Controversial British media personality, Piers Morgan insulted a Nigerian in Nigerian pidgin English as they argued about the match between Nigeria and Argentina. During the World Cup game, Piers didn’t agree with the VAR when the machine gave Nigeria a penalty kick after Leon Balogun was fouled. Pierce said the VAR had failed and there was no way that was a penalty because it was the Nigerian player who leaned in and dived. Piers tweeted: “VAR fails again. No way was that a penalty.. leaned in & dived.” But a Nigerian felt he was being biased and called him out. Emmanuel Babalola tweeted back at Piers: “If it is England or Argentina ?? the VAR is correct right? But now it’s Nigeria ?? the VAR has failed. You are such a racist!” And Piers immediately went ghetto on him, writing: “Emmanuel, you dey craze.” The VAR has stirred up a sort of controversy across the world as most football fanatics are of the belief that it was created to side-line a certain set of participants at the Russia World Cup. The match between Argentina and Nigeria was obviously going in Nigeria's favour and football lovers are of the opinion that the tide changed after the referee's decision not to award a penalty to Nigeria after Rojo handled the ball in the 18 yard box. https://lailasnews.com/british-personality-piers-morgan-blasts-nigerian-in-pidgin-english-over-var/ lalasticlala

Anthony Joshua has been given a 24-hour deadline to sign to fight Russian Alexander Povetkin or face being stripped of some of his world heavyweight titles. Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has been negotiating for a unification bout with WBC champ, Deontay Wilder, but the WBA has refused to cooperate and wants him to face its own mandatory challenger. WBA president, Gilberto Mendoza, said in a statement: “Today, the WBA requested an answer from Anthony Joshua’s team regarding his fight with the mandatory challenger, Alexander Povetkin. “The WBA have allowed over a month extension to negotiations with Povetkin and also ongoing discussions with Deontay Wilder. “It appears the Wilder team have not returned the contract for the fight and therefore we are requesting a date for the ‘Joshua versus Povetkin’ fight with immediate effect.” The demand will not cause Joshua’s team too many issues, given negotiations with the Wilder camp appear to be deadlocked and former champion Povetkin represents the next-best bet for a stadium-filling autumn bout. Povetkin, who held the WBA’s ‘regular’ title between 2011 and 2013, beat Briton David Price in his last fight in March on the undercard of Joshua’s win over Joseph Parker in Cardiff. The Principality Stadium would be favourite to host the prospective contest between Joshua and Povetkin, confirmation of which would delay a clash with Wilder until at least next year. https://lailasnews.com/anthony-joshua-gets-24-hour-ultimatum-to-fight-or-risk-losing-title/ lalasticlala

Nollywood actress, Georgina Onuoha has slammed Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, over his comment on the recent killing in Plateau State. The Vice President had mentioned in his speech that there will be resettlement and rehabilitation for farmers to go back to their farmlands in Plateau and Georgina believes that is not the solution to the incessant killing in the state and other parts of the country. Read her post below: “I can not believe that this man is a pastor and now the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Eight people, among which are to Nigerians, have been arrested for their alleged roles in an Africa-based cyber conspiracy that U.S. law enforcement officials say defrauded companies and citizens of millions of dollars. Five of the defendants – a Mexican, two Americans, a Ghanaian and a Nigerian – were arrested in the U.S., the Justice Department said, NAN reports The other three – two Ghanaians and a Nigerian – were arrested outside the U.S. and were being held pending extradition. The arrests were made as part of the department’s efforts to fight schemes to intercept wire transfers from businesses and individuals. “The defendants allegedly unleashed a barrage of international fraud schemes that targeted US businesses and individuals, robbing them to the tune of approximately 15 million dollars,” said Acting Assistant Attorney-General John Cronan. The indictments are part of Operation Keyboard Warrior, a recently announced effort coordinated by U.S. and international law enforcement to disrupt online frauds perpetrated from Africa. The Africa-based co-conspirators committed a series of intrusions into the servers and email systems of a Memphis-based real estate company in 2017, according to the indictment. The defendants were able to use spoofed email addresses and other anonymisation techniques to identify large financial transactions and initiated fraudulent email correspondence with relevant business parties. They then redirected closing funds for real estate transactions to destinations in Africa. The indictment includes charges related to wire fraud, money laundering, computer fraud and identity fraud. Some of the Africa-based defendants are also charged with operating romance scams, fraudulent-check scams,gold-buying scams and credit card scams. https://lailasnews.com/2-nigerians-6-others-arrested-for-allegedly-stealing-15m-from-us-firms/

