codemaniacs:
you can't be Yoruba..

any Yoruba person who reads Nigeria's history and also reads about the civil war will know one thing, the Igbo leaders wanted only igbo people in all institutions outside and within the eastern region... ahmadu bello complain about it, akintola also complained about it... this was before the war..

during the war, their plan was to attack and take over lagos island, which was the FCT but they will have to go through ondo, ogun to get to Lagos, this means thousands or millions of Yoruba people will have been killed if your savior Ojukwu was successful...

so a Yoruba person saying "May be that's what Ojukwu would have done" is very ignorant of Nigeria's history and 98% of Igbo leaders and people behavior towards non-Igbos both in the past and present..
The civil war was more a fall-out of the so-called Igbo coup, where military officers of mainly Igbo extraction did not fully execute violent overthrows in four places with three bands. It is noteworthy that the Lagos strike group drove all night and arrived Enugu the morning after.
Do you mean that "Igbo leaders" encouraged these officers, or that they were the "Igbo leaders" to whom you refer?
Do you think Ojukwu was picked/ chosen by "Igbo leaders" or he was already an "Igbo leader", like Gowon was a "Mid-Belt leader" then?
I think Nnamdi Azikiwe was more an Igbo leader because he remains one of the few who could campaign in three major Nigerian languages.

PoliticsRe: FG Takes Over Revenue Management Of NNPC, Customs, FIRS, NCC, Others by connkg(m): 4:21pm On Sep 23, 2020
One Director of Revenue to learn the ropes and come up with fresh ideas to increase revenue?
I.T.-driven? Is it an entire replication of the Revenue department of these GOEs?
Who collects? Same old government folks? Who totals revenue before remittance? New office?
I think that if the government deploys more I.T. remittance AND timely service delivery, there would be less need for more human oversight.
As is, payment by online methods exposes the delay in many government offices, which creates room for revenue loss by inappropriate financial inducement. Government should set time- targets for service delivery and a robust complaint system. Revenue will surely increase then.
InvestmentCASHCRAFT Has Failed Investors! by connkg(op): 9:36pm On Sep 21, 2020
I spoke with a Cashcraft representative at their office today. I have been trying to recover the money I invested with them years ago. I had written to SEC, but received neither response nor acknowledgement.
Cashcraft is now angling to pay only the principal deposited, not the accrued value (with interest). What this financial entity intends is to use individual monies, break annuity contracts, *delay* returns for years, remove the accrued interest and pay the original principal sum at a date determined only by them.
Where can one find fair hearing in Nigeria?! cry
PoliticsRe: Osinbajo: Some Public Commentators Make Baseless Assertions by connkg(m): 5:36pm On Sep 13, 2020
It wasn't too long ago that I believed that Nigeria had actually closed down some Asian rice mills because of an increase in rice production. That was a time young people on NL "cartooned" Peter Obi as Mao Tse Chung. Peter Obi had, during the VP debate, stated that "borrowing was OK, as long as it was to re-stock his shop". I believed the counter argument, that "the poorest of the poor" were already being lifted out of poverty with Tradermoni and N-Power.
Barely a year later, Chinese loans are creating a sovereignty debate and rice mills in Asia are thriving.
I will not dwell too long on the fuel price, VAT, electricity tariff hike or still-negotiated-by-State minimum wage.
I now only believe that this administration can redeem itself by involving truth-speaking technocrats and implementing their advice.
PoliticsRe: No Tariff Increase, Buhari Ordered Mass Metering - NERC by connkg(m): 11:12am On Aug 27, 2020
I am waiting for the Consumer Protection agency to show more visibility. Gee64 has complained and it appears to be across board.
Seems something happened in June. Tariffs soared. I complained at two IKEDC offices myself. In one of those, I met a Pharmacist also complaining. I verified that no new survey was done, but somehow the tariff had risen.
I was then told that estimation was an outsourced job. Confusing, really.

In theory, Sir, my rent will reduce to N30,000 per annum, in agreement with my landlord.
This minimum wage has been staggered or denied outright, so I cannot pay my rent.
I will begin to pay 0.78%, 1% or 2% immediately the government pays the minimum wage with same alacrity.
PoliticsRe: We Were Recruited In Mosques, Trained In Libya – Terrorists Arrested In North by connkg(m): 10:12am On May 11, 2020
1. There is still a lot of high-profile kidnapping going on. It is hardly reported locally. This is why international news is more informative to Nigerians than local news
2. @niit and @yahmohy27 High profile kidnappers have not been recruited in churches in any case Abba Kyari has handled. By "Christian and non- Muslim", what do you mean? Evans? Would it please you to refer to him as a Christian, but not a Christian fanatic? The fact remains that the perp thought he was getting into a militarised religious society, not kidnapping. There are no militarised Christian societies in Nigeria at this time.
3. Their ages, religious funding and a violent culture is a deadly mix. Nigeria MUST work to break this triangle.
Happy holidays.

