Actually whatsapp can't provide a record of your conversation to anyone.

WhatsApp is encrypted end to end.

Your messages are encrypted as they leave your phone and only unlocked at your partners phone.

WhatsApp doesn't store these messages. That's why you can't sync them with a new phone or 'login' to the WhatsApp app on another phone to get your messages.

That's the same reason why when you delete a WhatsApp picture from your gallery and you go into your whatsapp to download it again, you can't because the image is not stored in the server.

Since no one can get to these messages, government are always angry with end to end encryptions.

Theoretically, no one has access to your messages on WhatsApp except you the sender and the recipient.

But if Facebook is shady then they have been lying to the public about their end2end encryption which is very unlikely.

You are talking as if it's not the same telecoms companies hiking the price of normal calls that will still be charging you for data.

Believe me, if the traffic on normal calls drop abnormally and that of the internet usage increases, the Telcos will immediately adjust their data price upward and that your analysis won't work again. They must make their money at all cost

Not everyone has data enabled phone.

Those that have a data enabled phone, not all of them can operate it.

Those that can operate data enable phone can be in a rural setting with a very poor network connection.

High cost of purchasing data by some people.

Poor or lack of adequate power supply to keep your phone alive.

Those with a good phone and data, how many dey on the data?. Some people na off and on data Dem dey do.

Lastly internet call can never match normal call in Nigeria in terms of voice clarity Dem nor near.

When you are going to have a long conversation with someone over the phone, 9 out of 10 times you know before hand.

5 hours call on regular phone call at the lowest rate will cost you more than N2000.

That's 10x the amount for internet calls. How are they the same thing?

And How much more can you manage 5mb data better than using it to talk for almost 20 minutes with a loved one?

Let me help with just 2 Screenshots.. WhatsApp calls are just fucking cheap and reliable.. I really don't get errors that much and, even i if eventually get a network glitch, it rectifies within 10 seconds..

When you make internet call, you use about 50mb and the recipient use about 50mb for the same time. If the cost of 50mb is 50 Naira, both the caller and the recipient will pay a total sum of 100 naira. And stop calling people liars on the internet. It does not speak well of you

WhatsApp call was never created to replace the normal calls. Data takes much of your investment than calls. Make the research. Calls are clearer and connects even without data subscription.

Because from all calculations, the data you buy with just 1k will be used to make calls that will last longer than airtime of N10k

What you're saying is true VoLTE is the way forward but there are a lot of limitations at the moment around it though.
Majority of the people with smartphones to implement this don't keep their data on when they aren't using the phone. Some go to such extent of limiting background data consumption.

this is the only limitation I see. I guess as we grow as a nation, it'll become better tho.

I took a trip to the East to see a relative.
Before I even finished leaving Epe, all the whole internet data and Google maps have stopped working on the phone. The phone just be like carton for my hand.
Finaly reached the east and I couldn't even load WhatsApp. All those Tick and Double Tick couldn't even load.
Is that how you expect people to adopt internet data calling facilities?

in my village, people have to climb a mountain before they can make regular phone calls.

Internet calls is not for everyone just as phone calls is not for everyone. If you are enabled you should make it. Abi everybody in your contact list is in your village where they don't have smartphones and only poor connections?

Nope. I don't live in Paranoia. I want to control what is out there about me. In fact in some places I purposely leave incorrect data (called data doping) so I know where people are trying to do an OSINT on me. Data marketing using personal Data isn't my worry. If you are to recharge N200, send N100 to them and use N100 for yourself.

That N200 will give you 6 hours of talk time but for regular phone calls it'll only give you 30 minutes or less.

i remember doing video call with my friends with my 2G lenovo phone it was very bad dem no dey hear me sef, i wan cry that day, i just stick regular calls till a better phone comes.

video calls on 2g phone is expected to be poor.

1gb out of that will be for night browsing for only two days. Worst part is you don't know the one glo is cutting the money from when you are browsing at night. So I don't even get to use it.
