Fellow Nairalanders, I heard one very funny story yesterday that got me thinking.

The story goes like this, two peeps want to get married, the chic is a graduating medical doctor from d akwa ibom, 22, while d guy is an ibo trader 36-ish, says he is a graduate but shoots english like crazy.They met earlier on in d year. Now introduction has been done, and wedding preparations are booming. D mother of the girl has her doubts abt the guy as he didnt come with his father for the introductions, says mother is late, he claimed the father was indisposed. She shared her thots wid her friend and d friend suggested to her to really look into d family of d guy b4 giving her daughter out. One amusing thing is dat she went there with d girl, that is her daughter(who says its her first time of visiting d guys part of the family), and the guy, imagine that. Anyway, they get there, somewhere in d east, and on entering the fathers compound, there is a dangling broom at the front door, and d man recieved them wid 20 naira in a plate and kolanut on top of it, i dont know if it is enuf reason to say d man is a dibia sha o, but the woman was very worried abt what she saw. She came back, told her hubby, n d man is turning deaf ears abt it n is continueing wid d wedding preparations of his daughter, she has tried to talk to her child not to rush into d marriage cos she has only known d guy for some months, but she is too in love to listen.

It got me thinking, love is in d air no doubt as d chic is bent on marrying this guy, but seriously, with dis kind of revelations, if u were in her shoes what wuld you do. this is not just for women, please d guys out there, if u find out ur girls parents are juju people, what wuld you do?

@ op, u de find wife material, we sef chics de find husband material. if d babes u've met dont treat u right then, i guess u are not treating them right.

Our people talk say if u want make small pikin greet u good morning, first of all teach am how to greet by greeting him/her.

yes i think he did, but he says he has a neco result, and an initial waec result dat where he didnt make all his papers. now d confusion is weder to reapply using dat those two,

A friend of mine was recently refused a student visa cos he used a waec result dat was not real, please your advice is highly welcomed, what should he do?

Whateva it is we say about ASUU and their strikes, d students are the ones suffering, i spent 7 years in a 5 year programme, is it supposed to b so? even after that it is still very hard to get d certificate cos of one strike or the other, and widout d certificate u cant do anything else partaining to getting a job, and cos of that it draws us back as a country.

D best thing to do is to close down every private university, cos that is where d whole issues starts. dis politicians steal d money they are supposed to use and develop d federal unis, build private unis, put in state of d art equipments, make sure they are accredited, then their counterparts send their children there, n forget about the rest of us dat dont have d millions to pay, n then they dont care if d lecturers of fed unis are on strike for 5 years, Its just not fair.

heads and shoulders has never worked for me, it just washes d hair clean but d dandruff keeps coming back. Selsun worked perfectly for me, lather in n leave in for abt 10-15 mins b4 washing out, it cleared my dandruff perfectly.

i have read so many responses and they are all stereotyped, no, God forbid, it cant happen. But what about some of us that end up listening to our [arents when u bring a girl home , n and they say no, she is not from our place, or something like dat, YOU CANT MARRY HER. what do u call that? They are practically choosing a wife for u.

as for me, like someone said, its not a forceful thing, if they introduce someone to me, i'll get to meet the person, n have an open mind about it, if i get to like d person along the line, no sweat, if not, then i'll give them d reasons y i cant marry him, finish.

I asked him the same thing and he says the girl has been good to him and stood by him when he was broke and living in a boys quater.
my guy has told his parents all this and it seems the whole thing might cause division in his family.
Thats why he's scared.
He doesnt want family wahala.

D parents are just trying to make things difficult for him, didnt they know about this situation? Methinks he just needs to take a stand for what what he wants, abi dem wan marry wife for am?

all those peeps who said dat they shd beware of ladies from broken or polygamous homes, what abt if it is d man dat is from a polygamous home, n also have u also considered dat mayb some of those peeps from such homes want to live different lives from their parents?

@poster, where were his parents when this guy was dating dis chic for 4 years n stringing her along, now it is time 2 settle down with her, they realise dat her sisters are cheating on their hubbys, so no marriage

majority of dis men talikng here cheat on their wives or gfs, what if it was decided dat no one will marry u cos d men in ur whole clan cheat, nobody wuld look at dat i bet, afterall ints normal,

finally, i am sure nobody will give me d answers to all this questions i have raised.

@poster, it might not b as u put it 'intimidation'. Nobody is intimidated by anybody But i have realised dat most handsome men are randy. sometimes its not them dat want to be but this days, our girls are getting bolder than some of their peers. If u are dating a handsome man, babes will always b chasing him, n most of the men will fall, breaking ur heart in d process, so sometimes its better 2 avoid all dat. But then again our men are even more scared cos, they hate it when it seems like he is being threatened by other guys.

u guys, sorry to bust your bubble, but that picture up there doesnt even come close to what edikang ikong looks like.

whatever u do, after chopping the ugu, spray some salt on it and squeeze very well, removes loads of the water from the leaves. that way the soup will be thick, with the water from the waterleaves and meat stock, and enough palmoil.

i am using a company network dat does not support webcams, i think its being firewalled, i want to know, is there a software dat can be used to break such firewalls?
