Crime › Re: Uniport Shut Down As Students Set Umuokiri-aluu Ablaze! by coogar: 12:17am On Oct 10, 2012
kindabigg: Mr., what's the solution? Let us see if you have anything up there.
what's the solution to what? the current crisis in aluu? let the students satisfy their lusts for justice! that's the only solution and i say amen to that. my only disappointment is this action should have been taken over the weekend when the bulk of that community were still around but half bread is better than nothing!

one thing is certain after this incident - no blood sucking community would touch any student or any corp member after this in nigeria! the days of secret ritual killings and jungle justice are over!

brilapluz: THIS IS BY FAR ONE OF THE MOST THOUGHTFUL AND HIGHLY INTELLIGENT COMMENT I HAVE READ IN NAIRALAND!!
For every effect there is a root cause. Find and address the root cause rather than try to fix the effect!!!!1
hahahahaha, nigerians and their uncanny ability to be perpetually stüpid.......
so the government made people what they are or people were already what they are before the corrupt government? lemme ask you one question - are the people in government aliens? are they not nigerians like you and i? you must be genetically daft!

nigerians poisoned the system - nigerians poisoned the government and it's policies - your logic of cause and effect is misplaced. the people were corrupt even before the british colonised us! if you are still lucky to have a great grandfather who can still talk , let him tell you about the atrocities our own people committed during the slave trade era!

you fools should not even be allowed to discuss the weather, let alone discuss a sensitive issue as the aluu-4!

inurmind: Dont people understand that the same emotion u and the university students are using to say ''burn those houses'', ''burn the leader'' is the same the perpertrators used to kill the victims?

U can never eradicate evil with more evil. U only make it a horrid circle of savagery.
Is that so hard to understand?
nicely put but there's a slight problem!
the university students never asked for this - aluu community's leprous fingers poked the eyes of the nigerian students and the die is cast: nigerian students are out for justice and they are within their rights to burn and destroy that community! when the twin towers got hit, what action did america(the greatest nation on the planet) take? did they fold their hands like wimps or did they nuke afghanistan in retaliation? apply the same logic to what the students are doing!

otokx: you guys are free to wish me bad, the videos are widely available all around, right now the University has been closed and houses burnt in the Aluu area, cars destroyed and shops looted. The rioters went to private estates where students and staff stay and destroyed the place - the university has said that until normalcy is restored in the communities around the university will remain closed.
this is the best piece of news i have heard since friday....now i feel so much better. when the people of aluu community see students next time, they would act accordingly!

rhymz: But on a second thought, e be like say guys wey dey Universities for East no just get lever walahi: I can imagine what SW students would have done to the Aluu community before JTF and other government agencies go come dey take statistics. I can't believe the University of Portharcourt is still calm and running with a graphic video of four of their coleagues being massacred by some hateful community criminals. Seriously, that community should have gotten a reprisal in the heat of this whole thing and thr school shut down. All these police investigations will end up the old way. Uniport Men, e go be big Bleep up if all of una just siddon look like this o....i want to believ say Uniport is not full of pussy niggas that get wet when some village dicks get hard on them. . I dey watch sha!
uniport is a glorified secondary school - the boys @ st finbarrs' college have more cojones than the clowns @ uniport! 4 students got tortured for 7 hrs and the student union body did nothing esp in this day of mobile technology where a broadcast message can mobilise thousands of people within few minutes! shame on uniport and their spineless student union president......
Crime › Re: Desola Ade-Unuigbe Supports Aluu Community by coogar: 8:55pm On Oct 09, 2012
oyb: of course i understand where Desola is coming from

I faced two thugs in my house, one wielding a machete, the other some sort of gun. i was very lucky with the way the whole thing turned out - i repelled the thugs almost as quickly as they came in, but they injured me.
it could have been much worse, much as it was for several other people who were robbed that same night - there was a young widow who had the thieves in her house for at least an hour - there was the fellow who had to plead with the robbers to leave his wife alone as he had cooperated, there were the boys who had to watch the robbers argue over whether or not to rape their 15 year old sister, there was the family where the daughter and maid were gang raped.

as usual, the police did not catch any of the robbers, even though they said they saw them running away.

there was the bizarre police lineup where some people were snatched from a so called thief hangout and we were asked to identify them face to face.

