You are wrong. His parents didn't Greek-cised the name. Most of those Yoruba alphabets don't exist in Greek language. So, when he was to get a Greek passport while going to the NBA, his Yoruba surname was spelt using Greek alphabets.

Lmao. You are saying this because I guess you probably have not lived the life of an immigrant before. Go and read the news, the British are currently reminding Joshua that he is not a part of them all because of his BLM activities. They said his ancestors are not British. Mind you, Joshua still proudly identifies as a Nigerian every day. He even wanted to represent Nigeria in the Olympics ahead of the British but he didn't make the Nigerian team.

The same thing with the NBA’s Adetokunbo brothers - who are constantly told that they are not true Greeks. I know Nigeria is messed up but you can never disassociate yourself from your heritage. I live in the US and I have family and folks here. People will always remind you that you are not American but a Nigerian.

I know he would chose to play for England LAS las.
That's not true. Saka has always identified as a Nigerian. He comes to Nigeria regularly. Everything is not about money. At times, you will make decisions based on passion and love. Google Erica Ogwumike - a Nigerian born in the US. She has the option of playing for the best basketball team in the world(USA) but she chose to play for the Nigerian team. Even this new Eagles striker - Cyriel Ayodele Dessers turned down Belgium for Nigeria. If you live abroad, you will understand why your heritage matters a lot. Saka was born in the UK but they will always remind him that his ancestors are not British. It's only Nigeria he can REALLY call home - that's where his ancestors are from. I have relatives here in the US who still identify as Nigerians despite being born and raised abroad. No matter how hard you try to claim foreign countries - Nigeria is still your home. That's the only place they will always trace your lineage too.

The hype about Nigerians doing well abroad is getting too much.. You can't even compare Nigerians to the Asians. Most especially Indians and Chinese. They go there and make waves yet you hear little noise about it. But here in naija we go as far as saying Nigerians are the most intelligent people in the world all because one graduated with first class whereas he was just one Nigerian out if many foreigners that came out with first class.. How many countries have you been to or what do you know to conclude that Nigerians are the most intelligent in the world.
As an American with a Nigerian background, I will disagree with you. The fact that someone was born or raised abroad does not make the person less Nigerian. That’s why we have identities like Nigerian Americans and British Nigerians. So far your parents are Nigerians, you are also a Nigerian.

Is Anthony Joshua not a Nigerian? Is Tomi Adeyemi not one? Is Davido not Nigerian? The fact that one was born abroad does not mean they don’t identify with their heritage.

And mind you, this particular girl was raised in Nigeria.

The FBI is not omniscient neither are they omnipotent there is nothing like hacking into a bitcoin wallet, the best they can do is search through his email for a folder where his wallet private is hidden or get it on his phone or laptop.

This same all knowing attribute we've ascribed to the USA in our heads is what is stopping some people from doing great things.

Our almighty USA showed the world how powerless, unskilled and unprepared it is when it comes to combating unforeseeable events that can bring the world to its toes. The Covid-19 pandemic is one major example.
Lol. This is not about America. This is about a field I know so much about. I have folks working on their PhD thesis in Cybersecurity stuff using data mining. I’ve seen them do most of these things in my presence. It’s very possible to hack into anybody’s bitcoin wallet using data mining tools. Maybe you should go and read about data mining and machine learning algorithms.

And about America’s response to the pandemic, it’s more about the conservative leadership of Trump. See how Cuomo is approaching things in NY.

The people are just good/gifted naturally with hard work and focus.
Millions of Chinese have studied in American universities since the dawn of this century. Less than 200,000 Nigerians have done the same and the issue here is most of them hardly return to Nigeria after radiation. They usually stay back to work and start a family there. Regardless, tech startups like Andela, Flutterwave, Jumia and the likes were founded by American trained Nigerians. The likes of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Sowore, Akinwunmi Adeshina etc are all American trained as well.

yea they know American university is on the highest pedestal, the tip of the pyramid.

But the basis of the argument is that while Chinese go there to learn, acquire skills, knowledge, technology that will help advance their country,

Nigerians instead go there for pleasure, sleeping around, messing around, fooling around, heavy shopping and clubbing with looted task payers funds.

That is why we hardly see any difference and impact that is made by so called prestigious uni grads.

What you will be hearing is continuous looting of billions
This is actually false. Most of the Nigerians studying in the US are from average families on one scholarship or the other -, particularly in graduate schools. I know of a guy studying at Stanford and his mum is a pepper seller in Oshodi. He got a fully-funded scholarship. And that's the story of most Nigerians in American graduate schools.

Mind you, most of the recent tech innovations in Nigeria were also founded by Nigerians who studied/worked in the US. Flutterwave, Andela, Jumia, 54-Gene and many others were founded by Nigerians who studied in America.