Some few weeks ago, popular singer, Davido, took to his various social media timelines to announce to the world on his purchase of a new Private Jet. The pop star also announced that it would be arriving in the country in about two weeks from the time of the announcement. But surprisingly, Nigerians have not seen any evidence of the Private jet and a lot of people have been throwing questions at Davido and at the same time questioning the authenticity of his purchase. It was even reported on some media that the billionaire's son actually lied about acquiring the jet all by himself, rather it was actually a “fractional ownership” in which his financial commitment in the arrangement is meagre while the major financiers have chosen to play down their involvement to give Davido conceded prominence. After the initial jet ownership saga, Davido who was relatively quiet over the issue, has now taken to his Twitter page and reacted to the question on his ownership of the private jet. The singer was made to react to the topic when one of his Twitter followers asked him about Air OBO. The DMW man responded in a jocular manner, saying: “e dey ground yakata… but as dem no wan gree say we get .. us sef gree say we no get … ”See tweet exchange below; https://lailasnews.com/davido-addresses-questions-on-his-alleged-private-jet-purchase/ lalasticlala

The host of the BBC show ‘The Apprentice’, Lord Suger, has come under severe criticism for referring to Senegal’s football heroes as people selling sunglasses and handbags on beaches.’ on Twitter. Although in his opinion he actually meant that they were ‘multi-tasking resourceful chaps’, but it did not go down well with social media users who accused him of being racist. He tweeted with the picture of the team, some handbags, and sunglasses that he recognised some of these guys from the beach in Marbella. Sugar has since deleted the tweet. See some of the responses: When racism becomes acceptable and "funny".Another person tweeted: A tweet about Senegalese players working on the beach is causing outrage and everyone is disgusted.. Yet a tweet about Polish people cleaning cars gets 10,000+ RT’sAnd this: Why did you delete the tweet if you thought it was so funny @Lord_Sugar ? I saved it for you. After the demise of the fast rising American rapper XXXTentacion, a lot seems to be unraveling on the rapper who wasn't quite popular on this side of the world. Not many people also know that his manger, Solomon Sobande is of Nigerian origin. XXXTentacion was shot dead in Deerfield Beach, Florida, on June 18. Authorities believe that he was the victim of a robbery. The Broward County Sheriff’s Department is offering a reward of $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case. According to a report by Heavy.com, here’s what you need to know about Solomon Sobande.: 1. Sobande Has a Pending Criminal Case in Which He’s Accused of Selling Fake Credit Cards: Online records show that Sobande is facing criminal charges of trafficking in counterfeit credit cards. Sobande was charged in Broward County, the same county where XXXTentacion was shot dead. Pitchfork reported in September 2017 that Sobande was also being represented by XXXTentacion’s lawyer David Bogenschutz. The same article notes that Sobande has pleaded not guilty in the case. 2. While a Student at the University of Hartford, Sobande Was Accused of a Prank that Caused a Lockdown at the School In November 2009, Sobande was a student at the University of Hartford in Connecticut. The Hartford Courant reported at the time that Sobande, along with three other students, were accused of staging a mugging in April of that year. The four allegedly held two other students at gunpoint as part of a prank. The incident led to a lockdown at the school and the presence of SWAT officers on campus. The four avoided jail time after pleading guilty to criminal trespass, criminal mischief and interfering with police. The judge in the case said that he didn’t understand how pretending to mug someone at gunpoint qualified as a prank. According to his LinkedIn page, Sobande graduated