Sick President Umaru Yar'Adua "returns" tonight, Still in coma, life support Decoy aircraft to take him to Kano enroute Abuja Empty air ambulance, Presidential Aircraft to land in Abuja How Bush, Rice, Blair made it happen There are strong indications that after over 70 days in a Jeddah hospital, sick President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua is set to” return” to Nigeria. The decoy aircraft ferrying him will touch down in Kano at approximately 3am Wednesday morning. From Kano, the terminally ill President will be spirited into Abuja where efforts are already in top gear to ensure the intensive care unit of the N10billion Presidential Villa clinic is in top form to wire him up. This sudden departure took the six ministers who left for Saudi Arabia Monday night unawares. Pointblanknews.com sources disclosed that after spending one hour with the Saudi King, the lame duck delegation headed for the hospital, only to be told Yar’Adua had been discharged. Pointblanknews.com learnt Wednesday evening from very privileged sources that the Presidential aircraft and an air ambulance would land in Abuja to throw off the public, most especially the local and international media. The sudden return, political pundits told pointblanknews.com last night, would not alter the equation as the status quo would definitely remain. According to pundits, if Yar’Adua is put on life support in Abuja, the Acting President would still call the shots, and the invocation of section 144 may be a matter of days. Pointblanknews.com gathered that the visit of US Ex President George Bush, Ex National Security Adviser, Condoleezza Rice, and Ex British Prime Minister, Tony Blair speeded up the end of the drama that has attracted foreign concern and produced an Acting President. advertisement According to our source, during a media event in Nigeria, Bush was asked to outline the consequences of the absence of Yar’Adua for over 80 days. This question prompted the ex president to contact Washington D.C. Sources disclosed that Bush then outlined the political consequences of Yar’Adua’s action in a telephone conversation with President Barak Obama, who in turn briefed Secretary Of State, Hillary Clinton. As most Nigerians continue to speculate about the role of the Saudi Government, Washington, it was gathered, put a call through to the Saudi authorities concerning their role in the over 70 day’s old drama. After brainstorming on the consequences of Yar’Adua’s continued stay, the US, through Clinton mildly pushed for the immediate discharge of the sick president. During the conversation between both governments, sources said, the Saudi government maintained that they had no hand his continued stay and the string of denial of access to his hospital ward. The Saudi monarch then directed that the Nigeria President be discharged even if he has to be on life support in Abuja. Our sources hinted that the monarch took the very difficult stance when he was faced with the attendant political and diplomatic consequences that may sprout. The decision to discharge the sick president despite his very bad state, sources disclosed, was not opposed by his wife Turai, who in concert with the ADC, and CSO had prevented Nigerians from having access to her husband. The kitchen cabinet led by Turai, had no choice considering the intervention of the US. However, the status quo was definitely in Turai’s flank favor. They had wanted to keep his state of health a mystery, so as to avoid a possible impeachment or invocation of section 144 based on health grounds. Source: http://www.pointblanknews.com/os2940.html |

Two airplanes have arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja 10 minutes apart; the first one landing at exactly 1:46 a.m. local time. It is believed that the sick Nigerian "leader," Umaru Yar'Adua, was on board the first, presumably an Air Ambulance. Saharareporters broke the story of Yar'Adua's possible return to the country a few hours ago. In a surreal manoeuvre, that first aircraft switched off all its lights after landing and disappeared into a secluded area of the airport. The ground ambulance also switched off its lights as it slipped into the same corner as the first aircraft. Sources at the airport said they suspected Yar'Adua was secretly evacuated into the Ground Ambulance from the Air Ambulance. It is also believed that the first plane is an air ambulance, and the second the Presidential jet that conveyed Yar'Adua to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. A convoy of cars with the ground Ambualnce left the Airport at 2:45 Am exactly one hour after the two aircrafts arrived Abuja. There was no airport ceremony and the horde of journalists that thronged the airport was prevented from coming near the Presidential wing. An Ambulance propositioned at the Airport approached one of the aircraft and zoomed off after a while. Two battalions of the Nigerian Army were deployed in Abuja without the knowledge of the **Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan. Visitors to Jonathan who were leaving the Presidential Villa were searched and mocked by soldiers that had been freshly deployed to the premises. Saharareporters sources said members of Yar'Adua's kitchen cabinet members have told Jonathan not to sit on the President's seat at the Federal Executive Council meeting tomorrow, but that could not immediately been confirmed. The cabinet delegation to Saudi Arabian which failed to see Yar'Adua in that country is expected back in Nigeria tomorrow. I will wager that this lunatic President is long dead. . .the Saudi King probably got pissed-off enough that he commanded that the loser be repatriated immediately! Otherwise, think about it: why is it that he refused to meet with the ministers supposedly bringing letters from the highest organs of government of another country? No photo ops to showcase his joy at helping the president of another country? Is it not obvious that his advisers would have been asking him to hands-off for it is a losing game? It is better to do the right thing (may be a bit late) than to be wrong to the bitter end! As for me, this useless president is dead! How come he won't show-up during the day during business hours? Shouldn't he be immediately heading to 'work' to prove that he has indeed been fine and has been watching soccer all the while?? |

