If you deny South East the Senate President, don’t deny us the Speaker of the House. - Coalition of South Eastern Young Leaders Association ( CSYLA) The Coalition of South Eastern Young Leaders Association ( CSYLA) under the leadership of Ogwo, Okechukwu Kalu Ph.D have appealed to the Leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to consider the Southeastern Region while zoning the various positions of Leadership in the National Assembly stating that if the Southeast will not be getting the slot for Senate President then they should be considered strongly for the Speaker of the House while nomination the Spokesperson of the House, Rep. Benjamin Kalu. The Association after her meeting on Wednesday 8th of March, 2023, in Abuja , resolved as follows; 1. That the Leadership of the House of Representatives will be better under Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the current Spokesperson of the House of Representatives. 2. That we are confident that he will build on the landmark achievements of Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila and Rep. Wase, who brought great innovations on better ways of getting things done in the legislature. 3. That as the Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Rep. Benjamin Kalu has demonstrated credibility, capacity, commitment, dedication and high sense of responsibility in discharging his duties of managing the image of the House of Representatives. He balanced the narratives and showed the legislature in a good light before Nigerians. 4. That having heard there are plans to shift the president of the senate position to other regions because of lower number of votes from the region, the South East should not be left empty handed. 5. That to give the South-easterners the sense of belonging, stimulating a better national unity, the Speakership slot of House of Representatives should be zoned to the South East. 6. That we have a candidate in Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the current Spokesperson of the House of Representatives whom we are confident will exceed expectations with his performance. 7. That this “cat with nine lives “ survived all that was thrown at him to stop him from standing boldly for APC in the South East, with no state Governor to shield him during campaigns and elections since Abia State is under PDP, no god father to project or protect his ambition as many of them divided APC to chose labour and other political parties instead of APC, yet he fought like a wounded lion for APC and won the battle as the only surviving APC house of representative member in the entire Abia state, the other two in the South East had the covering of their state Governors who were APC Governors but Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu fought alone and won for APC despite the LP wave in the south east which retired many great politicians. 8. That we are all aware of how his unbiased critical analysis from an interview he granted to ABN TV (which went viral) on some contending issues in respect of the Presidential election and its candidates, his unwavering support to the All Progressive Congress (APC) and her Presidential candidate, the President-elect, HE Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu attracted attacks to his life (assassins were sent after him), his political family suffered attacks from different quarters. His Constituency and campaign office was attacked by armed men, over 100 bullets were wasted and properties worth millions of Naira destroyed in an attempt to silence him and his support for the President- elect . He insisted and took the bullets for him and APC. 9. That most leaders of the South east except the Governors were indifferent to speaking up on their stand publicly for fear of attack, he was one of the courageous lone voices that did not sit on the fence but boldly declared his support for the President- Elect on all media platforms including his weekly radio program with five radio stations in the East. 10. That he was bold and courageous about his choice and he has been proven right, therefore, he should speak for the entire country now, not as the spokesperson, but as the Speaker of the hallowed chamber of the House of Representatives. 11. That as a well rounded, critical thinking, well educated spokesperson who knew and spoke on all issues knowledgeably will manage the House creditably. He made the 9th Assembly look good and reduced the opaqueness surrounding the workings of the legislature. 12. That the All Progressive Congress (APC) should as a matter of responsibility, all inclusiveness, reward for loyalty to the party and determination to balance power for national cohesion and prosperity, zone the position of the House of Representatives' Speaker to the South East. 13. That Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu is a young leader who is well loved in the South East especially the youths and granting this opportunity to the competent hand of this South Easterner will calm various nerves in the region for in him lies the union of competence, credibility, courage capacity, integrity and loyalty. 14. That he is one of the hopes of leadership from the south eastern block of the country and he is a celebrated non tribalistic nationalist with friends across the lengths and breadth of Nigeria . A man who occasionally spends his birthdays in the IDP camps in Northern Nigeria, a man whose employees cuts across all regions in Nigeria both at home and in the office, is the type of leadership the nation needs currently. 15. That members of the 9th assembly who nick named him “the ORACLE “can attest to these and has largely decided to support our call for him to be the next Speaker of the 10th Assembly. 16. That we need Benjamin Okezie Kalu as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly of the House of Representatives.

