Good evening all. I have learnt a lot about investing by Robert Kiyosaki and Warren Buffet. But my problem has been applying the things I have learnt in the local Nigeria context. I have been unable to get good historical information (like what you have on MSN money) that will help in making good investment decisions.

I also wish to know the good stock brokers available here and if registration and investment can be done solely online. Thanks
before jumping to look for a stockbroker. Have you learnt about the Nigerian financial market and what opportunities there are for investment. There are various vehicles for investment what type are you looking at?

Once you start from there one can give you proper answers to your questions

For a decision, please ensure you compare the farming investment ROI rate with the TB's true yield and not the marginal rate. For 364 days at 18.48% marginal rate, true yield before fees is about 22.7% while after fees is about 22.5%.
yeah sure but it would TBills 365 days to get that 22.7% while it takes me 5 months to get 27% ROI not prorated. After 5months i can re-invest again

b. Also, remember that some crops are seasonal so your ROI is effectively annual if you chose such crops.
Also, remember that some crops are seasonal so your ROI is effectively annual if you chose such crops

Yeah sure, invested only on the 5months 27% thriveagric ,it is actually 5 months counting from the time of investment thats why there are farm closes.

there are several competitors with different models.

Wow those two are the ones i know of tho... if you can email me so we don't derail the thread further thanks

1. Remember that it is only your principal that is insured. Profit isn't.
2. If you chose the cassava option, the yield isn't far better than what you can get on the secondary market. In the past, I'd gotten 18.25% for roughly 9 months.

the poultry option makes sense sha.

this thriveagric just copied everything about farmcrowdy
@this thriveagric just copied everything about farmcrowdy

Sure nice to have a competitor in a growing potential market

If you chose the cassava option, the yield isn't far better than what you can get on the secondary market. In the past, I'd gotten 18.25% for roughly 9 months

well 25% is greater and not prorated also thriveagric has better ROI with shorter tenures and i can buy more than one tho

Remember that it is only your principal that is insured. Profit isn't

Exactly that's the only issue tho but willing to take the risk
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by CuteRedd(f): 3:13pm On Aug 09, 2017
I love treasury bills but i have found a better investment for now in farmcrowdy/thriveagric with a shorter tenure and higher yield.

Then i can reinvest in treasury bills later. smiley

Note that stanbic doesn't debit you until your bid is successful and will only debit you with the discounted amount only.

However, it will freeze the face-value of your bid (though still in your account but not available for withdrawal) a day to the bidding day.

There is really no easy way to re-invest thru stanbic, however, if you have surplus amounts in the account to cover it, you can go like the example below

Let us say, you intend to invest N1m face-value at (estimated) bank rate of 18% with a tenor of 364 days

Fill a form for N1,220,000
This is N1,000,000 + N180,000 (i.e. the discount on N1m) + N40,000 (compounding discount on subsequent re-investments till discount get to zero)

Stanbic will freeze N1,220,000 on your account a day to bidding day without debiting you.

A day after the bidding, your account will only be debited with N1,000,000 and other minor commissions.

At maturity, you will be credited with N1,220,000.

Note that your yield is now 22% and not the 18% discount rate. This is called true yield when you reinvest discount at the same rate and tenor as the principal.

You goofed.
I am not a Banker,
I am a Mechanical Engineer,
I am a retired Civil Servant,
Not a single member of my family works with Stanbic.
My only account with Stanbic is a Savings account which I opened just on 7th of June this year specifically for Treasury Account because they are the BEST for Primary Market and are next to First Bank that i have been Banking with for about 30yrs.
I also have my Retirees Account with Stanbic
.
I am only in love with the Bank bacause of their services and performance with very robust returns on investments (ROI).

If you are not aware, Stanbic is an international Bank and it's the 2nd or 3rd best performing Bank in Nigeria after GTB and their share holders smile home yearly while as PFA (Pension Fund Administrator), they are second to none in this country with the highest returns on Pension Contribution Savings.

So I can't but sing their praise because it's "7up" I.e "The difference is not only clear, but very clear"
Hello Tony56 do you have any knowledge of stanbic's secondary market rate as at today?