from the University of Hartford in 2012 with a degree in marketing as well as being prelaw. That same profile says that Sobande has worked for RCA and Columbia Records. In 2010, Sobande set up Sounds Music Group in New York City. 3. Sobande First Met XXXTentacion While the Rapper Was in Jail Sobande told Billboard Magazine in October 2017 that XXXTentacion was “just a young kid that was lost and needed a chance in life. So much stuff around him touched my heart. I just came to the point like, “I gotta help this kid.” Sobande said that he first began working with the rapper in late 2016. In a separate interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sobande said that the first time he met XXXTentacion, the rapper was in custody at the Turner Guilford Correctional Center in Miami. Sobande said, “I looked at him and I’m seeing someone who literally got dealt a bad hand in life… Knowing he had all this potential, I was sad for this kid. He’s got his own issues, but it’s safe to say he didn’t get the fairest hand.” At that time, XXXTentacion was being accused of witness tampering and harassment. https://lailasnews.com/meet-solomon-sobande-nigerian-manager-of-late-rapper-xxxtentacion/

Some pupils of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus School, Isolo, were reportedly detained by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, after the school bus driver allegedly violated the state traffic law. Punch Metro learnt that the bus driver had penultimate Wednesday gone to pick up pupils of the school at their houses in the Isolo area of the state. He had reportedly picked up two pupils in the neighbourhood when he was accosted by two LASTMA officials, who accused him of not using a seat belt. It was gathered that the steering of the Sienna bus was taken over by one of the LASTMA officials, who drove to the agency’s yard at Isolo. The pupils were reportedly held for over three hours and were released after their parents went for them. The vehicle was allegedly released to the school proprietor after an undertaking was signed. A parent, Mr Ikem Okuhu, whose kids were in the vehicle at the time, said the encounter traumatised his children. In a petition to the Lagos State Ministry of Transport, Okuhu said his children were released after his wife visited the LASTMA yard, adding that the officials insulted the woman and asked her to go to court if she felt her children were ill-treated. Okuhu’s lawyer, Nnamdi Nwonyishi, who wrote the petition, dated June 6, 2018, copied the General Manager of LASTMA and the Officer-in-Charge of LASTMA, Isolo. The lawyer demanded that the officials be disciplined, in addition to an apology and payment of N5m for general damages. Nwonyishi threatened that if the demands of N5m, an apology and sanction for the officers were not met, the case would be taken to court. The Public Affairs Officer of LASTMA, Mahmud Hassan, said although he doubted that a school bus was involved in the incident, the agency would investigate the allegations. https://lailasnews.com/lastma-officials-allegedly-detain-school-pupils-over-drivers-traffic-offence/ lalasticlala

A Nigerian father in the UK has been left to bring up his daughter alone after his wife died while six months pregnant - but her baby was delivered alive. Emmanuel Olubayo could only watch helplessly as Emma, a nursing team leader, collapsed from an undetected heart defect and died in the home they shared in Leicestershire. Paramedics tried for an hour to resuscitate the 41-year-old before performing a rare posthumous delivery. They carried out an emergency Caesarean section on the living room floor last November. The couple's baby girl Aretha was delivered alive then taken to hospital. Emmanuel said he was shocked to become a father and a widower on the same day. The 35-year-old education consultant said: “It is hard and I don’t really know how I am coping as single dad but I am. “I have to be strong for Aretha. One day I will tell her all about her mother and how wonderful she was.” He said he believed his wife of eight months, whose heart suddenly stopped, had battled on to give their daughter Aretha the chance to live. Aretha was born 10 weeks prematurely and was taken to hospital where she was cared for by members of the team that Emma led – the critical care outreach team which covers Glenfield Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital. Emmanuel, who was living in Birmingham, told how he and Emma fell in love after meeting in an internet dating chat room. “I knew when I started chatting to Emma online that she was special," he said. "We had an immediate connection. “We got on really well and arranged to meet after three weeks chatting.” The pair