You are not different from the others who love to sling mud. The world knows that your "Ijaw" people and the Igbo's are championing a very different and unrelated course. You talk about the Biafra agitation being the aftermath of greed blablabla.. Pray, tell, what do you say about your millitants and warlords who indulge in oil bunkering, violence, kidnapping, e.t.c.? They are the pioneers of your struggle, the founding fathers of your struggle, yet they do not have the best interest of your people at heart.
As for the installation of warrant chiefs by the colonialists, that was done to disenfranchise and immobilise the various Igbo towns in those days and impose taxes and duties on the people through an elected chieftain who is one of them. I know a lot about the history of many Nigerian tribes, I am not a novice. Many Igbo towns had been in existence centuries and centuries ago. Tackle your issues with Seun and leave the Igbo's out of it.
It is not surprising that you consider clowns like Asari Dokubo founding (did I hear you say "fathers"?).
Obviously, it is imaginable to you that such ones as spring up that way can be considered "founding+fathers" given what you are used to.
As for the existence of Igbo villages, of course they existed. But as for forging themselves into a formidable political group, that never existed beyond the clan or village level. That was the height of political organisation they could achieve.
Meanwhile Ijaw nations had completely structured governments thriving and organised over centuries.
That is why the British did business with our kings and chiefs of these kingdoms paying taxes to the kings.

And who gave you the idea that colonialism had anything to do with not being disenfranchised. When the regions all over Nigeria where eventually conquered by the British, we were all disenfranchised. That is what colonialism is all about. The British had to use the existing chiefs and traditional rulership structure within the country to indirectly rule, or it would have been an arduous task.

When it came to the Igbos however, it is the absence of traditional chiefs/leaders that necessitated the creation of warrant chiefs by the white man for the Igbos, of course to ensure the smooth perpetuation of his colonialism.

A perfect example of deluded and confused bigots like you is Edwin Clark who out of greed and avaricious and unbridled appetite for material benefits recently denied his supposed brother, GEJ, just to please his Northern masters.

Here's a comment credited by the treacheerous Edwin Clark some years ago:
"The vice-presidency slot given to the South-South minorities won't go to an Igbo man (Peter Odili from Rivers State)".
And Edwin Clark spoke the minds of majority Ijaws as none opposed the biased and discriminatory views against other Niger-deltans.

In fact, not only the Niger Delta, when people tried to make Jonathan an Ijaw President or tried to do as if Jonathan ends with Ijaw we tried to warn them that it is very dangerous. For example, 100% of the Igbo committed themselves to Jonathan’s presidency. That was why when Ojukwu died, I organised farewell to Emeka Ojukwu. I mobilised over 5000 people to the National Theatre. I paid N1.5 million to mobilise over 5000 people to take over the National Theater for us to celebrate Ojukwu. The Eze Ndi Igbo were there. I took micro finance loan to organize it and I announced it.

Jonathan presidency

The reason was that during the war, we did not follow the Igbos. We supported the northerners against our Igbo brothers. Now, Jonathan is the President of Nigeria, Igbo had to forget about the way we maltreated them during the war, collectively decided to support Jonathan.

Now, the symbol of Igbo greatness, I call him the Ndi Igbo Black Moses, that is Ojukwu, I said there is need for us to celebrate Ojukwu. We will not allow Ojukwu’s burial without the Niger Delta people celebrating Ojukwu. That was why I organised that and thanked the Igbo for forgiving us because during the civil war, we joined outsiders to kill them. Today our son is the President, you Igbo decided to forgive us...

And stop copying and pasting old text you have preserved for the purpose. Maybe that is why your replies don't properly connect. Actually sit down and type. This time, let all know of just one leader of the Igbo nation before colonialism.

Now you have shown that you know a little bit of history but it is frustrated bigots like you that go about town fabricating and spreading malicious tales against the Igbo Nation.

You mischievously call Igbos land-grabbers when in reality Igbos never engaged in such criminal acts. Unlike your people that established empires with the sole aim of grabbing other people's lands and enslaving them for your survival.

