Starangel123:
Good morning everyone one, please I would like a honest review of my transcript to my visa interview.

Transcript

VO: Good morning, pass your I-20
Me: Good morning, passes I-20

VO: You’ve been here before, what has changed?
Me: The last time I was offered a master’s program with partial funding but presently, I got a fully-funded Ph.D. program with a graduate teaching assistantship.

VO: Why are you going to the United States (US)? Or What is the purpose of your trip to the US?
Me: I’m going to the US to pursue a doctorate in Chemistry with a specialization in Forensic Science at Florida International University, Miami, Florida.

VO: Where are you going?
Me: I’m going to Florida International University (FIU) Miami, Florida, for a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a specialization in Forensic Science.

VO: How did you come about this school?
Me: I got to know about FIU in my search for universities in the US that offer Ph.D. with specialization in Forensics DNA Analysis and Toxicology on the internet. In the course of my search, I came across some professors in the Chemistry and Biochemistry department with expertise in Forensic science, Toxicology, Pharmacology, and Trace evidence analysis as these areas align with my research focus. I reached out to a professor and expressed my interest and willingness to work with him as a prospective graduate student which he accepted, and so I applied, and I was offered admission.

VO: Why this school?
Me: I chose FIU because the research field of some of the best forensic researchers such as ABC, MNO, XYZ.... aligns with my research interests. As a matter of fact, FIU has one of the largest facilities for forensic and trace evidence analysis in the World. Also, I’ve had a virtual interview with Professor XYZ and he is willing to work with me.

VO: Why this program or course?
Me: I chose this course because I have been working in a Forensic lab as a DNA analyst. In the course of my work, I discovered some problems, especially with the identification of individuals involved in mass death, genetic-related diseases, paternity disputes, and crime. I recall a case of personnel beheaded in the South and the body required a complete DNA analysis for identification. We could not complete the analysis due to insufficient testing kits (reagents), inadequate equipment, and an incomplete DNA Database to identify and compare the DNA profile upon sequencing.

I was motivated by this need and decided on a program that can fill up these gaps. A research program (Ph.D.) in Forensic DNA analysis and Toxicology would provide me with the necessary knowledge and skill to think critically, solve the present problem faced in forensic labs, and create opportunities to train young researchers in this field back home.

VO: Why the US?
Me: I chose the US because my area of interest being a combination of Forensic DNA analysis and Toxicology is not available in Nigeria at the Ph.D. level. The US has some of the best forensic researchers in the world. Being a country that is advanced in terms of research facilities, I believe I will be able to work with state of the art facilities in the US and develop novel techniques to proffer solution to some of the major Forensic challenges facing Nigeria.

VO: What is your study plan?
Me: A minimum of 3.0/4.0 scale is required on an average of four (4) years program for my graduation. Prior to the start of the program, I’m expected to pass two (2) proficiency examinations in either Physical/Organic chemistry or Inorganic/Biochemistry. For the Fall semester, I will be offering nine (9) credit hours. Three (3) credit hours in Forensic Biology to be handled by Dr. ABC, three (3) credit hours in Chemical Analysis of Explosives taken by Dr. XYZ and another three (3) credit hours in Pharma/Toxicology of Drugs taken by Dr. 123. Overall, a minimum of seventy-five (75) credit hours inclusive of six (6) credit hours in Thesis is required for graduation in the program.

VO: What is your research interest/focus?
Me: My research focus is centered, on but not limited to Forensic science and toxicology. I will be focusing on the application of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) in the study of degraded DNA for identification, and methods for ultra-trace analysis of xenobiotics (drugs, toxins, pollutants) and their metabolites in humans and the environment.

VO: What is your plan after your studies? Or What will this degree/program do for you?
Me: Upon completion of my Ph.D. program, I would come back to Nigeria, assume a higher position, and work as a Forensic Specialist with the Government, especially the Nigerian Military to manage the ABC, which is the First Forensic laboratory, and one of the best in Nigeria. I would continue my research on DNA analysis and toxicology to identify, analyze, quantify and proffer solutions to genetic-related issues and toxic substance abuse which is a major problem and on the rise daily in my country.
My long-term goal is to set up my forensic laboratory to train young researchers in this field of study back home.

VO: Who’s sponsoring your studies? Or I see you have a fully-funded scholarship, so who’s paying for your flight ticket?
Me: Florida International University is sponsoring about 99% of my studies, I was given a tuition waiver, living expenses, medical insurance, books, and supplies, however, I would be paying for my flight ticket to and from the US.

VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: My highest qualification is a Masters in Molecular Drug Metabolism and Toxicology.

VO: What is your background? Or When did you graduate?
Me: I bagged a Master’s in Molecular Drug Metabolism and Toxicology with a CGPA of 3.76/4.0 scale from ABC university, in 2014 and my first degree in Biochemistry with a second-class upper from XYZ university, in 2009.

VO: What have you been doing after graduation? What do you do presently?
Me: I have been working as a DNA Analyst at ABC and 123 since graduation. Presently, I work as a DNA Analyst at 123.

VO: Why did you change your job (from Government to Private)?
Me: I changed my job from the government to private because I wanted to explore and compare another working environment before starting my Ph.D. so that I can have diverse laboratory experience.

