Gooooaaallllll! |
When Engineers demand that an Engineer is made the Minister of Petroleum or the Minister of Power,Works and Housing, it would appear it is a selfish demand, or one lacking in merit. The sign-off was Presidential, because he is also the Minister. Only better understanding of the issues can offer a path filled with alternative beneficial clauses! There's so much more of these cloudy agreement issues in Solid Minerals, for instance, because of the pressure to "diversify". Civil Works fares best, because there's much local knowledge there (my opinion). Transportation, Auto-manufacture, Textiles also have "agreements" not yet widely scrutinised. |
I don't mind the charges, as long as there is equity. By that, I mean that the customer can also be credited. This credit should be immediate when: 1. An ATM does not dispense when same-bank debit-card is used. (N65 should be credited to the cardholder) 2. Repeat SMS should be free. Notice of reversal SMS should also be free (Paid for by the Bank to the Telco) 3. POS not working due to network should be a credit for the cashless user. Paid for by the Telco and the banks. There are so many avenues to make sure that the customer is not continuously being ripped off. |
Alausa, Lagos State. Since March. Checked early October, not ready "NR". I think the queues are for people who paid online. |
It's time to seriously consider high-rise apartments on high ground. I also tried looking out for the houses of the chief, councillor, LG chairman, State House of Rep, Federal House of Rep and Senator. Sometimes, people in such positions live so far away. Monies collected for their "constituency" should begin to reflect once the dry season begins. |
I read a lot then, learning from people's experiences. I read somewhat less now, but would like to fondly remember: somegirl - helped assess UK universities musiwa - he broke Nigeria up even more than the present IPOB and "Igbo Amaka" crew. No fond memories. jarus, babyosisi, etc. So many stories I remember, but can't recall monikers. It's been a while, quite the journey... |
I blew the whistle on this guy years ago... |
There's the Lagos State Building Code and Standards marking on a building in that picture. If the affected house was also marked, what else was done to prevent this? What else could have been done? |
Babajide Sanwo-olu is making a lot of sense. I'm glad someone with such intelligence is leading Lagos State. I would have liked to see a school of Governors at this event. I hope Obi, Soludo, Bismarck and Sanwo-olu himself will have a closer group meeting after this. Nigeria can only get better! |
@Mod "Outrageous". Please, change. |
ONNYX:No, Sir. You were gone so long that I'm really looking forward to your experience-sharing now. Banks are failing SMEs at 22% interest, and skill in investment can't come at a better time for me. |
Fingers crossed... |
Are you Naphew? I know someone by that name. To your question, I have once observed the discovery of burnt/ melted wiring running to the fans. I'll suggest you peel off any insulation and trace radiator fan wiring. It's a good start to solving a rather common problem. |
mejai:I still wonder how to make the government responsible for such accidents. The speed same government sets up Traffic tribunals to fine motorists and encourage instant judgement delivery is mind- boggling. You can't get the reverse in the same time frame. Police to civilian cases and government to contractors, for instance. |
No one saw the jam with 'Worcester'? Curious. |
I would like open reviews from Nigerian Engineering professionals on the proposed renaming of the Ministry of Science and Technology to 'Ministry of Science, Technology and Engineering'. The most important advantage being the inclusion of newer Engineering divisions into the working notice of the Federal Government. FMWorks can then be re-drawn into STEM. Core engineering practices other than Civil and Electrical will hopefully become more recognised. Question here is, are there any down sides to this proposal? |
ppogba:No. My point is, there was no need for the Minister's name. It was made to appear that the Minister had something to do with the incident, since he leads the Ministry. The name of the Chairman, on the other hand, is lacking. The names of the spokesperson and all got in. Mrs. Adeosun? NHIS? Funny. Look further afield, not here. An ethnic taint is an ethnic taint. |
Funny. Ethnic- tinted. I expected to see the name of the leader of the Board. After reading the phrase, "The Ogbonnaya Onu-led Ministry of Science and Technology...", I also expected an unbiased mention of the name of the Chairman, Board of Directors. |
@Explorers You can send that picture to STAN Book 1, cover picture. Titled "Science is Discovery". I'm happy you warned their fingers off. |
