uk requested evidence to prosecute ibori from the agf and nigerian minister of justice, mr michael aondoakaa, "as per international rules, this is how it's done". since ribadu was the person that was working on this case, mr michael aondoakaa immediately sent a message to ribadu, requesting for the evidence for review and approval before sending it to uk. ribadu acknowledged the message from the agf but did not respond for many months. uk again sent another message to the agf requesting for this information for the second time. agf again immediately sent a reminder to ribadu. ribadu acknowledged the message for the second time, but still did not release the information to the agf. few months later ribadu sent a message to the agf informing him that he (ribadu) had sent the information directly to uk. agf was very upset and notified the president and others. friends and associates of ribadu also made it clear to ribadu that he shouldn't have disrespected not only the agf and the president, but the sovereignty of nigeria. ribadu did not care and felt firmed about his decision to send the information directly to uk. few weeks later, the judge in uk that was responsible for the case rejected the information ridadu had sent, the judge stated that the information did not have necessary signatures. therefore ibori's case was temporarily dismissed. the judge made it clear that he wasn't going to admit the evidence and proceed with the case without the signature of the agf. agf on the other hand was already very hot about the way ribadu had initially handled the situation. when the news got to nigeria, nigerians did not bother to understand the real story behind the situation, they immediately started to speculate that the agf and the presidency are fighting against "war against corruption in nigeria". this is not right, and instead of all of us being bias or choosing sides with a very little knowledge of the matter, i think we should all slow down and promote doing the right thing properly and always playing by the rules regardless of the matter. i honestly wished ribadu, as a bright and educated individual, could just relax and exhibit intellect, instead of overreacting and taking wrong steps like an illiterate man. this is a country's business we are talking about, but ribadu sees this business as his neighborhood's business and feels that he could handle it any way he wants. this is wrong and also defeats the purpose of fighting for the country. things did not have to go down this way, if he wants his legacy to stay alive for many years, he needs to cool down and go back to reevaluate his homework. not only nigerians are watching, but the entire world is also watching the display of stupidity at it's best. of course, we all see the scenario differently, but it is clear that ridabu is wrong. just because you're dedicated to fighting for your people and your country doesn't mean you should do so any how or any way. nobody is above the law, we are all nigerian citizens before anything else, the rules should always be followed. nigeria has turned to what it is today because everybody has different rules that they follow. this is the begining of ribadu's trouble with the fed govtmnt of nigeria. |
Okiro must wait for the court to determine Ribadu's ranksorry my dear, ribadu's future for the next 6 years has already been determined and i find it difficult that ribadu himself is too blind to see it. this is not his fight. |
http://odili.net/news/source/2008/nov/26/205.htmli blame nobody but ribadu himself. lately his unreasonable actions has shown us that the man has a lot to learn. whatever the matter may be, a smart person must not fall into the trap. ribadu is not only trying to fall into the trap, but also wants to make the trap his new home. i'm disappointed, i expected a lot better than what he has shown us so far. his close friends are even starting to path ways. |
i'm proud of you. |
he's a luckyman indeed, he's lucky that one or two people still recognize the great things he has done in the past. he could have been posted as an instructor for the next 6 years. you can never win a fight against a govtmnt that is controlled by 95% of your enemies. i just wonder how long it would take ribadu to recognize this fact. fighting for your right and fighting for your people is cool, but one must not be a big fool, because the same people you're fighting for will be the ones to stone you to death. and they will move on without any problem |
can Nigerians wake up and forget about Vendatta? can we Raise up against injustice and deceit? well Na God hand we deywe keep on mixing up things. ribadu is going through this mess because he refuses to follow the rules, the same rules that he helped to mold. i do not think it has anything to do with injustice or deceit. ribadu just needs to stop acting like an illiterate and follow the rules. it is clear to all that he has many enemies and this is why i think it is very important for him not to fall into this visible trap that they've setup for him. the man needs to grow up, do what needs to be done, play the game right and wait for his time. there is time for everything. |
