So, because we have bad leaders in Nigeria we all should be running out of the country whenever our actions are questioned?
Way to go, people.

We shall get there as soon as we are all willing to put our sensitive feelings aside and concentrate on identifying what is right and what is wrong.
I hate to state that what we are reading on this topic is exactly how our leaders view things in Abuja; and this is why nothing is done or will ever be done.

Instead of all of us to pay more attention to what David has done wrong and how it could be prevented in future, we are all busy defending David just because John who happens to be challenging David's illegal actions is also a bad leader. And this how it goes in Abuja today.
Nobody has the wisdom and courage (both here and in Abuja) to say fuc k David and fuc k John, this country belongs to us and we are ready to make things right.

It is very sad.
amen

I think together when we become smarter and mature enough to condemn all these people: from AGF to Ibori, from Ribadu to El-rufai, from Obasanjo to IBB, from Odeli to Tinubu, from Akala to Kalu and so on; Our country, Nigeria will be rescued from the blood suckers.
i completely agree

@topic,
stupidity wearing the uniform of wiseness has taken over nigeria and our grammatical ability has become the basis to rate our abilities as a pupil hence nigerians have left the objects for shadows.
ribadu and everyother self acclaimed servant of nigeria both past and present must be ready to account for their stewardship because nigeria is not a private company of a particular group.
thanks you, sir

We are so sentimental in our perceptions that we have lost all objective judgement. That is why many ignorantly celebrate Ribadu. What I learnt from his fight against corruption is that you can keep stealing public funds, provided you remain loyal to the powers that be. This is the man many ignorantly celebrate as the anti-corruption czar. We are very eagar for a change. Corruption has done us. Anyone who therefore packages himself as an anti-corruption fighter is received with warm arms. Ibori lost his immunity on 29th May, 1999 when he ceased to be the Governor of Delta State. Why did Ribadu wait till December 2007 before he arrested him? Ribadu was playing politics and scheming. It was when he lost out that he chose to move against Ibori. Imagine him receiving petitions on corruption against two individuals and investigating and prosecuting one while leaving the other one because the latter one is loyal to the powers that be. Is this how to fight corruption? Think, Nigerians, think. What we need is a system and structure manned by a courageous and uncompromising person who will do the work without fear or favour, not in the mould of Ribadu the ambitious politician. What goes round comes around. He should come home and answer to the charges prefered against him. All these comments of sentiment will take us no where!
you can say it again.

I believe that El Rufai wrote a letter about returning to Nigeria. Why is he still outside. Some jobless Diasporans are saying that other people should be arrested first. As an armed robber, I should tell the police to arrest other robbers first?

This celebrity show will not get them anywhere. If they are innocent, they should go and prove it in the court.Did Ribadu ever give anybody the chance to prove his innocence. He was usin Gestapo tactics when he had the power. El Rufai was demolishing peoples' houses without regards to the courts.

xNigeria issues international arrest warrants for el-Rufai and Ribadu
x | December 10, 2009

The Nigeria Police Force has issued international arrest warrants for the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Malam Nuhu Ribadu and the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Nasir el-Rufai.

The Force Headquarters issued a signal for their arrest and said that Interpol was contacted because of a court order requesting the men's extradition for failing to appear in court over EFCC cases.

On November 20, 2009, the Code of Conduct Tribunal ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ogbona Onovo, to arrest Malam Nuhu Ribadu for refusing to appear before it to answer charges of non-declaration of assets filed against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau.

The tribunal’s Chairman, Justice Constance Momoh, issued the order after she was told that Ribadu was not before the tribunal to answer charges of non-declaration of assets filed against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau.

The Force Headquarters signal titled, "Watch-Listing of Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai and Nuhu Ribadu,” asked Interpol to arrest them “immediately.”
It read, “We are watch-listing the above-named persons for acts contrary to sections 96, 120, 123 and 124 Cap 532, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990 and some provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000,”

Critics say the cases against Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai and Nuhu Ribadu are politically motivated

Don’t disrupt zoning system - North warns - We stand by constitution - N/Assembly - Watch your comments on Yar’Adua, Atiku cautions politicians
By Leon Usigbe, Abuja - 04.12.2009

AGAINST the growing calls for ailing President Umaru Yar’Adua to resign to pave the way for the assumption of the presidency by Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan, the Northern Union has cautioned over any attempt to disrupt the North-South zoning system which, it observed, was meant to address the political peculiarities of the country and maintain its stability.

It has also condemned calls for President Yar’Adua to resign as a result of his ill health, pointing out that though it shared the concern for efficient, effective and good governance, such calls were not only hasty, but inimical to the peace, unity and continued stability of the country.

According to a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, which was signed by its chairman, Chief Patrick Adaba, the group restated its belief in constitutionalism, but observed that “certain peculiarities of any nation also play a vital role in bringing about amity and peaceful coexistence among the peoples of that nation.”

