Don't they know that is what many southerners already want? |
There is just too much that disqualifies the current president of the nation from being believed to be choosing the path of complete integrity as they wanted us to believe. I remember during the campaign last year, people said he was the only past Nigerian leader who did not have a house in Abuja. But it has come out that that was indeed false. I believe OBJ (I stand to be corrected) was one of the people who said that. |
coolscott: salam1:Please make a note of the bolded text in my original post placed just above your quoted comment right here |
tuale4u:What they are doing is bad but it seems to me all because the leader at the top has communicated inadvertently to the nation that he does not know how to steer the nation. He seems to be doing this by action and inaction. |
sunnyb0b0:Wow! These appendices should be made clearer for everyone to see (especially appendix A which) |
This is embarrassing to the authorities. If he had not twitted and put it on fb. If reporters had not started converging, they would not have withdrawn. So in essence they knew what they were doing was silly and it would become worse with more mainstream media houses coming on board. They did not want to see unfavourable headlines and details in the dailies tomorrow. |
In the spirit of true transparency, equity and the pursuit of a corruption-free Nigeria, this thread is dedicated to a perpetual call to the administration to probe and investigate the source of APC's presidential campaign funds in last elections (2015). We understand that not doing this places a permanent smear on the president's professed anti-corruption agenda and makes a clear mockery of it. For posterity's sake, I will make a comment here everyday so that this post comes up to first page and we can be reminded to call the president to live up to his campaign promise of really killing corruption in Nigeria in order that it does not kill us. This is our country and we have to draw attention to everything that will make our country better. I wanted change before the APC emerged but seeing the kind of people and the kind of change that they portended, I chose not to support them. If there is something of better quality that we can benefit as a country by calling for investigations on both sides, then in the interest of sanity, in the true interest of our country, let us do so. |
Celebrating the lateness of a budget that is passed now and which should have been passed long before now is like a 100 meter runner finishing his race in 60 seconds and popping bottles in celebration when others finished their race in 9 point something seconds. When we were wasting time, do you think any country of the world decided to pause and wait for us? Money can be regained but lost time cannot be |
We have gone backwards |

DaBullIT:I am anti-Biafra but you have posted complete nonsense. Please read my post here about the conditions upon which cattle rearing Fulani should be allowed stay in the south: https://www.nairaland.com/3080660/fulanis-must-allowed-graze-anywhere You will agree that not one herdsman has been caught or punished

joborskill:I think the northerners are reviving it by this move (and they may just cause the SS and other entities to join in by their recent actions). I think many others don't mind breaking off of Nigeria as long as it is not necessarily to form the entity called Biafra because they do not respect it. Let some other group meet with Igbos and other stake holders to plant the seeds for a break off (which is not Biafra) and it will have better traction. Others just don't feel Igbos qualify to lead them or that Ojukwu's movement was inspired by anything noble that they should associate themselves with. So yes. Biafra may be dead and buried but the break away is currently relentlessly being revived by the north. |
joborskill:I see that you are not qualified to talk about this thing because in 2000, there were reprisal attacks in Aba and Umuahia. I was there. It seems many people are not informed in Nigeria. I am anti-Biafra from south-south but who deceived you that when Fulani attack Igbo communities, they will not attack back? Back then in 2000 (or was it 2001) Aba and Umuahia residents killed any northerner they could see because of the killings of Igbos in riots in the north as a warning and to revenge. So who misguided you that this foolish thing perpetrated by the killers in Enugu would make them more welcoming or tolerant of you? Who informed you? Who ever informed you so, you have to hold him responsible for every northerner that an Igbo person will kill. I say will kill here because in my heart I may not want them to kill any more, but I know it is more likely that there will be more reprisal killings. And when you say the only solution is the grazing bill, you have just issued a licence for a few more thousand killings. That is the way the igbos feel. It also shows you probably are not Yoruba and chances are huge that you are a northerner. Read this post: https://www.nairaland.com/3075395/allegation-cattle-grazing-bill-proponents

malton:What you say doesn't have legs on which to stand considering the already established precedent: a)Killing and raping other people's wives and daughters in Agatu, unprovoked b)Killing the people in Nimbo with no given reason before or after the killings There is no incentive for anyone to hurt himself (or do anything for that matter) to give the Fulani a bad name when they have already effectively done that themselves by killing, raping and kidnapping all around the country malton I have said before that there are certain statements that just destroy whatever credibility may exist in a Fulani sympathiser position (even if there may be areas where perhaps they need to be sympathised with) |

