Your talk shows your years. You think I am not happy with projects going on in Ebonyi state since this present government? My brother I am from Uburu Ohaozara local government in Ebonyi state. So I have every reason to be happy for any development in the state. Besides, you should carefully read what I wrote and understand that I was not particular about Ebonyi state.

Not that I don't have reasons to be particular about Ebonyi state. Because in terms of poverty, I will ask you to check number of people hawking on different roads in the country, majority of them are from my Ebonyi state, check number of wheel barrow pushers in different markets especially in the south east, majority of them are from my Ebonyi state, the same way you see them doing other menial jobs, not to talk of the number of out of school children in the state.

Those are what physical projects cannot resolve, except a deliberate efforts on the part of the government to work on human capital development.

As for the issue under discuss, I will tell you that the poor performance of Ebonyi state is not because the citizens are not paying high in different taxes. They are paying even higher than Borno and other states, to the extent that many are now crying. The reason for the poor performance is that in Ebonyi state, after government projects the next other thing that looks a bit serious in the state, is the quarry work at Ishiagu, and cement industry which they recently brought back to work at Nkalagu. Else, no other serious investors in the state. Industries are almost zero. So after tasking the few small businesses heavily in the state, they don't have the big players to get huge revenue from. So the government should work had in attracting investors and assisting MSMEs to develop in the state.

IGR has absolutely nothing to do with poverty. In the case of Borno, almost everyone works in the public sector, given the low level of education, that's why it's IGR is higher than a state like Ebonyi, where a larger portion of its population have SMEs, and they pay very little tax. The same is the case in all the Igbo states.

Because Igbo states have much larger private sectors, it also means that the state governments have more money to spend on capital infrastructure. Which accounts for the large infrastructure development in the state of Ebonyi. Compared to a state like Ogun, which has huge recurring expenditure, and very little money to spend on infrastructure development.

Stop defending a pure case of woeful performance. My Igbo people will leave their base and scatter in different other places with their business. And whenever you hear them make noise, it's all about what buhari is doing, what El Rufai is doing in Kaduna, what Lagos governor is doing, how Kano governor puts dollars in his pocket etc.

They don't care about how Ikpeazu and Theordo Orji have governed Abia state, how Ugwuanyi is ruling Enugu state is never their problem. Again, don't even try to convince them why Orji uzo Kalu must remain in prison for fraud he committed. Because to them, he should be free because he is not the only one who has stolen before, any Igbo person arrested for corruption is being victimized because he is Igbo and a Christian. These are the kind of arguments you will be hearing from people who claim they are better exposed and educated. Yet, everything about us keep getting worse day in day out.

My annoyance is that the States with poor performance are where we hear most noise coming from about poor performance of the President at the center. Majority of these people are more interested on what buhari is doing, while careless on what their governors are doing despite a lot of leverages at their disposal to perform better. Just look at the woeful performance of south south and south East States.

ONE-TIME Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu has not been released from Kuje Correctional Centre because Friday’s Supreme Court judgment does not affect him.

The apex court did not issue any order for the release of the Senate Chief Whip because he did not file any application for such. He was a respondent (defendant) in the matter before the Supreme Court alongside Federal Republic of Nigeria and Slok Nigeria Limited.

The judgment only covered the appellant, Mr. Ude Jones Udeogu, who challenged the propriety of a Court of Appeal, Justice Mohammed Idris, to try him. Udeogu claimed that former President of the Court of Appeal Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, lacked the powers to issue a fiat to any appellate judge to try him. He also alleged that Bulkachuwa erred in law to issue a fiat under Section 396(7) of the Criminal Justice Act, 2015 which was a non-existing law.

The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Correctional Service, Mr. Ja’afar Ahmed, has also refused to release Kalu because there was no order from the Supreme Court. It was learnt, Kalu may have to approach the Court of Appeal, where he has a pending matter, to ask for his release following the dismissal of the judgment of the Federal High Court, Lagos by the Supreme Court.

On Monday, a team from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was at the Correctional Centre (Prison) to check the status of Kalu and monitor the situation.

Kalu was put on trial for alleged N7.65 billion alongside his company, Slok Nigeria Limited and Ude Udeogu, who was Director of Finance and Accounts at the Abia State Government House when he was governor. The former governor was jailed for 12 years and Udeogu was convicted and sentenced to a 10-year imprisonment. But Udeogu challenged the propriety of a judge of the Court of Appeal presiding over his trial and conviction. His battle ended at the Supreme Court on Friday where his conviction was nullified because his trial was faulty.

According to a copy of the judgment obtained by The Nation, the Supreme Court clearly stated that the judgment relates only to the appellant. Those who heard and decided Udeogu’s application were Justices Olabode Rhodes-Vivour; Mary Ukaego Peter-Odili; Olukayode Ariwoola; Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun; John Inyang Okoro; Amina Adamu Augie and Ejembi Eko.

Delivering the lead judgment, Justice Eko said: “I hereby allow this appeal. Section 386(7) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015 is in my view, an unnecessarily gratuitous legislative interference with, intrusion into or an outright usurpation of the appointing powers of the Executive arm consigned specifically to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the Constitution in Sections 250(1) and 238(2) thereof.

“The ‘Fiat /permission’ issued on 2nd July, 2018, by the President, Court of Appeal to the Honourable, Justice M.. B. ldris, JCA to proceed to the Federal High Court, Lagos and conclude the part-heard .criminal matter: FHC/ABJ/CR/56/07-, notwithstanding the fact that the Honourable, Justice M. B. Idris, JCA, upon his elevation to the Court of Appeal had ceased, not only to be a judge of the Federal High Court but also to have and exercise the powers and jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, is ultra vires Sections 1(2)(a) and 19(3) and (4) of the Federal High Court Act, the same being an outright usurpation of the powers of the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.

The problem with people like you is that you build perception against others based on how people especially politicians want you to feel about them. Because, those names you singled out, if i ask you to state your personal experience or how they have wronged you, you will not have any single evidence. In case you don't know, I listed those names based on their performance in public service. Forget about sentiments, do a proper historical analysis of those names in public service, then tell me who among their peers that outperformed them. All of them will certainly be among top three.

Oga, they are not the same. PDP has no quintessential politicians like; Buhari, Tinubu, Ogbonnaya Onu, Oshomole, Osibanjo, El Rufai, Nwajiuba, Ngige, Pat Utomi, Prof Zulum etc.

What they have are the likes of FFK, Fayose, Theordo Orji, Okezie Ikpeazu, Mbadinuju, Ortom, Makinde, Akala, Igbinedo, Tony Anini, Asari Dokubo, Ibori etc.

Another difference is that, PDP ruled for 16 years and deprived the country basic infrastructure through corruption. But in about 5 years of APC, the government is building railways, Airports, Federal roads that cut across 36 States of the federation, Second Niger Bridge, Ogoni oil spill clean up, Agriculture is now taking a good shape, fertilizer plants are now fully working. And so many areas you can't compare or simply say they are the same.

This is the obvious truth. And that's why they have been backing like chained mad dogs. Ask them what they did with the ones they collected while they were in power, they will have nothing to show for it.
