We love majoring in the minor in this country. Afuro ebe ebidoro aka ebido n'ikpere. |
Same old same old...ApC and PdP, all are same: political survival to loot. |
The sit-tight syndrom of rule or die in Africa. Nobody wants to resign nd face the proper medication needed as if one is immortal... I pray for PMB everyday, but he can seal his name on marble by doing the needful. |
idupaul:[quote author=idupaul post=52797255]If indeed you r Catholic my reply to you goes thus: CAN just like Christendom originally started solely by Catholic church, a church which has always being levelheaded in its endeavors without sounding sanctimonious. The church has suffered more than any splinter church around in the attacks and is not a pushover whether CAN`s new administrator likes it or not. |
Cool Flavour, but that is not Ijele, it is Mgbelike or so, if my roots still serve me right. Big up to him. Africans should know we can't be more RnB than R kelly or any American genre. |
Bishop Kukah aptly defines it: A fellow right activist friend who got a place in Abj. nd stopped criticizing the govt., wen he was asked the reason by the Bishop, he replied ''I learnt a great lesson wen I got there, wen u r eating, u don't talk!'' |
I see Fayemi is learning hands on politiking of 'stomach infrastructure' taught him by Fayose. 2019 would be indeed competitive. |
'Very weak and spurious allegations' did not start today. Let the PCAC rise up and advise PMB on the seeming witch-hunt of politi al 'enemies'! What is good for the goose is good for the gander ![]() |
Heard she gave excuse about her health while being probed
Doesn't look ill to me...all is politics. |
If anything I love about Adiche, it is that you know where she stands on issues, even b4 asking her opinion. Adiche concern for Nigeria is never in question, afterall, who are her characters in her novels? She is an international figure. Period. Adiche is using the medium available to her to make impact in Igboland, Nigeria, Africa and the world at large. |
''...It is a Nigerian disease. Nigerians need to be purged of a certain kind of arrogance of expectations, of demand, of self-attribution, of a spurious sense and assertion of entitlement. It goes beyond art and literature. It covers all aspects of interaction with others. Wherever you witness a case of ‘It’s MINE, and no other’s’, ‘it’s OURS, not theirs’, at various levels of vicarious ownership, such aggressive voices, ninety percent of the time, are bound to be Nigerians. This is a syndrome I have had cause to confront defensively with hundreds of Africans and non-Africans. It is what plagues Nigeria at the moment – it’s MY/OUR turn to rule, and if I/WE cannot, we shall lay waste the terrain. Truth is, predictably, part of the collateral damage on that terrain.'' Prof. Wole Shoyinka What am I getting at? Imagine some Mbaise clergy against the installation of Msgr. Okpaleke as the Bishop of Ahiara, because he is not 'a son of Mbaise soil'. When would this disease stated by Prof. above cease? By the by, my lordship, congrats on the installation. Hope you have a wonderful tenure. You are equal to the task, as your book 'Consultative process and not democracy in the Catholic church' 2012 seen from hindsight acknowledges. Imagine Germans saying they won't accept Francis I because Benedict XVI didn't 'finish' his tenure... |
Joining all the interminable eulogies both fom avowed foes and friends, fellow thespians and the ne'er do well...Chinua's death, though said at some quarters to be at its prime considering the average life span of nigerians, was just heart-breaking. He waited to no end to see a country worthy of the name. Be rest assured, sir, son of Achebe, we would never leave that which you stood foor:pricking those who think what one picks from the teeth assuage hunger, not knowing it makes one greedy till he/she meets the waterloo. You have shed blood as your strength allows. |
All this 'closed' door debates...Hope there was indeed one in the first place. ![]() |
Any news about pasting of list yet? |
Are there things WS said that am not seeing? Beacause most of this thread here have either misunderstood him or are still trying to turn deaf ear to his quite lucid interview. Most times, it is underlings of greats that fight even when there is no fight as such between them for that! Lets not make mountains out of mole hill. |
romises to give them another state. Promises to build a new niger bridge. And of course, promises to promise more#winks# Promises to make Enugu capital of Bayelsa# this by his 'young' son# All this for 2015 mandate? The guy is good in oratory. You fool me once, shame on you. You fool me twice, shame on me. All this 'promises' are like those made by a lad when he wants to lay a lass; forgotten when he 'climbs' down. |
so How much did you rake from Abia state those 8 yrs in power? It is all dance of the dog: rub my back, and I rub yours. |
