In an easier and less arithmetic method, we can say thus...

6 trunks represents 6 elephant.

6X2 is 12 eyes of elephant.

6X4 is 24 legs of elephant.

40-24(the elephants legs) is 16 legs.

Since snakes has no leg, therefore 16 legs represents 8 ostrich.

16/2 is 8...therefore 16 legs represents 8 ostrich.

8X2 is 16 eyes of ostrich, which is for the snakes.

50-16-12 equals 22 eyes.

22/2 equals 11 eyes each for the snakes.

I believe its much easier to understand that way.

So

8ostrich =16eyes(2x8ostich eyes)
6elephant=12eyes(2x6elephant eyes)
So total of 50eyes- (16+12)eyes =22eyes belongin to d snakes

1snake =2eye; 22eye/2 =11snakes
