What is all this effort at discrediting a fighter pilot who has danced in the skies with ace fighter pilots of the Pakistan Air Force. He's word is good and NAF JF-17 is 4.5 generation.

The JF-17 in Nigerian service outstrips the Gripen in service with the SAAF by far. The former Pakistani Air Chief himself said the JF-17 now exceeds 4th Generation Aircraft in performance. He's on record saying so.

I hope you'd apologize when I bring evidence.

LoL an AESA radar is 10 times more effective than a mechanically-steered planar array. How can you say something which is hard to detect, has a better range in BVR mode, and more functionalities aren't better. Why are most aircraft upgrading to AESA or PESA radars. Because it provides better range, low detectability, less prone to failures, demands less maintenance between flights and is better resistant to ECM. Even the Pakistani say it themselves, the only GEn 4.5 is block 3. what more do you want to hear. The Americans or whosoever you have called are not biased because the definition of a gen 4.5 is global.

The Americans are the largest weapons merchant in the world and the most biased. You are only reinforcing what I said about the AESA in simple lay man's terms. The Pakistanis are simply giving the aircraft added advantage.

It depends on which F-16 you are talking about because the NAF JF-17 already exceeds the F-16 in three different areas of capabilities. Personally I have always preferred the JF-17 because I'm always wary of any US purchase. My point being to look how we can reach a deal with the Chinese and Pakistanis to set up an assembly plant here in Nigeria. I look more at the sovereign choice in weapons grade acquisitions than the asset in of itself.

I just watched the documentary of the JF-17 induction and I happen to know pilot that introduced the aircraft (Squad Ldr Abatuba) it's him and his squad that crashed those F7s during a training exercise for independence day celebration I think in 2018 or so..
Man is a seasoned pilot, amongst the best fixed wing Pilots in the Airforce.

And to think everyone around him including the Pakistanis were nodding in agreement to everything he said. We have to remind Nairalanders he was also trained by the Pakistanis on the JF-17 and knows better.

The basics of that is what the fighter pilot just told you. AESA in lay mans terms simply means more difficult to counter and detect doesn't mean multi-mode doppeler radar is any less effective in air superiority warfare.

The Pakistanis came up with an upper hand recently in aerial combat with the Indians.

Cockpit's of 5th Generation fighter jets are usually classified.

The F-22 cockpit used to be classified.

The SU-57 and J-20 cockpits are still classified.

The JF-17 is a light weight fighter jets, all information about this aircraft including what it's cockpit looks like is generally open information.

It's a capable jet, but it's not a high end fighter like the SU-30 or MIG-29.

In fact NAF already showed what the Jet's cockpit looks like in their recently released documentary.

That documentary showed you installation and activation modules not the active cockpit. The important aspects of this Jet are still classified. You can't claim anything to the contrary.

There's no viper killed. The NAF JF-17 is a 4.5 Gen cadre said the NAF fighter pilot himself flying it. I don't know why anyone would have a problem with that except that because it has a Nigerian tag with it. Last I checked I have no proof of you been an aviator in any measure. I'd take the word of the pilot anyday anytime.

Troops Eliminate Several ISWAP, ESN Commanders in Renewed Aerial and Land Bombardments

Recall that the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs have conducted several operational visits to the various theatres of operation. They have been interacting with commanders, troops and other stakeholders in various theatres. Also, a Security Summit was held in March 2021 at the National Defence College with relevant stakeholders in attendance. In accordance with the theme, the Summit was aimed at promoting understanding and collaboration of stakeholders and key players on the kinetic approach that is expected to facilitate public support for kinetic action in Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency (CTCOIN) operations in Nigeria. Furthermore, the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs also visited the 6 geo-political zones and had consultations with Government Officials, traditional and religious leaders and various interest groups for the purpose of sensitization on the current security challenges facing the country. These engagements were aimed at ensuring that the Military High Command comes up with improved ways and means of tackling the myriad of security challenges across the Country in partnership with other stakeholders.

2. In the same vein, on 5 May 2021, the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs had interaction with senior media executives in “Open Ears Press Dialogue”. As you are aware, some topical security issues were enumerated and discussed extensively during the interaction with the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs. Sequel to that, we are now resuming our usual updates on the unrelenting and committed efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in tackling security challenges facing our dear nation. Today’s update will cover the combined operational efforts of the land, maritime and air components across the country between 1 and 20 May 2021. These operational efforts of the Nigerian military are intended to achieve sustainable peace and to ensure normalcy returns to all troubled zones of our dear Country.

