These proofs of the existence of God take the form of philosophical arguments:

1. The argument of the unmoved mover (ex motu).
* Some things are moved.
* Everything that is moved is moved by a mover.
* An infinite regress of movers is impossible.
* Therefore, there is an unmoved mover from whom all motion proceeds.
* This mover is what we call God.

2. The argument of the first cause (ex causa).
* Some things are caused.
* Everything that is caused is caused by something else.
* An infinite regress of causation is impossible.
* Therefore, there must be an uncaused cause of all caused things.
* This causer is what we call God.

3. The argument of contingency (ex contingentia).
* Many things in the universe may either exist or not exist. Such things are called contingent beings.
* It is impossible for everything in the universe to be contingent, as something can't come of nothing, and if traced back eventually there must have been one thing from which all others have occurred.
* Therefore, there must be a necessary being whose existence is not contingent on any other being(s).
* This being is what we call God.

4. The argument of degree (ex gradu).
* Various perfections may be found in varying degrees throughout the universe.
* These degrees of perfections assume the existence of the perfections themselves.
* The pinnacle of perfection, from which lesser degrees of perfection derive, is what we call God.

5. The argument of "design" (ex fine).
* All natural bodies in the world act for ends.
* These objects are in themselves unintelligent.
* To act for ends is characteristic of intelligence.
* Therefore, there exists an intelligent being which guides all natural bodies to their ends.
* This being we call God.

have always wondered why it is so easy for us Africans to embrace Christianity. We aren't the only colonized people, the Asians have managed to hold on to their religions and languages( which makes up most of our identity) and some how Nigerians have only disdain for the old ways. I met a man recently and when he said he wasn't Christian but follows the old ways (ancestors et al) my first reaction was wary. Now i wonder why.Right now i'm in Brazil for the carnival and couldn't be more impressed. if the slaves with all they went through, found ways to hide their worship till this day, what does it say of us? Our movies haven't helped matters as all traditionalists are evil. Please this is supposed to be a civilized discussion not why Christianity is the only way and bla bla

In the Old Testament, it was recorded that God spoke through a donkey. God also spoke through others who were not prophets? In fact, Abraham was not a Jehovah worshipper when God first spoke to him.

I admire this effort. Although I'm not presently located in Naija for the prizes, I'll give it a go.

What if the Scientist explanation of the beginning of the world was true 'the BIG BANG'. That would mean that there is no God and churches are not real, and the Bible and Quaran are fake! It would mean that there is no Hell or Heaven, no soul! How would human beings behave?

did God appear from nothing. or did something create God. answers please.

Hey guys

A friend of mine told me today that her family attends a church called "Brotherhood of the cross and star".

When I was back home, I heard people mention that name and all them Cele Churches and I don't attend such churches neither do I like them.

I'm a bit scared of her now. . .don't laugh