Even you Brutus nay Reuben? Why do people not do what they preach? Or better put, why do people not preach what they do? The revered clergyman and local ordinary of Sokoto, Hassan Kukah said recently about a conversation he had with a friend that got appointed into government and stopped criticizing their foibles as he did before, “ I asked him sir, what is happening up there? Why are you no longer vocal?” and he replied, grinning sardonically “…Fr, well, you know when I reached there, I was taught table manners vis a vis not talking while eating!” I know that they were all doing their various jobs creditably, but whither their conscience? Isn’t it better to do the right thing at all time than soil hard earned reputation at the altar of mammon? Let us remember that posterity, that mildest of masters would not fail to be cruel to those who are not steadfast and accountable on the long run. |

The revered clergyman and local ordinary of Sokoto, Hassan Kukah said recently about a conversation he had with a friend that got appointed into government and stopped criticizing their foibles as he did before, “ I asked him sir, what is happening up there? Why are you no longer vocal?” and he replied, grinning sardonically “…Fr, well, you know when I reached there, I was taught table manners vis a vis not talking while eating!” What paradox, don’t you say! I still admire a few Nigerians who have stood steadfast though: Like Steve Orasanya, that trailblazer that touched the Civil Service; Adams Oshiomole, our comrade governor; Dora Akunyili, Madam NAFDAC; Nuhu Ribadu, the former EFCC czar; Abike Dabiri, indeed a honourable lawmaker; Dino Melaye; Barth Nnaji, one of the few ministers to resign because of principle. To mention but a few. You are all beacons for us, the youth. However on the other side of the coin and like Kukah’s friend above, they include: The information minister, Labaran Maku, you would be surprised to know that he was a vocal youth activist in his hey days in the university; Reuben Abati of the Guardian, that conscience of the newspapers, is now a ‘blind’ spokesman of the President Jonathan; even the Late Livi Ajuonuma, an outspoken presenter those days in NTA, before he entered that hydra headed tower of corruption, NNPC. I know that they were all doing their various jobs creditably, but whither their conscience? Isn’t it better to do the right thing at all time than soil hard earned reputation at the altar of mammon? Let us remember that posterity, that mildest of masters would not fail to be cruel to those who are not steadfast and accountable on the long run. |
When u become a public figure, know that there won't be privacy for you ever again. Even when you retire. Quick recovery sir, the prince of Kano Emirate |
I thought ACN, ANPP and CPC are now inside APC How can they be making statements, when they no longer exist ?? |

PRIVATE mATTER: Whatz our problem, for Christ's sake? He/she is put to bed in a private hospital. Taken to creche, nursery, primary, secondary and university/polythecnic/college of education(mind you, all private). Means...? With tha parents personal endeavour, viz-a-viz school fees and feeding. And you all expect him/her to work for 'PuBlIc' good, ehn?? NOW HE/SHE IS TAKEN TO A FOREIGN LAND WITH PROMISES AND LEFT TO THE ELEMENTS. You better conclude whether it gives... |
Datz nice for nigerians. But, why are writers queer? The other day I heard Chimmamanda doesn't make her hair with foreign products. Ngwui wa thiong refuses to speak English again prefering his mother tongue swahili. Chika unigwe married a white. Wole Shoyinka is an atheist...And on and on and on. |
A militant, that is what I want to be. I am not saying that I intend to be that militant who roves about in search of plunder from people that don't share his/her ideaology; I am far too 'noble' to contemplate that. Even my principles- yeah I sure have some left- recoils from it. Don't misunderstand me, I am not saying I don't want to be militant. I just have only told you the kind I don't want to be. And the place to be this militant? Of course, not in Adamawa, Yobe, or Borno for obvious reason. What I desire is to make a career out of it in a place like Abuja and settle down in Calabar or in my hometown in Anambra. Maybe, even get an amnesty in my portfolio while at it. Oh, what a Militant I would be!!! Are you with me? ![]() |
Hmmmm... You know something about always giving orders and not following it with action? You would not be taken serious however much u repent. Lets siddon de look nah! |
Miracle: That elixir of religion. An opium sought after by many, both in the grandest of cathedrals and mosques, and in the dimmest witch doctor's coven. Where the lame find their feet; breaking their clutches. The blind regain their sight; grinding their spectacle and walking stick on the floor. And the deaf and dumb regain their ear and tongue, finding nothing to break, shout themselves hoarse. When some are wishing their mum was still around, others are tired of theirs still being alive and kicking...where are fanatics taking us to? ![]() about an hour ago · Like |
