Fmbn, d most useless govt organization. I pursued my uncle's benefits on his behalf because of my proximity to d FMBN Hq.
FMBN is Nigeria's "hammer house of horrors". There's nothing to be proud of in their mode of operation. They do not even abide by d act establishing them.
First, they deceived him into believing that he can only be entitled to a refund, if he has put in 35 yrs of service or ar 60 yrs of age. Which is not so.
A contributor is entitled to a refund if he/she is retired frm employment & is incapable of continuing to contribute to d Fund. This is what d act setting them up says but they refused to pay & insisted that he must wait till he's 60yrs old or has served for 35yrs. When he eventually fulfilled d conditions, they still kept bringing up one issue or another to avoid payment. When eventually, they paid some pittance & actually acknowledged that they short paid him, they gave an assurance that they'd pay d balance soon. That was 2 yrs ago. As we speak, it hasn't been paid.
I shudder to think of d number of contributors who pass away, leaving their benefits wit FMBN forever.
Unfortunately, FMBN staff forget that they are civil servants who will one day retire. I only hope that karma still works in d affairs of men & that appropriating other people's entitlements to oneself has consequences.

You choose to malign the integrity of FMBN because you failed to get adequate knowledge on how it operates. All this bile and insults towards NHF is all your fault. You didn't bother to read the NHF Act properly.
A contributor to the National Housing Fund (NHF), must be a Nigerian earning minimum wage. Such contributor who wants to access loans under the NHF scheme, must have contributed for a minimum period of at least 6 months.

Stop misrepresenting facts just to malign and tarnish the reputation of a reputable organization like FMBN.
If I may ask you, what is the condition under which a civil servant retires from the civil service?

A civil servant retires upon attaining 60 years of age or 35 years of service. And if this is the basis of retirement, where is the deception here?
From your biased narration, it's obvious your Uncle didn't meet this condition at the time his application was presented to FMBN. Do you want FMBN to relax the requirement because your uncle is involved?
There's a provision for incapacitation as a condition for refund. In the event that an employee becomes incapacitated due to a life threatening illness, a medical report from a recognized government hospital will suffice, in addition to other supporting documents like letter of introduction from the applicants employers, approval for retirement, letter of first appointment, letter of application for withdrawal by the applicant. This is in addition to the forms you are required to fill from FMBN. All these is done to ensure that it's the right person that is applying to withdraw his contributions upon retirement.
Because majority of Nigerians do not want to follow laid down rules and regulations, they feel, FMBN is asking for too much.
In a situation where a contributor to the NHF scheme dies, his officially recognized next of kin will apply and claim the money contributed by the deceased.
FMBN is seriously working hard to ensure that turnaround time is strictly adhered to, in all its engagement with its critical stakeholders.
I do not therefore see any reason that will warrant the kind of poignant and malicious insinuations you're making against FMBN. Always get your facts together before going public with your views and comments.
Least I forget, if there's any form of underpayment as you alleged in your post, FMBN will review the particular case to determine where the problem lies. It could be that the entries made in the applicant's passbook were inflated by the cashier's from the applicant's organization. If it's from the side of FMBN, then, the officer that treated that particular refund, will have to recompute the refund ledger, deducting the amount already paid to the applicant from the new cumulative total arrived at. The officer that made the underpayment must have to produce all the receipts related to that refund application, to be attached to the newly computed refund ledger as evidence of complying with the right processes. This will take some time, as the receipts must have to be retrieved from the archives manually.
So, try and put sentiments and your biases aside, and look at the issue objectively before casting aspersions on the good will and integrity of FMBN.

I faced the same annoying and frustrating havoc caused by a battalion of goats. I left my car in good condition while entering church today. Upon my return, I saw heavy scratches all over my Car's bonnet. One of the cars near my own also suffered similar fate. And the worst thing is that the goats even wanted to repeat the same thing in my presence. I'm looking for the goats owner to vent my spleen. I totally forgot that I'm just returning from church. I'm still wearing a long face as I type this post. Just because I parked my car under shed, the useless goats decided to turn it into a gym to probably practice their acrobatic exploit. I was tempted to even catch one and skinned it alive! Thank God, I was able to put my emotions in check.
My advice for you is that, if the hot water didn't affect the goat to much, just forget about them. But if there's significant damage to the animal, swallow your fear and face your neighbor, explain to her what led to incident and ask for forgiveness. If after doing that and she still attacked you by her incantation, people around will hold her responsible for your predicament. But I'm sure she will not carry out her treat after your confession. But it's very painful, what these animals can do when left unattended to.

Today, Sunday,the 5th of May, 2019 after Church service, at a place called Jerusalem in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital. A meat vendor was passing by hawking his meat, apparently targeting the congregation of Christian worshipers around the neighborhood. I beaconed at him to bring the meat he was hawking on a tray, balanced on his head. As soon as he came, I noticed that the meat had some bluish markings on it. At first, I thought it was the paper he used to cover the meat that left the marks on the meat. However, after close scrutiny, I observed that it's not.
So, when i confronted him about it, he told me and others around that it was a stamp from the abattoir. He even cautioned us not to buy any meat without stamp.
Since I have been buying meat at different spots in Yobe, I have never encountered such. I want anyone that knows about the development to further enlighten me about it, please. I was thinking that the meat was poisoned. You can see the image of the said meat here.

Please, fellow nairalanders, I want to know if promotion in the civil service or any government agency, is a right or a privilege.

In fact, our mumu no do yet. Anytime a new issue related to financial sleaze crops up, we chorus with a chain of lamentations. When shall we take concrete action against those that are strangulating us, plundering our resources with impunity, daring us to complain against their attitude.
That's why I hardly ever comment on such matters. And I truly pity those that are lamenting the steady depletion of our nations' resources. My advice is that, we should either be courageous enough to accommodate and tolerate the pilfering of our collective resources by the privilege few, occupying position of authority , or we resolve to take the bull by the horn, and engage them through a crippling mass protest across the country, and any other legal means that can guarantee us victory.
And for us to move forward in this country, we should set aside our artificial differences, and make it mandatory for whoever is aspiring for any elective position in this country, to declare his or her blueprint to showcase his/her policy trust, to enable the electorate make an informed decision as the right person to lead them based on the declared policy trust of the proposed government.
Accordingly, the masses of this country should do away with the politics of ethnicity, religion or region. We the masses, should resolve to reject any attempt to divide us along ethnic, religious or regional lines, for the selfish interest of the elites.
As it stands today, the elites use our children to achieve their political objectives, dumping them as soon as their mission is achieved. This is after destroying our children's future by the drugs and the weapons they gave to them during their campaigns for the various elective offices.
The elites also realized that to consolidate their grip on power, they must have to impoverish us to remain so helpless, such that the little crumbs falling off their tables, would make us sing their praise or do their bidding.
This is the main reason why, coupled with the high illiteracy rate in the country, we can not achieve the harmony and unity of purpose, needed to truncate their evil grip on us. For us to be free of this modern day slavery, we must look inwards. We should be able to first, remove the scales from our eyes, to be able to discern the damage done to us.
I only hope and pray that we wake up from our slumber and salvage whatever remains of our credibility in the eyes of the world.