instead of doing this back and forth about this man, why can't we settle down and carefully evaluate all the charges that fed govt or efcc has brought against this man? (1) ribadu wants power, but his seniors want him to wait for his time (2) ribadu continues to ignore the invitation of the efcc (3) ribadu has taken fed govt/ efcc to court to challenge his demotion decision. in my eyes what this man is going through is normal. you can not be disrespecting your seniors and expect things to be jolly like xmas. you can not be taking the institution that you still work for to court and expect fatherxmas to visit your at home. and you can not be intentionally ignoring the invitation of efcc and expect the president to give you an award. i don't care where you're from or who you are, it just doesn't work this way. for a minute we should all forget being bias and call it what it is. i could even remember ribadu as the chairman of efcc, how he forcefully arrested people using all kinds of military machineries just because these people ignored the invitation of this same efcc. ribadu needs to recognize that he's first a citizen of nigeria, he isn't better than any of us. the fed or efcc has the right to treat him like a criminal if he refuses to obey the rules. afterall, this was his mo "method of operation" during his time as the chairman of efcc NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW. so, why are we all acting like fools? just because you've done "a great job" doesn't give you permission to misbehave. american army that lost both legs in iraq must still follow the rules or else he will be jailed like any other person. it is that simple. |
you need not to read books and newspaper to identify ribadu's issues or trouble. ribadu as a man that wants great things in nigeria lacks many compulsory factors. he has a lot to learn. i will advise him to check out how obama discovered suitable way and manner to bring down the entire house without lifting a finger in usa just few weeks ago. we all know that change is very necessary in nigeria, but one must be smart, brave and careful when handling things over here. ribadu knows nothing about politics, he has no strategic plan to support himself and he also needs to work on his interpersonal skill and reduce those egoistic attitude. he thinks crying, screaming and disrespecting his seniors could send down the rain. sorry, it doesn't work that way. if you want to be true to your country, you must first be willing to be true to yourself. ribadu must follow the rules and regulations of the nigerian police without any questions, just like others. the man needs to regroup himself and slow down before he digs up his own grave. the people that got rid of abiola are still here today chilling, the same with the group that got rid of the president's brother, and the same goes with the group that brought down bola ige, and on and on. this is nigeria, you must use your head correctly. gragra method would only bring you down drastically. and when you're gone, people will forget you just like yesterday and move on. fighting for your right and fighting for your people is cool, but don't be a fool. |
many nigerians around the country are now beginning to speculate that ribadu's motive is no longer authentic. his fight and struggle with the fed govt/ effc is coming across to many as a fight for power, a personal desire and mission. please cast your vote SINCERE or INSINCERE |
http://www.sunnewsonline.com/" Ribadu shuns police invitation, risks sack By MURPHY GANAGANA, Abuja Tuesday, November 25, 2008 •Nuhu Ribadu Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section Despite the Federal Government’s directive to the management of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), to release his certificate of participation for the one year course he attended at the elite institution, which was rounded off last Saturday, reprieve has not come the way of former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who has been swimming in troubled waters since his unceremonious exit from office. Besides three queries hanging on his neck at the Police Headquarters in Abuja, the embattled ex-EFCC boss now risks sack over his alleged failure to honour an invitation by the Force authorities on Monday. Ribadu, according to top police sources, was invited to the Kam Salem building along with other police officers who attended the NIPSS to submit their projects. According to the sources, the other NIPSS graduates honoured the invitation for the routine project submission, but the ex-EFCC boss stayed away. It was gathered that Ribadu ostensibly saw the invitation as a ploy by the police authorities to arrest and make him answer to the queries earlier issued him, but which he ignored. Indeed, Daily Sun further learnt that had he appeared at the Force Headquarters, Ribadu would have been taken to task on why he decided not to respond to the queries issued him, with a senior police source saying," he made it look like he doesn’t see himself as a police officer any longer." Another issue the former EFCC chairman