Let me spare you the stress of reading what you've read and heard over a hundred times today,Its a new year and I wish you all a happy one but I don't think I need to start recycling new year greetings again. Let me go precisely to my point, I want to IMPLORE all NIGERIANS,Irrespective of TRIBE,POLITICAL AFFILIATIONS AND RELIGION to please endeavor to pray for NIGERIA consistently this year. Have noticed this bad Tradition amongst my country men and women,When they wake up they don't say some good prayers for their country,All they do is to dream of GOING to America neglecting the fact that the Americans they are running to meet do say GOD BLESS AMERICA EVERYDAY THEY SEE A BRAND NEW LIGHT of the day. 2015 is a year this country needs our love, prayers and unity the most,We are heading to the general elections with a fragile internal security, poor national unity and lots of political desperados ready to give whatever it takes to acquire political power,Nigeria is bleeding profusely,She needs our prayers. Even my fellow Christians are not helping issues an inch,Whenever they are in the church and the pastor releases a prayer point for their personal lives,They pray it to the extent of loosing their voices but unfortunately when they are asked to spare a minute to pray for their country,The tempo reduces, Some will even retire to their seats,Some will pray with the poorest of efforts while a few mostly teenagers and youths operates their mobile gadgets. This is a very bad tradition we must do without in 2015. Let me remind all of you that if the foundation of a building is faulty,No matter the beauty of building erected on it,It won't stand well.In the same vein,If the nation is in economical/ Financial or political crisis,No matter the money we make,The dream job we secure,Our new found love and family,Without a better atmosphere in the country, Its all vanity. For instance, Our own richest man on the continent,Dangote lost a chunk of his wealth to the economic crisis that gave birth to the devaluation of naira.Yes, Dangote is a billionaire living life the best way possible but got unsettled by economic crisis. 2015 is a crucial year for us,Why can't we prioritize praying for NIGERIA this year ?Olugbenga Pelumi, Lagos State University, Ojo. |

Wooow great .. I know hsso very well, got lot of friends there. U should know the likes of mercy Kehinde-Ige , The fasoros etc .. But the thing is, Hallmark has lost her touch, Before hallmark were always everywhere but they are now being outshone by GREATER TOMORROW INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE,ARIGIDI-AKOKO, ONDO STATE. Though the two schools are currently the best in ondo in terms of structure{Though greater tomorrow has a much more bigger land space and great buildings, Even glass storey building) and academics,Preston close to them though, Hallmark needs to up their game.... Am an educationist and hallmark are sleeping, Most competitions now are being won by Greater tomorrow,Which is not so before. Work harder, Cheeers! |

A grand jury decided not to indict Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown, setting off fresh confrontations between protesters and police in the tense Missouri city Monday night. While most of the protesters were peacefully assembled on the streets of Ferguson, some protesters smashed the windows of a police cruiser and tried to overturn it, CNN's Jake Tapper reported. Some picked up bricks and smashed the windows of a restaurant. Some protesters rushed the officers lined up in front of the Ferguson police department. Some in the crowd told the agitators to stop throwing bottles, but their urgings fells on deaf air. Police responded by lobbing tear gas, even though they said they were smoke pellets. Fearing just such a reaction, Brown's father had urged demonstrators earlier to remain calm no matter what the grand jury decided. "Hurting others or destroying property is not the answer," Michael Brown Sr. said. "No matter what the grand jury decides, I do not want my son's death to be in vain. I want it to lead to incredible change, positive change. Change that makes the St. Louis region better for everyone." Brown Sr.'s wors were echoed by President Barack Obama who too called for calm. It is an "understandable reaction" that some Americans will agree and others will be made angry by the decision to not indict Wilson, Obama said Monday night. "First and foremost, we are a nation built on the rule of law, so we need to accept this decision was the grand jury's to make," he said. 'No justice, no peace' As soon as the crowd learned there would not be an indictment, hundreds of people gathered outside the Ferguson police station in anger and dismay. Some people broke down in tears. Others threw their hands up and screamed. A chant arose, " F*ck the police! " The crowd surged toward the metal gates in front of the station and were met by officers in full riot gear. Another chant arose: "No justice, no peace!" Some protesters destroyed a police car, and one demonstrator was seen dousing another patrol car with lighter fluid before police in riot gear moved in, CNN correspondent Jason Carroll said. At least one gunshot was heard near the Ferguson Police Department, CNN's Sara Sidner said. And some protesters were seen throwing bottles at police. Wilson, a white police officer, shot and killed Brown, a black teenager, on August 9. After an "exhaustive review," the jurors deliberated for two days, he said. The grand jurors are "the only ones who have heard all the evidence," St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch told reporters. "The physical and scientific evidence examined by the grand jury, combined with the witness statements, supported and substantiated by that physical evidence, tells the accurate and tragic story of what happened," he said. Brown's father is "devastated" that Wilson will not face charges, a spokeswoman for Michael Brown Sr. told CNN's Evan Perez. "While we understand that many others share our pain, we ask that you channel your frustration in ways that will make a positive change," the family said in a statement. "We need to work together to fix the system that allowed this to happen." The family made a call for police officers across the country to wear body cameras