VO: Did you take any standardized tests?
Me: I didn’t write any standardized test, actually the department waived the test on the grounds of my academic performance and a CGPA of 3.76/4.0 scale. The TOEFL was waived for Nigerians because our language of instruction is English.

VO: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: Three (3) schools.

VO: What do they all have in common?
Me: All schools have similar research areas in my field of study, experienced faculty members, well equipped and state of the art facilities. They have a low faculty size (student-faculty ratio), as well as a high faculty interaction which paves the room for increased learning.

VO: Have you traveled before? Or have you been to the US before?
Me: No, I haven’t had any reasons to travel.

VO: Do you have any family in the US?
Me: No, actually all of my family are back here in Nigeria.

VO: Are you married?
Me: No I’m not.

VO: Why are you not married?
Me: I have a strong desire to complete my Ph.D. then return back to Nigeria to get married. I want my children to be raised in Nigeria because I love my culture and that is what I want them to learn.

VO: Have you made travel plans?
Me: No, I haven’t made any travel plans.

VO: Where will you be staying?
Me: I would be staying on campus as I’m in contact with my program advisor and coordinator. They are assisting with getting a space on campus for me.
I HOPE you get your visa. Welcome to Miami Florida in advance. The Nigerian community at FIU are fantastic and would be one of the best people you will ever meet. They make my stay in fort Lauderdale Florida memorable.

Secondly, PCI-DSS won’t help you if someone does the same social engineering he does with your bank account on you.

Thirdly, SEC registered advisers is not the same as the funds are regulated by the SEC. The partners registered with the NSE and SEC in Nigeria doesn’t mean those funds are regulated by those 2 bodies.

I am wary of companies who use marketing gimmicks to obscure the truth.
Great concerns i know this was raised in the telegram group also and i know they are working on leveraging SEC license with ARM while working on getting their direct license. Also they don't deal with NSE.
You can also know more and ask questions by joining the telegram group. They are very transparent.

Security at Rise
Rise uses state of the art, PCI-DSS compliant, bank grade security and two factor authentication to protect your accounts. That’s better than your bank. We are SEC registered investment advisers in the US and your funds are overseen by our partners who are also registered with the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) so you know that your funds are safe and regulated at the highest standard of compliance.

You are correct., Your strategy is good

One of the reasons I can't buy Amazon or Google, they are far really long term, one year and above.

I use bamboo that charge me 1.5% for buying and selling, so whenever I buy, I always remember.i will be losing 3%. It helps me Decide and plan.
USE ETORO TO TRADE NO TRADING FEES. USE BAMBOO FOR LONG TERM STOCKS

Lol, again stats could be deceiving. Dou you know that LeBron was double teamed in that series? And therefore Kyrie had too many good looks to open shots. Again, watch the games and analyse them properly and you might learn a thing or two.
NOW STATS CAN BE DECEIVING? shocked But you keep bringing up Curry’s stats and refusing to acknowledge how he was triple teamed all through the finals. You reek of double standards and low b-ball IQ. undecided

Hypocrites, shameless ones if I might add saw nothing wrong with the Decision where 3 lottery picks in their prime, two of whom were arguably top 5 in the league teamed to form the mother of Super Teams.

My stance has always been if you had no issue with that Decision at the time and the unfair advantage it gave the Heat then unless you're a hypocrite you should have no issues with KD's move either. No point arguing about whose fart stinks worse
They bashed KD but see nothing wrong with Lebron bringing in AD and possibly another All star. Lebron hasn’t won any chip without 3 all stars!!! Pathetic double standards!

You have a point though. He is better than Jerebko, Cook, Bell, Harrison Barnes etc.

But, I will still prefer KD stayed.
yeah same but Windhorst has reported he wants to play for another team but would like 5yrs and the money that comes with it. So this is the only way warriors don’t at least lose him for nothing. Who knows he might change his mind after one year.

But I think he is too sensitive to change his mind. Twitter would rip him apart.!

You are right but me I am not buying the RJ Barret guy. Too selfish and a basic shooter. His ceiling is high though.
nothing will humble him more than coming to a championship team surrounded by champions and Draymond green all things being equal grin He would be humbled.
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by CuteRedd(f): 12:32am On Jun 21, 2019
Eruditor:
As much as I like KD, I don't mind too. We lost a great bench because of him (which was worth it) but I did not like the whole shenanigans his free agency was causing as a result of his tacit silence (if there was any such construction). The fact of the matter is, we would need him to face some of these super-team elect simply because the NBA can influence a game or 2 even with KD here, but it is impossible to fix a series. We are just that good with him. And unlike some naysayers here, I expect KD to fully recover as a player. His game was not built on his athleticism alone and it is not like he is known for his blistering speed or jump. He is still a pure shooter with great length and has 4 more years of playing at the top.
While this is true, the nba won’t let him be if he remains/finish his career with the warriors. The guy is just too sensitive and not built that way. So we better start looking at other options available. We need better bench players and solid vets.

I like the idea of a sign and trade for Durant. He recuperates for one year and be traded elsewhere for solid assets. We might even get RJ Barrett from the knicks.

Bad as it bad Durant gets his money while having the opportunity of playing in another team with the 5years money. Who knows run it back for one more year for a title with the warriors.

Warriors keeps the core team while having the opportunity to trade Durant for solid assets.

I like it
