Kween2014: Hello People, Please I have a few questions, forgive my ignorance;
I currently have a B1/B2 visa expiring in June and I intend to renew via drop-box. However, my passport expires Jan 2019 and my planned trip is in October and I may not be back before the passport expires.
1. Giving the current trend of ‘no passport booklet’, can I travel with my old passport in October even if I have started the process of passport renewal? Just incase it is not ready before I intend to travel. Is this allowed?
2. If yes to my first question, what happens if my passport expires while I am still in the US? And I still haven’t received the new passport.
Thank you. Yes I believe you can travel with it without any issues. Renew when you get back |

customised87: Hello, I am in same boat with you. How did you contact them at Sheffield please? My uncle and his wife submitted theirs on the 13th Feb and they have not been contacted since then. At last, their passports have been returned and visa granted. Thanks y'all |

matt234: Hi Guys, Your opinions will go a long way; and if there's someone who has been in this situation and scaled through, please share their story.
2005 - I applied for a UK student visa but was refused due to insufficient funds and low WAEC grades. 2006 - Changed my name and DOB; got a new passport and applied for another student visa in 2007 and by this time, the UK had started taking biometrics as part of the application process. I was caught and presumably banned for 10 years. The passport used was not returned back to me as they believed that was not my true identity. All these I did as I was ignorant and just despirate to have a bright future, which I am already having without stepping out of Nigeria. All my siblings eventually left Nigeria in the struggle and live in US, Canada and France; I am the only one left here for now grin
Fast forward to 2018, I have since graduated from Uni and now working as an analyst for an Oil Company.
Now, I have a fiancee who is settled in the UK and who will eventually be a British citizen in 2019. We plan to get married next year and I am planning to apply for a spose visa. I will declare my previous applications, including the change of name and biometrics, which I believe would now have been deleted as it is over 10 years; however, I am sure there is a likelihood of a refusal under section 320 but I will appreciate if there's someone who has such experience and who can share what they did. I work full time and I earn a considerably huge amount of salary. I also have a business and few properties and can show a genuine bank account with good cash flow and a balance of over N40m; my fiancee also earns over £30k yearly, so finance is not an issue. I am confident that I would normally meet the requirements if not for the refusals and ban which happened over 12 years ago.
Going by your experience guys, what do you suggest? Why not also go on vacation to some other countries first before your application? |

You can buy food after security and board your flight though. That's the difference. I may not be sure about the jollof rice but I am sure you ll be allowed to Carry snacks such as Doughnut, sausage, bread, meat pie etc. I know this cos I often carry them through security into the ✈ airplane with no stress |

michnib: I bought British Airways ticket for my family to El Paso Texas. While purchasing the ticket the British Airways attendant who sold the ticket stated that my daughter's ticket will be changed to infant and on seat for the return trip. She gave us a number to call prior to our return so they can ensure it is done. My wife gave birth and we called the number severally, the customer care directed us to American Airline, we called American Airline, the representative said we should speak to British airways. Then my wife called British Airway helpline again. When nothing was done she went to El Paso Airport but no british airways customer care office. So she kept on calling British Airways helplines (US and UK). I went to the Lagos Airport office and they said they cannot get it done, that I should call a number. I wasted my airtime. When I got angry they fixed it and gave me another ticket for my daughter.
Unknown that this was just the beginning of poor customer service. My wife called the US office to book our new born on her ticket so she can fly, after several delays they did and told her to call back in 48hrs. She called back and they posted her to call back again, she called back the following day and same thing happened but she insisted that they must tell her the fare price for the new born so she can pay before the travel date. After the struggle the customer representative gave her a fare price and said she has to go to Dallas airport to pay, that they do not accept payment online or via phone call.
So British Airways expects my wife and new born to travel 11hrs on road from El Paso to Dallas just to pay?
I tried paying from Lagos, they did not accept, I called all British Airways helpline I got but same story, until I argued on phone with one of their customer representative, who then went to the manager to find a solution and said that he will make another booking and give me a fare price but I will pay in Naira at any GTBank. He did it and I immediately went to a GTBank to pay.
I got the ticket in 24hrs and forwarded the mail to my wife.
On getting to the airport, the attendant said she cannot find any of our flight details on their system, he was jumping from one system to another and delayed my family. After about 45 minutes of holding our passports, he said he cannot check us in again that boarding gate is closed (meanwhile we still had 35 minutes more before the departure). My family missed their flight. Now British airways said we should pay $2500 to reschedule. Who does this?.
I WILL NOT ADVISE MY ENEMY TO FLY BRITISH AIRWAYS. IT IS ADVISABLE TO USE OTHER AIRLINES TO US, ESPECIALLY FOR PREGNANT WOMEN, BECAUSE OF THE STRESS TO GET YOUR NEW BORN ON THE TICKET.
PLEASE STAY OFF. This, right here is the story of my life! This very thing happened to me on my first missionary journey in 2015. I also missed my flight cos of BA's bad customer service. I however refused to pay any money to reschedule cos it was dre fault. I kept calling and thratening them until they rescheduled my flight and my baby's to 2 days later. Still, American Airlines insisted i paid 200$ for my infant's bag before i could board on the date i was rescheduled to. Their excuse was that BA didnt notify them that i would be travelling with a baby from Alabama to Dallas. I was told BA only added the baby from Dallas to Lagos. So i had to pay 200$ for his bag but they would let the baby board cos its free for babies to travel by air within the US. I advise that you keep calling them until someone sensible picks up, you shouldnt pay any money to reschedule cos its dre fault |

mizGene: Dear all, pls one quick question..
A friend has a US visa in her old passport with her maiden name and wants to travel now but just realised that her new passport bears her married name, will this cause any issues at poe or at the airport?
Also if she has to renew, can she do Dropbox? (Previous visa was tourism, if she applies again it will be medical) since both are in the same category... Has anyone been in a similar situation? Answers needed asap pls. Read back some few pages, somebody shared a firsthand experience as regards this issue. I think she said you will need to call the embassy to update you Info with them before travelling. Tourism and medical are in the same category B1/B2 so she qualifies for Dropbox asking as she has used the visa to travel before. |

chinwewale: Hello Mums Pls I need advice on the way forward.
My family and I applied for a visa for my birthing purpose, but due to bar code wahala, my hubby and toddler couldn't go in for the interview.
They were asked to reschedule,so I had to go in alone, as only my bar code matched.
I got the Visa, but the challenge now is getting an early date for my hubby and my toddler.
Going by The dates available for now (Oct 5,as at today) the baby would have come, as I'm due for an elective CS at the end of September..
Travelling without my toddler isn't an option as She's too young to be left behind..
Pls mum's, what happens if I don't use this visa for birthing Will it be a problem to use it for vacation afterwards??
It's a Medical Visa Already.
Please Advice... as I've been having sleepless nights over this.
P. S : I'm 31weeks gone. Eh yah, I know how it feels not wanting to leave your toddler behind. It is well Why not try go the emergency appointment route for your toddler especially? You will first need to choose the Oct 5 first before you now apply for it. You may just be lucky. |