And over the years, Yorubas and their Northern co-travellers have propagated lies and falsehoods portraying Igbos who never had an Army or empire as the land grabbers and expansionists.

Igbos are not empire builders, and have no history of conquering and assimilating non-Igbo groups. So, where exactly did you history distortionists and liars get the myth of Igbo dominance and land grabbing from?

Igbos were never empire builders. Unlike you frustrated bigots Igbos never tried to conquer the smaller tribes around them.
Your empires of terror and subjugation are expired and no one reckons with you any longer.

But the issue now is, who are your people compared to the ever industrious Igbos? You are nowhere comparable to the Igbo Nation. And in this modern age you have barely and shamefully survived by being stooges and weak-minded, ass-licking fellows.

You are so agitated and rattled just at the mere mention of Biaf... You cry, shout, whine, yell, curse, weep, wail and gnash teeth with thick mucous dripping down your smelly noses as if your whole essence in life is being taken away from you.

What a pity that loud-mouthed land-grabbing empires are now reduced to miserable, ass-licking bigots!

Let me take you down memory lane just for you to understand who the Igbo was in pre-colonial era so that you will cease displaying foolery and flaunting it as knowledge in the public.

"The benefits of such a mode of living are obvious. The West India planters prefer the slaves of Benin or Eboe to those of any other part of Guinea, for their hardiness, intelligence, integrity, and zeal. Those benefits are felt by us in the general healthiness of the people, and in their vigour and activity;"

"Thus we are all habituated to labour from our earliest years. Every one contributes something to the common stock; and as we are unacquainted with idleness, we have no beggars." -  Oluada Equiano - A true igbo man (the first african slave to write an autobiography) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olaudah_Equiano

I have also pointed out that other people (Including the kingdoms of the south-south) were organised into precolonial nations for 100s of years before colonialism but somehow, that did not happen for Igbos.
Can you provide any shred of evidence that makes this claim false?

Remember, OBJ was part of the leader of the team welcomed from Opobo and bonny to assault biaf from the southern front.

Well, in case you were not born then, check this out.

Don't mind these people.

I was informed by an older relation, of how the biafran army rushed to Bonny and kidnapped the king, taking him on exile. How did that aid their military campaign?

It did not. It was only an attempt to erase the other voices within the region. Having ancient monarchies 100s of years old from other ethnic groups in the region was not appealing to Ojukwu. Let's face it. If it was an Efik, Ibibio (Akwa Ibom and Cross-River) or Nember or Brass or Bonny man that was millitary leader of the eastern region do you think a war would have broken out?

And if a war was on the table do you think they would not go and call all the ethnic nationalities living in the region to the table?

Well, a family friend of ours (old now) fought in the war against biafra. His mother was from Nembe and his father was from Bonny. He was a Nigerian soldier. He is a pastor now. From the time I was a kid, he was already a pastor

You're also still assuming that these Niger Delta states will remain with Nigeria!

Somehow i don't see my cousins from Opobo or Bonny listening to wicked suggestions from hateful people like you or giving two fuc/ks about what you think of their relationship with their Igbo cousins!

Please stop lying on nairaland. The main relationship you had with Bonny is that you were slaves in Bonny. Bonny kings and chiefs were middlemen slave traders for the white man as their kingdom was situated at the coast.

All slave documents and inventories still lie in the chiefs' houses with records. Bonny integrated slaves into their society too, giving many their freedom. Of this lot, Jaja was one. Slaves were allowed to live as normal and do business. Jaja grew in business and was very rich and wanted to become a chief of the Bonny house that took him in.

When they did not agree, it resulted in war. He lost that war but the king of Andoni kingdom gave him land for himself and his supporter who lost the war to settle and establish their own kingdom - they had nowhere to go to since they had just lost a war against the people who incorporated them.

Bonny people still remember you are grasping salves. They still know you don't read to get your facts right. And considering that hundreds of years ago the white man came and met their established monarchy, and did legal business for years with them, they consider you inferior to them as they are all aware it is the white man who installed warrant chiefs for you in his bid to successfully carry out colonisation.

Collecting taxes from anyone will not be problem for those Bonny people because they have done that for years from the white man through the slave trade and the palm oil trade.

