Andy Uba Hails Buhari Over Chuba Okadigbo's widow's appointment


The Governorship Candidate of the All Progresives Congress (APC) in the November 6, 2021 Anambra guber election, Senator Andy Uba has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari over the appointment of Senator Margery Chuba-Okadigbo as the Chairman of the Board of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Uba stated this in a statement by the
Deputy Director of Media and Publicity, Senator Andy Uba Governorship Campaign Organisation (SAUGCO), Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia,

The appointment which was announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, has continued to attract commendations to President Buhari for finding the wife of his erstwhile running mate, the late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo worthy to lead the NNPC board.


Uba while hailing the President for the appointment, stressed that Sen. Margery Chuba-Okadigbo, a lawyer by training, is very sound and focused and therefore well prepared to lead the board to achieve her institutional mandate.*

Uba said ,"I must salute President Buhari for this appointment. Our people and all men and women of goodwill have reasons to hail Mr. President over this very appointment. And very importantly, putting a square peg in a square hole.

”I dare say that Senator Margery Chuba-Okadigbo’s appointment by the President represents an idea which time has come. No doubt, she will lead the board to achieve its institutional mandate and I pray that God grants her the wisdom to discharge this assignment with the huge responsibilities that go with it most effectively” Senator Uba stated.

The Igwebuike proponent went on to observe that, beyond the fact that Distinguished Senator Margery Chuba-Okadigbo is eminently qualified for the assignment, the pleasant development is also a pointer to what the late Sen. Chuba Okadigbo stood for while he was alive.
Buhari while inaugurating the NNPC Board on Friday, said: ”I expect the NNPC Limited to be mindful of our commitments to our net carbon zero aspirations and to ensure total alignment with the global energy transition realities.”*

He reminded the Board members that they came on board as a result of the reforms put forward by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.

Uba went agreed with the President that the inauguration of the board was a major step in the ongoing transition to a more viable petroleum industry that will attract investment to support our economic growth and generate employment to millions of our people.
