omogenaija:like someone explained, igbos say "osu" can't really explain it traditionally since i'm not 100% aware of the meaning, but i just know they're discriminated by the society around i wished all these beliefs of our ancestors and olden days would be left to lie |
well, i always say this love of a thing is not easy at all and before you enter into a marriage, please make sure all other things apart from love is in the relationship. Cos when the love starts fading away, then you need things like understanding, compartibilty, oneness, endurance, humility, patience, and lot more to make it through its so easy to just say, "if you love him/her, go for it jare" forgetting every other things that follows, we have to think some years from now, what happens?? Adeboo, i like your thought were you talked about that film , people will say, afterall its just a film but 85% of what these films portray really does happen, amybe not around us, but they do and we might be the ones that'll have to go through the situation eventually@ poster, now you said something about everybody being against you, you can try talking some sense of welcome into them, make them understand where you're coming from at the end of the day, if they still would not give you guys their blessing, then you might want to make a list of priority, ask yourself: do you love this guy enough to forsake some friends. family and others? is he worth the strive? will the family you guys create be able to survivie the discrimination? 5yrs down the road will you still be as eager to be with him as you are now? (well you can''t read the future but just give it some thought) do you guys have that "thing" it takes to make it through with nobody but yourselves? Sometimes we damn families and run into decisions, later to find out we need them more than we thought because when the going gets stuff they're the only ones to turn to. Some families are civilized enough to avoid the "i told you so", buit some arn't if yours is one of the latter, will you regret the decision you're about to take?? Dear after comsidering all that and you still feel your hapiness lies with him, and that you guys got what it takes, then go for it honey. Who knows they might change their opinions along the road ![]() And when the time comes, be sure to forgive them because they had your best interest at heart, even though atimes its selfish, and other time sit ends up not being the best afterall. No matter what you decide to do finally, i wish you luck both options require a lot of courage ![]() |
anabell:dear during the "miss world" contest we vote regardless of their nationalty and whether we know them or not ![]() Well just know that they're all nairaland users, and their pics were gotten from their profiles right now. and dearie, if you have any pics or persons in mind bring them on, this is all just fun for everybody who wants to have fun lol ![]() kellofish:LOL i thought that too |
alabiyemmy:way to go , we'll put you on the poll ![]() kellofish:you're reading my mind ![]() if i wasnt one of the thread openers(lol), he'll have my vote too ![]() |
alabiyemmy:the topic says MALE OF THE YEAR and not female of the year, if you want to view female pics, visit "miss nairaland thread" or "finest girl in nairaland", infact the female threads are uncountable ![]() so we decided to make the males imortant and appreciated too ![]() alabiyemmy:and yes you're right, the first two are hooooooooot, the others are good looking too and you know the list can't consist of just two so we hadt to find others too to make up the list and you know we all have different thoughts of what beauty is ![]() |
Omo Eko:aight, let me know when you find more ![]() |

Omo Eko:TRUE THAT ![]() omogenaija:you might be right, but we don't want to crush egos so lets leave it at that for now . . BTW beauty is in the eyes of the beholder ![]() |
LET THE CONTESTANTS APPEAR ![]() LIKE WE SAID EARLIER, IF YOU WANT TO MINGLE WITH THE GOOD LOOKING, LET THE PICTURES FLOW LOL ![]() @ OMO EKO (MY HONOURABLE PARTNER) YOU DID A GREAT JOB |
well yes you can dear, just look out for your own ![]() she might be just around the corner ![]() |
well an "igbo adage" says he who doesn't know where the rain starts/ed beating on him, does not know where it stops/ed dear, it sure sounds like you've won this battle, because you know where you come from and where you're going. You have the head and determination required to pull through ![]() Good luck hun! |
froggie:ooh that's cool, by the way thanks for the information can't really tell that much between Yoruba and Hausa names but i did guess his was Yoruba. |
IBDat:LOL to occupy the job-vaccancy i guess ![]() |
Yea, i knew he was nigerian, found that out some time ago ![]() OmoOlamide: froggie:He also features in in the tv-series "LOST" as . .eem . .Mr.Eko "Shaft" his real name though is Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje . . i guess he's Yoruba ![]() |
