Dear Moderator, Thank you for taking the time out to provide a "very" detailed response to some of my concerns. Your points have been duly notice. Please find below my response to these: Firstly I raised three points / areas of concern. The FIRST was to do with not having a visible complaints thread "stickyed" at the top of the first page of this section. I fail to see your response to that. Why do I mention this? Simply because most sections on Nairaland have a visible complaints thread for the users. So why is it any different in the Literature / Writing section? Or is this not meant to be an important feature of this section? I see you've repeated the highlighted phrase in bold several times. Was that necessary? What exactly is your point here? If you don't mind my saying so, this is akin to a personal attack and if that be the case, then what's the point of having a complaints thread? Granted, visible changes have been made to this section which have been acknowledged but you'll agree more work still needs to be done here. No one's saying that thread "A" is better than thread "B", "C" or " D" here. Neither was the word perfection used to describe any posting here. You may not like my description of the quality of some threads here but that feeling has been reflected by other posters. Please don't shoot the messenger but pay heed to the message. Here's an example of what I'm referring to: https://www.nairaland.com/1018298/im-pregnant-sisters-husband/2 (The topmost comment on page 2 mirrors majority of the comments on page 1). Now I only felt it was befitting to bring your attention to this, but since you say anything goes in this section, then I stand corrected. I have no qualms whatsoever in making suggestions for improvement to writers regarding their work, and I too have always actively encouraged people to give me their honest opinions on what they think of my pieces. I've always believed that the learning process is a continuous thing, but that's beside the point here. The question here is: how appropriate are some of these thread in the Literature Section?? Take the family section for example, where certain threads deemed inappropriate, have been moved to the Jokes, Romance and even the sexuality sections and vise versa. But hey, if like you say anything and everything is fair game here, in the name of fairness - then so be it. You're the moderator and it's your call at the end of the day. Yes, it is. So what exactly is your point here? Forgive me if you don't mind my saying so, but I find your first and last statements contradictory. A couple of sections I've visited on nairaland have got very clear guidelines / rules and regulations on what is expected of posters and how they ought to conduct themselves while in those sections. Take the Food, and Jokes sections for example where the rules are explicitly stated so posters can't feign ignorance. With regards to the Literature section, do you not think it's stands to reason that posters should not pass off other people's work as their own? Take a look at this thread for example: https://www.nairaland.com/1005798/letter-sons-teacher If you read through the comments on that thread, you'll see that the thread starter was practically "roasted alive" there for trying to pass off Abraham Lincon's work as his. Now let's give him / her the benefit of doubt on the grounds that he / she wasn't aware that trying to pass off someone else's work as thier's without acknowledging the true source is a crime in itself. Who knows, maybe if we had that as one of the possible rules and regulations to abide to in this section, that incidence may not have occurred. Merely stating that people would do it irrespective of whether we've got rules here or not is not on. Unless the message you're sending out is that people should be free to do as they please over here? If that be the case, then I stand corrected (again). No one's asking or expecting you to "do everything". Yes, I agree whole heartedly with you that it's not a one-person-job. The first step to making any improvements at all, starts by people / users noticing that a change is needed. Then they make suggestions to the leader / moderator as the case may be, but those suggestions have to be made first. At the end of the day, YOU are the moderator, and users of this section look up to you to implement any changes to be made. If the suggester gets attacked for raising some points, then what really is the use of making the suggestions in the first place? Now, that's my take on things. Thanks, Efe.
You have made your point. I am still trying to figure out how this topic & your post--->(https://www.nairaland.com/1025957/whats-remedy-cold-raining-season) is literary in nature. I am surprised you didn't include this in your list of complaint for someone who is looking for quality topics on a literary thread. Nigerians are bunch of hypocrites, they criticize what doesn't suit them and simply accept what goes well in their system. Whats the difference between this topic https://www.nairaland.com/1018298/im-pregnant-sisters-husband/2 and the topic you were describing your family routine? If a thread doesn't go well with you simple ignore it, other members with different preferences might like it. A lot of members commented on the pregnancy thread & asked the poster to keep writing. Everyone should be allowed to express themselves just like the irrelevant family history you gave on the raining season thread. I still can't reconcile your family episode with literature but I didn't close the thread because freedom of expression is what I strongly believe in & I would never deprive anyone of that. I don't mind leaving than stopping members from being themselves. Thanks. |
Dear Moderator, I've got a couple of concerns here: Firstly, why isn't this thread stuck at the top of the first page, where it'll be easily seen and readily accessible to all? I've just had to "fish" for it midway down the second page of this section. Secondly, I and a few others have noticed that quite a number of threads here seem to belong to the Romance Section. These aren't fictional Love and Romance threads that boast of creativity. No, they're more like poorly written, cheap, tacky Nollywood scripts with flat and predictable endings. Thirdly, what guards do we have in this section against plagiarism? Shouldn't there be some sort of warning thread here against lifting up other people's work, without fully acknowledging the source? Okay, some might claim ignorance - all the more reason to have this warning as one more "stickeyed" thread at the top of this section for all and sundry to see and enlighten themselves. Thanks, Efe.
