MGS may be many things, but one thing it definitely *isnt* is for a matured mind.

the story is told in a gritty setting but with gross oversimplification of issues that characterises novellas for young adults, like tom clancy's op center or shonen jump mangas like ghost in the shell.

the story is directed at growing boys, 14-17 year olds.

If you want a story told in a matured tone, try the tom clancy games, like splinter cell. Unfortunately the stories are quite boring, almost like watching CNN, but thats what u get when u ask for 'matured'

*if* I will ever like mgs it will have to be the gameplay that gets me, because the story definitely isn't there for me.

MGS1 was really interesting gameplay-wise, but portable ops has *so* many gameplay problems that i wonder if the high scores are not just kojima-worship.
Gaming / Re: Game Console: Ps3 Or Xbox 360 Elite by dakmanzero(m): 11:19am On Sep 01, 2007
started playing it last night. Its pretty cool! graphics are nice if a bit dark and murky. The story was weird- they didnt explain how the guy got the darkness, he just got it.

It has some novel ideas, and the mob/mafia angle is hilarious *and* action filled! dual wielding pistols doesn't get old!

shooting out lights to create shadows is an interesting angle.

n95 would be my dream phone if not for lack of proper input ie keyboard/touchscreen.

a numpad alone for input? its nothing but a small step up from my n72, then.
Gaming / Re: Game Console: Ps3 Or Xbox 360 Elite by dakmanzero(m): 5:44pm On Aug 31, 2007
Not many, but then, I dont have that many and I am 100% content:

360:

bought doa4 when i got it, then gears of war 4 months later. Ive had it for a year with those games alone and its been more than worth it! I just bought the darkness as my third game a year after purchase.

PS3:

resistance came with the system, and the only game i bought was ninja gaiden sigma. I have no desire to buy anything else 4 the forseeable future

As gamers, we 'try' most games and only finish a few. Theres no need to buy piles and piles of games, but pira has spoilt us. The truth is, even with my mountains upon mountains of ps2 games, i could count the number i actually finished on one hand. I gladly dashed the ps2 and alll my 1,000,000 pirated game to my brother with NO REMORSE

finally, wii games are horribly expensive. And if nintendos trackrecord is anythong to go by, u wont be seeing pira anytime soon.

dude.

ya strawman argument holds as much water as a basket made out of aforementioned straw

Claiming i know next to nothing about my own culture (HAH!!!!! YEAH RIGHT!!!!) is avoiding the issue.

I say give me a real argument as to what makes these ancient languages relevant.

If the only arguments you can give are sentimental ones you only strengthen my point.

Tell me one advantage the language confers on a person besides enabling them function within whatever tribal clique happens to exist close by at the moment.

we should choose an indigenous language and relegate all other insignificant tribal dialects to the dustbin of history. There's no such language as 'Nigerian'. How shameful.

if u want to game on linux, support games that compile native linux versions, like epic games (UT, etc) and id games like doom3.

dont bother with winex, etc. keep a windows partition for those games.

kiyosaki's rich dad says

an asset puts money in my pocket

a liability takes money from my pocket

aquire assets and lose liabilities.

a girl that takes and takes money is a liability regardless of the amount of sex she gives in return

a girl that encourages healthy behaviour (ie no more clubbing, wasting money on women / alcohol due to idleness and boredom) by making u have responsibility and focus is an asset cos ull save fuel, money and time- and ull be motivated to improve urself so u can better take care of her

my mission is to lose as many liabilities as i can this year

That means all the big ikebe wielding cash madams have to GOOOOOOOOOOOOO

no finance no romance sounds like a liability speaking grin

Culture / Re: Yorubas In Nigeria That Can't Speak Yoruba by dakmanzero(m): 9:23am On Aug 30, 2007
no-one calls yoruba uncivilized

it is merely irrelevant in the greater scheme of things, globally speaking.

most traditional languages exist as a way of preserving age-old traditions and cultures that define a people.

languages such as arabic and chinese are treasure troves to a wealth of centuries of rich culture.

however the total amount of written tradition held by yoruba is nil. All our traditions are oral. Written yoruba is a modern day contrivance. Oral traditions by definition will die if kept in an old, unwritten language.

Now, if you hold the opinion that oral tradition is somehow relevant, the solution is (was) to invent a writing system for yoruba and commence with the transcription. However in practice all that brought about was a wholesale rewriting of history by whoever was doing the documentation. In my opinion, ORAL TRADITION is a load of rubbish, since it is subject to the whims of whoever happens to be translating it at the time. The language in which it is documented thus becomes IRRELEVANT, as issues of translation have become inconsequential to the point of absurdity, why quibble about the meaning of a word when it was pulled out of the arse of whatever old man happened to be talkking to you at the moment?

so you can document oral traditions in any language at all. why then bother using the original language which has no prior use (since THIS is the use it should have).

Feeling pride in your culture is nice when you actually have a culture to be proud of. Like it or not, what most yorubas call their 'culture' nowadays is just a hodgepodge of influences from all around the region AND western culture, christianity and islam. There's nothing ancient or sacred about it since it changes with the wind. Feeling pride in your glass house wont stop it from being completely and utterly useless.

Nigerians should adopt an indigenous language and scrap all the others. All they do is foster tribalism as people form 'language cults' t the exclusion of non-speakers. If that language is english then so be it. If it is yoruba, thank GOD i dont have to learn some other language. If it is Igbo, all well and good. If it is Hausa at least we get the benefit of being able to converse with practically the entirety of northern Africa. Any language, but get rid of the stupid multiplicity of useless unwritten languages

gamine *is* a girl, and she *did* draw that stuff herself.