The Inspector General of Police, Abba Sulaiman may have given orders for the arrest of Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Daily Trust has learnt. Sources told Daily Trust a similar order has been handed down to the Department of State Security (DSS.) The orders were given following the fracas that broke out at the National Assembly on Thursday where members of the House of Representatives were confronted by armed security personnel who threw canisters of teargas at the speaker and other lawmakers to stop them from accessing the parliament building. The speaker and some of his colleagues who supported him beat the security cordon and later held a brief plenary thereby stopping some members in their tracks who had gathered protected by scores of Police and DSS operatives to initiate impeachment proceedings against the leadership of the House. Sources at the Police headquarters revealed that the Police chief gave the order for Tambuwal's arrest after a meeting with Vice President Namadi Sambo and the National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki. "I can confirm to you that the order for his arrest has been given today (Friday). The signal from the IG's office specifically directed the FCT and Sokoto State commissioners of Police to serve Tambuwal with notice of invitation to the force headquarters and if he resists, he should be arrested immediately, “the source revealed. "The involvement of Sokoto CP was because the Speaker was sighted in Sokoto on Friday where he picked the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship form for the coming elections. It was assumed that he was out of Abuja as such other police divisions were involved in the matter." Sources at the meeting in Villa indicate that both the Vice President and the NSA chastised the Police boss for the failure of his men to prevent Speaker from entering the national assembly premises. "The NSA was particularly angry and told the IG in clear terms that he doesn't know his job. He said how did the Speaker and the members break a cordon organised by the FCT Police commissioner. The NSA then made it clear that the Police authorities must rectify the anomalies or they will face the consequences. The IG then said Tambuwal will be arrested for questioning.” http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/top-stories/40155-breaking-inspector-general-of-police-order-arrest-of-speaker-tambuwal |
Hi guys,What's good? Without much ado let me go to the main point of why I am writing. My ex girlfriend birthday is on Saturday (November 22) which is tomorrow and I'm having these mixed feelings about it. A part of me says I should celebrate it with her while the other part of me says NO! I shouldn't. But the thing is, The birthday has been on my mind right form august. The initial feeling was that, I was going to ignore her on her birthday to make her know how hurt I still feel but as the day gets closer, the feelings just keeps overwhelming me. Now I can't even think of anything else apart from the birthday. Though she now has another boyfriend whom she dumped me for but I still really love her. Let me tell you of what went down between us. We started dating last year and I loved this girl so much even regardless of her ugly past. She promised to never leave me not even in the middle of fire. I was so in love with her that I fought anybody that tried to come between us. I became the enemy of many including my cousins. Later on she suddenly changed, this was around this time last year. I initially thought it was because she resumed school then so I tried to understand her and support her but things got really worse. She would see my messages and Ignore them with the excuse of being busy and blah blah blah. I began to feel the hurt everyday but i endured it. She used me as her dp last year December during my birthday for a short while and changed it almost immediately to that of she and another guy. That was when I began suspecting something. So I teased her with it, she really got angry with me for teasing her and told me to "get lost" because I asked questions about this new guy. This made me smell a rat!!! This really hurt me so I decided to ask her directly. I confronted her and asked her what the problem was and if she was seeing someone else and she said yes that she now has someone that she loves. The statement swept me off my feet, I felt weak and couldn't hold back my tears. And to make it worse, I asked who the guy was, she said it was her pastor's son and they had been dating since august, meaning they started dating even when we were together. I really felt betrayed because this was a girl I gave everything I had. I later learnt from her close friend that she left me for him because she felt he had a brighter future. He attends Babcock uni while she is in Bowen. I on the other hand am in a government uni. She later met me and said she was sorry but I still haven't gotten over the heart break. So now I am caught in the middle with my mixed feelings as her birthday is close by. Should I give her a call and use her as my Dp? A part of me wants to do this but the other part of me feels she will take me for a fool,Or I may not feel good with myself, At the same time I know I would feel guilty if I let the day go by without saying anything to her. What should I do? Am totally confused!!! Please mods,I will really appreciate it if you guys can help move it to front page instantaneously because her birthday is just some hours away, I need the advice of my fellow nairalanders!!! God bless Nairaland!!! Thanks Guys... Looking forward to your advice(s) |