Really? I am surprised that you and your "few others" havent been producing these creative threads worthy of presenting from the Literature/Writing section. When I started in the this section, a lot of members complained about how dead and boring this section was despite the creativity you and your "few others" presented. My attention was also drawn to the fact that members were not motivated to visit this section or commend on the creative write-ups presented by you and your "few" others. There was also the issue of awareness to attract more members to the section. Now, you are complaining about quality write-ups. Tell me, why certain threads or post should come off as more important than others? I thought there was nothing as perfection on here but a section free/fair for everyone to learn and participate. A lot of members have joined have started participating now, started writing poetry & stories which was not the turn out before. Is it fair to segregate some write-ups as being less creative because you and your "few others" think its that way? I hope you know some members find the write ups of you and your "few others" as being boring as well but thats their opinion. Its better to have a mix, diversity and variety in a section so that members or any lane man can relate to it & contribute. If write-ups are not up to standard, learn to advise/encourage/motivate the writers so that next time, they would present a good write-up. I am not a robot, I have tried to cater to everyone but that would stop from now on. You want creative write-ups, present them and create the awareness yourself but I will never discourage people to express themselves in a public forum because of you and your "few others" think so. Is plagiarism not generally bad every where? What difference does it make if a thread is created to that effect or not? People know the laws and are aware of it. Creating a thread about it won't detect it when its done nor would it stop it from happening. I take actions whenever its done. An example was during the debate session, Shymmex was disqualified for plagiarism. Another example was when a fellow exposed a member for stealing his comic story, I deleted the thread and went as far as appeasing the fellow off nl to make sure he doesn't do anything drastic. Anyways, I will see to the plagiarism issue. Efe, if you have ways of improving the section, please do that as well. Don't expect me to do everything. I believe you and your "few others" can make a difference on your rather than just noticing it. How many of these incompetent write-ups have u reported for scrutiny? |

Is this to show that nl babes and guys don't have game? So all we just do is make noise all the time on nl, we don't have the player instinct. Can you just imagine how this thread was wasted just like that. Several "excuses" to avoid proving that women are not the weaker sex. |
HumbledbYGrace: I would really like to be a contestant pls......Ok You got yourself Okija_juju as your partner. Congratulations. You can proceed if u like |

@Okija_juju, u no longer have a partner because u came late so u have to wait to be paired again. I will look for a partner for u. |
I said it!!! And I only just saw this o!! Imagine that!!
DESCRIPTION 1 boy & 1 girl would be paired up together as a team. The girls would pick 1 scenario question each from the list, They are to answer it or tell us steps they will take to resolve it(as per how they would play the game if they were in that situation). Their team mate(guy) would rebut it and show the audience all the loopholes in the girl's game & how easy a guy will nullify her actions & have her kissing his palm. The girl & guy would argue back and forth to convince the audience who are the better game players- men or women. The guy's job is to put his team player in a tight corner and maintain the superiority mantle for men. The girl's job is to stand her grounds to the last till she wins the superiority mantle for women. No holds barred- they will curse if they need to, use fowl languages, pidgin, ghetto & act straight-up gangstar. Street fight is allowed. Its going to be very real, down to earth & may contain sexual content. Men think they know it all but I know nairaland women are equal to the task. |
ARGH!!!!!! WAT!!! ILEKE IDI ke!!! WHY ALWAYS ME ![]() EKITI STATE BABE?!!!! WHY ?!!!WHAT EVER DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?!!!! HABA?!!! MBA o!! EJO O!!!! BIKO KWA!!!! WHY DIDNT YOU GIVE ME FREECOCOA, Ogugua (My Niaraland secret love)... Abeg o!!