Funny people on a serious thread! I don't think I've met her yet, so I'm searching. Any takers? |
The Presidential Hospital (not National Hospital, Abuja) could be used as a test case. Any reasons of "review and refocus"/improvement given here will help correct the anomalies there, as stated by the current First Lady. |
Why the UAE claimed not to be informed of the change in the first place is curious. |
[quote author=uuzba post=81909351]@uuzba Hmmm. There's much that can be said about your experience, but notably, it can be countered by other people's similar, but polarising, experiences. Personally, I have observed this reason/ excuse of show-off to be one people's word against another group. Hutu-Tutsi, for instance. This "they take our women" and are "show-offs" because they have "taken our jobs" is getting too much. I was born and grew-up in a region of Nigeria where this was also used against a more numerous tribe. Adaka Boro also stated as such in his "12Day Revolution". I feel certain that because many Pentecostal churches in southern Nigeria are headquartered in the South-West, there will be perceived biases in any appointed leadership of Southwestern origin in out-of-location branches. There. |
uuzba:Igbo people like showing off? There must be different Igbo people, because I know there are some in whatever country you are in now. How do those ones "show off" to you, or you don't happen to be the "jealous" kind? That reason you gave up there hardly exists within Nigeria, except in places and conditions where there is political benefit in conflict-e.g. before the civil war in the North, and Lagos, before elections. Else, "show off" and aggrandizement will quickly 'belong' to another cultural group and become a thing of pride. Stay woke, sir. |
@seguntijan A war was fought after all these crimes to keep this tribe within Nigeria. I wonder on what side Gbonka Ebiri's relatives fought. And yours? After stating the reason they did so, repost this tripe. |
I'm shocked that angst got to page four! I'm surprised because I read the same actions on NL every single day. For effect, I'll use the language of NL and superimpose on this story... ... The South Africans are accommodating! They developed their land space before these other Africans came! Their land is not "no man's land"! These other Africans are thieves and robbers! They only sell drugs and 'gala'! They are all into crime! They should leave! As usual, it is forgotten that there's this oil revenue shared every month. It's forgotten that Lagos is Nigeria's main gateway by air, sea or land. It's forgotten that businesses have thrived here since before the civil war, built by hands from all across Nigeria. Like Nigeria, like Africa. Are you ready for change? |
Wickedfacts:You left out the kidnapped traditional ruler and wife. Any particular reason? |
"Begg-er". I still can't get over that spelling. Ovy needs a director step-up, or more education? |
New Post (Buahari Sacks Aide, Okoi Obono-obla, Seals SPIP Office) @Mod: "Buhari" |
I usually skip posts like this because I try to think of where it is leading to before I comment. That @naptu2 put it up is why I have decided to. That said, I'm not sure the timing of this arrest is entirely good news. I do not see the reason this is coming to the front burner since the elections, which held February this year. Foreign politics with Iran will not very well be defused with this. Locally, I fight disappointment on many days, on many levels because I am slowly becoming influenced. I was more nationalistic in my thinking seven years ago. Today? Not so much... |
Seen. 1. America will not let in NTA or "news journalists" to report or make a documentary, although they have given details immediately following the incident 2. It would appear that blacks were targeted. For now, at least. 3. A country is one with people of the same general ideologies, not one with the same race and widely different ideologies. Trump and BREXIT should define better their stance on immigration and protectionism. 4. If herdsmen did this somewhere else, there would have been travel advisories and military aid offered. There's more aid needed in building systems that react and legally repel these kind of actions. |
Let this record also show that: 1. There were 3 strike groups for 4 targets. 1 strike in the North, 1 in the West and the Lagos group tasked with hitting both Lagos and Enugu. 2. The Lagos group drove all night to Enugu. They missed their mark. They actually drove all night and arrived in the morning on the following day. I added this for fact. Truth could be that they did so purposely, so there could be this "Igbo coup". You be the judge. |