Members of the Governors’ Forum and the House of Representatives, the Principal Secretary to the President and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party were not the only people barred from seeing hospitalised President Umaru Yar‘Adua in Saudi Arabia, Saturday Punch investigations have revealed. Some members of the Yar‘Adua family were also prevented from seeing their ailing brother at the King Faisal Specialist and Research Hospital, Jeddah by the First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar‘Adua, recently. Sources close to the family disclosed this to our correspondent on Friday even as the newspaper learnt that the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation had procured Saudi visas for all the ministers selected to visit Yar’Adua in Jeddah. President Yar’Adua has been on admission for acute pericarditis at the Arabian hospital since November 23, 2009. Saturday Punch investigations revealed that Turai allegedly prevented some key members of Yar‘Adua‘s extended family from visiting the ailing President at the hospital recently. It was learnt that the President’s sisters had bought tickets and were billed to travel to Saudi Arabia to see things for themselves when they were asked to stay back by Turai for reasons she did not disclose. One of the sisters said to be resident at the Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja, and others who are said to be worried about the health of their sibling were said to have been stunned by the decision of the First Lady, an impeccable source told our correspondent. According to the source, the only person from the Yar’Adua family who could not be prevented from seeing the number one citizen is a younger brother of the President, a Lt. Colonel in the Army. The source added that the colonel was the only close extended family member that had been to Jeddah to see the President since his illness worsened. The source added that one of the wives of the late elder brother of the President, Gen. Musa Yar‘Adua, an Ethiopian lady, who had four children for the elder Yar’Adua, was also dissuaded from travelling to see the president. It was learnt that only three people has access to the President in the Saudi hospital; the Chief security Officer to the President, his Aide de Camp and Turai. It is only these three that have information about President Yar’Adua’s state of health. Since the illness became protracted, several highly placed Nigerians have made futile efforts to see the President. For in stance, a delegation of the Governors‘ Forum led by its chairman, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and comprising Gabriel Suswan of Benue State; Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State; Isa Yuguda of Bauchi; and the President‘s Economic Adviser, Dr. Tanimu Yakubu, travelled to Jeddah on November 29 last year, but was not allowed to see the President. On December 26, 2009, the president‘s Principal Secretary, Mr. David Edevbie, also travelled to Saudi Arabia but was not allowed to see his ailing boss. A delegation of the House of Representatives led by Shehu Agaie (Niger State) and comprising Ali Ndume (Borno), Patrick Ikhariale (Edo State), Moruf Fatai (Lagos State) and Jibril Adamu (Kaduna State) also went to the hospital on February 9 but after waiting for five days without seeing Yar‘Adua, it returned to Nigeria. And just last week, a delegation of the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party led by the party‘s National Chairman, Chief Vincent Ogbulafor, also travelled to Jeddahbut was reportedly barred by Turai from seeing the President. Meanwhile, the six-man delegation raised by the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday to visit the president may depart for Jeddah on Sunday, even though that departure remained uncertain as at Friday. Reliable sources in Abuja told Saturday Punch that the SGF collected the ministers passports on Thursday, took it to the Saudi Arabia embassy in Abuja and returned it with visas on Friday. He also added that a decision had been taken that the delegation should depart for Saudi Arabia on Sunday. The delegation is expected back on Monday to brief the FEC about its findings next Wednesday. Sunday is a working day in Saudi Arabia, the flight is expected to take about five hours and the delegation may not spend more than an hour at the hospital if things work according to plan. However, a source was also quick to add that there was uncertainty about the departure date, saying, “Although the ministers now have their visas, the Sunday departure date has not been confirmed or cancelled. So, no one knows if the trip will take place on that day.” The delegation comprising the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed; the Ministers of Justice, Adetokunbo Kayode; Agriculture, Abba Ruma; Foreign Affairs, Ojo Maduekwe; Health, Babatunde Osotimehin; and Petroleum, Rilwan Lukman, will also pay a courtesy call on the King of Saudi Arabia. But the inability of the previous delegations to see Yar’Adua has given rise to concerns that the FEC team may not be allowed to see him at the King Faisal Hospital. It was another heavy legal punch in the face in London today for James Ibori, the thieving former governor of Delta State, as his associates lost further appeals before the Royal Courts of Justice (High Court) in a last-ditch effort to avoid being tried for their money-laundering offences. They had appealed the ruling of Judge Christopher Harding of the Southwark Crown Court which was to begin criminal trial of three associates of Ibori today. Ibori's high priced lawyers went to the High Court to contest the ruling by Judge Harding which discountenanced Ibori's dismissal before at the former governor's kangaroo Federal High Court in Asaba in November 2009. It would be recalled that Justice Marcel