For Example Scenario 1- You forgot to drop the call after a conversation with your boyfriend. You started misyarning about him to your friends who are visiting, confessing how you play him and spend his money & how you intend to continue using him (You know the way women gossip and all). For some reason you look down, you see he is still online and hasn't hung up, he probably heard everything. A) Would you say "hello" to him or ask if he is still there or would you cut off the phone? What are the steps you will take to resolve the issue? B) Assuming you said "hello" and he replies, “yes I am here” and he cuts off the phone. What will you do? Whatever steps you decide to take must cement your relationship. Ensure he doesn't break up with you!!!! Scenario 2................................. Scenario 3................................. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************ Female Participant - I choose Scenario 1 from the list of Scenario questions. This is how I intend to resolve the issue: I will pay him a visit at his place immediately. I will explain to him that my friends & I were rehearsing a line from the church drama coming up soon. I will prepare his favorite meal & clean his apartment. I trust that would sort things out and our relationship will still be intact. I am so good at my game that I trust it would work like magic. Male Participant - What do you take men for? Do you think men are stupid? That rubbish you just spewed won't solve anything or cement our relationship. I will have my fill of you sexually and dump you afterwards because you are a lying scheming b*tch. |

Happy Birthday girlfriend Its so wonderful that your new bountiful journey started right in your new year of great things God would finish the rest for you I Love you. |
queensmith: hey cuddlemii- Im a little lost tbh- so whats the scenario and who's my screen partner? My dear, here is the list of the scenarios for you to go through. You are to pick one and tackle it. Your partner is to rebut all your post. Refer to https://www.nairaland.com/1015990/two-play-game-competition-test#11855693 for example of what you are meant to do. UPDATED Scenario 1- You forgot to drop the call after a conversation with your boyfriend. Scenario2- You send the wrong text that was meant for your aristo (sugar daddy or maga) to your real boyfriend. Your bf thinks you are on your way to your village meanwhile you are headed to London courtesy of your sugar daddy. The text goes like this, “Dear, thank you for the land, the one million naira, my school fees and of course my trip to London. I am about to board the plane now, will call you when I land at the Heathrow airport. Love, Mariam. Your real bf’s reply goes thus, “I don’t even know you anymore, and I am disappointed”. A) How would you get yourself out this mess? Will you abandon the trip? Will you go ahead with the trip? What steps would you take to resolve the situation? B) Remember you used the word, “Dear” and not your maga’s name. Scenario 3- Your ex appears a day before your wedding & threatens you that he would release your nude pictures if you don’t call off the wedding and return back to him. Your fiancé is your soul mate & has spent a fortune for the wedding & your upkeep. A) Will you call off the wedding to secure your nude picture back? This might lead to losing the love of your life. This doesn’t guarantee that your ex will give you back your pictures. It’s also possible that your ex is just bluffing. Bear in my mind that the pictures presented to you by your ex is enough to ruin your life. B) What steps will you take to silence your ex, marry your love and resolve the issue? Scenario 4- You are busy washing a heap of clothes in your compound and left your phone unattended to inside your bedroom. You have several missed calls & voice mail messages from your two boyfriends informing you they are on their way to your place. Due to your carelessness, you are not aware of this as your two bfs have never met before & you have never been caught at your games. Suddenly your gate opens and your two boyfriends walk in as you are washing. They are visiting your home at the same time, they have seen you so you can’t run or hide. What would you do? How would you manage the situation? A) Would you hug both of them? How would you do make the introductions? Would you grab seats for both of them? How would you dismiss them without acting suspicious? B) Remember your two bfs are not good at keeping their hands off you. They love public show of affection. Would you shake, fidget or vibrate? Would you cry? Scenario 5- Your boyfriend's cousin caught you in another state (probably Abuja) with another man at an event in a hotel… You were in a tight embrace with another man, smooching with reckless abandon when you brushed your bf’s cousin at the pathway by mistake. Both of you stopped to gaze at each other in shock. You recognize that the lady he is with is not also his fiancée. The clause is this; you didn't catch him in an intimate position with the lady so it’s possible the lady is his relative or business associate because they appeared casual & decent. What would be your first reaction to the cousin when you brushed him recklessly? A) Would you run away or strike a conversation with him. Would you act like a stranger or ask him for forgiveness? B) If your bf’s cousin is the disciplined type that speaks the truth or the lousy type that doesn't keep his mouth shut, how do you intend to silence/appease him? C) If he tells your bf everything, how would you convince your boyfriend to take your word over his? Scenario 6- You were introduced to your father in law and you recognize him as the man who led your school mate to die aborting his child. He is against the union between you and his son. He expressed his concerns openly and asked you out of his house. You are happy that you have a leverage to use against him. A thought suddenly crosses your mind; you remember you were the one he paid to arrange the deceased girl at your hostel back in school. You orchestrated this hook-up with a whooping fee attached. Realistically, you are not innocent because you had a part to play in her death. A) How would you tackle your fiancés father? Would you confront him or threaten him? Would you appeal to him? B) Would you tell your fiancé your past? Have it in mind that you painted the picture of a perfect lady with a clean background/past to your man, how do you tend to resolve this in order to marry your man? PLEASE BEAR WITH ME IF THERE ARE GRAMMATICAL & TYPOGRAPHICAL ERRORS. I AM MULTI TASKING. |
sweetcocoa: So sholly is really?........ Na wa o.No, she is not bittyend. We were chatting about Jazzman Olofin's song and not about multiple IDs. During the game between Bittyend & Shollypopz, bittyend posted more than required because he did not understand the rules, I guess it dawned on him and he deleted it and fitted perfectly to the character he was supposed to play in the first place. I made the mistake of confusing bitty for sholly cos he typed what a female should have typed instead of rebutting. Its all a mix up, bitty and sholly aren't the same. Please lets move on. Thanks! |