It said that, “it should be understood by those who love this country that one of such peculiarities upon which the unity and stability of our country are hinged is power rotation between the North and South. This is an extra-constitutional arrangement to deal with Nigeria’s peculiarities of pluralism, a practice not peculiar to Nigeria

US worried over Yar’Adua’s health - We’re waiting for doctor’s report - FG - Govs meet over president’s health; Consult VP today - AC blasts FEC, says it is unprincipled
From Taiwo Adisa, Lanre Adewole and Adewale Ajayi - 04.12.2009

THE concern over the health of President Umaru Yar’Adua is fast spreading beyond the shores of Nigeria, as the United States is said to be worried about the president.

According to information reaching the Nigerian Tribune, the United States is particularly bothered about the likely implications the Yar’Adua’s health would have on Nigeria’s fledgling democracy, especially against the current controversies over who should succeed him in the event of his resignation.

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekwe-remadu, who confirmed the fears of the United States to newsmen in Abuja, said the US congressmen pointedly told him of their concern over the health of President Yar’Adua.

Ekweremadu just returned to the country after a trip to the United States of America, where his Committee on Constitution Review met with the US Congress Committee on Foreign Relations

PoliticsWhy Is Yaradua Isn't Stepping Down by cre8tivity(op): 3:12am On Nov 28, 2009
the man is sick and needs all his energy to maintain a good health. it is also obvious that leading a nation like nigeria is the last thing anyone with health issues should be wishing for.
i'm just curious to know what exactly does yaradua need from leading this country? is leading ungrateful citizens like nigerians really worth anyone's life? why is our president refusing to step down even when it is clear to the world that the man needs to focus on maintaining a good health more than anything else?

a good source from abuja told me that yaradua's refusal to step down is bigger than what we see or know. And where our vp is from is definitely one of the reasons.

I am surprised that some people are wishing me dead, I am still alive -
November 17, 2009

Mrs. Maryam Babangida, wife of General Ibrahim Babangida, Nigeria's ex-military president, responded to rumours that she had had died at the University of California (UCLA) Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles over complications from terminal cancer. She called the rumours “untrue, cruel, malicious and calculated to create mischief.”

A press statement issued on behalf of the family said “As people of faith, the Babangida family believes that at the appointed time, every soul shall revert to its creator because from Allah we came and to Allah we shall return.

“The IBB family are aware that rumour- mongering of the death of prominent persons in our midst is a pastime because our dear late president of the First Republic, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, and our current President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, were rumoured dead many times while they were very much alive.”

“We do not have enough words to thank you for your expressed concern”.

we need to stop thinking backwards, roll up our sleeves and find a better method to move forward. rejoicing that another human beings (good or bad) is fighting for her life is definitely not the way.

Maryam Babangida

Mrs. Maryam Babangida was born in November, 1948. She had fairly humble beginnings in her hometown of Asaba where she received part of her early education before moving up north to Queen Amina's College Kaduna for her Secondary education. She went on to graduate as a Secretary at the Federal Training Centre, Kaduna and later obtained a diploma in secretaryship from Laselle University, Chicago, USA as well as a Certificate in Computer Science from the NCR Institute in Lagos.

On September 6th,1969, two months before her 21st Birthday, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (then a Major), took time off the war front to marry her. Their marriage has been blessed with four children: 2 boys, Mohammed and Aminu and two girls, Aisha and Halima. Apart from a brief stop at a career in her line of training, before and shortly after marriage, Mrs. Babangida remained a full time housewife, establishing and nurturing the home front until the youngest had fairly come of age.

Mrs. Babangida, considered to be one of the greatest women in Africa today, made that significant sacrifice in her staunch belief that the family unit is the most crucial factor in the quality of society and of mankind and that the woman is the central anchor of the unit.

By 1983, she however was again ready for an active career, beyond the confines of the home front when her husband became the Chief of Army Staff on December 31st that year. She became the President of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA). It was during her twenty month presidency that her leadership qualities were first unfolded to the public as she mobilised her colleagues to embark aggressively on public spirited ventures which included building schools, clinics, women's multipurpose training centres and child day care centres. In that short period she hit the National limelight by transforming the image of the Association from one of redundancy and relative obscurity to a credible and action oriented body, thus winning more members and public goodwill in the process. Thus, by the time she became first lady shortly after, she had been well prepared to repeat her pioneering success at the national level.

An incisive thinker and passionate lover of nature, gardening, birds and home decorations, she is "a poet's dream" and with disarming charm and an admirable deft blend of winning wit, quiet confidence and child-like grace, she has brought the institution of first-ladyship out of the closet to active participation in nation building.

Such is the strength of her appeal that a usually catchy female columnist once wrote that Maryam Babangida has "the regality of a modern day Queen Amina of Nigeria, the determination of India's Indira Gandhi, the eloquence of a veteran demagogue and the elegance of Queen Cleopatra of Egypt".

