@JideFine You didn't settle your account that night of the incident. You kept unsettled and uncleared bills for 2 whole days?! Settle/ close your account at close of work everyday. You would have passed that bill to your colleague (for him to have Oga sign off on it) that very night. He would have also followed through the following day, if Oga bailed that night. Settle/ close your account properly, next time. |
There are different types of offenders. The type who go against traffic because they are impatient and others who get into 'One Way' because that lane was not properly labelled or they were 5-10minutes behind the switch from double lane to one way. Imagine teaching someone that a lonely one way street can be distinguished by the direction of parked cars and learning that said person has been caught on a "Two Lane 8am to 3pm only" road sometime before 3:30pm? There are also cases of deception or following cars in front, because one hopes that an accident or incident situation is being avoided. It is therefore high time to disobey any instruction from a uniformed traffic personnel until you park properly, get down and verify. The burden is all on the driver, so should have a right to be sure he is not being deceived. Every 'One Way' lane should therefore have standard lettering on the road itself, as well as the closure time, as is done elsewhere. |
Why go to their office to contest it? Why not sue? There have been payments for wrongful charges, since some will not contest the charge. If another car has my number/ number plate, the system should be harmonised. I shouldn't also be burdened with the cost of proving my innocence because of an unharmonised system. Reversed fines, even without punitive charges to the Agency will help. It will balance out any high-handedness from any Agency, as personnel will be forced to accept similar cost responsibility. |
Initial reports did not state that a shot was fired. Let the Police prove that the shot was fired into the air, then the Army can thereafter prove that a Private's ear was grazed. Thing is, neither the Police nor the Army will believe a civilian report. Neither party is civil. Same way an 'investigative panel' would ask for impossible evidence from a civilian. I recall having a case with LASTMA several years ago, in which I parked a Honda Accord by the roadside. I was just coming from the mechanic's after a ball joint change. I felt I heard a 'knock' sound as I turned into the first major road. I went back for the mechanic on a bike. We came back to meet the LASTMA tow van hitching the car. I explained, mechanic showed tools, nothing. Vehicle was towed to Agege. (They had a LASTMA Centre there, at the time). I paid more than the minimum wage at Alausa, after showing tax evidence and other requirements. I took the matter up to the Provost at Oshodi, who was more interested in taking pictures of a "peace meeting". The "arresting officer" and tow driver had nothing to add. The Provost's conclusion was that since the tow van had passed my car on the same spot twice and that I "didn't leave someone with the car", I "obstructed" traffic and "abandoned" the car. I still cannot believe someone's Dad said that to me. He wasn't after evidence. My money was gone! |
Valid for just 3 months? Perhaps someone needs to take this to court for interpretation. We await a possible appeal on the varied cut-off marks among same-class students on the basis of ethnicity, interpreted as "educationally disadvantaged". This should mean that the character references required for admission into Police Police Training Colleges should be paid for and have a 3month duration, as well. |
Please NLC and Labour Party should wade into this. No point waiting for yet another administration before this is decided. (APC claimed that there was "nothing like subsidy", with a now-late Minister saying it should be sold at N40. The APC is still not handling the problem, as they pushed out a PIA and have postponed the evil day) Something else MUST be subsidised or wages increased without significant inflation, for this to go mildly away. We have to discuss this now. A silent National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly is one thing. A silent Labour is another. |
Were those buses properly labelled? Did they also have NA registration plates? Why will security agencies that demand such for interstate travel not comply with their own laid down rules? This non-compliance, in a society where a General claimed that drafted EndSARS soldiers is fake news, is cause for reasonable doubt. It is that doubt that the rumour preys upon. The belief that people are coming to "destroy" Lagos precedes EndSARS to voter behaviour and plain tribalism. That belief is enough cause for rumour. |
I think the truth about EndSARS is the elephant in the room. I think the repeated, ethnic tilt that "foreigners came to destroy Lagos", irrespective of the fact that the Lekki Toll Gate cameras and security lights were removed when the security forces arrived and parked a distance away, has led up to the angst in this train incident. Lekki Toll Gate debate opponents and proponents did not lead into the argument from above-mentioned facilities degradation (Company said both sets of items were removed for servicing, at that opportune moment), but chased the live video feed, other social media claims and the presence of blood and bodies. I haven't come across anyone who was willing to start at this beginning. The "Igbo coup" of 1966 is re-told as ethnic, because the story usually starts with a truth, that no Eastern politician was killed...not with the fact that there were 3 strike teams for 4 locations and that the Eastern team drove all night from Lagos to Enugu. I choose to begin from the facts to the truth. The truth could be that the Eastern politician was pre-informed in 1966, that the facility items were due for immediate maintenance in October 2020 and that there was no disbelief related to tribe when Mr. Abolore asked whether the poster was now dead... but let the facts be put out. We will each choose where the truth lies. Other responses on Twitter show a doubt, but Mr. Abolore's response was able to evoke a joiner in someone else that was undoubtedly ethnic. Why? Most others didn't. Why not? |