HealthRe: Nigerians Clearing Out Chloroquine From Stores After Trump's Comment by connkg(m): 1:09pm On Mar 20, 2020
The Nigerian government focuses on chasing down something called "fake news". It assumes little to no responsibility for "no news" or "false news".
The American President has proven his veracity in the Iranian airliner case. He spoke and the price of Chloroquine has just gone up.
There are knowledgeable scientists in Nigeria. We need to hear more than awareness. Let knowledgeable people speak!

Why does Hon. Gbajabiamila need an investigating committee? Perhaps is has never been aware of the problem or there is a side of truth he believes is not yet apparent?
Why do we need to begin with committees on this issue? It has been raised before.
The House can either engage with the providers for a better deal or act, in some other way.
What, exactly, is being investigated?

Conventional or synthetic. There is no blend. Cost is really not an issue because yes conventional is cheaper but changes are more frequent so it's your call.

might as well downgrade to conventional
@radautoworks
That bad? Do you mean conventional 5-30? If so, what can I expect?

I sometimes think full-syn is too thin for the v6. I get good mileage, runs clean and all, but I am careful with checking my cooling and condenser fan relays because of an unpleasant overheating experience. I plan to try 1litre of this Mobil2000 semi-syn 5-30 on my gen first (gen has been sharing USA Mobil1 5-30 since)
Car TalkRe: Total, Forte, Conoil, oando, Mobil1 And MRS Synthetics Oils by connkg(m): 2:32pm On Dec 06, 2019
@sooperrescue
I've come again to present another oil I saw. I've been quietly using my Mobil1 USA full syn 5-30 until I saw a new semi-syn non-USA 5-30. Mobil 2000, they call it.
I asked for the price and temptation reared up. (I can now afford rice this border closure season, if I buy this now for my next oil change)
Question: what are the downsides to a 15yr old Honda v6 too used to burning full-syn, if I go semi-syn. Both 5-30.
CrimeRe: Anambra Government Inspects Homes, Uncovers Baby Factories(photos) by connkg(m): 2:41am On Nov 17, 2019
Dear Anambra State,
Your recent notoriety is shameful. I think it is because you have a very large market place and people can very easily slip in and leave with or without very young children.
I think you should review the cultural practice and the judiciary.
In the South West especially, children born out-of-wedlock are (more often than not) accepted by the boy's family. In the South East, pressure is on the girl to pretend and live in denial. Her bride price is "gone" and "family pride" now replaced with "shame". The beckoning solution is what is termed 'baby factory'.
The Judiciary should brace to fight this menace in every form.
You have both brains and hands, people to do this.
Good luck!
CrimeRe: When Sanity, Logic And Common Sense Come Under Attack by connkg(m): 2:24am On Nov 17, 2019
I read all 7pages because I realised, from page 1, that this was what precipitated the Civil War.

It is also not entirely right to claim that this incident would have been same anywhere a majority tribe was located because society learns. Some majority tribes do not respond as a swarm because communication and fairness is present at higher levels. I cannot imagine a doctor questioning someone, finding incoherence and not getting on one side of the argument in a place like Port Harcourt.
Unfortunately, some hate will be learnt and kept latent by society. This will change the reaction of every tribe, major or minor. @bigfrancis classified society. Fewer people climb higher on the ladder of being their best self. @Ishi should now reminisce and evolve. Avoid, flee were the experienced options. Sorry.
PoliticsRe: Oil Bloc: Mass Sack Looms As More IOCs Mull Exit by connkg(m): 11:26am On Nov 09, 2019
There's little to mull over.
More shale in the US basin means cheaper home refining for IOCs.
Means less for the Nigerian budget and more problems for our "no subsidy"/ under recovery.

The Nigerian government should look towards suggestions made by the Society of Engineering to save itself from total loss from poor policies that didn't drive down gas flaring and from poor income diversification. Our entire oil history appears to be only marginally profitable, as at now.
TV/MoviesRe: Genevieve Nnaji’s 'Lionheart' Disqualified By Oscar Over Language, She Reacts by connkg(m): 12:34pm On Nov 05, 2019
I do remember that a lot of those who commented after "Lionheart" premiered said that the movie had too much Igbo language (not culture).
I am not sure if 12minutes covers scenes between the protagonist and her Uncle, that of dining together with relatives or the Hausa bit. It appears the 12minutes do not cover monologues, proverbs or non-protagonist statements.
Great movie! The English in it will sell the movie more, just watch.
