Romance / Re: Nigerian Babes And Flowers by dakmanzero(m): 1:05pm On Nov 27, 2007
Advice to guys: If a woman rejects your expensive (nb NOT CHEAP. EXPENSIVE) flowers, then say sorry and later on treat her as a ho charging per round- price accordingly. for each grand she gets, u must use x condoms determined by her 'grade' and 'classification'. chikena!

To women:

If you take money from a man what differentiates you from a prostitute.

However women need to be shown that they are loved and appreciated, and so they need gifts for emotional reasons.

An expensive flower is a way of saying 'I love you enough to spend money on you, but I wont insult you by giving you money/gold like a cheap LovePeddler'

The flower cost just as much (or more) than the shiny phone you would have preferred- so you cant say the man is just a poor man giving excuses.

He is showing you that he considers you a class above the cheap slut/mistress of the street.

However as can be seen from the replies to the 'no finance no romance' thread, most naija women have degenerated to the level of cheap hoes anyway.
Gaming / Re: What Game Are You Currently Playing? by dakmanzero(m): 11:03am On Nov 15, 2007
I've been up to some serious gaming, finally playing the mound of stuff i accumulated during the year. In the few weeks since I updated last, Ive played:

Bioshock

Halo3 (finished on normal, halfway on legendary)

resistance (finished manchester cathedral, omo that one was too much!)

god of war 2 (just reached the island of the fates!)

manhunt 2 (given up. dry game.)

warioware (final stage, gave up. got boring.)

brainage (one of the best! doesnt end, )

fifa 2007 (shock! Yes I play football games! even tho its last years news, )

The warriors (on hold)

dark mirror (finished)

Heavenly sword (finished)

castlevania portrait of ruin

new super mario bros (world cool

Ol boy i dey tan ooooo. Anyway its the gaming season and I'm suffering from pre-christmas drought! Gaming is a cheap pastime compared to the alternatives, lololol!
Romance / Re: Nigerian Babes And Flowers by dakmanzero(m): 12:12pm On Nov 14, 2007
flowers = romance and the women love romance :-) even Nigerian ones.

however, basic needs like food and shelter are more important when absent.

when dating a hustler or someone who isnt loaded, you have to demonstrate your ability to feed, clothe and shelter before you start acting all romantic.

remember, they dont complain about your lack of romance until they have actually given u face beforehand.

in short thy appreciate flowers but they would prefer to recieve them on a full stomach!
Romance / Re: Why Are Girls Permitted To Slap Guys? by dakmanzero(m): 7:11pm On Oct 29, 2007
This topic makes no sense.

This isn't hollywood where women slap men left and right. This is NAIJA where wife-beating is upheld as a sign of masculinity and true manliness.

A woman who slaps a man is asking not just for an instant backhand reply thundercrack double speed jaw destroyer but for a beating the likes of which Bash Ali would have trouble withstanding even with his concrete skull.

Please, ladies, do not slap men in Naija for your own good. Trick them into travelling out with u and THEN slap them. Or arrange boys (works like a charm, )

lol.

We were just pulling Kemji's legs. He has the patience of a saint and we were trying to see if we could get him worked up by badmouthing his obviously pretty cool character. Of course he didn't take the bait!

He's different from most artists- he's good natured and doesnt take criticisms to heart!

Mrs. T:

On translations, Isn't Yoshi a common japanese name? I thought the turtles from the mario games were called koopas? And doesnt Mitsurigi mean honorable sword or something, There's at least one character called Mitsurugi in soul blade. Kenshin's sword style was 'hiten mitsurugi ryu or 'soaring heaven honorable sword school' wasn't it? And is there really a connection between mitsurugi and the way of repentance? Afterall, there are other hiten mitsurugi ryu practitioners that kill without qualms (seijiro hiko anyone), and I do understand that the ama kakeru ryu no hirameki was originally supposed to be unavailable to people with Kenshin's self-deprecating philosophy? , meh, too much anime,

Some mouse-drawing skillz are also neccesary, I think.
Nairaland / General / Re: Can A Condom Protect One From The Effect Of Magun? by dakmanzero(m): 2:38pm On Oct 22, 2007
Magun is, of course, a load of bullshit

However, bullshit has been known to keep the weak of mind in line.

If someone is dense enough to believe in Magun, he is surely daft enough to act like a complete fool with no inhibitions or impulse control whatsoever if finally convinced that there is no such thing as Magun.

Therefore, belief in magun is the lesser of the two evils. Magun is real, I say. Go Magun!

Finally.

My answer is:

NO!!!!

CONDOMS DO NOT PROTECT YOU FROM MAGUN!!!!

ABSTAIN AND GO TO CHURCH!!!!!! OR SACRIFICE TO ORUNMILA.

Computers / Re: Hibernate Or Turn Off? by dakmanzero(m): 4:00pm On Sep 26, 2007
You'll lose stability on resume because the interrupt timers and other stuff that doesnt explicitly depend on the state of RAM wont be properly handled.