He mentioned that the CIDB seeks to establish the right legal and institutional framework for the growth of the creative industries. At the consultative review meeting of the Bill which took place at The Wells Carlton Hotels, Abuja. The Minister of Information, Alh. Lai Mohammed who was represented by the Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Segun Runsewe emphasized that the bill will bridge the gap between the creative sector and the government. According to the Minister, the Bill will also address challenges faced by the creative industry. He said the Creative Industries Development Bill is in response to clamour by key players in the sector for the creation of a legal framework to take the industry to greater heights. While opening the session, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari and CIDB Lead, Col. Felix Orevoghene Alaita, said the major aim of the Bill is to provide support and promote Nigeria's creative sector. Excitement As UNAU Diamond Pageant Presents Winners Of SDGs Showcase 2022 Plots Of Land As Prizes Queen Evelyn Chukwujekwu, a brand ambassador, social entrepreneur, and humanitarian was crowned Mrs. Nigeria III at the 3rd edition of the Mrs. Nigeria Beauty Pageant, held at the prestigious Oriental Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos, on 16th May, 2021. Thus, Queen Evelyn Chukwujekwu represented Nigeria at the world stage of the 10th edition of United Nations Pageant; and was crowned Mrs. Africa United Nations at the glamourous event that held at the Pride Plaza Hotel, Aerocity, New Delhi, India on the 7th May, 2022. As Mrs. Nigeria III, Queen Evelyn have been passionately instrumental in transforming the lives of over 1200 girls and underprivileged single mothers within Nigeria, by making some quiet giant strides in the advancement of the cause of the youth, women folks and girl child. So far, she have been able to support IDP camps, school dropout girls, given scholarships to 150 indigent girls; supported over 100 autistic children, 3 orphanages, 4 rural communities, 5 schools and have reached out to over 1,000 children who have been impacted with her humanitarian activities. As Mrs. Africa United Nations, Queen Evelyn is deeply pained with the rate of hunger, agony, poverty and chaos ravaging Africa. More so, Queen Evelyn is shocked to discover that Nigeria is ranked 139/163 on the 2022 world’s SDGs index, this fueled her quest to liberate Africa through her office as Mrs. Africa United Nations from the clutches of hunger, poverty and under-development, by establishing the SDGs Family & Business Showcase, a value-driven joint humanitarian initiative with UNAU Diamonds Pageant, that combines a unique blend of SDGs, Pageantry, Entertainment and Charity as an effective tool for promoting and domesticating the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to achieve our target for 10,000 Youths, Women and Girls as beneficiaries over a 8-year period of 2022 to 2030. Taking into consideration of the fact that SDGs Family and Business Showcase, is a family pageant, targeted at Human Development and Capacity Building, has no overall winner as everyone is a winner in the spirit of supporting Nigeria in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, in consonance with the global SDGs slogan which is “Leaving No One Behind” as everyone including government, CSO, NGO, public/private sector, the business community and individuals are all expected and required to join hands together and ensure that the SDGs Agenda 2030 is achieved and make Nigeria a better nation. The SDGs SHOWCASE 2022 was a huge success as the event had lots of great personalities in attendance. The event enlightened Nigerians on the importance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the need for it to be embraced by all and sundry and ultimately domesticates it in all families and homes. The SDGs Showcase 2022 saw to the crowning of 11 Queens and 1 king, out of which they have I head Queen for each category and 1 king namely: * Kineta Walker as Little Miss SDGs Showcase World * Idris Safiya Sekpe as Miss Teen SDGs Showcase World * Yusuf Halimat Onize as Miss SDGs Showcase World * Fakeye Eunice Modupeola as Mrs. SDGs Showcase World * Egwu Godwin Itatu as Mr. SDGs Showcase World. Nobody contested under the Ms Category meant for single mothers, divorcée, widows, with or without children who are passionate and humanitarian in nature to champion the cause of women, peace and security, age 20 to 45 years; The head Queens and King were presented with one (1) plot of land each making five (5) plots of land. They have received their land title documents with signed contract and have also been taken to the location to see the land. This brought about so much excitement in the Pageant Industry because UNAU Diamonds Pageant is a talk and