there was the stylized demand for egunje with respect to 'police report'

there was the shakedown of we need fuel money so we can patrol

in go slows all over lagos, small boys rob drivers sometimes with police less than 5 feet away. some small boys tried to do this to me at mile 2 , and the police were within my line of vision, but they wee busy shaking down commuters.

yesterday, on the radio, i heard about the one million boys gang, who have been terrorising a communities in lagos, right under the nose of the police.

the immediate aftermath of the house to house robbery - some of the affected closes hired OPC. make no mistake OPC is as bloodthirsty as these ALLU fellows. my generator guy told me a story about how they cut of a fellows hand, forced him to confess all sorts of crimes in front of his parents after which they killed him.

the Bakassi boys did the same in their time.

and people were ok with it. people turned a blind eye to the excesses, even if they found them disturbing.

why? because the monsters provided security that the government cannot provide.

a situation in which robbers are in a vicinity and you can only cringe, hide and pray some miracle happens before they get to your house. . .
a country in which robbers can write to tell you they are coming. . .
a country where robbers can come for a second bite. . .
a country where one of the default actions after being robbed is to leave your house
a country where you cannot even be sure if it is not your banker, your coworker, even your church member that sicced robbers onto you . .

and worst of all , a country where 90% of victims have no form of closure - they are just told to thank God they are alive.

the funny thing is that 90% of the posters who are expressing so much shock are expressing wishes that the same or worse be done to the residents of Allu - and that says plenty. it says that if they too are victims of robbers, they will shed all these sentiments about bestiality. after all several of them have been cheering as the JTF does its thing, burning people in their homes

going by otokx's reports, what i experienced in one horrible night has lot of the Allu community for the past 6 months - robbers having a field day, running wild, and residents living in fear - unable to sleep unable to do anything.
oyb, there's a clear distinction between justice and vengeance! i want justice to be done to aluu community - it will serve as a deterrent to other host communities in nigeria who like to bully students or corp members!

if the aluu community feels the aluu-4 were notorious armed robbers, why not put bullets between their eyes once and for all? it's the manner by which they were killed that irks most people not necessarily the death! if the news had been "4 students were mistakenly shot" - i doubt the news would be this sensitized! however, the torture and the killing lasted 7 hours! the perpetrators of this act had the time to reflect on the consequences of what they were doing but they still pressed ahead to kill - now, that's something!

Smallwoman: To all those who cursed, abused and raved at Desola for sharing his/her own opinion, I think you are have just confirmed what she said that there is an animal in you. if you can go to this extent on a post just because you did not agree with her point of view, what will you do if you had seen her physically? Most responses also show that most nairalanders are shallow thinkers and cannot read between the lines. What the aluu people did was bad but we should all ask ourselves, AM I NOT TAKING PEOPLE'S LIVES THE WAY I GO ABOUT MY OWN CONCIOUSLY OR UNCONSCIOULY, DELIBERATELY OR NOT? It is not only people that kill with guns or sticks that are murderers. The nigerian government of today is a murderer.
you are a consummate rëtard!
desola has a right to her opinion but she has abused that privilege! in saner climes, desola would have been arrested for trolling! the grief in people's hearts is still fresh and then an attention seeking morön suddenly backs the aluu community for what they did? wow! nigeria does have her own share of dolts....

will you shut that cesspit you call a mouth, you sëmen-slurping vampire?

@ topic,
90% of nigerians are not intelligent - a dolt penned 10,000 words of contradictory sentences and people are lauding her for being intelligent! where's the intelligence? you either support what the aluu community did to the boys or condemn their act! this desola rëtard condemns what aluu community did but he is in support with them at the same time! how is this logical for feck's sake?

desola wants to blame the system for that barbaric act - wow! there's suffering everywhere in nigeria - suffering is not only limited to aluu community! everyone in nigeria should be a member of one lynch mob or the other if the excuse for maiming 4 innocent souls is suffering! yet, these "barbaric" nigerians abide by the law whenever they travel abroad even to countries where they suffer more hardship than nigeria. how come nigerians abroad do not perpetrate such disgraceful acts abroad?