Awokulehin, who was handpicked and paid off to the tune of $5 million by Ibori, at that time dismissed the 170-count charge against him. Following the despicable "discharge"by Justice Awokulehin and as reported by Saharareporters, Ibori's lawyers in London went before the Southwark Crown judge to file a motion to quash the London charges contingent upon the compromised Asaba ruling. Judge Harding last month denied the motion and set the trial date for today, February 16. Instead, Ibori's lawyers headed for the Royal Court of Appeal. In a ruling delivered by Justice Hughes late this afternoon in London, the High Court dismissed the appeal and agreed that the trial should start tomorrow February 17th 2010 at 14.00hrs GMT at the same Southwark Crown Court. Ibori's humbled defence lawyers were looking very perplexed after todays events, as it finally dawned on them that all the schoolboy delay tactics and half-cooked appeals had failed. Equally impressive, they have to wake up tomorrow and head straight to court to begin the trial that their strategies suggest they wanted to avoid at all cost. Today's development is another serious setback for Ibori, who just last week lost his right hand man at the Nigerian Ministry of Justice, the powerful and notoriously corrupt Attorney General of Nigeria, Michael Aondokaa, who was removed last week by the Nigerian "Acting President" Goodluck Jonathan. Aondoakaa has been instrumental to frustrating both the Nigerian and the UK trial of James Ibori and his associates after he was handed his first bribe of N280 million cash in 2007 soon after he was appointed the AGF. Andoakaa, demoted to the Ministry of Special Duties, fled the country on "vacation" and is reported to be in Brazil. When Andoakaa showed up in England last September in connection with his efforts to influence the forthcoming trial, he was chased out of the City of London by Nigerians who used a novel phone call-in to his hotel to hound him until he left. Tomorrow, when Ibori's associates appear in court, Aondoakaa's influence will be absent, and with Umaru Yar'Adua fighting for life in Saudi Arabia, Ibori's sister, mistress, secretary and lawyer--armed with lawyers who lost their swagger in the High Court today--can only hope and pray. Nigeria's ailing "president," Umaru Yar'Adua, may be in far worse condition at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah than has previously been revealed to the Nigeria public. He appears to be abandoned and isolated, with a Saudi official ominously saying Yar'Adua will soon be delivered to Nigeria "dead or alive.". This is the devastating picture the delegation of the House of Representatives, which returned from the kingdom this morning, brought back. The delegation returned after a fruitless five-day visit in search of Yar’adua via Emirates Airlines to Lagos. Sources in Jeddah said that as hard as they tried, members of the delegation failed to set eyes on the ailing Nigerian leader on even one occasion. But they met Yar'Adua's wife, Hajia Turai, on the third day of their visit and were alarmed at her "bad shape," as she has lost weight considerably, and her few words, insisting that it is Allah that gives power and life and he would do whatever he like with it. Turai however confided in a member of the delegation said to be close to her that she is very disappointed in the "Katsina boys" in the government as they have paid little or no attention to their principal's core needs, only jostling for power in Abuja and amassing wealth. She told the source that she was aware that Sayyad Abba Ruma had approached “Acting President” Jonathan Goodluck to be made VP. Saharareporters learned that upon their arrival in Jeddah, members of the delegation were given a program drawn up by the Nigerian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Abdullah Aminchi, in which he offered sweet deals for them to embark on an all-expenses paid Umrah in Mecca and to also visit Medina. That program would have taken three days off their schedule. But fearing that the Nigerian public was watching every move they made, they rejected the offer and insisted upon seeing Yar’Adua in order to pay homage and deliver the solidarity and get-well wishes of the House. Strangely, they were only permitted to meet Yar'Adua's Aide-De-Camp, who assured them as usual that the president was doing “well” but couldn’t meet them as he was “resting” in the Royal wing of the hospital. He asked if they would love to tour the kingdom or move to better hotels, but the group reportedly turned down the offer and insisted they wanted to see Yar’Adua. It was when negotiations became intense and the delegation found they were making no progress that they requested that they meet Turai, which they did on the third day. Members of the delegation were shocked at her condition and her countenance, which may suggest she may be losing hope. The delegation was able to meet Yar’Adua’s physicians who said they could not disclose anything to them since the Yar'Adua family and the Saudi government had signed a confidentiality agreement with them. They however told the delegation that no one could enter to see Yar’adua because there are lots of complications for now, and that he is totally isolated due to various infections. What appears to be the most disconcerting point of the visit was the statement by the Saudi government official that they would be discharging Yar’Adua to Nigeria “dead or alive” sometime soon. The delegation was led by House Minority Leader, Hon. Ali Ndume, and included, Hon. Baba Shehu, Hon. Patrick Ikhariale, Hon. Moruf Akinderu and Hon. Jubril Adamu. When they as they group began its initial maneuvers, they dropped Hon. Nnenna Ukeje from Abia State. Our reporters sighted two members of the delegation-Baba Shehu and Ali Ndume as they made to board an Aero Contractor flight to Abuja at 3:30 PM Nigerian time. The delegation would be reporting back to the House next week Tuesday, but already there are fears that the Speaker, Dimeji Bankole, might block the report due to his corruption and cash-backed loyalty to the Yar’Adua dynasty.