I have personally set eyes on her pen-and-paper work and believe me, it looks even better than the scanned versions u see here.

And no, she's NOT fat, she's NOT pimply, she does NOT wear goggles and she is definitely not a nerd

there are multiple slims o. he hard small

the latest slimline ps2s are absolutely tiny and beautiful! However the few i have seen needed to be turned upside down before they read video dvds perfectly. weird

apparently they are even more rugged than the old machine, but are *much* more difficult to chip, so somethines the alaba boys skrew up the insides when chipping and u have all manner of lens wahala's

so, test before u buy. And buy pre-chipped. If u know someone going to malaysia or dubai ask em to get u one, u get perfectly pre-chipped specimens from there.

or just buy origio, and play only origio games for maximum reliability. These days there are like 2 top games for ps2 anyway so buying a heap of pira is a waste

lesson no.1: a public forum is NOT the place to go for rational discourse on ANYTHING.

However it is a great place to sample opinion.

I disagree with tanna and olanajim but strangely enough I find myself siding with them against the crowd that just feels they should shut up and not speak at all.

Thats like trying to solve your problem by burying your head in the sand. I'd love to debate the issue of children with them, for example ask tanna whether she would be comfortable with the suffering her children would endure for the sake of her husband's happiness, but its hard for me to do so when everyone else on my side is just attacking them and judging them without hearing them out

@TOH: This is NOT directed at you. You've chilled out, which is cool, but then others just jumped in from nowhere and the whole thing flared up again. Thats pretty frustrating for me. I was hoping for some interesting discussions. You hardly ever see a person defending polygamy that isnt some crazed religious nut or barely literate 'traditionalist'. Also please resist the urge to hit back at Tanna for calling you a child. Ignoring such comments is the easiest way to squash them.

finish reading my post before u brand me a supporter of one of the most disgusting acts known to man. Yes, i think male circumcision is also disgusting, all u religious nuts can sue me for that, but its the same

however as per satisfaction of clitless females, there are such things as vaginal orgasms and the grafenberg spot that any 15-year old is already a biology PhD sans experience. More work, but possible! clit = ski with concentrated nerve endings. Many more of those in the jade gate grin

so mgs is all about the story.

portable ops had a boring hackneyed cheesy story told with still images. maybe thats y its crap

ill try to get ps1 mgs1 and see how far.

thanks!

i gave my ps2 to my younger bro, no time to play these days. too much work! also i have a ps3 (tha i still havent even played yet)
Romance / Re: Guys, Can You Marry A Circumcised Lady? by dakmanzero(m): 12:00am On Aug 29, 2007
yep.

Not her fault she cant feel it

besides, it takes a real man to satisfy a woman w no clit wink   REAL fellas know what im talking about cheesy

finally, like ive said before, marriage isnt for sex. its for  the childen. and a circumcised woman can still give birth. if i meet the mother of my kids, some random act of cruelty from HER ignorant parents shouldnt dissuade me.
Gaming / Re: What Game Are You Currently Playing? by dakmanzero(m): 8:47pm On Aug 28, 2007
ive been away from my consoles for a while, so at the moment Im not playing any 360 games in particular. Should start on the darkness later this week, looking forward to it! resistance and ninja gaiden sigma on ps3 as well. Last quarter 2007 looks good!

cos ive been moving around, ive been playing portable games:

psp:

ace combat x (current fave)
GTA: vice city stories (finally found out what the hhype is about)
ratchet and clank size matters: Beautiful game!
crush: a strangely addictive puzzle-platform game that may do to me what mercury meltdown did last month

ds:

new super mario bros: anyone who hasnt played this, should. you will remember why we all love video games so much
metroid prime hunters:i only stopped playing because the addiction was becoming unhealthy. This game is a MUST for quake/UT fans

computer:
street fighter 3 on emulator. Only game i can play when doing overnights at the office (been working 24hrs for almost a week now, )

ps2:
GOD OF WAR 2: playing it on my ps3 at the moment, but its listed under ps2 cos thats where i started playing it. This is one of the VERY BEST action games ever. However Ninja gaiden is set to usurp it in my book!
Gaming / Re: Best Mission Game Ever!: by dakmanzero(m): 8:32pm On Aug 28, 2007
what is a mission game?

pls explain so i know which games qualify.

and what is the hype about metal gear? I played the original on NES and it was dry. metal gear 2 on msx was also dry. MGS1 was excellent, I loved it! But didnt get far. MGS2 started amazing but got rubbish later. MGS3 - i havent played it. The intro was toooooo long when someone tried to show it to me. Game intros have a way of getting dry. Finally I own MGS portable ops on psp and to be honest it was a colossal waste of my time. I dedicated a week to it, determined to love it like all the websites giving it 90% scores and above, but eventually just gave up on it. When i was told that mgs3 was similar i just abandoned the whole thing. So back to my question:

what exactly is so great about metal gear?! If someone told me maybe i can finally justify my purchasing MGS portable ops. Ive tried so hard to love it and it just keeps getting worse every time i play. I also have syphon filter-dark mirror which is a million times better, but scores about the same (around 90%) and has the same setting (in fact the first syphon filter was a mgs clone)

so someone pls tell me what the noise is all about.
