ribadu is a good man, but he made mistakes just like others he was running after during his time as efcc chairman. instead of feeling too big or too drunk on power, he could have just simply followed the rules. promulgate your assets before and after. it is a very simple rule. |
@topic what else is new? |
not bad atall. |
i disagree. i think the root of our problem is unnecessary poverty. when there is poverty, 90% of the time nothing else matters. poverty brings greed, corruption and diluted culture. |
The only reason why Ribadu is being considered is simply because we haven't seen a great leader in this country in a very long time. Ribadu is absolutely not a leader. It is possible that he could be a great adviser to the top in certain area, anything else will b e too much for him to handle. best point so far. just because you attempted to do you duties correctly doesn't necessarily automatically make you a presidential candidate. we deserve more than that. nigerians should quit quickly settling for anything. |
Resun: your statement is very foolish, and I will give you an example why: oh my god, this man go kill me |
again isn't about ribadu and it was never so. it is all about the future of our country and the standard we are setting up for ourselves. whether this is a bad or good news time will tell. but we can not move forward by doing the same shit over and over (sweeping shit under the carpet and thinking we are moving forward). nigerians are not fools (anymore), we deserve an explanation. We want to know what went down, we want to know why ribadu ran out of the country for almost 2 yrs. what or who was behind the show and why he's allowed to return @ this time? we can not continue this way in this country; things need to be addressed clearly and the great citizens deserve to know what is going on in this country. we are sick and tired of this foolish game, the game that hasn't brought us anything fruitful for the past 50 yrs. if things are not clearly addressed or completely resolved, nigerians will experience the same thing again, it is a matter of time. depilot, i totally agree with you; the big question is: who is next and when exactly is this same shit will happen again. |
i think dblambo is very dull. |
if adenuga is spending money that belongs to nigeria, obama must also be doing the same thing in america.I have never in my life come across a human being or a nigerian or a wealthy man that works as hard as adenuga.the man works day and night like an animal. he knows what he wants and how to accomplish every single goal. it is sad for anyone to say this man is not spending the money he continues to work hard to get. ignorance is a terrible thing. Whether you accept it or not adenuga will forever be a nigerian icon many generations will look up to. his drive and determination to be successful will not be matched for many years to come. so keep on hating while adenuga continues to make it big all across the world. pretty soon I predict that bella will be next on your list to bash for not smiling enough. god deliver my people! |
i was there and it was an unbelievable event. it is the event of the century, and this is not because of how much money adenuga spent, but simply because of the classy touch, great management, and the surprise they released toward the end of the night. everybody and their mothers were there. adenuga's event brought all the big shots to the same level as ordinary people. even babangida and atiku were just sitting next to just average citizens. It was a very nice wedding, you can not ask for more. beyonce was not there, and i was very dissapointed. beyonce was the main reason why i went. everlasting love life to bella and jay. |
may be now is the time for the same senate to give each other 7-year utimatum to get the poor electric power supply right in nigeria. it's ok to ignore these fools, but never ignore our sweet country. nigeria will be back at the top only if we all want this to happen. and stepping on this country is not the right path to glory. america must be challenged in a sensible way by a group of people that knows 1 or 2 things about having a great integrity. i think this is where we all come in. we have to stand together and take control of our image around the world. the leaders will not do it, even if they try, they will not be taken serious. |
@topic, no disrespect to goodluck or anybody else, but it totally makes no difference. efcc will still be fumbling, politicians will continue to steal, poor power supply will stay alive, poor nigerians will still be hungry, the fat cats will continue to make more money and nairaland members will continue to bash the new president. |
my respect to you Johnpaul88, but do you honestly think that at this point we have anything to lose? do you truly see anything different from being ruled by the military guys? i do not care who takes over, i just think nigerians deserve something better than what we are currently experiencing. |
in fact, this is the perfect time for military to take over. their premise for taking over will be things are out of control, every single politician in nigeria are heavily corrupt and currently there is no leader leading this country. |
whitehouse and others around the world will welcome the move if it is true. enough is enough with this half baked democrazy. |
a country that has no law has no crime. |
a country that has no leader has no future |
@topic: i will not be surprised, in fact, i've predicted this couple of weeks ago. but i will check and get back to you. |
china has one of the most unpleasant leaders around the world, but yet the country continues to prosper in the eyes of or against all odds. anyone that gives credit to chinese government for her great accomplishments around the world is a fool. all the credits go to the citizens that continue to push through even when things in their country are far from being perfect. this is called discipline and dedication. i predict that in a very short period real democracy will be introduced in china and this country will immediately take over the world. they will become the super power of the world. leaders in china are cruel and human rights law is clearly redefined in this environment, but still the leaders and the citizens (followers) completely understand their responsibilities. in nigeria, the citizens are as bad as their leaders; but nobody has the sincerity to address this issue. i’m afraid that regardless of the name of our next president or where the president is from, nigeria will continue to fall behind till the citizens and the leaders understand and embrace their responsibilities. blind men leading blind people; who is to blame when the fat pot breaks? |