Well he actually does not owe us an account of his life . . somethings are better left unsaid dubious is dubious, whether an armed-robber or a drug-pusher!@ poster first of all, i advice you move out from your "tempting enviroment" because no matter how you repent, you might not be strong enough to hold back the next time they come knocking at your door ![]() summon all the strength you got in you and leave, go find a more neutral area, where you won't get yourself tempted unnecessarily, as a child of God, you shouldn't mingle with the devil if you're not strong enough to bring them to your own side, they say if you can't beat them, you join them and the latter part of the statement is what you ended up doing ![]() You see, repenting and going back to your old good ways, will not be an easy journey, but with determination, self-will and required efforts, nothing is impossible. The bibkle does say that its easire for a sinner to repent, than for a back-slider to return, but mark that it didnt say impossible Like star01 said you have to seek God's face, now no one should tell you how to go about it, whether to fast or go live on the mountain, do it in a way your spirit feels you get most contact with God. Ask him for the strength to overcome your evil ways, the strength to call it a day with all the "dubvious ways" and most importantly the strength to say "no" to it and stand by it.n You have to ask for forgiveness and honestly repent You'll be surprised at what the power of God can do, nobody, absolutely none, is above mistakes. No one is perfect, we work towards perfection though, and the Lord did say that a broken and repentant heart, he does not forsake. Dear seek his face and i promise you it shall be well. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours ![]() |
IBDat:well a year is a lot, but some love that deep. I'm sure he doesn't rejoice over his situation neither does he wish it on himself but its so and instead of robbing it on his face we should help. Like i said, the criticism would neither solve the issue nor bring the lost year back. His friends can help, but only to a point. He has to self realize that he can do better, and that a girl that loved him wouldnt have left him to wallow in misery for over a year. He has to be made to know that his future awaits him and only he can make his tomorrow a better one. Above all he should know that he deserves the best, and that even if this girl once was, its time to move on and learn from the past ![]() |
@ IBDat you're getting me hypnotised with your posts ooh. Thanks for always reading my mind, and being as realistic as possible unlike some that think generalization and digging every soul in the same shovel is the order of the day ![]() keep on keeping dear! @ Tanasha well dear, i told you earlier on this thread, and i'll tell you again. Do not judge someone by what others say, esp. when there's no proof to to what they're saying. When you love someone and you know the person loves you, you owe the person some amount of trust and benefit of doubt to come over whatever others think. Now i made it clear to you, that these people of his were just after to throw you out of his life, what friend or relation will so concerned in exposing their own person?? Never you do something because someone else that has been in your shoes had a particular outcome, we all have different destinies. Someone else's should not determine yours.I'm happy you got the answer you're looking for, and that you guys get the life you hope for. Remember, until the person is proven guilty, their chances of of innocence cannot be wiped away ![]() |
mmiri mmadu ga-anu anaghi agafe ya the water you're meant to drink, will not pass you by ![]() ebe ôgba ôsô gbalu, ka ôga ije ga-ejelu where the runner gets to , is the same place the walker will get to ônye kwe n'ihe, ô kwe na nlô if you agree in real life, then you'jj certainly agree in your dreams ![]() back soon . . ka ô bôô ![]() |
chiegemba: ![]() Omo Eko:and you girl BTW "proverb lessons" right here in my place tomorrow @ 2pm, be there or else . . lol ![]() |
i actually found it funny . . mr. Nauttyproff go pick your sense of humour ![]() LMAO @ joke ![]() |
you've gotten wonderful advices girl, and they're all good and true just for next time, never you settle for someone who doesn't love you but never you break up with someone because you love them more now that's the thing with love and relationships, one has got to love more and yes we girls always wish the guy would be the one to love more, but that is not always the case ![]() chapter two: never you settle for someone who doesn't love you either, i know some marriages acquire love on the road, but what about its chances of not doing so?? if you can take the risk then the floor is yours ![]() thirdly, our past is one thing we can't bring back, this guy might have loved you in the past and vice versa, but with time, love can fade. What if his has, do you want to tie yourself down to someone that you might end up hating ![]() but your past can lead your way into a better future, now you just have to forget this your first love (they're always difficult to get over but its not impossible ) and open your heart to new people and new love. Without that, the mission is impossible. You have toi say eneough is enough in wallowing in the past, and know that the future holds more in stock for you and only you(noone else) can uncover your bright future but you ![]() Dear, are you willing to give the future a chance (and please for the time being foget you're 29, because the thought of you going down in age, will only push you into the wrong decisions out of desperation) go out and find love, let love find you. your dream guy is waiting excitedly, but only you can show him the way ![]() |
