Rawani: If you read carefully through my response, you would see I mentioned that northern states (I'm sure of Kano & Sokoto) offer free basic education for all, it was an issue recently when it was claimed only indigenes benefited from the scheme, but it was discovered to be false. only Kano and sokoto, what about the remaining 17 northern states?..The issue is that parents up there takes this issue of religious classes more serious than basic education. I'm not saying that they should abandon religious classes because we still do it here( bible studies & cathecism classes) but their basic education should be say 90% & religious classes take 10% .. |
Politics › Re: Literacy And The North - by Rawani by CyberWolf: 6:31pm On Feb 12, 2015 |
Rawani: As it is, the almajiri system is almost erased by post-modernism, what remains are impoverished children of impoverished parents who send their children to get Islamic education from local scholars, who in turn send them out to beg for alms and food to sustain themselves and their 'school'. I can boldly state that less than 10% of the urban population of children in northern states practice almajiranchi, as basic western education is free is most (if not all) northern states. The bulk of the almajiri are in the rural areas which lack necessary educational infrastructure, which is being addressed.
Let me remind you that no parent wants their child to beg, it is mostly as a result of poverty. I know Sheikhs who have extra-moral lessons organized in their houses for their children, and sometimes neighbours as well. It is a complex issue, one which has to be handled carefully so that the rights of individuals to religion will not be infringed upon. but what are your governors doing?..if a poor state like my state Ebonyi, can offer free primary and secondary education, why can't your governors can't do so? Basic education can do better for them, their family and the society at large than all this religion stuffs... |

vandutchboy: We sent troops to Sierra Leane and Liberia during Obasanjo time to help them with their civil war ,our Army was regarded as the best in Africa. Can you imagine Obasanjo having Chad and Niger help us stop an insurgency in our own country and within our borders. This is the biggest shame for Nigeria,we have never had it this bad wh cant you see this and keep making excuses. is Nigeria the only country that sent troops to Liberia/Seria Leone? ...It's an ECOMOG team made up of other west African states.. |
Politics › Re: Goodluck Jonathan Spent $32bn Dollars On Defence In Five Years – Buhari by CyberWolf: 8:31am On Feb 10, 2015 |
vandutchboy: It speaks volume it was during Goodluck Joanthan time the army had sabateur and for the first time in Nigeria history we had to rely on our neighbour to fight a war withing our countries boundary it is beyond shameful.Next time Goodluck Jonathan goes for a meeting with the African Union he shoud put a paper bag because of the shame and disrespect other African leaders will have for him,for bringign the giant of Africa to disrepute and shame. you are not being sincere my friend..How many war have we fought since after the civil, even during the civil war, Nigeria relied on Britain to win the war.. BH is a guerrilla warfare not a conventional warfare and for the fact that it spans through borders, so we have to involve our neighbors because it's also affecting them..Nothing like shame when he attends AU meeting..The truth is that the money being spent is very small compared to defence/military cost nowadays.. |

Allohrandy: I didn't experience any difficulty collecting my pvc in PH tho because I collected my PVC early. Some people just like fire brigade approach and wait for the last days to collect their pvc. Its going to be hard collecting your pvc if you wait till the last mins. The truth is that it seems people here in the south have a lower voters apathy than the northerners. Most people I know don't even plan on voting. nothing like fire brigade approach..When people go there, they will tell you that your PVC is not yet ready, that they are producing it batch by batch, blablabla..how do you reconcile that? Even during registration, millions couldn't register because few registration centers...one registration center alone had like 10,000 people who want to register and highest they register per day was 100...Jega is not telling us the truth.. |

vandutchboy: Military capacity of 300,000,why is small Chad and Niger more effective in the war because they have weapons provided to them that has not been given to the Nigerian army, which was mostly embezzled.Chad and Niger have been fighting for a few weeks and have already made so much progress. Nigeria has never had it this bad.During Abacha and Obasanjo regime we used to send troops to Sierra Leone,Liberia to help these countries.Never in the 54 years Nigeria has had independence have we had to rely on our neighbours, its a big shame which is extremly embarrasing. Tell me which regime Nigeria needed help from our neighbouring countries to fight our own internal insurgency. Goodluck Jonathan is the worse thing to happen to Nigeria thank God you are the one saying 300,000 and how can you maintain 300,000 active men with roughly 5billion dollars per year? Salary,allowance,pension/gratuity, procurement, maintenance & upgrade, etc...haba..Not to talk more of sabotage and moles in the army..Chad and Niger don't have saboteur, that's why it's like they are having upper hand coupled with the fact that they just joined the war, so the strength and morale is still high...do you know that Chad lost 17 men in one battle?..that's to tell you how sophisticated the war is... |
Politics › Re: Nazim Mimiko Nominated To Replace Jega From March 1, 2015 by CyberWolf: 7:56am On Feb 10, 2015 |
Allohrandy: I don't think you are fair to critise Jega for the low collection of pvc in the south. In the north, most state governors declare public holiday for people to go collect their pvc and the people were also mobilized by their local politicians. However in the south most people don't really care about the election. For example in my compound in PH, only about 40% have collected their pvc. Most of them will tell you that pdp andAPC don't feed them so why should they waste their time to collect their pvc and vote in the election. I think the south governors need to do more in educating and mobilizing the people in collecting their pvc. Its not jega fault that their is low collection of pvc. I bet you that when the collection date ends in march, most southern states would still not get above 70% because some people just don't care and INEC cant force people to collect their pvc its a lie..if they don't care, why going through the stress to register in the first place?...The truth is that Jega deliberately made collection of PVCs difficult in the south and for that, he must go |
