The doctrine was established after Constantine took over the church. The first formed the Nicene council where they established that God was a duo comprising "God the Father" and "God the son". There was nothing like trinity then. They later established in the Athanasian council that God is a trio. They included "God the holy spirit". Hence the trinity.

If you check the whole Bible, you will never find these phrases, "God the son" and "God the holy spirit". So where did they come from?

So the plain truth is that the trinity doctrine was not taught nor preached by Jesus or any of his apostles.
There was nothing like that in the early church.
There belief was that God the Father is the one true God and Jesus Christ is God's son. God made Jesus to be lord and Messiah and God is greater than Jesus.

Religion comes with certain rules/laws and principles.
Without common laws for everyone, it'd be impossible for us to live peacefully and productively with one another.
That's why every organisation, society and institution have rules and principles that binds them.

You might think rape is appropriate whereas I see it as not appropriate. And that's a problem.

Jesus clearly said that his Father is the one true God and Paul confirmed that the Father is the one God for them.
Jesus only claimed to be God's son.
God made Jesus Christ to be lord and Messiah.

These are verses you should argue with everyday of your life.

John 1:1 clearly shows distinction between the word (Jesus) and God (the Father), the word was with God. In the third paraphrase, John didn't mean that "Jesus is the God" , it's "and the word was God". This was only showing the nature and divinity of Jesus Christ who was a God himself but not "the God"

Let me rephrase that verse: "in the beginning, the word who was a God who was with GOD".
And what beginning was that, that was undoubtedly the beginning of creation.

The holy spirit is not a being or a separate person from God.
It's the spirit that emanates from God just like rays of sunlight emanates from the sun. You can't even compare the rays with the sun itself.

In a nutshell, the Father is the true Almighty God. And Jesus nor the apostles believe or taught the trinity doctrine. The dogma started with Constantine and his council in the Athanasian creed.

But whatever is written in Acts 8:37, isn't in the original manuscripts where most Bible translations were translated from. Some translation didn't include the verse. Not just NWT.

KJV is not an accurate translation. For example, they intentionally added 1 John 5:7 to their translation to support their unscriptural trinity doctrine whereas that verse wasn't in original manuscripts.

I'm addressing the question based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and the practices of the early church. They never fought back or retaliated physically.

As true Christians, we have to follow the footsteps of Christ. So if there's any violence or attacks and there's chance to escape, you should run and also depend on God's protection.

If you picked up a weapon and tried to fight back, you were already helping yourself. God wouldn't protect you. You wouldn't even be a true follower of Christ in the first place. You can even be killed or critically injured.

It's like someone that prayed to God to help him in his school exams and still went ahead to cheat in the exam hall