3. Within the period in focus, troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria remained resolute in their operations and engaged in series of kinetic and non-kinetic operations in all theatres of major and subsidiary operations. We have also worked cooperatively and in great synergy with other security and intelligence agencies to gain several successful and credible outcomes in our operations. For land operations, our gallant troops have been actively engaged in constant clearance patrols, ambush, raid, picketing, cordon and search operations as well as artillery bombardments. In the maritime environment, troops conducted various operations involving anti-piracy, anti-illegal oil bunkering, anti-crude oil theft, anti-pipeline vandalism and anti-smuggling operations. Moreover, the Air Component conducted comprehensive air operations, which included air patrols, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions, offensive air strikes, air interdictions, search and rescue operations as well as close air support for ground troops.

4. As a result of these operations, our troops neutralized scores of terrorists and bandits including senior BHT/ISWAP and ESN commanders as well as major bandit leaders. Similarly, many of their fighters were incapacitated and their camps destroyed through artillery and air bombardments. Additionally, troops rescued several kidnapped victims and arrested bandits/kidnappers informants and collaborators in different parts of the country. Our operations also inhibited activities of economic saboteurs as well as exposed and forestalled other criminal activities. Troops also recovered large caches of arms and ammunition as well as equipment, vehicles and livestock within the period. In the maritime domain, troops disrupted smuggling activities, immobilized illegal refining sites, arrested some perpetrators, seized illegally imported rice and other contraband goods as well as recovered petroleum products. Although some of our personnel paid the supreme price in the course of these operations, our dogged troops consistently demonstrated gallantry and resilience.

5. You are also aware that the Military High Command has renamed the ongoing counter-insurgency operation in the North East from Operation LAFIYA DOLE to Operation HADIN KAI. This was done to reflect the renewed spirit of jointness in the North East operational environment. The combined efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies demonstrate our commitment, synergy and determination to lay down our lives to protect our great Nation. We will continue to sustain the offensive posture and will not relent until peace is restored to every troubled zone in Nigeria. The general public is also assured of our commitment to protect our economic assets anywhere.

6. As you know, security is everybody’s concern, thus, we encourage every well-meaning Nigerian to support the efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies, by providing credible and timely information that will facilitate proactive engagements to address the threats. The plans and efforts of the criminal elements to perpetrate nefarious activities so as to discredit the government and efforts of security forces will in no way deter us from sustaining the tempo of operations. The High Command of the Nigerian Military wishes to thank the general public for their support and further solicit their cooperation in the fight against criminality in the Country. The Military High Command also commends all the gallant troops of the Armed Forces and personnel of other security agencies involved in various operations across the country for their resilience, doggedness and commitment. The most you often get is guess work...apart from what is basic performance parameters of any new platform individual buyers often tailor their purchase to suit their needs but yea intelligence agencies always spook which is why you conceal as much as you can.

I understand, but it has no radar reduction and no aesa radar....the block 3 is truly 4.5 generation......unless ours comes with whistles and bells, that are different from regular block 2. I was truly hoping there would he a chart to show avionics and weapons, like used to be done with the former CAS.

The Pakistanis and NAF can only let you know so much for buyer-user-privileges and strategic reasons. India an enemy of Pakistan is watching. It is a 4.5 generation fighter jet. Period. Radar absolvent is not rocket science. The JF-17 is built with materials taking that into consideration plus its size its nimble with excellent aerodynamics. This platform comes with multi-mode doppler radar and AESA radar is added advantage not an end in itself. There are other sub-systems both air and ground employed in a dense air combat environment. Stop putting sand where there is none. If they give you guys the moon you would still look for holes. We are good. Thanks.

Please who knows what weapons we are getting with the jet, to me that's the most important information at the moment.

Dunno why most struggle to accept the facts even while staring you in the face. It is open source intelligence that the JF-17 block 11 is a 4+ generation aircraft. The ace NAF agile fighter pilot himself said it's a 4.5 cadre generation fighter jet and went on to reel out its specific performance capabilities he's permitted to divulge which is just too impressive that it leaves one speechless. It is a net-centric platform able to share active data with other aircrafts and ground elements. And the list goes on and on. Having this capability in Nigeria and Africa without strings attached is truly a pure sovereign purchase and a good buy. Trust the NAF to maximize its powerful potential.