This op is not worth mentioning even on his thread. His response to oshe11 makes that evident |
fiizznation:The reason why they are suspected herdsmen of course is because they are identified as northerners. Whether they actually own cows or not may be another issue. But if they are not herdsmen but just northerners, that makes the situation very much worse. |
On these few conditions 1) Those behind the Agatu and Enugu killings are brought to book 2) Every Fulani herdsman that tires to kill or succeeds in killing anyone is punished and brought to book by the provisions of the law 3) Every herdsman is made to pay a fine for damages done on any farmer's crops by their cattle 4) Now this is important... The forces explain (and without lying) why exactly they chose deceive the governor telling him how they had deployed troops but instead did nothing and had one big zero set of troops on ground and bring the full weight of the law on the officers involved for being accessories to murder. These people are: 1)Garrison Commander, Brigadier General Olufemi Akinjobi who normally represents the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army; 2)The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nwodibo Ekechukwu; 3)The State Director of Department State Security Services (DSS), Mr. M. Abdul Malik; 4)The State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Lar Stephen; 5) Representatives of the Nigerian Air force These are the words of the Enugu State governor: “In the meeting, we received assurances from the Commissioner of Police that the Area Commander of SARS was on ground in Nimbo. That the Anti-Terrorism Unit was at Nimbo. That he was in contact with the Kogi State Commissioner of Police and reported suspected herdsmen grouping at Odolu in Kogi State preparatory for an attack on Nimbo and Abbi communities. That Police mobile force and conventional police were already drafted to Nimbo and Abbi communities. That he was in touch with the Area Commander, Idah, ACP Ikegwuonwu and had linked him with the Area Commander, Nsukka, ACP Monday Kuryas. Both men according to the CP reported that there were no traces of suspected herdsmen in Nsukka or Idah. “That he ordered the Area Commander, Nsukka to redeploy to Nimbo. That the Garrison Commander on his part assured the meeting that Military was already deployed to Nimbo. Let me state that the State Government provided logistics for these deployments. After receiving these assurances of deployments to Nimbo, I felt quite confident that we had done everything possible to forestall an attack on Nimbo.” “I have deliberately narrated what transpired at the Security Council meeting fully conscious of the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution pertaining to my oath of office. I am doing this in due discharge of my duties as Governor. If the above-mentioned people are tried and brought to book for their played roles in the unfolding of the massacre, and conditions 1-3 are met, only then we can return back to the status quo of finding a way to accommodate nomad herders who may pass in search of grass for their cattle. Until then, their bad behaviour has earned them a red card from the hosts whom they expect to be hospitable to the man who butchers his wife and kids By the way, federal Road Safety Corps and Nigerian Prison Services, State Traditional Rulers Council and the Attorney General of the State were present in that State Security Council meeting in which the governor was deceived. Bringing security officers to book is also part of the anti-corruption era in which we are right now. Some officers have already been punished for the roles they are alleged to have played in certain elections last year Fadahunsi 2kris kropotkin11 dgr8truth ramdris kcnwaigbo DaBullIT OneManLegion papiforreal marshalcarter marshborn spartanobad Rexphobia pepigeorge Activa Orikinla otitokoroleti tammie24 oduastates ExInferis spiralwedge |
omenka:They have complete freedom of movement but do they have any freedom to kill and rape other people's wives and daughters and burn their houses? If it is the need for grazing of their cattle that causes them to kill people when they visit other people's territories, those people are saying that they are no longer welcome with their cattle. I think that is clearly understood. Nobody is calling for all meshai's, mayguards, etc to leave the south. We have simply correctly identified the ones that cannot be welcomed here - the cattle rearers. It is also remarkable that instead of offering any kind of apology for the crimes committed by their kind, they say nobody can stop them. If this is not some expansionist thing being deliberately done, is the natural response not "we apologise and let us work together to catch/prevent the culprits"? When there was a bomb blast in Owerri, it was the northern community themselves that came together and said they must acquire for themselves identity cards so that any strange person in their midst would be identified. About people "inflaming the whole situation" I think it is actually inflaming that you think the reaction of the public is more inflaming than the actual killing, and raping of other people's wives and daughters mindlessly, and it is these kinds of remarks that drain any kind of credibility from the position of any Fulani sympathizer even if their are areas in which they should be sympathized with. Fadahunsi 2kris kropotkin11 dgr8truth ramdris kcnwaigbo DaBullIT OneManLegion papiforreal marshalcarter marshborn spartanobad Rexphobia pepigeorge Activa Orikinla otitokoroleti tammie24 oduastates ExInferis spiralwedge |
ObinnaIzuora:All he is trying to suggest is that the APC supported a Buhari presidency, which seems to create the fuel for the confidence of these ones to affront everyone else |
kropotkin11:According to Fashola, the right to move anywhere in Nigeria does not confer on you the right to be a nuisance to others where you choose go to. In this case, they seem to think it confers on them the right to burn houses, kill and rape women Fadahunsi 2kris kropotkin11 dgr8truth ramdris kcnwaigbo DaBullIT OneManLegion papiforreal marshalcarter marshborn spartanobad Rexphobia pepigeorge Activa Orikinla otitokoroleti tammie24 oduastates ExInferis |

