Gaming / Re: Xbox 360 Still Kicking Ps3's Arse Graphically! by dakmanzero(m): 7:13pm On Jun 18, 2007
Sorry, tonex, but there is NOTHING on ps3 that looks as good as gears of war on a hidef screen

And games that appear on ps3 and 360 still look better on the 360, more than 6 months after launch. Check the link in the OP.

The ps3 is not even 1.2 times as powerful as 360, talk less of 2 times. All that grammar about cell was just smoke from crazy ken's arse, and now he's been fired.

The ps3's only trump cards are 50gb discs and a guaranteed hard drive. The 360 relies on 9GB discs and may/may not have a hard drive. But these are storage, not image quality issues. Bluray wont do squat for image quality.

There is a 3d version of FF3 for NES, not FF3 for SNES which is actually FF6

to avoid confusion:

JAP originals:

ff1 - (ff1 eng NES)
ff2- (never translated)
ff3 - (never translated)
ff4 - (ff2 eng SNES)
ff5-(never translated)
ff6-(ff3 eng SNES)
ff7 ps1
ff8 ps1
ff9 ps1
ff10 ps2
ff11 online
ff12 ps2

what the above shows u is that the game YOU love and want to play is

ff6JAP-ff3ENG-SNES

and the game that has become a 3d game now is

FF3JAP-never translated

Hope thats clear.

Computers / Re: Post Your Vista Problems Here by dakmanzero(m): 6:14pm On Jun 18, 2007
lol

I see u eventually chickened out smiley

Ah well. No wahala there. The person who gave u that load of jargon was just giving you the 'guaranteed to work no matter what' solution, which is something that is not possible on windows. The truth is, if you looked hard enough, you'd find a nice tiny file to download which you would install either by a simple modprobe command, or doubleclicking in gnome.

Why? because someone else would have done the stufff u are so afraid to do, saved the end result and posted it online for free. Thats the world of open source.

Remember I told u at the beginning. Entering the world of linux isnt just putting a new interface on your machine. Its opening a doorway to an inner world of computing, a world where anything is possible, where you have unlimited power over the incredible machine u have on ur desk an take for granted, and have been succesfully conned into thinking is a limited device like a toaster or a fridge that only does what bill or steve jobs says it can do.

Of course there's a learning curve to this, which I also warned u about. I said the lazy and dull need not apply. I'm not a linux evaneglist, Im not one of those that thinks linux should be on everyines pc. Let the lazy ones stick with windows, we dont need them! However if heres someone who i think is smart and would do much better for himself once freed from the shackles of windows, what more can i do than point him in the right direction?

linux gives by far more advanced ways of sharing pictures over the internet than yahoo messenger photo sharing. If you MUST use yahoo messenger, you can even use it, PLUS photo sharing, on Linux! But of course, u need to get a grip on the machine first!

OK, enuff about linux. As per com surrogate, the point is, the explorer still encountered some wahala even though divx was NOT installed. That of course means that something about divx files does npot agree with vista's architecture, soemthing that the divx guys have rushed to fix. Capish?

Computers / Re: Post Your Vista Problems Here by dakmanzero(m): 10:05am On Jun 18, 2007
bigrovar

just yesterday a coworker nearly killed me on top that com surrogate issue.

he never had divx anything installed on his machine. he merely had a few divx files sitting on a folder somewhere, that he didnt even know how to play, and whenever vista dexcided to do whatever whatever with them, it would bring up com surrogate error approximate;ly 50 times. deleting all the divx files was the only way out.

do I smell some stealthy DRM shit?

Also, trying to install acrobat reader 8.0 brought up random inexplicable errors, sometimes claiming it was out of space on a drive with over 10gigs free. Solution? download adobe reader 8.1. Also, installing acrobat pro 5 alongside reader 8 caused a host of completely inexplicable problems until we just uninstalled the whole shindig. even sef the macine went bonkers till it was rebooted.

bros. Vista no get am yet o
Computers / Re: Ubuntu Linux by dakmanzero(m): 10:01am On Jun 18, 2007
That will install just gcc and not the full set of build-essentials.

What I need is the ability to build source packages so I can install kernel modules. If that sounds like technical jargon, understand that these simple tasks:

a) running ubuntu in vmware
b) installing nvidia drivers

Require that capability.

It was silly for them to leave it out. Most linux distros come with it. *shrug*
Family / Re: Why Would A Man Go For A Second Wife? by dakmanzero(m): 9:35am On Jun 18, 2007
Seun is right. Ratio of men to women worldwide is very close to 50-50

However, men have a much smaller 'catchment period' when they are ready to get married, (or even desirable, since most women will not consider a man younger than them or the same age) and so for any given generation, the number of eligible men is smaller than the number of eligible women.

In short, women have to compete with their juniors while men do not.

So, a scenario where a man who is 'taken' already marries another wife, is simply a manipulation of statistics by a woman who has decided to even the odds, and have men compete with those OLDER than them, which normally wouldnt be the case if polygamy was not allowed.