Well people can only speak for themselves and what they know. I have been to both stanbic and fistbank to make enquiries on the secondary market rates. Trust me Stanbic offered a very juicy rate which i could have gone for but the stress of opening new Stanbic account and transferring my funds from fbn made me to stick with FBN. In addition the rates of stanbic have little or no difference to that of fbn just that 1% is material when dealing wih large sum of money. I hope i av told u my own reasons!
thanks alot appreciate you taking time to explain. I have learnt alot in three days.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by CuteRedd(f): 12:22pm On Jul 29, 2017
Why is it we see alot of first bank rates shared but little of stanbic IBTC secondary market rate shared? Also it is said that first bank is the "king of the secondary market and juicy rates"

But when asked which bank to go for people advise stanbic IBTC... Why is that pls?

Yes! I received mine today though i have done the investment like 2weeks ago. You can use the proof of investment to seek a loan (collateral) from banks or lending houses.
that means every time you invest you should be given a certificate rite?

Hello ernie4life, for mutual funds is it a must to continue to add money to the initial investment made?

Also do stanbic IBTC MMF have charges on investment made?

mindtricks:
The rates are not constant, it depends on what you meet at the bank at the moment. And this has to do with the secondary market as the primary market option is only open once in two weeks. The next date being next week Wednesday.
I can't quote a rate on 91 day tenure now cos I don't have that info now.
thanks would head to stanbic tomorrow appreciate your help

No difference if you mean the snapdragon version of the note 4. Take note, the different versions of Redmi note 4 is in the processor used, whether snapdragon or mtk, most of us here prefer the snapdragon because of great battery performance. Take a look at available versions :
Redmi note 4 mtk - 2gig ram, 16gig rom
Redmi note 4 mtk - 3gig ram, 32gig rom
Redmi note 4 mtk - 3gig ram, 64gig rom
Redmi note 4 sd - 3gig ram, 32gig rom
Redmi note 4 sd - 4gig ram, 64gig rom
Redmi note 4x sd - 3gig ram, 16gig rom
Redmi note 4x sd - 3gig ram, 32gig rom
Redmi note 4x mtk-4gig ram, 64gig rom

Again, the major difference is in the process used, either mtk or snapdragon. The list might even grow, because this people are silent killers grin.
ok thanks pls pardon my questions

So Apparently no difference between
Redmi note 4 sd - 3gig ram, 32gig rom and Redmi note 4x sd - 3gig ram, 32gig rom ?

As i am very particular about battery (after infinix have killed me embarassed) so i would like to go for the better battery performance

Also how much is:
1. Redmi note 4 sd - 3gig ram, 32gig rom
2. Redmi note 4 sd - 4gig ram, 64gig rom
3. Redmi note 4x sd - 3gig ram, 32gig rom

and how can you help me get it

Yesterday was a very wonderful day and I stepped out to give myself a treat like I normally do every Sunday. There is a cool lounge I normally go chill out every Sunday alone and I am very use to the place.

Yesterday when I was there to chill and watch a match, take pepper soup and my special wine, I observed a certain lady siting alone on one side. At first I honestly didn't pay any attention to the Lady because I felt she was waiting for someone. Over an hour went by and she was still there alone and what made me start wondering was the fact that she took just a bottle of malt for over one hour.

Somehow I went to ease myself and on my way back I just tried to greet her and when she responded nice I asked her to join me on in my table. I then offered her wine, peppersoup and stuffs which she accepted and was grateful then we talked at length and she told me how she traveled down to give her boyfriend a surprise visit because his birthday is today but when she got to his place, she found her bf has another lady which almost caused a big fight but she avoided it by just leaving and all. Because of the timing she was stranded because she only have money that could take her back to school but then she doesn't have were to pass the night because it was late.

To cut the long story short, after everything, I took her to a hotel, paid a night for her in a comfortable room and also gave her N10k to hold just incase of anything. I didn't enter the hotel room for anything, I did everything at the reception and when she asked for my number I declined giving her. She also pleaded I take her number but I also declined and she was shocked. I left and went my way and I know she is probably OK and on her way back to school.

I know some ladies think these things don't happen and every guy will want to go inbetween your legs before they help you. There are guys that will even do more than I did without thinking of anything.
husband material 100000 yards cheesy