Point number4: As herdsmen killed, butchered and pillaged, the north kept smugly silent. And the following is why I believe they are directly or indirectly behind this: In this so called anti-corruption era, not one call was made to arrest these people. No alarm bells went off over their possession of guns and ammunition. As far as everyone (i.e every northern senator, governor and even the president) was concerned everything was alright except that if we want to stop the problem, we should allow the government to choose and sieze lands they deem fit in all the 36 states to be reserved for the Fulani herdsmen. They say from one side of their mouths that the Killers are not the herdsmen, and from the other, they say if the herdsmen have these lands (i.e. if they have our lands) then they will not kill again. Are these the kind of people we should respect? If the Fulani have been the ones doing the killing, should the response of the authorities be that we reward them with our lands? If the Fulani have not been the ones doing the killing, how will giving the Fulanis our lands stop the killers from killing? |
Point number4: Why will northern leaders come out and declare that an attack on terrorists who are killing, beheading and raping innocent Nigerians is an attack on the north? |
Point number3: A northerner actually said that the oil in Oloibiri in Bayelsa state belongs to the North. Not even to Nigeria No need to expansiate. I think that says it all |
Point number2: I actually watched a video of Buhari in front of a h-u-g-e mob of club-carrying northern youths in a 2011 election rally. In that rally, he was telling the frenzied crowd to attack anyone who tried to steal/divert their votes. It seemed everyone in the crowd had a club or cudgel. Buhari himself had a cudgel in his hand which he thrusted in the air. I said to myself, "In Africa, the elders we respect and we truly consider elders are the ones who when there is trouble, look for a way to bring an end to it from a position superior to the squabble. This man is an old man and this is what he is doing. I don't think he deserves in any way to be a leader here". But surprisingly, this is the man they all rallied around. A northerner in the south told me that even if Buhari was a corpse they would vote for him. In the south, we have so many things that are wrong. But when a scallywag like Amaechi tries to scallywag himself into relevance, we are able to tell ourselves the truth that he is a scallywag and up till today, Amaechi does not have the endorsement of the very state he governed for 8 years. Even Odilli that Rivers people praised knowing he was a crook just because they were going to govt. house to collect money, we still tell ourselves the truth about him - which is that he was a crook and a tragedy to the state. Even Odilli himself has accepted that he no more has a political career. I thought northerners had some deep sense of philosophy that made them arrive at logical decisions better than many ethnic groups in the south. But now my eyes are opening to see that they really do not know what they are doing. |
I am now ashamed of northerners. I will progressively add my points here one by one over time. Point number1: Herdsmen where killing people that they have no dealings with. Herdsmen were raping other people's wives. Herdsmen were defiling other people's daughters. All through the kidnapping and maiming and killing, the northern governors did not hold a meeting to arrest the problem. All through the period they did not come out to put pressure on the forces to apprehend the killers. When people start coming out complaining about their people being killed being, kidnapped being raped, They hold a northern governors forum meeting and say it is an insult for us to call the killers herdsmen. Don't they think they have insulted themselves in the eyes of the rest of the country in a hard-to-reverse way? Don't they know they have helped most of the rest of the country to acquire a genuine conviction that they are actually close to being moronic? Whose responsibility is it to clean up their act if the rest of the country is complaining of Fulani killings? Is it Yoruba? Or Tivi? Or Itsekiri? Does the onions not fall on the Fulanis to clean up their act? You can skip to Point number4 by clicking here: https://www.nairaland.com/3079864/now-ashamed-northerners#45214405 |
Now the northern governors say it is an insult for us to label Fulani as killers. It is an insult for them to attempt to insult our intelligence that way. If the Fulani are so bothered about this reputation they are duly earning now, whose responsibility is it to mop up their act? If Nigerians want to stop being seen as corrupt by the rest of the world, with whom does the responsibility lie when it comes to cleaning up our act here in Nigeria. Declare it is an insult all you want, the truth is if you do not fish out the killers, If you do not stop them, If you don't think they should be punished, If you did not have a press release to speak when they killed innocent people, but organize a meeting now and press release when Nigerians react, If you did absolutely nothing when others were dying... You should keep those words to yourself because we do not consider them worthy of our attention. |
dammytosh:I am only concerned about how unintelligent songs are making our populace less intelligent. Wizkid is only an example cited here. Maybe you are used to people who hate or you like to imagine pple are hating on you (or those you extol) but I simply reversed the question so it fits almost anyone. "Can your children sing it in front of you?" or "Or would you like your younger bro to teach your children the song?" This goes for Banky W's songs, PSquare's songs, in fact every singer's songs. You are not to give anybody the answer to these questions. You are only supposed to answer it to yourself in your heart, and tell yourself the truth and let that truth set you free. These questions, do not necessarily require that you reply with a "yes" or a "no" answer |
The herdsmen had evacuated their cattle from Adani in Uzo Uwani and other parts of the state before the Monday’s attack, which led to the untimely death of over 6 people including a school teacher from Enugu Ezike, Igbo Eze North Local Government, residing in the area. That is perhaps the thing that stuck out the most to me about the article. These evacuations happen in Umuaha and Aba whenever such tensions arise because the northerners are aware the populace can get angry and mobs can attack in retaliation. But the Fulan's had evacuated their cows before this attack happened which suggests that they perhaps knew what was coming |