Take a scan of Nairaland. You have women complaining about guys not being serious, using and dumping them, blah blah blah. You never see a guy complain about women not being serious or using them and dumping them.

When a man becomes 'eligible', he suddenly realises that he has a wide spectrum of choices from multiple generations.

Women on the other hand are faced with a rapidly shrinking pool as they get older and as the men older than them get married.

Polygamy isn't a one-way street. The second wife AGREED to be a second wife, and she courted the man while he was already married. I have never seen a happy polygamous home, but it is shortsighted to just assume that men who marry second wives are simply after more a$$. The issue is much deeper. If a guy wants a$$, there are mistresses, concubines and prostitutes out there- much less wahala than a second wife.

chill out dude. I'm Nigerian. But tell me, is Oil the first thing that comes to people's mind when they hear the name 'Nigeria'?

Have you looked at passport control's faces when they learn you are 'Nigerian'?

dude. Those that are not proud of being 9jans have a point.

Personally, I'm only proud to be Nigerian cos Naija kicks the arse of any other African Nation. Better to be from here than somalia
Culture / Re: Are You Proud To Be A Nigerian? by dakmanzero(m): 5:10pm On Jun 17, 2007
But you arent helping,by saying things like 'if he is not from the jungle is he from the city?!'

Lions stay in the savannah mostly. They prefer grassland where they can go after zebra, and where they can hang around swamps.

Much of Africa is not jungle (rainforest). In fact in Nigeria you only find the rainforest in the deep south/south west

Are you from Nigeria? If you are why not learn more about it?
Culture / Re: Are You Proud To Be A Nigerian? by dakmanzero(m): 5:00pm On Jun 17, 2007
Gorillas are the kings of the jungle you uninformed young twerp

They have big teeth and beat their chests and say 'awoo awoo awoo' like the spartans in 300

In fact, solid snake is the king of the jungle sef. Didn't you play metal gear solid three? "Solidu Snaku!!!! koko wa JANGURU da!!!!!"

Dont mind me, the jungle is full of Lions swinging from the trees like tarzan using their baseball-bat-like pen1ses. Hakuna Matata!!!!! No worries!

"In relatively recent times the habitat of lions spanned the southern parts of Eurasia, ranging from Greece to India, and most of Africa except the central rainforest-zone and the Sahara desert."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion

Lions don't live in the jungle you bleeding idiot.

Tigers and leopards live in the Jungle. Not lions. Christ.

Autos / Re: Who Drives Manual? by dakmanzero(m): 3:20pm On Jun 17, 2007
As long as I'm in naija I'll go with manual because of maintenance issues. However, even though auto is less fun to drive than manual its more practical because you needn't concentrate on so many things while driving.

so this is how it is:

NAIJA

for my normal car: Manual (so I dont have to marry my mechanic's daughter)
for my 'toy' car (luxury): Auto (so I can give my clutch foot a rest in hold ups and just chill out once a week on a weekend drive)

AWAY

for my normal car: Auto (so I can be a lazy idiot all week)
for my 'toy' car: Manual (because it's fun and I wont be suffering my clutch foot in endless traffic jams)

Manual is more fun and satisfying, but in a traffic jam you'll curse the clutch, and some times you just wish you had one hand free to fool around with ipod/phone/passenger's boobs.

Gbeborun

You say 'silly you' to me on the issue of NIGERIA not having a culture.

You then proceed to present an excuse for people commiting the deadly insult of mistaking one tribe for another by claiming that there are so many tribes, so its OK to just lump them togather as one.

You THEN go ahead to claim you agree that Nigerians are in an 'Identity crisis'

Then you attack babyosisi for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

I think you need to chill out, relax, and stop inhaling that glue or alabukun or whatever it is that is confusing you. Chill out, enh? Life isnt that hard!

(PS. Nigeria doesnt have a culture. Quote me anywhere. What are Nigerians known for worldwide besides 419?! What will a foreigner do that will make people say 'you act like a NIGERIAN', not 'You act like an Igboman' or 'you are an Ijebu')

Since so few people have responded, perhaps the section really *is* dead.

TV/Movies / Re: Nairaland Star Wars Fans Unite! Roll Call! by dakmanzero(m): 8:16am On Jun 17, 2007
Dude.

The scene with the younglings was perfect.

If they had shown anything more than the saber ignition it would have simply become more revelry in destruction.

Lucas is NOT a crappy director. Complain all you want, but he has made a series of six movies that are more succesful than anything on that scale in movie history. Analyse his style all you want, but the camerons and peter jacksons of this world would not exist if not for him. They said as much themselves.

The reason SW's otherwise good actors appeared so wooden in SW was the nature of the production. Principal photography is usually finished more than 2 years before the movie itself is ready. Imagine the cartoon sequences of cool world, mary poppins etc and you'll realise that the actors in SW did a damn fine job.

Dude. If Nute gunray is your idea if a 'good' actor, or even a good IDEA at all, I am suspicious of all your claims here. Soon you'll say Jar Jar was the redeeming factor of TPM!
