The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Saturday confirmed the shooting of two of its officers on duty in Abia. An eyewitness had earlier told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the officers were shot by security aides to a top government official in the state. The Public Education Officer of the Corps, Mr Bisi Kazeem, who confirmed the shooting to NAN, was silent on the identity of those responsible. Kazeem said the matter had been reported to the police for investigation, while the victims were receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital. “It is true that our officers were shot this afternoon. The matter has been reported to the police and we are awaiting the outcome of their investigation. “The wounded officers have been hospitalised, and they are in stable condition. “This will not deter our men from carrying out their duties, but would rather embolden them to make our roads safer for Nigerians,” he said. NAN learnt that the incident occurred at Umuikea Junction in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area. According to the eyewitness, an FRSC patrol team had flagged down the vehicle conveying the government official’s wife for seatbelt violation. “The lady was in her vehicle with two other females and none of them was wearing their seatbelts. “As the road safety officers were talking to them about it, they flared up and started assaulting the officers. “The big man’s wife called her husband’s security aides, who rushed to the scene and started shooting sporadically. “In the process, one of the FRSC officers was hit in the arm, and the other in neck and waists,” the eyewitness said.(NAN) Source; https://www.nationalhelm.co/2017/07/wife-top-govt-official-orders-security-shoot-frsc-officials-abia-photos.html

Wayne Rooney was hugged by a pitch-invading Manchester United fan during his second debut for Everton in Tanzania ....The Tanzanian fan clearly didn't want to accept that the 31-year-old was no longer a Manchester United player during a pre-season friendly match today. The supporter, who was wearing a Red Devils kit, ran onto the pitch during the game and gave him a warm hug before he was taken away by security agents. The England international opted to leave Old Trafford for his boyhood side after being frozen out of the first team picture by Jose Mourinho last season Rooney gave Toffees fans a glimpse of what he's still capable of during the match by rifling in a wonder goal from 30 yards. Everton went on to win the match against Gor Mahia 2-1. Source; https://www.nationalhelm.co/2017/07/tanzanian-football-fan-hugs-wayne-rooney.html

A Nigerian security operative identified as Usman Chindo has revealed the "specially-made" guns that were recovered from armed robbers killed along Kano - Zaria expressway. According to him, one of the guns - a revolver which is meant to carry 6-8 bullets (maximum) - was locally constructed to load 15 bullets which is quite alarming. Read what he shared below; I was at the State CID Kano today when officials of Federal SARS brought two corpse of armed robbers killed along Kano - Zaria expressway. The Rifle by the left looks like a locally made AK-47, but these guys fabricated it to use 9mm instead of the conventional 7.62mm. The Revolver Pistol by the right is using 7.62mm instead of the conventional 9mm all revolvers are supposed to use, and one ingenuity about the fabricator of this weapon is that, the maximum a revolver can carry is 6-8 ammo. This locally fabricated Revolver is a 15 loader!!! Can you beat this 15 Loader!!!!!!