had their first date at the Parcel Yard pub in Leicester in May 2016. Emmanuel said: “I caught a train after work and we met at about 7pm. We did not want the night to end and I caught the last train home to Birmingham. The evening had flown by and we talked about everything and nothing. We could not wait to see each other and were in contact all the time from that night on. It was as if we were meant to be together.” The romance blossomed as Emma travelled to Birmingham and Emmanuel came to Leicester to see each other. In December 2016 – seven months after they first chatted online – Emmanuel popped the question. “We were out for meal in Birmingham when I got down on one knee in the restaurant," he said. “I gave Emma a sapphire ring and asked her to marry me. She said yes and was ecstatic. Everyone cheered. It was beautiful.” The pair married in Birmingham in April 2017. https://lailasnews.com/nigerian-man-in-the-uk-loses-wife-at-6-months-pregnancy-baby-survives/

Two Nigerian women have been hailed across India after they were able to resist attempts by some men to molest them. They eventually overpowered the men before handing them over to the Police. According to The Times of India, the unnamed Nigerians are students of Loyola college and Madras Christian college in India. They were reportedly walking to their rented accommodation when the two men accosted them and tried to molest them. The women would not go down without a fight, rained blows on their assailants while screaming for help. Their cries for help attracted people to the scene and on seeing this, the assailants tried to flee but the two women would not give up and gave chase. Helped by a few passersby, they outran and overpowered the men before a police patrol team arrived the scene. The two women sought the help of officials at the Nigerian embassy, saying they were set to leave for home soon after completing their studies. Santhosh Haidmeni, Kancheepuram district superintendent of police, said the accused were in custody. “We have the two accused with us and are questioning them; we are waiting for a formal complaint to draft our first information report (FIR),” he said. “The police registered a case against the men under IPC 354 (a): assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty; 323: attack with hands; 294 (b): abusing and 506 (II): criminal intimidation, apart from Section 4 of Tamil Nadu women harassment prevention act. “A magistrate court is set to send them to jail on Wednesday.” There have been reported cases of rape in India, sometimes leading to the death of victims. https://lailasnews.com/2-nigerian-women-overpower-beat-their-molesters-in-india/

The Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup kicks off today and the entire world is looking up to the host Russia to deliver the best of the biggest sporting event in the world. According to PremiumTimes, there are three things that will constantly be highlighted by the media – Video Assistant Referee [VAR], racism, and goals. VAR FIFA has decided referees need help so they have conscripted more referees to become Video Assistant Referees [VAR] to help ensure that more often than not, the proper decisions are made on the pitch. “If you see some assistant referee not raising the flag, it’s not because he’s making mistakes,” said Pierluigi Collina, the chairman of FIFA’s referees’ committee. Collina added: “It’s because he’s respected the instruction to keep the flag down. They were told to keep the flag down when there is a tight offside incident and there could be a very promising attack or a goal-scoring opportunity because, if the assistant referee raises the flag, then everything is finished.” In what many had called for – the need for technology to increase the efficiency of referees to get correct decisions -= this trial must succeed for many others to follow. Racism Bryan Idowu changed nationality last year and will represent Nigeria at Russia 2018. He told Amkar Perm website in 2016, “…Then it was hinted to me that with my skin colour the path to the main team was unfeasible. The reason was the fans, who don’t like dark-skinned players.” Racism in Russia is a fact, whether it would rear its head during this tournament is the question. As recent as March this year, Russian fans heckled some black players from France during a friendly match – a case for which FIFA fined Russia’s soccer federation $29,600. Aleksandr Alayev, the Russian federation’s acting chief told Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency, Russia would make the persons responsible for the rude actions to pay and that the federation “will do everything possible to prevent the repetition of such incidents in the future.” Goals