I can tell you this with all confidence because although I am rivers Ijaw, I have relations who come from Bonny.

And the answer is no.

Look at lake Chad. In its hay day so massive. Right now its surface area (1,350 km2 ) is more than 1/3 the the area of Lagos state (3,577 km2). But won't we say anybody that suggests borno is not land locked may have smoked something?

Fellow Nairalanders,

Nairaland loves Igbos and Niger Deltans very much. The thought of being separated from them for any reason is unbearable to us, so we have decided that we will reject any attempt by anyone to use Nairaland to promote the idea of removing Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria.

We have updated rule 9 of Nairaland to reflect this decision. It now says:

I'd like to urge all Nairaland members to respect and obey rule 9. Mynd44 is in charge of enforcing it. If you break this rule, you'll be banned.

Thanks,
Seun (Founder Of Nairaland).
Much as your decision is appreciated, it would be appreciated more if you do not insult the Ijaw people of the Niger delta by associating them (us) with that movement borne out of inferior thought, logic and reason and inspired by fraudulence and greed.

It is terribly insulting, the idea that Ijaws who have had their kingdoms for 100s of years before colonisation would take any direction based on the bidding of Igbos for whom it was the white man who came and installed warrant chiefs for colonisation purposes.

If we are to believe everything the Igbo man says, then we all will believe that Lagos is no man's land and that it is even the Igbo man that built lagos

The South-west and the North if they come together they will continue to produce the president of this country for life. We have no hope, so we must consolidate on what we have here.
We cannot afford to fall into that trap. We will perpetually be slaves. We should protect what belongs to us, we shall not allow our young men to be brainwashed.”
“This country must be restructured. We must practice true federalism, otherwise these people will continue to exploit us. We had a President from here. They just decided to take it back, and they took it. Is that the system the young people want to run into?
What will even the Federal Government do to you if you decide to stay where you are.”

Who told you that my identifying the fact that Igbos had no nation in times past automatically translates to my making a pact with Yorubas or thinking they love me? I don't hate them and I am not needing of their love. If they happen to be suffering from hate for me (which I am unaware of) how does that come to automatically mean I should embrace your misbehaviour?

What has caused you to suffer from this need to insult others and verbally drag them to the mud when others are more concerned about living normally in peace?

I say it is rooted in inferiority complex. Being only too self-conscious of the zero collective achievement in your history, your defensively react by getting abusive on others first.

[s]You are nowhere comparable to the Igbo Nation. And in this modern age you have barely and shamefully survived by being stooges and weak-minded, ass-licking fellows.

Just at the mere mention of Biaf... you cry, shout, whine, yell, curse, weep, wail and gnash teeth with thick mucous dripping down your smelly noses as if your whole essence in life is being taken away from you.

Every one contributes something to the common stock; and as we are unacquainted with idleness, we have no beggars." -  Oluada Equiano - A true igbo man (the first african slave to write an autobiography)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olaudah_Equiano

Have you forgotten that soon after the civil war how you wicked bigots and hypocrites connived and robbed Easterners of their hard earned money in banks and gave £20 to only those who could prove they had bank accounts?

You parasitic ingrates proceeded to use the stolen funds to buy up the numerous companies established by the colonial masters, looting the companies and rendering them bankrupt. And that was the beginning of the collapse of the Nigerian economy. Till date the economy is yet to recover.

FYI, Imo airport was built by the people of Imo state; almost everyone contributed even little kids to make the airport a reality.

Acknowledge the simple fact that Igbos fare better than your tribe despite your numerous treasury lootings and federal government presence. The Igbos have the highest concentration of middle-class citizens while squalor and penury pervade your enclaves. You can see the reality in the shocking manner of how many of your favourite States are in comatose with many of its civil servants surviving on the good gestures of concerned Nigerians.

FYI, the Igbo States are the least affected by the falling crude oil earnings. Go and ask Fayose why Ekiti government had to send some of its citizens to the SE to learn a skill/trade in a bid to grow the economy of Ekiti State.

