What would you say about African names that have silent consonants like "N, G or M. Or those that have four or more syllables? We Africans should stop feeling superior to African-Americans, because we are not. Also when it comes to discrimination, there is no differentiation between African and African-American, we are all black people. The African-American, especially the educated ones, have a slight advantage because they don't have heavy accents like most Africans. |

highchief3: Most ladies are looking for a ready made husband, they dump the nice young man that is still struggling because they see marriage as a way out of poverty for themselves and their families. They keep many men as options no true feelings at all. When their biological clock starts running the same family that encouraged her to try other men and not to marry the struggling guy will start putting pressure on her.
Ladies say yes to that nice young man that will cherish you and build your lifes together. Not true at all. So many cases of women sticking by their men only for the men to dump them when they start making money. |

I just quoted you Eketem to say that I agree 100% with everything you have posted. If more Nigerians reasoned like you the country will definitely be a better place. Heck I will extend that to the whole of Africa. There is a reason why there is a justice system in every country. Counter-aggression is not the solution to resolving conflicts. Also there needs to be more communication between couples regarding in-laws, because most times it is the woman who bears the burden of catering to the demands of family members who visit the couple. |

spicyuzo: It is heart-wrenching to know that the first thing that comes to the mind of someone who finds himself/herself close to an accident scene, or a mishap of any form is to start taking pictures and making videos.
May the souls of those who lost their lives rest in the bosom of the lord, and may God grant the families the fortitude to bear the loss. Amen
We are humans, we are sensitive to the plight of fellow humans, we are different, We are Nigerians. God save Nigeria! One of the best write ups I have ever read on this forum. I think Seun and his mods could do something about it by not posting topics that show accident or murder victims. Everyday on this forum there are at least three topics on the front page that include graphic pictures. I never click on those topics because I believe that even in death people should be shown respect. We as a people have become so desensitized to the pain and suffering of others that we do not think about how the relatives of victims feel seeing the final moments, or corpses of their loved ones splashed across the internet. |

DonPiiko: There is no rule of law here, we live in a Banana Republic and things could yet get worse, people get laid off at work for dissenting opinion, talk more of private sector employees, my initial suggestion was to avoid fracas with the employer. It's a shame the way employees are exploited |
Career › Re: How To Get Sacked From Your Workplace? by Daisy17: 8:53pm On Jun 12, 2018*. Modified: 12:26am On Jun 13, 2018 |
DonPiiko: We usually calculate wages here on monthly basis it is no work no pay rule, so it's rounded off to the next month, most contracts for public sector staff here say 1month salary in lieu of writing. Even if it's on a monthly salary, you would still get your full month's pay as long as you worked the full month. Even if you quit in the middle of the month, your salary will be pro-rated. Labour laws are very stringent and there's no way an employer will exploit an employee, especially if the job is legal. |
Career › Re: How To Get Sacked From Your Workplace? by Daisy17: 8:47pm On Jun 12, 2018 |
sammirano: That's why employers will keep treating employees like trash in Nig. The documents you signed are legal and binding, in a saner clime you dare not try such if you don't want to forfeit both jobs and still pay for damages. In saner climes, you get paid for every hour you worked, even if you don't give the required notice. The only thing the company will do is blacklist you. The only time you may refund money to a company is if they pay you a signing on bonus and you don't stay with them for the stipulated amount of years. Or if they pay your tuition costs or professional membership fees. There's no way they would ask you to refund your last month's salary just because you didn't give them enough notice. |

babadee1: You are not a honourable person if you were employed under those conditions and you're already busy looking for another job. Leave that talk. Are companies loyal to their employees? When an employer is seeking to replace you, will they inform you? |
Career › Re: How To Get Sacked From Your Workplace? by Daisy17: 8:38pm On Jun 12, 2018 |
Cutehector: Ok let's say I want to resign from a job and I give my employer a month's notice prior to the date I am leaving, am I entitled to my salary for that last month? You should be entitled to your full salary for the last month as long as you work those hours. All this business of refunding last month's salary is just companies exploiting their employees. I can't believe no one in the government has thought it necessary to pass legislation to stop this exploitative action by employers. |
Career › Re: How To Get Sacked From Your Workplace? by Daisy17: 8:33pm On Jun 12, 2018 |
DonPiiko: That 45 days notice is too long, I know of 30days you should tender a resignation letter immediately and be prepared to refund the unmerited salary. That's exploitation. You should be entitled to your full pay as long as you worked those hours. A few years ago, I started a second job in order to make extra cash. I quit after a couple of days because I hated the job and it was not my main occupation. I still got paid for the hours I worked. In developed countries, you are not required to return your salary earned, even if you don't give them enough notice and you can sue if the company withholds your pay. |

King44: sis lemme tell you a secret only lazy/liability men ask a women for money directly except if they are married that case is different, and it's so rare for guys to ask girls for money, when hard working / real men ask for money they do it with body language and when finally you are willing to give they resist and finally accepts when their hopes of raising the money themselves hit the rock plus they pay back in double either money wise, loyalty wise etc Not true. I know so many cases where ladies have helped their partners who later on dumped them when the going was good. It is only on Nairaland you see men call ladies "leeches". There are so many women out there supporting their men but due to the fact that they don't want to hurt the pride of their partners, they keep it a secret. Like they say, the four walls of a house cover a lot of things. |

lovelyeyez: Thanks for your comment. And yes, I would admit things have been very rough between us because I was not happy with the fact that she played me... Or I couldn't resist her.. But now, she's asking me to come have sex with her to ease her delivery based on doctors prescription. That's what I don't know to what to do From what I gathered from your initial post, she's five months gone, so delivery isn't any time soon. My advice is to make sure that you help pay for her ante-natal visits. Do NOT sleep with her since you have no interest in continuing the relationship. She's pregnant and her emotions are all over the place. Don't worsen the situation by sleeping with her and giving her false hopes of you guys being a family. It seems you are dependent on your family, so they need to do their part financially, and also the girl's parents. |

peacettw: So many kids on this thread. @op...you aren't alone in this. It is perfectly normal not to want sex when he wants it and vice versa. My only worry is the accusations that you are cheating on him. From my experience, once someone thinks that, then it's probably cos he is cheating as well. Finally, someone who thinks like me. From experience, when a spouse accuses their partner of cheating, especially when it is unlikely, it is usually because they are the ones cheating. They are trying to absolve themselves of any guilt. @op, try to have a heart to heart discussion with your husband. Talk to him about the stress you are going through and how's it's affecting your sexual appetite. So many couples go through dry spells, it is how they weather these storms that make or mar the relationship. If he refuses to listen, just pray to God for guidance. Also I hope you go for yearly physicals, so that you know your physical, mental and sexual health. |

Lilisticlili: you make your money but lacked an insight to upgrade this forum to a proper standard all because you want 10MB browsers to keep posting sheets here and your mods too be moving irrelevant post to fp. And finally why do the muslims have a dedicated section? Are you a bigot? And why don't you ban sexual contents here and instigate strong correctional punishment for tribalism and religion sentiments.
Seun you are guilty of this, what do you say? You do realize that this is a free world and you do not have to browse the pages of Nairaland. There are so many websites out there. Also how do you know there is sexual content on this website, if you did not go looking for it? I am sure you know the meaning of sexuality. You did not have to click on the link. We are all adults here and I do not see why you will want to dictate what other people are allowed to browse. |