do brand. They also got consolation prizes from some sponsors like Airtel, Merika foods, Okay Energy Drink and key partnership from Bolingo Xperia Hotel, New Crystal Communications, T-1 Zone, Chikason and Capital Edge. Consequently, the convener of SDGs Showcase 2022, Queen Evelyn noted that, they will be unveiling other projects soon with the sole aim of domesticating the United Nations SDGs; uphold our family values; promote our cultural heritage, peace and security; recognize and appreciate corporate brands who are achieving the SDGs through their CSR projects; launch the One Goal - One Family initiative, provide mentorship, empowering people together for a new world and ensure Nigeria achieves the SDGs goals by the year 2030. One of the contestants, Victoria Ojonogecha Ayegba who was initially crowned as Miss SDGs Showcase 2022 has been dethroned for obtaining the crown under false pretense and deceit, because she contested under the Miss Category meant for young, single and brilliant girls 20 to 40 years old, never married, no children, career oriented and loves to represent corporate Brands by advocating gender-based issues. The brand later found out that Victoria Ojonogecha Ayegba is married and should have contested under either under Mrs for married women or under Ms for single mothers, divorcée, widows, and certainly not under the Miss Category, thereby going against our rules of engagement with the terms and conditions therein, this invalidates her victory, nullified her crown and title. The brand wishes her all the best in her future endeavors. Yusuf Halimat Onize being the first runner up is now the crowned Miss SDGs Showcase World. Congratulations to all the Queens and Kings and stay tuned with sdgshowcase.

Yesterday, the 19th of December, 2022, the wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Mrs Nonye Soludo hosted motherless children in the Governor's Lodge in Amawbia, Anambra State. This is a yearly event for the current Anambra State First Family, through which their love for the less privileged in the society is being expressed. The Governor's wife, in an amazing humility and exceptional candour, has been an epitome of empathy and compassion. In her remarks, she said; "we do this to give them a sense of belonging, and I will continue to do this here in order to make them know that the Governor's Lodge is not only for the high and mighty, but also for the lowly in the society". "In fact, to the less privileged, this is a home outside their home". The wife of the Governor was seen dancing with the children, their caregivers, and staff who brought them to the Lodge, attending to the kids like she would to the offsprings of her own womb. It was indeed, beautifully astounding. There were moments of talent shows from the kids, as they engaged in dancing competition, sit-dance competition, balloon play, and other games that threw the hall into boisterous jubilations. The first family shared their food and drinks with them, and packed each and every child with Christmas gifts of all kinds. The first lady took time to go through a one on one interaction with the kids to ascertain their uninfluenced and unbiased feelings about their stay in their care home, and commended the caregivers as she took notice of the wellness of the children under their care. Lady Edna Obiakor who took inspiration from Proverbs 19:17, which says; "Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed", described Her Excellency as exemplary, and as a role model for every woman in the State, both married and single. She termed the event, beautiful and refreshing. She further advised the privileged in the society to continue to take leaves from the books of the first family to strive towards egalitarianism and to remember always, that they are only but caretakers to their wealth, as it is meant for services to God and humanity. The Soludos' were largely present, as Chinöó, Zikora, and Odukó were seated with their mother, enjoying the moments and observing their mum, while Adaora and the elderly ones were seen helping their mother in the activities. It was indeed, marvelous. To Asiegbunam Precious, the woman incharge of the motherless children, the Governor's wife will be like tomorrow that never gets old, her blessing like tomorrow that never gets exhausted. She was obviously in awe of the First Lady who to her, is the embodiment of the ideal motherliness. Her joy is indescribable. To Chimamanda, one of the winners of the dance competition, " we love our Governor's wife" To Emeka another winner in one of the games, "we are doing Christmas here". Such was the excitement in them. As the event came to a close, the First Lady bade them farewells and wished them a merry Christmas in advance. ~Obinna Joseph Nwankwo is a Senior Special Assistant- SSA to Anambra State Governor on Media.