Feed your eyes and stop being mischievous and bitter that a people you defrauded and cheated are doing excellently and even competing on the world stage:

He would have arranged aeroplane for their leaders to come up to Abuja for negotiation & end their agitations in mid-air. When somebody comes with a mindset to set things right & you have not given him just a year to see what he would do before you go on mindless unrealisable agitation, the land would be worse off. Let us see what PMB has to offer even with the resent economy downturn ..we have to be reasonable in all that we do in life. GEJ sold oil for 100 Dolars plus, deceived the Igbos without achieving anything tangible in the region..some selfish leaders collected money & sold their conscience even when it was apparent that the man has nothing to offer.. Now the downtrodden are bearing the brunch of leadership recklessness ..time to sit up
If you think it is about Buhari, you are making a mistake and you do not know these Igbo people.
We who live here know it is connected to some deep-rooted inferiority complex.

I am from the south-south and I know that Igbos supported Jonathan because they hoped that in 2019, it would make the idea of an Igbo president more feasible (something they long for with all their hearts so they can say that they rule Nigeria, are smarter than everyone else, and are on top). So when GEJ lost earlier this year, they saw those dreams of an Igbo presidency in 2019 wash away like an ice cube in the midday sun.

So it was easy to see them swing back to the other thing they swing back to (an agitation for Biafra). Around elections every time, these two things (the presidency and Biafra) are things they simultaneously increase agitation for.

You can see that is why Ijaws are not complaining about Jonathan or secession like these. These people are crying more than us Ijaws whose son was president.

And of course we never believed an Igbo man would be fielded by the PDP for president in 2019. But you know how the Igbos convince themselves about anything they want to believe.

[s]Now you have shown that you know a little bit of history but it is frustrated bigots like you that go about town fabricating and spreading malicious tales against the Igbo Nation.

Instead of you to prove that you were able to organise yourselves into a nation historically, you are busy firing in multiple directions.
And as usual, haphazardly. You don't seem to realize that among other groups no respect is placed on this kind of erratic jumping around when an issue is to be stayed on. You don't seem to realize the mess it makes of the speaker because I believe this kind of darting around is common in Igbo land, and possibly even praised, encouraged and admired.

In the south here, how come no Ijaw slaves were taken? Are you not aware that the white man found Ijaw kingdoms to do business with on the southern coast and preferred to work with them as middle men here, buying you as slaves from them before taking you abroad?

Is it not true that Igbo slave hunters hunted slaves across multiple villages in Igbo land and came and sold them to the chiefs, kings and merchants of our kingdoms?

Now if you cannot point out just one area in which I lied, is there any reason why anybody should waste their time listening to you, except to observe how erratically out off point or logic you seem to have a love for straying?

As for my people, we are not like Igbos, haunted by an inner deep felt feeling of inferiority and therefore going about, screaming around "We the best. We better than you" seeking attention and disturbing others minding their businesses. We are so cool under our own skin that the picture below best describes our position

I think we should take most of what you say as a joke. When did Igbos start knowing the boundaries of what constituted Igbo land?
Is it not after the white man came?
Has anyone ever had of anything like "The Igbo Military"? It was non-existent.
But have we heard of inter-clan wars between Igbos in the past? Of course we have.
This is because the clan and village level was the height of Igbo politcal organisation.
Political complexity beyond that was not attainable.
Which leaves all of us to the conclusion that although the Igbo people existed, an Igbo nation never existed through out pre-colonial times.
So when we look at it, Igbos happen to be among the least socio-political groups in terms of their ability to politically constitute themselves into a pre-colonial nation.
Others successfully did and that is why we do not respect you that much - because other more mature peoples keep quiet but the major group that could not make a nation of themselves just keep making a present day nuisance of themselves not appreciating the extent to which they have not measured up

The Igbos' problem has been from within. Instead of them to re-constitute themselves in a leader-centric way, given that they did not have an encompassing leadership structure before the white man came, they have spent many years fighting perceived enemies without.

Restructuring the inner house would have brought a lot of healing and might have been all they needed to do. Creating enemies has never been necessary as peace awaits the man who chooses to take care of himself from the inside.