Football is about goals and will always be. The greatest cheer in the stadium and far away from the action across many television sets is when the net bulges. The Technical Study Group for the 2014 World Cup revealed, “the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil was marked by top quality and attacking football, excellent players, and a positive general football philosophy. “The teams’ objectives were to score and win matches instead of trying not to lose or concede. This led to a glut of goals, 171 in total at an impressive average of 2.67 goals per match, which matched the record set in France in 1998.” The UEFA Champions League, with which many judge FIFA’s footballing extravaganza, also saw more attacking football, which led to more goals, and spectacular at that, being scored. Will the matches in Russia be open and free flowing or will they be cagey and boring? The fans want to see goals! https://lailasnews.com/3-key-things-you-need-to-understand-as-world-cup-kicks-off-in-russia/

Last week, a youth corps member serving in Lagos state was humiliated after a video of some persons accusing her of stealing an iphone 6s went viral. The ladies in the video accused her of stealing the phone and wanting to extort money from them before she returned the phone. Jojo through her lawyers have now released a statement detailing what transpired with evidence to back up her claims. Read the statement and see all the evidence below We are Solicitors to Miss Jojo (hereinafter referred to as ‘Our Client’) on whose instructions and behalf we issue this statement. We are aware that some individuals have erroneously labelled our client “a thief’ out of sheer ignorance or heightened sense of malice as a result of the incident that occurred on June 6, 2018. This is of course, due to the lack of a full grasp of the true story leading up to the incident. Thus, for the avoidance of doubt, and to make right her precious image, we deem it expedient to make a statement, on the true facts of what transpired. These facts are hereby set out forthwith seriatim. On March 23, 2018, our Client entered a contract for the supply of clothes with one Mr. Fumbi Kuponiyi (trading under the name and style of Fame Wears) who persistently refused and/or willfully neglected to discharge his obligations under the terms of the contract, upon payment of the sum of #40,000.00 ( forty thousand naira only) by our Client. We have attached below, a screenshot of our Client’s conversation with Fumbi acknowledging the debt of #40, 000.00 to our client. Upon series of futile attempts to recover her money, which saw the said Fumbi ignoring her calls and messages, our Client was able to set up a meeting with him at the Ikeja City Mall on April 27, 2018 where upon verbal confrontation, an iPhone 6s was forcefully collected from Fumbi as collateral for the unliquidated debt albeit not without him making fuss about it in public. In a rather shocking period that followed, Fumbi neither called nor attempted to recover ‘his iphone 6s’, especially as he had earlier strongly resisted the use of the said phone as a collateral. Our client reached out and informed him, to come and retrieve the phone. (a screenshot of this conversation is attached below) but Fumbi remained unperturbed. It then became clear that something was amiss. Our client then thoughtfully, reasoned that the only basis for Fumbi’s nonchalance was perhaps, because the phone did not belong to him. However, there was a problem, the screen of the phone was damaged and the owner of the said phone could not be ascertained. To cure this anomaly, our Client demonstrated an extraordinary act of kindness by repairing the screen of the phone for the sum of #30,000.00 (the invoice from the repairer with the said amount is attached below). After repairs it was discovered that the phone had icloud protection and the repairer suggested that the owner might be contacted using contacts from the sim card found during repair if inserted into another iphone. Our Client honourably contacted the owner of the phone(Miss Judith) and informed her of the circumstances surrounding her phone. She in turn told our client that she had misplaced the phone in NYSC camp, at which point our Client realised that she was also a Youth Corps member and they had been in the same NYSC camp although they never met. The owner also acknowledged that the screen of the phone was damaged at the time it was stolen and our client made it clear that the phone was a collateral for the debt incurred by Fumbi who had then become inaccessible, but emphatically stated that she could come for her phone as she had no intention of punishing her for Fumbi’s actions. The owner thanked