omoge:you're right dear ![]() if you start putting so much attention into it, you might end up causing yourself some unplanned "accidents" because even when something unnecessarily "omen" happens, you 'll want to shove it the day being "friday 13th" (a day for bad omen lol) out mental state sometimes make us "fake believe" . . ![]() |
nossycheek:yea dear, like that ![]() |
Sweet T:They have a daughter together. his name?? what would you be doing with his name?? lol ![]() |
Dear, love is a hard thing ooh, and people say after marriage and some time of living together, it does degenerate a step, but then nobody said you'll have to live in misery or that you would be treated as if you didn't exist or you were a comodity give talking to him one more try, you said he loves you, right?? well then he better started showing it. Tell him you can't go on living like this, that for your sanity's sake and the sake of your daughter, you need stabilty in your marriage and in his life now i know we get married and promise for better, for worse, but you owe your daughter a whole lot too. Now if this girl should grow to be mentally hurt, or otherwise, i'm sure you wouldn't forgive yourself. If this guy loves you then he would do something about his attitude, if not then nobody would blame you for leaving. Infact what i'm even more worried for is your lives, a fraudstar is as dangerous as it gets, capable of doing anything, not withstanding she's his daughter or you're his wife. You were very young when you chose him, of course there's a lot of chances you weren't ready or wise on what you were going into, and dear when you make up your mind to leave, make sure he knows nothing about it, because the outcome might be drastic the safety of yourself and your daughter should be your first priority right now ![]() i wish you all luck darling, it shall be well just be careful (BTW who cares if his parents/family accepts the child or not, of what use would the child be if for one reason or the other she doesn't make it through life?? ) |
@ topic well a proposal is an agreement between two people (anyway that's if the person you're proposing to gives a "yes" for an answer), now how its being done shouldn't really matter that much as long as its done and both parties are happy with it. when i say a proposal is necessary, it doesn't necessarily have to mean the go-down-on-one-knee scenario, you can do it seated, holding the girl's hand, you can do it standing, popping the question and you can do it lying down, just looking into her face. you can hide the ring in her food, drinking water, wherever, you might even ask without the ring how could i forget babyosisi's touching story, you can do it while doing laundry, no matter how you choose to go about it, fine. just make it formal. I'm sure none of us wants our "black/african" men to turn whites, we just want them to tell us the "intention" in their own unique way, so we know we're part of the decision ![]() |
The One:dear, bless you ![]() its so wrong when we all leave the inside of a mango, and want to lick the outside, so so wrong the story says, the boss who also is the pastor of the girl, has been trying to convince the girl to leave the other guy. What relationship can be strongly built that way, when the girl wasn't given a choice to decide just being pulled into it ![]() why does it have to be that the family-in-law is just after his money, or that the girl will follow him because of his money.so marriage now starts and ends with money *sighs in disapproval* did anyone care to ask when the 8yrs relationship started, what if the guy hadnt travelled before they started dating, what was the girl and her parents after then?? can't it be that they just don't trust this guy?? someone that wouldn't respect a lady that is already taken, how do you think life would treat him when he gets his own lady. you people should please quit all this generalization, its getting more and more boring by the day. these people have only dated for 5months, how are you judges sure its not all infatuation, afterall this girl has all along loved and cared for her boyfriend before this joy-breaker came along ![]() lets call a spade a spade jare, and away with all this money money talk being the topic of the day, be realistic. if all you overseas boarders where to be in the uk guy's shoe would that still be your response?? what in your senses is it that makes this naija guy the right one?? because he's near. that's no excuse for love ![]() |
well darling, that's a sad one you got there ![]() but lets start from somewhere: ![]() how was he treating you before you guys got married, was he all loving and caring at the beginning and suddenly changed after the marriage?? or has he always been like that?? has he been a fraudstar all along, or he just started being one?? his family memebers, where do they reside?? are you saying you're 21?? |