would have been made to respond to was petition a foreign donor agency sent through the police authorities, asking Ribadu to explain how funds it donated to the anti-graft agency were utilized. Besides his troubles with the police, the EFCC has commenced investigation into choice properties located in Abuja, the United Kingdom and Dubai, which are allegedly owned by him. This is even as the anti-graft agency is also probing into assets recovered from suspects convicted of corruption by the courts, as well as records of sale of such assets. The development is coming on the heels of a declaration by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to the effect that the erstwhile EFCC boss did not declare his assets as statutorily required before, during and after he left office as helmsman of the anti-corruption commission. In a letter dated October 24, 2008 and addressed to the EFCC Chairman, Mrs. Farida Waziri, the Code of Conduct Bureau categorically stated that "from our records, there is no evidence to show that Mallam Nuhu Ribadu declared his assets during his tenure as EFCC Chairman." Enclosed in the letter, signed by Chief Ikechi Iwuagwu, on behalf of chairman of the CCB, was a Certified True Copy of Assets Declaration Form in respect of Mallam Ribadu, just as it explained that it could not comment on a request for assets declaration by one Mr. Jimmy Lawal, as he is not a public officer, and therefore, outside the purview of the Bureau. The CCB’s clarification followed a request by the EFCC through a letter reference CR:3000/EFCC/X/ABJ/BF2/VOL.31/87, dated October 21, 2008, in which authorities of the anti-graft agency sought clarification on assets declared by Ribadu in furtherance of investigations over choice properties allegedly owned by him. Dependable sources close to the EFCC told Daily Sun that the on-going probe into his assets was necessitated by a petition written to the agency by two legal practitioners, alleging that Ribadu was involved in several sleazy deals, the proceeds of which he might have used in acquiring posh houses at the highbrow Maitama District of Abuja, London , and Dubai . It was further gathered that Ribadu may be dragged before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), on charges of official misconduct and corruption. Specifically, the petitioners pointed at a duplex on No. 18, Mambilla Street, Maitama, Abuja, two properties at Leeds and Chelsea in the London, and a mansion located at Palm Beach Estate, in Dubai. Although the EFCC had summoned Ribadu for clarification on some issues, sources said the invitation was not connected to the present probe on his properties. EFCC spokesman, Femi Babafemi, could not be reached for comments at press time, but a senior official of the commission confirmed the development. "The initial invitation sent to him has nothing to do with these petitions. It had to do with records of sale of properties which were not available in our books. There were no records of assets recovered, who bought what, and for how much. There were some highest bidders during the sale of confiscated properties who were denied purchase, and there were also litigations in court which needed to be defended," said a top EFCC official who pleaded anonymity. |
We didn't get to see Ribadu witch-hunt Buhari, Col Umar Dangiwa, Gani Fawhemni, Wole Soynika, late Wada Nas, Dim Ojukwu, Sen. Ken Nnamani, CC Onoh, late Adesanya, Comrade Adams Oshiomole and list goes on. These are avowed critics of OBJ, they have never seen anything good in Obj, yet Ribadu didn't go after them. Don't you know why? He has nothing on themmy friend youngies, so, u think all these names you've listed are clean people? have you asked yourself why he didn't go after obasojo or ibb or iyabo obasojo or adediibu and many other openly corrupt nigerians? have you also asked yourself why he openly declared obasojo as a clean nigerian? do you think ribadu knew anything about the election rigging all across nigeria? please, let us use our common sense correctly. we all know that nigeria as a whole is a dangerous zoo, but ribadu also happens to be one of the dangerous animals in the zoo. ribadu did ok, he did his best, but his best is not the best we should be worshipping. |
if the election takes place in nigeria, ribadu will not even get 20% of the overall votes. many forgot that ribadu is still a product of obasojo. today, obasojo still wears the crown of one of the most corrupt human being. i also believe that most of ribadu's supporters do not live in nigeria. it is widely known that many people from everywhere in nigeria have already turned against ribadu. it is still a popular conclusion in nigeria that if it wasn't for ribadu senseless, irresponsible and reckless actions, many of these government officials would have been jailed by now. i think this is one of the purpose of the effc invitation. it is also openly known by many, including ribadu's close friends that ribadu intentionally left messy files behind. i'm not trying to present any bias, but only want the truth and also to be reasonable. |
