Mercedes Benz 300SEL-6.8 (The Red Pig).

This car started as a 300SEL, with the engine replaced by the M100 6.3L V8 engine. AMG produced special versions of the 6.3 to compete in racing events, usually with the engine enlarged to 6.8 liters or more. The car had an impressive, but short-lived racing career, due to the lack of suitable tires, or rule changes preventing the use of them.

AMG's so-called "Red pig" finished 2nd in the 24 Hours of Spa in 1971. This heavy vehicle with 6834 cc and 420 hp (313 kW) was fast, but frequent refuelling was necessary, and tire wear was also high. The car was sold to French company Matra, they used it for tests of jet fighter landing gear. Five were made, three racers and two test cars. Last original works-built Waxenberger 69 "red pig" is in Mobilia Automotive Museum, Finland.

To celebrate AMG's 50th anniversary, here is a brief history of their humble beginnings.

AMG was founded as a racing engine forge in 1967 under the name AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (AMG Engine Production and Development, Ltd.), by former Mercedes-Benz engineers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in Burgstall an der Murr, near Stuttgart. The letters "AMG" stand for Aufrecht, Melcher and Großaspach (Aufrecht's birth town). In 1976 most of AMG moved to Affalterbach, with the racing-engine development remaining at the old location in Burgstall. At this time Erhard Melcher ceased to be a partner, but continued to be an employee at the Burgstall location.

In 1993, with AMG having become a high-profile purveyor of modified Mercedes-Benz cars, Daimler-Benz AG and AMG signed a contract of cooperation, allowing AMG to leverage Daimler-Benz's extensive dealer network and leading to commonly developed vehicles (the first one being the Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG, in 1993)...

1. Not everyone has time to visit your workshop.
2. You're trying to lure people into CNG in these harsh financial times.
3. I don't know anyone who wants to sell to the public & hides their prices.

Great innovation there with proper sensitization a lot people will buy the idea.I know those red ,sahara energy official cars run on CNG.
I also remember entering a danfo bus from ketu to Mowe that ran on CNG and even did a refill along the expressway indeed I was impressed.

No, the conversion does not de-rate an engine. Full power is maintained by providing the necessary energy to the engine as needed.

Yes, you lose some power as CNG has a lower heat of combustion per litre than petrol.

Plug and play but not easy. Requires indepth understanding of the Mercedes M104 wire chart.

For example, the car has three moudles and an electronic throttle body actuator.

I have done some other swaps notably on a BMW E30 where i deleted the factory M20 and replaced with a M50 single vanos..

A budget of at least 200k for this engine swap alone and that does not include labour.

The M104 is the best and last inline 6 ever made by Mercedes.

Let me educate you on this and l will give you a layman example.Let assume that you and l are travelling from Lagos to Ibadan on different cars, your car used 10liters of PMS and mine used 20liters . This means your car is energy efficient compare to mine .Another example is somebody that is using 200watts bulb and another person with 28watts bulb.Both of them will achieve the same objective which is light, but 28watts bulb is energy efficient. Energy conservation is about avoiding waste of energy, for instance, if you are not using light especially in the morning, switch it off.Both concept talks about reduction in the use of energy and they are one of sustainable development goals. It was made between 1968-1976, but it was still very popular in Nigeria up till the late 1980s (the limousine version was popular into the 1990s). Nigerians regarded it as a "very strong car".

It was succeeded by the W123 Mercedes Benz (known as the "Regular Mercedes" or "U Boot" in Nigeria).

This car is one of the predecessors of the E-Class (its bigger brother, the S Class, was the W108 Mercedes Benz).

I'm almost sure the Camry outsells all Kia by at at least 2 to 1. There is a reason why Camry has become a household name. No doubt, Kia offers more... like more cup holders, compartments to put stuff, etc. After 3 years... Kia looks like a 10 yr old Camry....I see them all the time. ...so my opinion is on observation....as you can see...1997 Pencil....original paint... still in fair condition... let me get a calculator to find out how many years on the road! Kia need to attract Hyundai customers first..... then Toyota... then they can dream about Benz. Red car....familiar shape?