@OP, Usually, the company policy will entail that you issue a query, demanding an explanation for his actions. In particular, he should explain what he was doing with un-issued supplies. Give him 24hours to respond. If he has no cogent reason, you can call him in for verbal questioning so you can make a decision. If you like him and he has a fair reason, recommend to the Training department that staff need a session on Company Policy, Material Issuance and Regulation. |
Mull over a Social Security number system that will not confuse Agencies. Harmonise the BVN, NIN, phone number, PVC and driver's licenses with fingerprints. Domicile same at everyone's nearest Police post. Then, FG, pay those you owe - fallen poles, false arrests and deaths, forcibly-taken lands, pension. Then, ask people to save and invest. Ask nicely. |
@backbencher You're taking coal to Newcastle. The reason the subsidy removal didn't work before wasn't the lack of a PIA. It wasn't because it wasn't understood by those in charge. The previous subsidy removal failed because of political and ethnic colouration. That's my point. Having pushed the date forward, how do we get rid of political and ethnic colouration, while ensuring that the anticipated gains are purposefully utilised? The date to remove it is yesterday. Sparking off political (and ethnic) coloured protests, aside the expected Labour protest is an unwelcome challenge...which this administration used. Addressing Labour's demand on subsidy means revisiting the minimum wage. Nigeria cannot have false and petty interests again, in the incoming administration. The first sign of such false and petty interest is placing a technocrat from one ethnic group in "apparent" charge, while making sure a 'more loyal' ethnic group personality oversees. Let it all the run by technocrats. Towards the end of the last administration, Nigeria was saving Excess Crude funds at over USD 100. Claiming corruption for sharing it to the States, we are at this point again. Difference is, now we aren't even making savings. Politics and ethnicity need to be removed, so a Finance Minister works freely with a Petroleum Minister using true and exact figures. |
walemoney007:NCS aren't the gangs on the road. Touts all over Apapa exits are. They damage cars and pull-off side mirrors because they are not stopped. The official people (NCS) should clear the roads. |
"No more bribes or settlement on the road?" Really? The electronic medium will remove the gangs of people on the road? This is like the Police "assuring" Nigerians of security, if they have made one payment or the other for a new permit or license plate. The e-valuation will not physically remove anyone from the roads leading to the ports. NCS should mount that patrol on access roads to validate this increment. |
@backbencher The government has given out licenses for private refineries. The PIA is to clean up the supply chain and help regulate the practice. My opinion is that the issue begins with the deniability of this administration, all the way to not borrowing to drive the economy, when it was early (The VP claimed during his re-election debate that there was no need to borrow, that the country was doing well and had even shut down some Asian rice mills) I do not agree that the President/ Minister of Petroleum was instructed by Messrs. Kachikwu or Emefiele, as he touted his PTDF experience with Prof. Tam David West. Not being truthful and actually denying the problem has brought us this far. We can only correct this by truth and competence. Competence still the way to the top, as in, not looking for a technocrat to lord-over with ethnicity and nepotism. The yet-to-be-fully- implemented minimum wage must be addressed. It is much more effective than SURE-P or N5,000 to the "poorest of the poor" for 6 months. True population numbers must be used to provide succor. We must have the whole truth to deal with this. Failing here, we fail everywhere. |
madridguy:It's funny how everyone remains in a higher regime/ class, even when supply is below the minimum number of hours for the lowest regime/ class. All classes ought to collapse into a uniform regime when supply is below the minimum of the lowest class. The fuel or diesel alternative is unavailable now and all one has is an apology from NNPC? That's how INEC apologised to those who wasted money on high transport fares at 2am on the postponed election day, during the last elections. Nigerians feed well on apologies from the Police, Army, Health Service, Civil Service, INEC, NNPC, the Presidency. Nigerians need to feed on compensations, instead. |
@mu2sa2 Why should two children taught by the same teacher and in the same class have different cut-off marks, based on ethnicity? Why isn't the cut-off mark the same, but slots distributed evenly amongst each ethnic group? |
1. Reduce foreign healthcare 2. Reduce foreign education 3. Reduce foreign vacation 4. Reduce foreign deposit accounts 5. Reduce foreign visa applications and exams 6. Reduce foreign visits to "invite direct investment". Investors will assess you online before coming. 7. Reduce foreign tours to "understand bilateral relationships". Let the various Nigerian Embassies do their jobs. |
The scarcity was felt at Abuja days before hitting Lagos. Odd. Product moves from Lagos to Abuja. Do not give the people one facet only. |
