Khaleepha5681:No, he will do it again. That's a bad behaviour. |
True. Working on your CV makes a huge difference. I've helped several people on this and they're better off. All you need may just be a second opinion to certify that your cv is fine. There are websites that gives free formats/samples. Google. If you need my professional help too, you can send a PM, I charge for the service. Mamatukwas: |
contra:Still open please. Thank you. Thanks to lexus, omopapa and TuniLove that cane through. |
Anyone need Naira? Please send a DM. |
Hwy9:Wait for the revised CoS. Rushing it is the fastest way to have complications in the future. Be calming down. |
The impact of the bleeding is minimised when they buy an index fund or ETFs. It's the perfect strategy for portfolios diversification. Don't buy single if you're playing long term. Lexusgs430: |
AirBay:Nairaland won't allow the website. But you can search blog spot "First 5 years in the UK as a Nigerian Expatriate (Migrant)". On iephraim blog spot |
contra:I've responded to all who requested for the document. Please check your inbox. Cheers. |
Aminess1:Welcome to the abroad. You didn't indicate visa you came in with. I'm assuming student? You usually can't do any work without your NI and you require DBS for only a few jobs. You can do volunteer jobs for a few weeks as you have been advised and that will count as part of your UK experience. I wish you all the best. NB- I have a 5 page document i titled "First 5 years in the UK as a Nigerian Expatriate (Migrant)". Although it's for skilled workers, others may find it useful. Let me know via pm if you need it. |
mrcodebreaker:Help2buy can cover any amount you're buying. You just lose the 25% bonus if you're buying a house above 250k anywhere outside London or above 500k in London. So far as you've your 5%, you can use help2buy. |
Thank you Justwise and fatima04. I was already losing interest in the other thread. |
authority2006:You seem to have taken a position on whose side you are. Are you poor? Shouldn't you try to be rich and wealthy so that you can help the poor? Everyone should be entitled to their wealth especially if they worked hard for it. |
atyadz1:You need utility bill to register for many things like bank account, council tax, applying for credit card etc which you won't have if you take a bill inclusive house. But if the bill inclusive ones are cheaper you may want to consider those and find another way to create your utility bill, like take a ohone contract etc. On inspection, most restrictions are relaxed now and you can have physical inspection, otherwise online inspections are also available. |
decong:1. Use your Nigerian address or the school address - I assume you're coming for studies. 2. Some apartment are really small and won't be convenient for more than 1 person. I'd advice you give full disclosure. You'll surely get something soon. 3. Just the same way you've been doing. It's not different from the way you secure accommodation in Leeds or Manchester or London. Search on Rightmove, spare room, zoopla, onthermarket, gumtree, open rent etc. 4. The person you want to help you will do point 3 above. All the best. |
1. Learn the skill to do a good job, 2. Build meaningful relationships top, down and sideways. 3. Find a way to do something within the company that's invaluable, probably something no one else wants to do. 4. Be ready to change your employer 5. Do a good CV, cover letter and have a good LinkedIn profile. 6. You can find the details in my book on amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/SUCCEEDING-YOUR-CAREER-Graduates-Professionals-ebook/dp/B096SJ6YD4/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=succeeding+in+your+career+by+ephraim&qid=1623332361&sr=8-1 |
I'm interested in this one too. I used only 2.4years in mine and paid for 3 years. Can I get some change back? KOVIC19COVID20: |

Fighting involving targeting opponent's face and stomach just so you can knock them out is fine if done right? Okay. The argument here is intentions and not outcome and I'm looking at boxing as a sport in its own rights, not comparing to other sports. mansakhalifa: |
It seems that the promoters have been able to convince us that fighting is great and that it is a sport. But, how did we get convinced, and everyone in the world seems very fine with it? Even the government doesn't mind. Well, that is by design! Fighting as I understood it as a child was only happening when two people get into an argument and they fight. Any right-thinking adult would discourage this behavior. Sometimes we would even get spanked for fighting, just for good measure. But in boxing, you don't need to be angry, you just fight. Here they say that they love the "sport." In truth, the promoters have only succeeded in selling us this “sport” because of the promised incentive. Have you ever wondered why both fighters, regardless of whether they win or lose, get paid? Sometimes, losers even get paid more! Many people have taken up this “sport” all over the world. Does it make it okay? They claim to get some sort of entertainment and satisfaction from seeing others beaten. It helps them relax. Hahaha. They study the reflexes and conclude how remarkable and inspiring they are. They claim it gives some artistic fulfillment. Of course, why won’t punching someone in the face be inspiring? You realize the target is usually the face, right? They have only succeeded in selling this “sport” because of human’s weird or should I say warp interests. Or maybe fighting is okay, so far as it’s regulated and done in a controlled environment? Let's hear your thoughts... |
[quote author=Chukwuka16 post=101314866][b]Internal This is very good boss. Thanks for sharing. |
Lexusgs430:Sad Reality. He probably may not even find a bank that can offer him as it appears he doesn't have credit history. Go offline and ask people who know you. Money is not easy to get in this UK. Not to talk of giving. |
christopheru:Tricky but choose Lagos to build your network. You'll be too relaxed in Ibadan and feel like you've arrived. Also, you're likely to meet more sophisticated people in Lagos. I come in peace ✌️ |
kaze4blues:It may be very easy to switch as a financial auditor all your life and want to be IT Audit because you got a CISA certificate with no experience as a CISA. Best bet will be to move to the UK as a financial auditor, so some time and then make the switch. My opinion. |
kaze4blues:If you've quality experience in systems audit in Nigeria with your CISA, most big 4 will grab you. Quality experience is at least full senior consultant with around 4 years, with ability to lead projects. |
missnigeria:This I believe is dependent on your visa type. For tier 2 visa, there's a section in your offer letter that says that, your employer will pay if you can't. This only show that your salary is capable of caring for your dependents for the duration they're staying. In which case, you only need to show bank statement for 3 to 6 months showing constant inflows and current balance if you have it, otherwise attached your offer letter. You need to only worry about the subsistence as the health surcharge should have been covered when you're applying for your visa. For other categories of visa, (which I'll think student visa and visitor), the suggested cost of living is £680 per month for each dependant. This is based on my experience bringing in my dependents and MIL in 2019 and 2020 respectively. |
Oggg:Well, i did the exact same thing with my MIL and she stayed for 5 complete months, September 2020 to February 2021. I'm on tier 2 General. The immigration people called to asked where she's here when she arrived and madam explained. I think it's more of the support you include in the application and the reasons you give. My opinion please. |
LagosismyHome:I think CBN mentioned 3 major IMTOs. Did the person use any of the 3? Others will come on board eventually. |
My oga. Hehehe Implementation is another thing in Nigeria and not necessarily absent of policies. Lexusgs430: |
Allowing recipients to receive forex will flood the street market and drive down demand. That will positively affect Naira exchange. It's a temporary solution but it's a solution still. I don't know the long term solution, i don't know if there's one aside increasing our forex earning potentials and providing enabling environment to attract FDIs. While we are waiting for the government to do this, we can use the temporary solution and deal with the implications later. Lexusgs430: |