ACPI compliance means that the hardware including clock syncing circuitry and interrupt timers can be put into a state which allows them to resume independently of elapsed time.

For reasons best known to MS, the HAL for ACPI is different for the one without ACPI (dont ask me why, I dont know), and SETUP doesnt tell you which one it is installing though there is a way to force ACPI HAL (search ms knowledge base for the method, it escapes my mind at the mo)

of course installing acpi hal on non-compliant hardware is asking for a BSOD. It typically doesnt happen tho.

NOW when ACPI is not installed, hibernation is turned off by default. YOU have a registry hack that is turning it back on (which I confess i am not aware of), despite the fact that the hardware is not put into a state that supports it. The end result is that your client probably has his machine lock up on him a lot more than it used to, without knowing why.

Ideally a laptop should automatically install an acpi hal, and therefore automatically enable hibernation. If it decides not to, then it had a reason, and you'll need an IT guy on site (who knows what the hell he's doing ) to find out WHY.

Rather than just forcing the option back on.

If you are into game making we should hook up

holler me on YIM via the nairaland link. Identify yourself by talking about the meaning of sprites (to differentiate u from the nairaland-camping yahoo boys)

Computers / Re: Hibernate Or Turn Off? by dakmanzero(m): 10:46am On Sep 26, 2007
@Ralvy

I hope you really understand what you are saying.

Enabling hibernate via registry hacks on a non acpi-enabled system is asking for trouble. It is disabled for a reason.
Computers / Re: Ubuntu Linux by dakmanzero(m): 10:42am On Sep 26, 2007
hmmm. I hear the word 'tutorial' and alarm bells go off.

Bigbrovar, I hope u know the true spirit of linux is:

'free as in speech, not as in beer'

in short, if you are giving tutorials, it had BETTER NOT BE FOR FREE, or you are being exploited.

collaborative help is one thing, tutorials are another. You will help the guy better if you give him ubuntu DVDs for free and point him to the same sources that turned you from a windows n00b to a linux elite in the space of a few months.

Giving people free tutorials is like giving a fish instead of teaching to fish. They will become linux exploiters, not linux users- not contributing to the community and expecting to get everything for free while secretly believing the linux community are a bunch of misguided fools.

Point rich dad to your sources.
Help him when he has problems.
Give him free software.
Give him config files and command line utils

But do NOT give free tutorials. If he's busy and needs coaching, then either you are

(a) his close friend
(b) his lover
(c) recieving payment for your services

To @rich dad:

Great that you want to be into linux! Dont feel that I am somehow trying to sabotage your efforts to learn linux. On the contrary, I'd like you to gain the full experience. In the beginning when I was trying to convince bigbrovar to switch to Linux, this was the approach I used and he is a 100%+ guru at the moment, in such a short space of time. When people have problems and come to me, i just send them here knowing that he and adewaleafolabi will sort them out. With luck, you will be just as good as they are. Just dont try to get tutorials, linux is about 'do it yourself, learn it yourself'.

Good luck and hope to see u here or on the ubuntunigeria forums, helping out other newbies!
Gaming / Re: Halo 3 Is Here! by dakmanzero(m): 12:41pm On Sep 25, 2007
Yep, Nigerians in Nigeria spend time/money on games.

Who do you think fuels the huge, booming informal gaming market at Alaba international and Ikeja computer village? Games sell as high as 5,000 bucks in ikeja preowned, for the 360.

The majority of Nigerians buy pirated ps2 games for 100-200 naira a disc, though. (thats roughly one dollar a pop)

There's a large market for used 360 and xbox games which are not as readily pirated. The you have brand new games at high street stpores sometimes going for as high as 12,000, AND still fly off shelves.

Gaming is big in Naija, and hidden in plain sight, just as the world of wizards is hidden from the muggles in Rowlings' beloved epic :-)

so nremove number (1) on that list.

CONFIRMED WORKING: ive revived a PSP that was shock-bricked (by being dropped into a gutter) using this method. PSP is 100% revived with a crappy subset of 1.5 fw that shall soon be CF upgraded!

Gaming / Re: Xbox Or Ps2? by dakmanzero(m): 2:44pm On Sep 21, 2007
i hope u havent paid for that ps3.

i have a ps3,ps2 and 360. I recently dashed the ps2 to my junior brother with all my games except god of war 2, which i play on the ps3.

the ps2's games are just primitive by todays standards. the graphics are horribly jagged unless you play on an old-skool tv. Accessing the disc forever, etc etc. Great games, but old games.

as for new generation hi-def games, only a few are on ps3 exclusively, but the majority are exclusive to 360. I hardly use the ps3 at all, even though i have 4 of the best exclsive games (heavenly sword, Gran turismo HD concept *free*, ninja gaiden sigma, resistance: fall of man). The 360 is where its at!

the ps3 is a bluray player and a ps2 that doesnt support pira. finish.
Computers / Re: Why Is My Laptop So Slow? Help! by dakmanzero(m): 8:49am On Sep 21, 2007
Nope. that is NOT correct.

by the same logic you would say that the world health organization deliberately allows disease to spread in order to make money for the pharmaceutical companies.