The sad thing is I don't know to what extent they are able to come together and remake the internal core Igbo leadership structure

Have you seen any Ijaw man carry this madness of flawed self-destructive logic?
Please, ascribe the Igbo man's flawed logic to himself and leave other people out of it.

There is only one group of people who heighten their agitation for presidency and for secession concurrently around election seasons. No other Nigerian group seems capable of such really bad calculation.

Igboland (Standard Igbo: Àlà Ị̀gbò), also known as Southeastern Nigeria and formerly known as Ibo or Iboland,[3] is a non-governmental cultural region and a linguistic area in Nigeria that is defined by the Igbo culture and language. It is primarily situated in the Lowland forest region of Nigeria, with minor parts in the Niger-Delta, where the Niger river fans out into the atlantic ocean in a vast network of creeks and mangrove swamps on the Bight of Bonny located between latitude 5–7 degrees north and longitude 6–8 degrees east, and occupies a total landmass of about 16,000 square miles in southern Nigeria.
This is funny. Do you own any coastline? You clearly do not know the meaning of landlocked. I mean I sense that you s-i-n-c-e-r-e-l-y do not know.

And this is what I am saying. Now every other person that knows what it means can come to no other conclusion other than the fact that you do not know the meaning of the word/term.

Igboland happens to be a perfect example that can be used to illustrate what it means to be landlocked.

For all his whistle blowing, I think Sanusi himself was corrupt.
This are my reasons.
He was so passionate about how we do not want to hold office holders accountable and how everyone must be held accountable. Then when the federal govt came out with his own financial misdeeds, he totally stopped talking about the need to make everyone accountable.
Indeed, he could not at the time because he was deeply involved in a fierce battle in court to refrain the federal government from guess what?... From investigating him.

That was his response to the allegations leveled against him. No different from Bukola Saraki's or any other Nigerian politician or public office holder.

I don't think we have been blessed yet with sane iconic leaders in recent past. Hopefully, a few different ones are coming up but I say by my count (and I am by no means omniscient) they are scarcely up to a hand full.

A lot of peeps has been spreading false info about how Igboland (IPOB) is landlocked and all sorts.

Lemme Lecture you a lil about "Igboland" and why it is not "Landlocked"

According to Wikipedia... (thank God for Internet tongue) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igboland

Igboland (Standard Igbo: Àlà Ị̀gbò), also known as Southeastern Nigeria and formerly known as Ibo or Iboland,[3] is a non-governmental cultural region and a linguistic area in Nigeria that is defined by the Igbo culture and language. It is primarily situated in the Lowland forest region of Nigeria, with minor parts in the Niger-Delta, where the Niger river fans out into the atlantic ocean in a vast network of creeks and mangrove swamps on the Bight of Bonny located between latitude 5–7 degrees north and longitude 6–8 degrees east, and occupies a total landmass of about 16,000 square miles in southern Nigeria.[4] It has lands on both sides of the lower Niger River, although the larger chunk of the region is situated on the east of the river. The region is surrounded by a host of large rivers. Igboland's culture has been shaped by its rainforest climate. As this area constitutes a large part of the south-eastern part of Nigeria, it is often referred to as the 'The East' locally. The majority of the Igbo-speaking population in Igboland identify as ethnic Igbo.

Igboland was part of the Southern Nigeria Protectorate of the British Empire and was amalgamated into modern-day Nigeria in 1914; the nation gained independence in 1960. Shortly afterwards Igboland was involved in its biggest war during Biafra's movement for secession, which eventually ended in 1970 when this area rejoined Nigeria.
This write up did not state that Igbo land is not land locked. It mentioned the rivers around Igbo land. I have seen the river in Aba. The Imo river fans out as it heads south but that does not immediately mean that the ocean moved northwards to Igboland.

Well, even though wikipedia happened to erroneously ascribe beachline to Igbos (which they did not) they only need to be corrected on account of the non-conformity of that report with what is on the ground.

Only one thing can give Igbos an ocean. Global warming and rising sea levels in such great proportions as to send Port Harcourt, Okrika kalabari, et al under the see. This we pray will never happen