my friend nuzo, let me first correct myself: i said, yaradua has done what a great president should have done, but ribadu must recognize that releasing his certificate means nothing. it is open to the public that many are against this man. and the last time i checked this is still nigeria we are talking about. the way things go down in this country, it is a matter of time, if ribadu doesn't slow down, re-group and understand what he's up against, i'm afraid, he will just be another forgotten warrior, just like the rest. sometimes one has to be smart and pick a better fight. this fight is not the right one for ribadu. my advise to him will be to relax and allow things to come together instinctively. forcing things and being unreasonably obstinate to his bosses would only damage his case and further make himself look devious. |
yaradua has do what a president should have done, but i hope ribadu clearly reads the writing on the wall, these people will finish him if he doesn't slow down and use his head correctly. he needs to chill-out for his own good. |
there isn't any special treatment for anybody, nobody is above the law: by ribadu sep 06 2006 |
http://odili.net/news/source/2008/nov/24/605.html Ribadu in Abuja, wanted by EFCC From Lanre Adewole, Chris Agbambu and Isaac Shobayo Monday, November 24, 2008 AS controversy trails the whereabouts of former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, indications have emerged that he has since moved back to Abuja after being stopped from graduating from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS) last Saturday. Nigerian Tribune learnt authoritatively that he left Jos, Plateau State, escorted by a convoy of several vehicles with admirers and youths who wanted to prevent him from being arrested. Also, despite his claim that he was not notified of the decision to stop him from graduating, fresh information coming out on the graduation controversy suggested that he might have been hinted of the decision to stop him from graduating last weekend, based on his alleged non-qualification for the title that the completion of the studies would have conferred on him. This came as sources revealed that he was still being wanted by the EFCC over certain issues contained in his handover notes, which bordered on recovered monies and property. Earlier reports had it that he was arrested after he was asked to leave the hall where the ceremony was being held, but all the security agencies had denied having him in their custody. Checks with some of his close friends revealed that he might not have been arrested at all after accepting to leave the graduation venue and might have decided to maintain a low profile until all the noise surrounding his studies at Kuru subsided. Though his friends refused to disclose his exact whereabouts, their concern was more on why he was treated the way he was and when his whereabouts was sought, one of them replied, “that does not even matter now. The question is why did they treat him that way?” Another source, however, claimed that Ribadu might have deliberately created the scene at NIPPS on Saturday because he had allegedly been hinted that he would not be graduating after the Police Service Commission allegedly wrote to the institute that he could only be conferred with the title that comes with the completion of the programme, when he must have been duly promoted a Commissioner of Police. Ribadu was accused by the source of a ploy to remain an issue in the media by going to the graduation ceremony in mufti when he allegedly knew that he would not graduate with others. It was gathered from another source that Ribadu was not aware of the decision to stop him and that he did not wear his police ceremonial attire because he was advised by some of his top lawyer friends not to so do. The rank that would go with the ceremonial attire was said to have been the main reason for his decision to go in mufti, because he was said to want to avoid a situation whereby he would be accused of not respecting the decision of constituted authority if he went with the rank of an Assistant Inspector General of Police. A source noted he would have been arrested if he had attempted wearing the AIG rank. He was also said to have been advised that wearing a Deputy Commissioner of Police rank would have weakened his case against his demotion currently before a Lagos High Court. On his invitation by the EFCC, a source disclosed that he was asked to come and clarify certain issues in his handover notes, on which the former acting Chairman, Ibrahim Larmode had been summoned and questioned. Ribadu had gone to court to stop his invitation by EFCC, a request rejected by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. He was to appear before the commission penultimate Thursday but pleaded to have it shifted to the week’s Saturday, only for him to serve the commission with court’s processes last week. Commission’s spokesperson, Mr. Femi Babafemi, confirmed that the commission still needed him to clear the air on some administrative issues and that there was no plan to arrest him. |
yes, thank you. |