There is a reason Microsoft has kept clear of the whole virus business, its because of the likes of you. When their hand was finally forced and they had to get in on it to save face, their offerings were free. Remember the whole furore over windows defender and microsoft onecare? It is nontrivial for MS to make money off their products' misgivings.

Look at the extent to which they went to make vista secure, almost breaking all of the functionality in the process and making the OS undesirable and a headache for most users. If they really wanted to make money off viruses, they would never have done that, or released SP2 which almost made the whole virus problem moot save brontok and friends.

The point is that viruses exist as a self-perpetuating problem and the companies making money off managing the problem have enough of a task on their hands that they dont need to escalate the problem. Norton etc can be guilty of scaremongering and overhyping the threat posed by viruses, but they do NOT perpetuate the stuff.

MS software is porous only because it has to support so many hardware manufacturers, and so many configurations. It is simply a fact of life.

linux is more secure because it gives more control to the user and is more open and 'manual' in its configuration. As a downside it is difficult for a newbie to use and a headache to configure for daily activities.

MAC is more streamlined because apple has total control over the hardware. Its not rocket science, any OS company can make a rock solid OS once they control the hardware. Even MS did so with the xbox360 which is so far virus free and hack proof. All the old-school home computers like the BBC and the commodore 64 had OS that were made by the hardware manudfacturers so the user did not even know they existed.

Dont spread conspiracy theories. I'm sure you think osama bin laden is on George Bush's payroll
Gaming / Re: My Psp Don Crash Pata Pata by dakmanzero(m): 8:36am On Sep 21, 2007
khaikhai has the solution.

but you need 4 things first

1) you need an extra battery (the battery you convert will be useless from that day forward, so u need to spend cash on a new battery, sorry)
2) you need someone's PSP that has been hacked already (and the person should be willing to risk a known-psp-killer like you fooling around with it)
3) you need a good memory stick that you can format
4) you need someone who knows what the hell they are doing. That does NOT include most of the psp-ninjas at Ikeja.
Gaming / Re: Xbox Or Ps2? by dakmanzero(m): 7:51pm On Sep 20, 2007
@ralvy

You wrong, dude.

ps3 has so few games its irritating. 360 has far more games.

And as for the ps2, new ps2 games are coming out in a tiny trickle. The ps2 will only get you old (2 years ) games and crappy versions of current games.

If you are a real gamer, the 360 is the console to get.

But if u are pressed for cash, the ps2 is the console to get (like i said earlier) only because of the 2 cheaper consoles its the one with more games. Old games, sha.

Romance / Re: Why Nigerian Guys Move So Fast In Relationships? by dakmanzero(m): 5:14pm On Sep 20, 2007
Heh.

'tis nothing more than a bit of culture shock, m'dear.

He has papers already, AND you have proof he isnt after the 'wham bam thank you ma'am' experience, so we can rule out desperation (unless you happen to be filthy rich)

I suppose it's simply the way Najia men are socialized by our women here. They have cheapened the meaning of 'I love you' to the extent that it may pass as a simple dinner table pleasantry between acquaintances. In other words: What you may see as a rushed, haphazard approach may simply be what passes for a simple display of affection over here. Women here will absolutely ream you with their tongues if you don't call them three times a day every day of your life and say 'i miss you' and  'i love you' over and over again even if you absolutely do not mean what you are saying.

Simple solution: just treat the whole thing as if you are learning another language! Not all body language is the same. Get to know him better and you'll better understand what each thing he does or says really means. And don't be afraid to play hard-to-get to the point of ridiculousness,  that's how our girls behave over here. They EXPECT you to try to get into their pants every day of your life for donkey years just to prove that you REALLY want it. Conversely, the guys have come to expect you to reject their advances  even to the point of plain flat-out rudeness.

Sad, but true. lol! In any case, good luck.

PS: It is worth noting that it isn't unusual in this country for a guy to decide to marry a person who he has not known for up to a year.  Not the norm, but not unusual in any way,

PPS:

'Tis a shameful thing to admit, but there exists the definite possibility that the papers he showed you were fake and he simply wants to get you to put a ring on his finger and make him 100% legit. Yes, shameful, sad, but too many people do this crap and it would be hypocritical of me not to at least warn you. Double check all that stuff and satisfy yourself 100%. At the first hint of the word 'irregular' as regards any of his papers, run for the hills. *sigh*. such a pity that this warning has to be given at all,

I see.

If you are trying to say that the 0.0000000001% of Nigerian women who actually have brains beauty and are PAID should demand FINANCE before ROMANCE,  mmmm maybe they agree with you may be they don't.

I can however bet that most likely none of the women here who agreed with you fall into that category.

And since a lady who has got it all has no reason whatsoever to demand cash except, of course, if she happens to be a hoe, it does nothing to refute what I shall now call "Scopalo's law of Naija womanhood" (giving credit to the guy who came up with the law in the first place)