mikeansy:mikeansy dear: do you want me to give you the story of 53 suitcases or the 112 "ghana must go" bags or the 68 abuja invisible projects or the 45 nigerian airports contracts or the 16 port authority projects or the jos/ abuja way contract? if it will make you happy, please select your choice. my point is, every nigerian has his or her own corruption stories and we can all tell these stories for another 49 yrs, while our leaders continue to negotiate the political positions and make more money like there is no tomorrow. it's up to you and i. instead of all of us to concentrate on the topic and deal with the real issue, most of us are busy looking for ways to boost up our self esteem, by attempting to put each other down. guess what mikeansy? you won again. |
Beaf:dear, please pay attention, i said we need someone like idiagbon. the 53 suitcases incident did not happen during buhari and idiagbon's regime. there is no different between the 53 suitcases and the missing 17b dollars (money for the electric power supply project). there is no need to waste time comparing bad things or horrible past, the fact is out there, the politicians see leading this nation as money making business. |
nice wkend, guys. |
i have a bad news for you guys "the supporters of our half baked demokrazy", your leaders for the next 24 years have already been picked. so go and vote my friends. there is nothing better than a demokrazy we currently have, where our votes are invisible at every level. why do you think our president has refused to temporarily release his power to his vp? answer: our vp is not on the list of our selected leaders for the next 24 years. cry if you want, but i know what i'm talking about. |
that was the only time some of our laws were acknowledged. our main problem in nigeria today is simply lawlessness. if our laws are sincerely recognized by everybody, half of our problems will be solved. do you get it? |
the best leader this country has ever seen was the combo of buhari and idiagbon (military admin). for the past 49 yrs could someone else identify another or better admin. and correction: i'm not trying to defend military regimes, but corruption in nigeria became alive during shagari's administration. what you guys are busy recommending will not happen for the next 50 yrs. all you will be doing is the same shi t we have been doing for many years, whining and complaining on the internet or in a closed door with very little real action. what we need in this country at this time is a military take over (of course, by a dedicated, disciplined and sensible individual). if you believe that politicians have decent plans for this country, then we are fooling ourselves as usual. a drastic change is needed urgently in nigeria and military is the only institution that will make this happen successfully. we need iron hand, we need no nonsense leader, we need a real leader and we need to recognize our laws again. don't be silly, this isn't demokrazy; this is money making business only for the politicians. i know this because i've seen it. |
citizenY:if you're not married, i'm sure that you have a mother or sisters; therefore, don't be foolish, show some respect and concentrate on the topic. enjoy the rest of the weekend. |
No because those your uncles participated and brought us to this levelcome on, let us have discussion like sensible adults; there is no need to get personal and state untrue things like a lost fool. don't you think so? |
i believe 2 wks ago i recommended military take over and my profile was disabled by nairaland admin. they might disable it again, but it doesn't matter because the facts are out there. any blind individual can see that things are not together in nigeria. our laws are weak and being stepped on by everybody (including you and i) and how long can we continue to live in the darkness? i don't care who takes over, i just want a dedicated, disciplined and sensible citizen to lead this country. the last time i checked, military institution is the only entity in nigeria that can make this happen. they can rearrange and reintroduce our laws. a country that has no law has no criminals; and this is why people like ibori, odeli, ribadu, obasojo and others are operating freely in nigeria today. |
the best way to answer your question is, regardless of who is leading nigeria or will be leading nigeria, i will be fine. but when we look at the bigger picture one has no choice but to pause and ask how long can we operate things in nigeria like this? we must try something different for the sake of tomorrow. i hope i've finally answered your question. |
@poster: in fact, this is the perfect time for military to take over. their premise for taking over will be things are out of control, every single politician in nigeria are heavily corrupt and currently there is no leader leading this country. the only 2 countries that could reject military coup in nigeria are uk and usa, and i predict that these 2 countries will turn their back and allow a sensible military leader to be in charge for some time. reasons: uk is sick of all our leaders, they know too much about our fake "demokrazy" and how money is being transferred everywhere except nigeria. usa is also sick of our corrupt apathetic leaders, and beside all things they also have their own problems to deal with. in fact, obama's administration has indicated that there is no government in nigeria;therefore, anyone that shows dedication and loyalty to the citizens/nigeria will be accepted by usa. as a result of this, i will not be surprised if military coup is allowed to take place in the next few months. we can not continue to operate like this in nigeria. our laws need to be re-arranged and acknowledged by everybody. at this time the only administration that may be able to do this successfully is military admin. a disciplined, dedicated and sensible military officer (someone like idiagbon) may take over soon; and he will be welcomed. don't be silly, we have nothing to lose, the ship is sinking. |
a good topic for this discussion is "why is it so difficult to get a contract in nigeria?" from what have read so far, it seems to me that @topic mission was rejected at some point or level. another me me me nigerian trying to do business without paying any mind to the platform or looking at the real obstacles. our business platform, just like many other things in nigeria needs to be redefined. and this can not be done unless we are ready to contribute something. leadership roles must be revised. a country with apathetic leaders will forever be an undeveloped country. let us forget business or just making money or our personal dream, let us all be more realistic and face the real problems in Nigeria (leadership). instead of only addressing the defective fruits that are being produced by the tree, let us address the ground or type of soil the tree was planted on, 49 yrs ago. |