nigerians tend to follow one another (blind men following blind men), it is a shame that we forgot yesterday so quick. the same ribadu that arrested and dragged people through out the streets of nigeria without any solid justification is now crying like a rapped prostitute. if the man cares so much about nigeria, then he should have shown a great example by respecting the law, the same way you and i respect the law. just incase you didn't know: the man was invited by efcc/ fed govt over and over for the past few months, but he ignored the invitation till few weeks ago when he wrote them a letter. the law is law, ribadu should not be treated differently from any one of us. ribadu is a big fool that finds it difficult to follow the same rules he once tried to push insider people's throat. we all need to clearly understand that nigeria is bigger than any one of us, i think ribadu deserved what he got and will continue to get if he doesn't obey the rules. |
no need to be shocked. it makes no-sense for us to pass judgement on what isn't clear to all. i think there is more to this story, just because fed gvt isn't saying much doesn't mean this latest move is baseless. i'm just disappointed to discover that ribadu isn't that smart afterall. it is also very disappointing and disgraceful to witness for the past few months how badly and desperately ribadu has been seeking for power. is it all about nigeria or all about ribadu? someone needs to advise this man that he can no win a fight against the invisible men. for the sake of his children and wives, ribadu needs to just vanish from sight for now if not forever. he has unnecessarily stepped on too many wrong toes, he has intentionally detonated multiple bridges, he can not win, and he will not win. i wish him all the best, but honestly the man wouldn't recognize himself when they are finished with him. |
not that kind of meeting. i mean meet to further have political discussion one on one. someone interesting enough to meet. i have several, but i have also reduced my number to just 2. |
i do not do a lot of posting but i must admit that i come here up to 4 times a day to read and learn more about my people and my country. after reading so much on this forum and trying to match post with identities, my mind is starting to play tricks on me. i'll love to meet all, but just curious, who would you like to meet and why. name 2, a male and a female. |
real politicians have a plan for tomorrow and use it in their campaigns.yes, they do. but you are referring to something totally different. |
anyway, i just wish that the right man wins |
It seems you are more accustomed to Nigerian politicians.what about the mind of the real politicians (the one you or me can not see)? |
@Big 1you have a very gd point. i also think minus ibbness, big b is ok. |
i have a funny feeling that obama needs much more than j biden to get the job done. iwas hoping that hillary was picked or at least acknowledged to a certain degree. i hope it doesn't come back around to bite obama for totally ignoring hillary. |
it is either you did not read this topic properly or you did not understand the content befpre posting your comment, because your post or rsponse doen't make much sense. |

eventhough ribadu took many wrong and unnecessary steps during his days as the efcc chairman, but this shouldn't overshadow other things he did well. by the way, who was the person that initiated this illegal promotion in the first place? i think nigerians should identify this individual and he should be held responsible. |
i do not know why you people find it impossible to respect each other's view. this governor has looted 1bn in just 11 months and all you could do is fight and call each other names. 1,000,000,000 in N11 months = N90,909091m per month. this is a sad news. |
Someone steals my possession, uses the proceeds to start a business and I am supposed to congratulate him for the success of his business. What an absurd set of people.could you please further break this down. because from what i know, adenuga has been a successful wealthy man before some of us were born. it is unreasonable and unfair to continue to speculate with a baseless proof. some of us did not even know this name few years ago, but adenuga has been in the mix doing big thing for almost 30 years. it will be nice for you to make your proof to be known if you have one. just don't go around jumping on different bandwagons saying things just because you heard him or her said it first. i'm not calling the man a saint or an evil, i'm not in a position to do so, but i'm very proud of what glo is doing in nigeria and in africa. |
all i can say is I'm proud of this organization and the least i could do as a proud Nigerian is to give my complete support to anything that brings positive attention to Nigeria. if glo's product is inferior i do not think ghana or republic of ben will be fighting to get them into their country. we have gone through too much in this country, we've been called criminals, 419ers, liars, incapable, uncivilized and i think it is time for us to welcome anything that will uplift our bombarded image. i think glo is doing very well in this department. |