Even these hallowed models would themselves have smiled with envy.

without any question, the evidence is strong and it's against ibori, but the case has been compromised as usual by ribadu's unprofessional ways of operation.
PoliticsRe: Ribadu Lodged $15m Ibori’s Bribe With CBN – Waziri by cre8tivity(f): 4:07pm On Nov 02, 2009
the only reason why i do not think ribadu collected the bribe:
ribadu had access to unlimited amount of dollars/naira during his time as the efcc boss (in fact he kept some of this money to himself), therefore, it makes no sense for him to collect the bribe for himself.
the only doubt here is the fact that ibori and ribadu were very good friends at one time (fact).
so, looking at ibori's record from 1990 to 2007, any reasonable or honest nigerian wouldn't want to associate himself to such a corrupt individual.
ribadu also asked ibori to assist him in becoming the next igp (fact).

there is a good possibility that ribadu may have collected the money only to use it as a tool to blackmail ibori

ok, now you sound like we are finally getting there.

Only a court of law can prevent him from leaving the country and no court has done so in his presence or absence so come up with another fraudulent claim for me to destroy.
this is exactly my point: only the court of law can prevent him from leaving the country. in fact, ribadu clearly knows this and this is one of his main reasons why he refuses to show up in court. he knows the rules, he knows the process; he had also used the process on others in the past.
ask any lawyer what is usually the first step of the court of law, if you are being investigated or any charges is brought against you (as a former or current top government official) .
your passport is always the first thing to be surrendered.
i'm still waiting to hear from you regarding akingbola's situation. i wonder if you see any thing in common? i also wonder if you realize why ribadu should be stopped quickly.
we will get somewhere as soon as we all realize that ribadu will come and go, but nigeria will stay here for ever. we must not encourage stupidity from anyone regardless of anything.
embracing ribadu's shenanigans is the height of encouragement of stupidity and degration of the sovereignty of this nation.

bode george was one of the people ribadu protected.
bode george stole our money and abused his position not during Shagari's regime, but during Obasojo's regime, under ribadu's watch.
mr. super hero spent 98% of his time chasing around his boss's #1 enemy (atiku).

and please let us all cut the bull shit, bode george was a notorious corrupt govt official during ribadu's time as the chairman of efcc, but mr super hero didn't have the ball to call him out.
fyi: obasojo had 4 best friends, bode george was one of them.

please stop posting if you know nothing about what really went down.

and please note that i do not dislike ribadu, i just happen to love nigeria (my country) a little bit more than a common cocky hypocrite.

when did a free citizen need the 'consent' of the federal government to leave his country?
debosky, what kind of post was that? are u ok?

as a top federal government official, if you're being investigated by the fed govt for anything, the first step is to surrender your international passport. but ribadu has refused to show up in court because he clearly knows how these things work.

.
PoliticsRe: Nuhu Ribadu Reacts To Bode George's Sentencing by cre8tivity(f): 2:39pm On Oct 30, 2009
debosky darlin:
what do you think about the situation with former chief executive officer of intercontinental bank, dr. erastus akingbola?
fyi: akingbola flees to uk, he refuses to show up in court, he's very scared for his life, he feels that his enemies want him dead, he's also planning to continue his education at the oxford university.
is this what we want in this country?
how long can we allow this to go on?
@debosky: what do you think about this guy (akingbola)?
why do you think this guy thinks he can get away with his crime if he uses this strategy well?
do you see anything in common when we mention ribadu's name?
how many more do you think would use the same game or tactic ribadu is currently using to hide from the law?

this is why nigerians (who truly love and respect this country) must make sure ribadu has his day in the court of law just like any other nigerian.
PoliticsRe: Nuhu Ribadu Reacts To Bode George's Sentencing by cre8tivity(f): 2:14pm On Oct 30, 2009

i thought by now most of these worshippers would have realized their stupidity, but i guess, i was wrong. they must be waiting for something else.
fyi: ribadu has failed to show up at the court of law (at least 5 times, all within 18 months). do you know what happened to people that failed to acknowledge ribadu's invitations?
ribadu left the country without the consent of the fed govt. is this how things are done?

i haven't heard a single credit for the new efcc chairman yet. instead, we are here as usual wasting our time giving attention to mr attention seeker (ribadu).
this lady has done something ribadu did not or couldn't do. and i think she deserves an acknowledgement for this great accomplishment.
bode george was professionally arrested, he was given bail, his trail date was set, he showed up for his trial, he presented his case, he was convicted and now he's wearing his orange prison attire.

during this process, we did not hear that efcc used machine guns to arrest anybody, we did not see efcc boss on the tv every second during the trial, nobody fell off from the back of a pickup truck, nobody tried to be a super hero;
every unit just handled their position like bunch of professionals.
if things are done like this in nigeria and mr super hero is kind enough to just hide his face, may be the rest of these corrupt officials would join bode george some day.
as promised before, i do not want to rubbish this man, but please let us all ask dr. ribadu with utmost respect to stay away and allow nigerians to continue to fight this war to the best of their abilities.
i am sure that we'll get it right sooner or later, but we must not allow the interuption of hypocrite, who finds it very difficult to obey the same laws he embraced or promoted not too long ago.