Over 1 million international students from over 100 countries study and live in the United States every year. In view of recent events about Trump’s administration policy on online education and international students, let’s look at the countries and continents that will be the most affected.

In 2019, the highest international student populations in the US by their nation of origin were:

(1). China, with 369,548 students

(2). India, with 202,014 students

(3). South Korea, with 52,250 students

(4). Saudi Arabia, with 37,080 students

(5). Canada, with 26,122 students

(6). Vietnam 21,403

(7). Taiwan 21,127

(8}. Brazil 19,370

(9). Japan 19,060

(10). Mexico 16,733

Source: https://educationdata.org/international-student-enrollment-statistics/

Foreign students who made up 12% of the total student population contributed nearly 30% of total tuition revenue at public universities in 2015
In 2018, the total contribution to the US economy by international students was estimated to be over $45 billion.

The top US schools hosting students in 2019 were:

New York University with 19,605 students,
University of Southern California Los Angeles with 16,340 students,
Northeastern University with 16,075 students, Columbia University with 15,897
University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign with 13,497 students.

Most people claiming to be tech gurus or Yahoo boys in Nigeria are living on outdated information. That’s why I laugh when I see them comment about blockchain and cryptocurrency. They are so foolishly confident about what they didn’t develop or have access to its back end. If you have ever attended developers or hackers/Cybersecurity wizards boot camps or conferences in the Sillicon Valley - you will know the ideas behind blockchain and cryptocurrency and how some folks can easily crack into it. You expect me to develop a wallet now and I will tell you it can be hacked? That won’t incentivize most people to use it. Apple thrives on branding - the idea that their security is impregnable by anyone on the planet but how were some FBI agents siting in their offices able to hack into it like a hot knife going through butter? So many things about the internet are classified and I can tell you that the FBI can get almost anything they want from the cyberspace(maybe excluding Russia and China).

I’m only saying all these because I want my Nigerian brothers and sisters to stay away from cybercrime and earn money online legitimately. The internet is not as anonymous as most people think - even if you use whatever cryptocurrency or encryption.

Yahoo boys thrive in Nigeria because EFCC don’t have the manpower and technical know-how to crack on those ragtag fraudsters. Let some Cybersecurity(not even FBI agents now) wizkids from IBM or Sillicon Valley enter Naija today, they will nab most of those Lagos yahoo boys in a couple of months. Most of these yahoo boys use outdated platforms or bromide procedures to defraud vulnerable people. I know of a friend in the US that can use data mining tools to extract any bitcoin address being used from Nigeria - most of you don’t even know how your network providers protect your IP address or data. And VPN is not even entirely secured.

The best thing is to stay away from crime and fraud but so far you think you can scam people online - be assured that you can be easily tracked with the trails you left behind.

Dude you need some lecture, how are you going to decrypt bitcoin address that generate code every minutes? They can only get access through the help of the bitcoins company. You can hardly find someone identity on bitcoins even if its hacked most people use fake identity. The money mule guy that's sending the money through bitcoins was approached and I belive he gave them a lot of information that's why the investigation was smooth.
Lol. Most of you don’t know how BTC addresses are generated. Many of you guys always claim to be smart but you sheepishly believe everything you are told by programmers. I’ve seen people use data mining tools to decrypt bitcoin addresses in my presence before. What they need is just a transaction ID or an access to one of the gadgets you use online - they will mine out every of your passwords and ID. Most of you don’t even know how data mining and machine learning works in 2020. All of these encryption, anonymous and privacy jargons are all gimmicks by programmers or developers to incentivize people(even criminals) to use these platforms. They are not entirely safe or secure from hacking or tracking.

There are certain tools I’ve seen people use in the US that left me in shock - since then: I’ve concluded that you can never be anonymous on the internet. US federal agencies will only find it difficult to nab you if you operate from Russia or China.

But if you live in Nigeria and you think you cannot be tracked or what you do cannot be decrypted - you are only deceiving yourself. I’ve watched people do it in my presence very well. Stop fooling yourselves with blockchain or a cryptocurrency where the FBI owns the largest wallet. Do you even know how the back ends of these blockchain stuff are programmed? Smh.

The best thing is to stay away from crime.

They only need data mining tools and machine learning techs to access all their passwords and IDs. There are ways these things work.

Btc addresses are there in the blockchain network, you don’t even need any special tools to unravel them and once you get the address, a search on any btc explorer will reveal all the transactions that has occurred on that address. The main issue now is getting the funds back from that address. Government agencies can compel the exchange or platform (via court order)holding the fund to freeze the account and all but if the address holding the address is generated via a hardware wallet, it can’t be recovered unless the private key is revealed by the owner.
Since they arrested them with their gadgets, I can bet you that those FBI guys already have the private keys. They only need to mine the data on their gadgets and match it with certain IDs. All of these won’t take them more than a week. Tools dey o my guy!
