African religion is not a way of life and religion is suppose to be away of life. African religion was formed by the personal interest of some people who discover some naturer science. It was based on the idea of protecting theri discovery. For example if any one discover a particular leave for a perticular purpose, he will demonise the process behind the stuff and call it a religion. For example, my grandfather told me about a discovery and he has an imale that protect the idea because he was the only one that knows the secrete of the solution to the problem of blindness. Now I will tell you what he told me before he died. One day while he was in the bush hunting, he discovered a parrot nest, it is natural that no one should see parrot eggs with naked eyes, so to know if the nest contain eggs or hatched you will us fresh palm leaves to test. If the fresh leave got burnt when you put is in the nest then the egg is not yet hashed. So you will wait till it is hatched. Then you will now blind all the offspring of the parrot and watch what the mother bird will do. So it will go get a particlar leave which will be used to get the baby birds to see again. You can then trace the leave and it will be used as the major agent for any blindness solution. My grand father now has an oro masquerade that anyone who need this help will have to swear by this demon called oro before he will provide whatever help on the person. The oro has their worshiper along with his own ifa group. This is how most of the traditional religions were formed. So I think trditional religion are mare ideas of people. Not of God. |

Faith could be discribed as a situation where you are sure God will do something inspite of various ungodly options available to you. Where you have no Job and everything look hopeless, and you can have a job just by exchanging sexual intercourse for one. you refused even when there is no assurance any job is there for you. Still you say God time is the best. ![]() |

Christianity is more of a way of life than religion. Religion to a lay man is simply belonging to a particular gathering holding "similar" spiritual believe. But Christianity is a way of life of Jesus Christ that He (Jesus ) Commanded. Shallom! |
Bible Education. Let everybody read the bible and pray for God guidance on the same. The bible says beware of the sheep in the Sheep Clothing. To be forewarned, I will suggest that people should know the true assembly of beleivers. Never to join any Chuirch or gathering that do not reconise that Jesus is the fulfilment of the Old testament. A true Bible beleiving Church will let you know that you are a priest through Jesus christ. They never teach anything out of the holy bible (especially New Trestament). A true Bible beleiving Church will not tell you to prepare any apparition. Ps 119:11 " Your Word I hid in my heart that I may not sin against you. Only the Word can combat the activities of fake men of God. Shallom! |
Christian Club? Christians what do you think?Details is important. |
have always wondered why it is so easy for us Africans to embrace Christianity. We aren't the only colonized people, the Asians have managed to hold on to their religions and languages( which makes up most of our identity) and some how Nigerians have only disdain for the old ways. I met a man recently and when he said he wasn't Christian but follows the old ways (ancestors et al) my first reaction was wary. Now i wonder why.Right now i'm in Brazil for the carnival and couldn't be more impressed. if the slaves with all they went through, found ways to hide their worship till this day, what does it say of us? Our movies haven't helped matters as all traditionalists are evil. Please this is supposed to be a civilized discussion not why Christianity is the only way and bla blaI like you undertand that religion is away of life and away sure way to hereafter. Any religion that negate a peaceful way of life and regards not human life (I mean that teaches killing of Human being(s) for whatsoever reason) is not a true religion. I have studied a lot about the so called traditional religion (Special emphasis on Ifa) and also basics of other religion( e.g Islam,Hare Krisna e.t.c), then I have to stick to Christianity because it is a sure way of life. ![]() |

In the Old Testament, it was recorded that God spoke through a donkey. God also spoke through others who were not prophets? In fact, Abraham was not a Jehovah worshipper when God first spoke to him.I THINK THERE IS SOMETHING YOU MUST UNDERSTAND HERE FIRST. God made Donkey to speak not that He spoke through the donkey. Please read the Story of Ballam very well. There is a clear difference between God speaking through and God making to speak. God can make anything to speak but He only speak through His chosen. On the example of Abraham, God called him out of his father land. |
