Greetings everyone, I got a small vehicle couple of months ago during this ASUU strike that I've been using here in Abuja.
Now I've traveled severally to the east on public transport and once with my personal vehicle but my dad's friend drove.
I'll be going back to school and intend going with my car cos of the location of my school. My Mom has discouraged me from this but it's something I've always wanted to do myself.
I know the road quite alright but I'll also be using Google maps since I've checked and it's very efficient.
I just want to ask what will be required for me to be with aside my licence for this 7hrs journey and also considering I'm a young guy (20) to avoid police issues.

I was in same situation as you 2 years ago. My dad was ill for 3 years and all my uncles didn't care.

When he died i had to inform the eldets in my family. i learnt alot how igbos bury an elder in the family.
You uncle will go to your dads maternal home with some elders in the family including you, for a formal report of your dads dead.
The funny thing about this Igbo traditional, they will never tell them his dead out rightly.

Is a taboo, if you make such mistake, they will put the dead on you, that you killed there sisters son. Just meet your uncle he will lead you.
Never ever bury him in you residence. You will do 2 buriel.
And remember one important thing in burial.
Money doesn't solve everything, just be humble till you put him inside ground. Sorry for your loss.

I understand you very well, I called my aunt whom I'm close to and she told them.
Hoping for their response now.
It's just my mum that I have to explain to since she isn't a Nigerian, I understand these traditions a little but I'm just angered by their inability to even care somehow since all these while.

Dont expect money from them because they are not supposed to be financially responsible to your father even while he was sick and now dead

If you guys are having issues with your father family, put it aside if you people are not interested in reconciliation but let there be representatives from your father family to witness the burial

As for your mum, you don't let her decision on your father's burial affects you with your kind men in future

Someone that put 5 of his siblings through school, made sure they were as comfortable as possible?...he didn't even tell me this, they did.
I don't see why any reasonable person won't take such person as 'part' of their responsibility when it's even their brother.

Maybe I'll inform his family, I'm just 21 and don't know how this whole process will be taking place but I'm ready to learn and spend money without their assistance. My siblings are still kids tho.

So my dad has been sick for couple of years now and just died sadly.
I'm the first son and I've decided to inquire about how burial arrangements are made and also sponsor it solely because his family cut us off, although they tried but later abandoned him. My Mom have decided not to have anything to do with them ever since and also wish to bury him here at our place of residence not in the village.

I will be 20 by year ending and I just discovered my Bp is high, this is very shocking to me. Was sick some days ago and I went for a complete checkup that's how i found out, although that wasn't the cause of my illness. I Don't exercise anymore but I'm not fat and I think my paternal family has this hypertension history that affected my father. Can these factors be the cause I'm experiencing this?

Had an accident during my IT in another state on an unknown road seeing unknown people around and 2 dead passengers by my side, luckily only my arm was hurt and I was able to get quick medication. Couldn't tell any of my family members cos everyone thought I was at my uncle's place but I went on my own to do my IT since the man wasn't interested on where and how I'll do it.

Yeah, this will be our 12th year in Nigeria but my father is a Nigerian.

With the recent happenings in this country, I've come to realise that no one is totally safe.
A friend of my mom's complained of attacks in their area by hoodlums and how they've kidnapped people in the past few weeks, even my dad's friend a known man in our Estate was kidnapped, I reside in the FCT and to think all these things happen under our nose is worrisome. Look at the recent attack on kuje prison, thesame kuje my lil sis is schooling at, what if they had attacked the boarding school?
I and my friend usually go out very early/late to get fuel due to the scarcity and just last week Fulani people (I saw their faces) attacked us in our vehicles very near to the filling station, to be honest I've not taken most of these attacks seriously until of recent.

My family have come to a conclusion that we'll divide, I, my Mom, my lil bro with my sick dad will remain in Nigeria while the rest go over to her place and further their lives under the watch of her family and hopefully they'll join them soon but as for me I'll remain here till I'm ready to leave but not permanently. Many things has happened since 2015 and sadly this government is about to affect my family's Union .
