And I've not even started learning jQuery. Angular 2 is out and React is still there. Few years ago someone would have convinced me to learn CoffeeScript. While I was thinking about learning native application development, someone suggested Electron to me (the guys at GitHub made it) and now I hear of React Native. |

purplekayc:Uh, try googling that error message. |
purplekayc:Is your system a 64-bit system? Have you enabled 32-bit installs? If you haven't, try running sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386. Then update your sources using sudo apt-get updateand retry the installation. |
DanielTheGeek:sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. I hope the future stays bright. Thanks. |
C and C++ I need to learn some real bony concepts that require C (a language with little flesh and plenty of bones; ugh, pointers are still killing me). C++, do I need to explain this? I'll need it in school this semester. D This language is described as a nice improvement on C++ (C++ without the warts). It's new and I want to use it for some future side projects. Maybe a compiled language that supports web development and is not as ugly as C will be nice for speedy apps. I'm still researching it. Python Good for rapid prototyping and yet powerful. I want it to be my go-to scripting language besides JavaScript. I also has some useful modules and is actively developed (the reason I chose it over Perl). I may consider Perl later. Bash and PowerShell For easy system administration on Linux and Windows. That's a plan for later but on my list. I heard they are also good for delivering naughty, malicious payloads for pentesting. OCaml, F# and SML I chose these pure functional languages for my adventure into Functional Programming. Java No choice. Most of the programming modules I'll take in the coming semesters in school use this language. Processing For data visualisation and some other interesting things. It uses Java and Python programming languages, and there is also a JavaScript library for it (processing.js). Some logic programming languages and databases will follow later. |
Gargoylesmiles:For the sake of doing crazy things! Can you imagine this? Running VirtualBox in a Virtual Machine. I could not take it further (by installing another VM in VBox running inside a VM) because of hardware constraints. ![]()

blessedvisky:You cannot get rid of belly fat alone in a healthy way (the only way I know of involves surgery). Fat is distributed throughout the body, with more density in some areas. If you are trying to lose the fat, the results will show up slower in areas of high density: so you will lose belly fat slower if your body stores more fat around your abdomen. For a more desperate attempt at torching fat, see below

DharkPoet:I'd suggest you just reinstall Ubuntu. Do that first. |
KvnqPrezo:Screen shot of what? Just go to the website and REGISTER. @DanielTheGeek How's the move to improve this section going? Has the thread been abandoned just like blueyedgeek's thread? |
I've been registered for a while. I'll start contributing when I'm ready. |
EDIPROJECTS:Again, the capitalist growth imperative. |
dhtml18: Fixed! |
I thought we're done with this discussion? We agreed to put our energies into the new Nairaland instead. It's the better option since we'll be having a dedicated platform for the community and an active troll to keep us happy. Really, we need to improve these sections (Programming and Webmasters). Here's a previous discussion thread concerning this same issue. On that thread, I suggested it be pinned to the top of this section so we can keep the discussion going and improve incrementally. Right now, that thread is lost. www.nairaland.com/2148753/suggestions-how-improve-section Here goes my first suggestion: we need the ability to merge threads that are obviously similar. Brilliant suggestions were made on the thread I referenced above. We could just merge both threads and continue the discussion. It's important. @dhtml18 @Javanian @Jregz @thewebcraft @crotonite @blueyedgeek @jacob05 @Kodejuice @marine63 @FRInteractives @gimakon @blenyo11 @AAinEqGuinea @pcguru1 @GodMode @CodeHouse @GreatFes17 @Seun @HCpaul |
logicalhumour:I understand trust is important to you as it is to almost everyone who is not careless. If you don't mind learning and developing with me, you can PM me or just indicate here and I'll initiate contact. I also have some ideas I'm preparing to develop soon. I hope you keep a memo of your ideas. It helps. I get ideas frequently and I write them down in a note so I can look at them later and make better decisions on which ones are more viable. |
dhtml18:Here. I have nice ones for you. You can eat them alone or in combination with other food items. U fit take dis type sip garri, cook egusi soup, eat beans. In fact, just try it out and thank me later. @FrankLampard You can download the document for your SQL flavour for easy reference whenever you need it. I hope you don't mind joining dhtml18 at the table. He's not a greedy fellow and he has a nice snake meal ready.

DharkPoet: It's not right to diagnose people on the internet but what you are feeling may be the Impostor Syndrome. |
I doubt Peter was the rock Jesus declared to build His church on. If the church would be built on any man's regard, it would be the Lord in flesh, Jesus' name. The rock was the revelation and is the knowledge that Jesus is the son of God. That makes it the church of Christ, not Peter's. Peter wasn't the good shepherd; he was a servant of the good shepherd. There is only one head of the church --- Christ himself. |
More useful revenue is about to flow to the Indians for a project which may not be maintained by successive governments. It would profit us more to have Nigerians in charge of such projects or, at least, fill every role we're capable of in carrying out such projects. I hope this turns out well. India depends on Russia, France and other developed nation for fulfilment of advanced projects. We depend on them for more trivial projects like this. Well, what are we capable of? |
DanielTheGeek:The same RSUST |
Thanks for sharing such knowledge. They're very important in relating with your clients too. Also I think developers should read "Web Design for Developers" by Brian P. Hogan to have more ideas of interacting with clients. I found it useful and it improved my design aptitude a little. |
web4africa:Debian/GNU Linux Linux Mint Fedora |
nurain150:It depends on your system and you. Ubuntu is quite good. Are you using an old version? You should use a newer version (at least 14.04). |
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS + Windows 7? Just upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
Bluetooth works on mine and the experience is great for my needs. |
The academics-only friends: they talk to you only when they need assistance on a concept or topic they don't understand. After that you don't get close to even their friendzone. The social media friends: they don't talk to you in class or anywhere around the school but they become friendly to you on WhatsApp. Weird. The ambitious ones: these ones have only one requirement for friendship (actually there may be more than one) --- be ready to listen to them talk about their ambitions as often as you meet. They can cheer you up and encourage you to keep going on even when you feel empty. The selfish ones: the ones that want to have as much intellectual advantage as possible over every other person. They seldom share knowledge and feel threatened whenever other seem to be catching up with them. |
Have you received your ban notification? Nobody does this, ask dhtml18. You just dey waste time. You can make an app for gdevit.com or Nairaland.com instead. Those communities will appreciate it more than Nairaland. |
Sad news for pirates. The crackdown on piracy is getting tougher. Their efforts would yield better results if they were targeted at the corrupt corporations and public officers instead. Long live pirates of our virtual worlds. |
FrankLampard:You mean Discrete Mathematics? Lord help me! The lecturer taking the course is a maniac out to make us into robots that reproduce his lecture notes in tests and exams: no room for style or wider reading; just cram what he told you in class. But I love the course and I've got new books on it. |
ruphytelecom:How much does each cost? The 6-cell and the 12-cell. |
HP Pavilion dv6 battery.
How long can it last on a full charge? |
Who released you @dhtml18? It's too early na.
Baba teach us to troll that we may be do the good work perfectly. |
tr3y:From tables to floating divs and now it's flexbox. It's getting better. |