I am very surprised that some people here had doubts. @helinues Not every complaint is political. Fuel at N40/ litre (Prof Tam David-West) and GMB claiming that his experience as PTF Chairman makes him know that there is "nothing like subsidy" are views that have to be challenged. It is very clear now that the issues are not just about a politically "clueless" administration run by the opposition party. SURE-P and N5,000 for 6months to "the poorest of the poor" are no different. Nigeria has to resolve this challenge without waiting for Dangote's refinery and wishing away the evil day... ...by picking merit over nepotism. (Infact, all government agencies should publish their staff strength in terms of geopolitical zones. Then, we begin to push meritocracy from there) Doing away with subsidy needs a full fiscal Year Plan, at the very least. Have we begun that plan, having pushed a signed Bill forward by eighteen months? |
FreeStuffsNG:... but you cannot be tried twice for the same offence. So, question is, who is legally fit to lay the charge? Anyone should be, in my opinion... even a whistleblower. Why streamline it? |
If not for the video uploaded live on social media, all government agencies had denied involvement. As it stands, the only things they keep denying are the things the video can't prove, such as whether the bullets were live or blanks, who gave the order and what happened to the bodies. The denial from "we were never there" to "armed force wasn't used" to "fired only into the air" to "fired into the crowd, but blanks only" was dragged out from the government because there was a video. It is instructive that lawyers from both the bench and the bar, and empowered by a panel could not gain access into a military morgue. Some generals also refused to appear before the panel. Even if the video recording was to have been done by a war correspondent, it is still likely denials would be made on the number of bodies. The Iranian populace lost trust in their military after then US President proved that the Iranian military shot down a civilian jet. The Nigerian government has moved from "installed cameras only pick license plates" to "they had been asked to leave" to "hoodlums had hijacked the protest". The first question to anyone is, was the army there? If you believe the army was there, then that conviction only came from the video recording. The army has *never* volunteered information on this incident. They have only been dragged to the truth. |
@BlessedU I suggest you reach out to him privately for his opinion of a good brand. You see, I spent time just thinking of a loaf (made in Ibadan) that gets to my side of Port Harcourt. I couldn't think of any. |
At last, some motion. Perhaps adding "Innovation" will bring more ICT sectors in. Leaves one to wonder where Aeronautical, Naval, Chemical/ Process, etc. fit in? |
Yuti13:Really? I'm looking at an email from me, which you replied to on Monday, 7th June 2021, at 12:27pm Please confirm. |
@Yuti13 I'll respond to your email now. There has been some developments. |
BruncleZuma:That was somewhat legal. This is as right-wing as ESN. |
@Vardanes2 The political capital is a lot more weighty than you give it credit for. Not as much as your antagonist says, maybe, but huge. The PIB should have provided structure, ended flaring and a whole lot of other things. The concern now is the fact that it has been split into sections (like train coaches) without a timeline, but erecting the "governance" and overseeing section higher than the rest...i.e. what agency should be created/ restructured to regulate what. So PIB-G or PIGB (Governance Bill) is actually in force. The issues the corporate PIB is to answer to are growing. It has to be rolled-out in a complete document for best- class investment. Is six of eight years in this administration "preparing" the groundwork for another administration? We cannot get the pricing right until every aspect of the chain is reviewed. N300 a litre will then force a salary review upon Revenue & Fiscal and upset a rather delicate balance. I think it has to go that way, though. |
A simple handheld metal scanner will do. Virtually every security agency claimed to make ventilators some months ago. Powering a magnet and a beeper cannot be more difficult... |
Were headlamps changed, too? There's no law against blending parts from different makes, is there? |
Seems to me that: 1. OP does not trust easily, because I think he's mixing up Mobil 5W-30 Semi-syn with Mobil 1 5W-30, USA, full-syn. (There's even an ESP one, too) The difference in prices will shock anyone who doesn't trust easily into believing there's a scam going on 2. Car operations are a learning curve, until one is very experienced to be called a "master". Between them, there was no learning. Appears someone now knows enough to detect "borale", but isn't clear on if he wants it replaced with what was originally removed. Patience with me taught me a lot, Sir. 3. Although I am not clear as to specifics, I think other experiences within this process need resolution. Distrust here, inability to babysit there, all compounded issues. 4. In summary, I think if engine is returned, OP should make arrangements to tow car back home. Agreed negotiations for expendables aside, it is unclear what else makes the experience unpleasant. I am unable to determine how well the drying oil issue was looked at for correction. 'One Nigeria' had given up, at that point. |
Welcome back, Sir! |
I think the amount of dust in this season will reduce the cooling process because of radiator fin blockage. I check the temperature of return water into the reservoir and it's hotter than usual. No sediment at the base of the reservoir. I think I need to clean the radiator fins. |
