pompeiimagnus: 1. Get on LinkedIn and create an alert for IE jobs. Review the job descriptions and start building your skills. Udemy, Coursera, LinkedIn learning etc. can help you with this.
2. Use your university career services office to prep your resume and perform mock interviews. Then start applying and interviewing for summer internships from your first semester. E get why.
3. Choose your courses smartly, especially your multidisciplinary electives. Take classes in data analytics, lean manufacturing, optimization etc.
4. Attend conferences and career fairs at your university and organizations like NSBE and SWE.
5. Be social, make friends, take on class or school projects. Everything counts here. Thank you very much sir |

MackyNaija: Yes Sir, convert you SSCE/WAEC to an American equivalent.
Next step, Associate degree - students can work and school. As someone said and I know Amaz0n, Walmar+ and T3sla will pay for you to school.
Then online or part-time BSc and you are good. It musnt be in engineering.
An in-demand field I know is Supply Chain management. Should be less stressful while working and schooling. Hello sir. I am a fresh graduate. Looking to apply for IE come fall22. As a fresh graduate with barely any industry experience. Won't that be a barrier after my graduate studies? Thanks |

MackyNaija: Your gre score is very high, I believe their requirement is around 298 (could be less).
How it works: Graduate school awards scholarships based on availability. $1,000 scholarship split half into two semesters making you eligible for roughly 50% of the tuition for both semesters.
I explained it somewhere on this thread in 2017, search for it as any new explanation might be inaccurate.
Aside this, your department might have a GA, TA, or RA thingy going on. They recently started bachelor's in IEEN so there's availability of assistantship.
In summary, 1. graduate school offers scholarship with admission - no special application required. Sometimes, harassing them gets you this money. Most times, applying EARLY with a competitive profile is the surest way.
And
2. Department offers assistantship on arrival. Sime schools can give you this before arrival. thank you very much sir. I am likely to get complete tuition waiver in one of my choice schools. Msc Industrial Engineering. My concern now is the living expenses, what kind of jobs is accepted for an international student? Must it be on campus? |

NoFap123: By upper week, you must have written your GRE by now. Can you share your experience? I got 312. Q163 and Verbal was 149. Very painful. Still seeking advise whether to rewrite or not. I am considering a graduate program in Civil Engineering. *If you are seeing this what would you advise, am I good to go?* As for my experience, I would say the Quant was fair, what GRE was testing is time management and ability to pay attention to details, nothing really out of ordinary except some few questions probably experimental, I got 3 quants sections. My Quant score could have been 165+ or more by my first section was bad, I had to make sure I get almost every question in the subsequent one. As for verbal, GRE is not testing vocabularies like before, it's more of context and understanding clues and sentence structure. I must have missed so many questions on TC and SE cos my RC seems smooth. In summary, don't fret, take enough practice test, work on your practice test and use more of official guide materials. GRE is standardized, that means they have scope of what they intend to test, there is a pattern most especially for the Quants. |
