again, because we were clearly going broke and would be unable to pay
The damage that would cause to this country and its economy would be 100times what we are going through now.
So better to arrange ourselves now and go through this shege, than go through a bigger shege down the road aka Zimbabwe and Venezuela!!
Frezhkid10: Bus is always cheaper than rail public transport..but faster!!..so depends on you if you want cheap use bus, you want to arrive at your destination early not minding the cost..use rail
Public transportation is less crowded during the day anywhere in the world compared to rush hour. The peak periods will clearly be 6am to 8am and 4pm to 6pm as people go to and fro work.
When the Blue line reaches Okokomaiko, it will have more general usage at all times of the day and when it integrates with Red line, even more so
Topman7: Federal Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, was not a happy man.
He visited one of his numerous federal road projects and was dissatisfied with the quality and pace of work.
So he did what few, if any ministers had done before him.
He physically entered the road being built to show the foreign contractors the RIGHT WAY to build it, threatening that if they fail to follow his exact instructions henceforth, he would cancel their contract immediately and kick them out of the country.
This is the new Nigeria we want to see, and this is the new Nigeria we have.
COMPETENCE is the name of the game today in Nigeria.
If you like, call yourself oyinbo or ''expatriate''. If you don't deliver, we cancel you and kick you out.
My issue is that is he the only Engineer in the Ministry of Works? What are the other supervising Engineers doing? Problem with Nigeria is that progress is tied to individuals instead of institutions. When Umahi goes and they appoint a non-engineer as Minster of Works, all this goes away and the engineers in the filed go back to conniving with contractors to sigh shoddy jobs.
FLASH: Six additional train sets will be in Lagos very soon to strengthen the capacity of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue and Red Lines to deliver value to commuters and thereby increase the economic viability of the state.
babzo: Oh please . Let's stop making excuses for our leaders. They don't want a working Nigeria or African, but they are ok with Dubai and Saudi, with Taiwan and Singapore? With Ghana having uninterrupted Democracy for almost 40 years. With India becoming the number one exporter of Tech power on Earth?
Why should anyone be responsible or interested in your development? Why should what your neighbor thinks of you be any concern?
Why should your neighbor be happy or interested or contribute to your progress when he or she has their own problems?
Nigeria has been governed for over 60 years by Nigerians and almost all these leaders from Local Government to President are now billionaires in Naira simply by stealing from the money meant to develop your country, how is that sustainable?
Spot on!! Nigerians like to blame someone else for their troubles. That's why we emphasize on witches and wizards and churches are continually killing imaginary enemies. Meanwhile the real enemies are in government who are stealing your money and under developing the country are happy at your distraction.
ElevationD: It was not redundant for 13 years. Read clearly and find that it was producing below its installed capacity.
“ Further checks by Advisors Reports revealed that as of November 2024, the plant was producing only 73MW—approximately 15 percent of its installed capacity.
Since commissioning, just the two reactivated units of its four units have been operational, supplying around 225MW to the national grid when gas supply is adequate”.
Exactly what I was going to say. The report isn't well written. It was written more for sensationalism. However, if due to insufficient gas the existing 2 turbines of 230MW only produce about 75MW, then the additional 2 units of same 230MW will likely not produce at full capacity either.
However, the hope is that when the OB3 pipeline is complete and gas starts to flow westward from Assa North gas plant, there will be sufficient gas to get it from 150MW to the full 400/450MW, which is an additional 200/250MW and is not insignificant.
Alaoji power plant with a 1050MW capacity is another plant we need to get onstream. I understand its being refurbished by Chrome Engineering. It was originally built by Rockson engineering.
Hammylawali: Not all states have the power to run this electricity generation & distribution. A regional grid would have been the best solution to this electricity problem. That way, states can come together to fix and upgrade their power installations or infrastructure
I agree. It would make sense for Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, osun and Ekiti to collaborate on this and trade electricity amongst themselves very well. So a state like Oyo that needs say 500MW for 24hr power can deploy 600MW of solar in the northern part of the state where the sun radiation is high and less covered by cloud and sell the excess 100MW to Osun state for eg
