jmoore: How will inflation rate decline, when the factors of production are still at high price?
Will you sell petrol at 300 naira per liter? Or it will happen with babablu magic? The main reason for the inflation was the devaluation of the naira which made imported products and imput for production more expensive, as well as the the removal of fuel subsidy which made logistics costs, which factor into the final products price more expensive. Once those can be stable in the course of the year then price increases should stop and inflation slows down. At least bread has been N1700 in Ebeanor for like 4 months now. And Titus sardine actually went down from N2k to N1.9k. if Naira is stable during the year and petrol and diesel stable, there is no reason for them to go up. So year on year inflation will drop |

FreeStuffsNG: Smh. This is falsehood. Fox is the equivalent of fake news platform in Nigeria. A lot of ignorant people with low self esteem will swallow and believe this fake news. Fox News report on economy. Smh.
That country called Argentina is in deep mess so much that it's public service and economy is in utter mess.
You don't achieve deficit by cutting off the salaries of workers and improvishing your citizens when great nations like Nigeria are increasing salaries and providing direct palliative to support the vulnerable members of the society. You cannot have a war without collateral damage. Ina crisis, economic remedies will have dire consequences for some people. That is the reality. Same way our own economic remedy of subsidy removal on petrol and forex has had its own consequences. And really to balance the budget in Nigeria (which we need to do by the way ) means many people will lose their jobs because no one can deny we have an over bloated civil service. |

SUPERPACK: You forgot that the building still belongs to you plus the rents coming in. Add it to real estate appreciation and that building will be valued at minimum of 100 million naira in 10 to 15 years time. Add it up and total value from that house in that 35 years will be about #170,000,000. Meanwhile if you invest in 10 year FGN bond of 22% today and you can reinvest the interest at 22% as well, in 10 years you will have N584mln. Cos your money will double every 3 years or so. |

saintopus: Why they've not started to sell kerosene is what I am worried about. The PH Refinery has the capacity to produce 900,000 litres of kerosene daily but could not sell it at the Filling Stations. Nobody talks about kerosene much again. I think a lot of people migrated to gas, when kerosene first got deregulated a few years ago. And having seen the ease of use of gas, they stuck with it even when it got more expensive. |

LibertyRep: Even the Oyedele himself knows it's not possible, no just dey whyne ASUU.
Everyone deserves a better pay commensurate with their output, including the lecturers Indeed. Teachers, Nurses, Police, Army, Para millitary etc all deserve better wages. For me, Police, Army, Customs, Immigration and para millitary should have a starting salary of about N500k, because at the low level, not much education is required. Nurses and Teachers should have like N1mln, because it requires higher level of education. While Doctors and Lecturers should start with N1.2mln, graduating to N3mln for consultants and professors. And for those who say is that commensurate to what a Lecturer earns abroad, remember that its not a direct like for like comparison. Living expenses are not the same in America and Nigeria. Rent in Yaba, Akoka, Anthony, Gbagada is still like N3mln pa ($1740) for a nice 3 bed terrace. If you are in Ibadan, Enugu, Akure, Makurdi etc, accommodation would be even way cheaper. In America , if you are lucky that $1740 will be for a month. Meaning accommodation in America is roughly 12times more expensive. Not to mentions things like medical, insurance, taxes, food etc which are a lot more expensive in America. |

These things are easy to get rid of, once the will is there.
Just put it in the rule book that a single act of requesting or soliciting bribe is punishable by immediate dismissal - whether na 'happy sunday' o or 'wetting you bring come'.
Just appoint professional civilians (chartered accountants, doctors, senior lawyers etc) who travel a lot as anti corruption marshal. Once they come back into the country, if they witness any solicitation at the immigration desk, they immediately call the task force number. Within minutes, Airport Special Security should arrive to whisk them off for immediate prosecution, judgement and dismissal. |

For a very long time, lagos has been cornering everything that should go to the rest of the country. They have hyjacked most federal properties in Lagos, including the former state House marina. Nigeria can not grow without solving the Lagos problem once and for all. Maybe this tax bill is a blessing in disguise for the country Lagos has hijacked what? Is it Lagos fault that it was the Federal Capital? Is London and Liverpool the same in terms of infrastructure? Or Tokyo and some far flung regional capital in Japan. All I hear are vague statements like it will impoverish, it will cause decline in the North....bla , bla, bla! How exactly!? Can the North point to the specific clauses in the Act that's anti North or will cause a decline in their revenue? Or can the North do a proper scenario analysis showing VAT distribution in current law terms and what it would be in the new proposed? Taiwo Oyedele has done it and it shows in the new Law, Lagos and Rivers will get less, while others will get more! |

Politics › Re: Petrol Is Cheaper In Atlanta Than In Nigeria - Kperogi by COMPAQ(m): 4:51pm On Nov 30, 2024 |
Ayoefa: Really, so where in Nigeria do people driving high end cars get their own petrol? Everyone in Nigeria regardless of what they drive buy their petrol from the same station at the same price. Here in the US, if you drive high end cars, you have to choose Octane 93 petrol which cost more or else your car will break down. Go and verify. People driving RR, Rangers Rover, Mercedes and other high end cars in Nigeria are using the same petrol in Nigeria. That's not the case here in the US.
If you use that 2 70 petrol in your RR or Mercedes, it will break down. Many premium cars like Banz, BMW ,Audi etc premium fuel is RECOMMENDED not REQUIRED. RECOMMENDED means for more power the manufacturer says is 93 but you can use 87. You just lose maybe 20hp, which is not material in a 240hp car. It's maybe the Bugatti, RR, Lamborghini.etc real performance cars where it's REQUIRED, which means manufacturer expects 93 at all times. And how many of those do we really have in Nigeria . |