prying further, so the barbaric act was supposed to stop all the sufferings in nigeria? if i suddenly become a destitute out of acute poverty, i would never treat another human being the way the aluu 4 were treated and i am sure many of us would not treat animals like that, let alone human beings! so the system is the reason people kill now? before nigeria became shyte, people didn't kill? the first world countries where there's little or no poverty, there's never been a murder case there? i reiterate - desola is a fücking bastard and i wish he/she suffers the same fate sometime in the future!

why stop at blaming the government only? we should blame our teachers! the pastors, imams, clerics, juju priests, parents, neighbours, classmates, etc. by the time we are done blaming everyone else for our own irresponsibility then maybe lessons would be learnt! nigerians and their blame culture peeves me to the marrow! some hoodlums conspired to kill innocent souls and a social reprobate wants to blame the government - what a tyke!

Without making any excuse,we must address the failure of police and the entire justice system to deal with crime, these failures are forcing our people into all terrible forms of extra judicial acts. May God help us.

Ibime: Those are what made me believe the story that they are mafians, plus the nature of their midnight parade. Young men dont usually gather in such groups (allegedly with weapons) at that time of night except made men.

I dont think anyone should be painting picture of them as "christians" so as to defend them. Lets accept what they prolly are, then question whether their fate was justice or barbarism.

They are prolly mafians, and that does not excuse the utter barbarity we saw happen to them. How many boys in PH could claim to be cleaner than them? If they are guilty, then quarter of all PH young men are guilty too.
ibime, they are not mafians - i have been on the phone with some ph boys in the last 3 hrs....extracting information from the people in the know!

the boys were just unlucky.....the dude that got away was indirectly responsible for their deaths. the four guys killed took a henchman with them to recover some debt. knowingly or unknowingly to the 4 guys, the henchman had a glock on him. when they were harassing the debtor, a lady in the vicinity started screaming......then people came out to see what was happening including the vigilantes.....the henchman with the gun on him brought out his piece to effect his own escape and left the 4 boys stranded with the vigilantes!

at this point, what came to the mind of the villagers was that they were armed robbers(which was the most logical explanation) ...then the beating started! the vigilantes did not believe they didn't know about the gun the 5th guy brandished so the pleas of the 4 guys fell on deaf ears......the community leader was convinced they were armed robbers and he gave his blessings for the 4 guys to be executed!

SailorXY: WAOO... The BEST NEWS SINCE RVP. Chicharito could have done the scoring na assuming he played. But Welbeck is better in terms of ball retention which reduces pressure on the team invariably
welbeck's problem is his football brain and awareness! he was the only one with the harper(newcastle's goalie)......he nicked the ball off him and instead of him to look up and either take another touch or square the ball to van persie, he decided to shoot and he completely missed an open net! it was very frustrating to see!

Listening to the lyrics of their song, one of the guys talks about how he's "let the hate penetrate" and tries to justify kidnapping and robbery.

I'm not saying they deserved such a brutal demise, but death is an ever present danger if you choose to play 'The Game'.

i am not harping about it! i am only telling you that she lives in a society who harps about it and this society considers her situation as a double tragedy!

Not everybody is meant to be married. I'd rather encourage her to get a job and keep herself busy. Socialize with family and friends. She musn't be married to be happy.
not everybody is meant to be married but that applies to the people who do not want to be married! the op's sister wants to be married - she wants to have a child with a husband! so you are mixing apples and oranges! there's a difference between women who do not want to be married and women who want to be married but cannot find a husband! there's joy in the former and lots of frustration in the latter!

Your method would only be effective if HIV+ people were all quarantined in a facility somewhere and made to take their drugs twice daily!! So saying that 'there is no point handing these drugs to patients' is totally wrong and callous. Ibime: What we know so far. . .

After several killings, robberies and rapes over the last few months, Aluu community approached rivers state government for permission to set up a vigilante as police were not protecting them. They even gave them uniforms to wear so everyone in the community knows these are defenders of the community.

Q: did rivers state government set any rules of engagement for the Aluu vigilante or where they happy to let the vigilante administer justice through the traditional system ie tyre necklace

5 young men show up in their community at 4.45am with arms. Someone shouting tief tief. They ask these men what is their mission in the community and the men give different accounts.

Q: if the men were there to simply collect money from someone who owes them, why give different accounts?

Which is what makes me believe the allegation that these boys were cultists.