her for her kind gestures and both parties eventually agreed that Miss Judith would liquidate the sum of #30,000.00 used in fixing her phone, and on the suggestion of our Client, that she will liquidate an additional debt of #20,000 (adding up to #50,000.00) owing to the fact, that once the phone is gone, her #40,000.00 debt owed her by Fumbi will be lost. Miss Judith saw reason with this, and agreed. (We have begun the process of retrieving the telephone communication between our client and the said owner which would be made available to the public to buttress this point). We make bold to say, that our client had at no time demanded for any ransom from the owner (this would be hilarious as she never kidnapped any phone nor had interest in keeping a phone that was not hers), all she wanted was predominantly the #30,000.00 expended on the phone to ascertain its true owner. (We have attached a video dated June 5, 2018 sent to the owner calling on her to come and retrieve her phone, and just bring her money, her loss was becoming too much). The parties agreed to meet at Circle Mall, Lekki. However, the owner of the Phone came with a Police officer to arrest our client as the “thief” of her stolen phone. Our client explained her story to the police, who neglected, refused and failed to investigate or inquire about the said Fumbi. Our client was painfully and unfortunately detained at the Ilasan Police station, Lekki Jakande without legal representation. The police refused to hear or investigate her story. She was eventually granted bail at 8p.m in the tune of #80,000.00 (eighty thousand naira only) and her iphone was seized till full payment was made the next day. We must categorically state, that our client was charged to court, but all allegations against our client were struck out by the learned trial Judge who demanded our client to be more careful with her business partners (in reference to Fumbi Kuponiyi) in future by signing an undertaking to that effect. (A copy of this ruling is accessible to any member of the public who so desire to have it). We wish to state that up till this day, the 30,000.00 used in fixing her phone, and on the suggestion of our Client, that she will liquidate an additional debt of #20,000 (adding up to #50,000.00) owing to the fact, that once the phone is gone, her #40,000.00 debt owed her by Fumbi will be lost. We wish to state that up till this day, the #30,000.00 expended on the phone by our client has not been paid to her, irrespective of the fact that the owner acknowledged that the screen of the phone was faulty even when she had it. We wish to reemphasize the fact that our client is not a thief and has never demonstrated any criminogenic propensity. We use this medium to call on all purveyors of defamatory publications and comments or insulting rumours to desist from such. In all honesty, somelogical questions should pass through our minds as seekers of the truth: I. True, the phone had icloud protection, is it not possible for it to be sold in the ‘black market’ at whatever value possible? Why go through the hassle of getting to the owner if our client had a guilty mens rea? II. Why did the police not investigate the said Fumbi or at least bring him in for questioning? (We have attached a conversation between Fumbi and our Client on June 8 immediately after becoming aware of the ‘theft’ story propagated on social media). We leave these questions for the public to answer without the clouding effect of sentiments. We humbly entreat ALL bodies or individuals promoting defamatory content against our client to kindly desist and remove ALL defamatory content forthwith. Failure to do so, we will be forced to seek redress via litigation and its antecedent consequences. This is the moment a woman was left with an eyeliner pencil lodged in her eye after the taxi she was travelling in slammed into a truck while she was putting on her make-up. The passenger, in her 20s, was sitting in the back of the cab in a slow-moving traffic jam in Bangkok, Thailand, and applying eyeliner on the way to see her friends. But the cab driver then crashed into a pick-up truck in front – jolting the woman forward. She hit the seat in front, accidentally thrusting the pencil into her left eye. When rescue workers arrived at the scene they found almost the whole of the eye liner pencil lodged in her eye. The woman, who was still conscious had blood coming from her nose. This morning Thai media reported that doctors had managed to safely remove the pencil and described the woman’s condition as stable. The woman was expected to make a full recovery with no lasting damage to her eye, doctors said. Paramedic Thanabodee Sabbodi said while the crash was minor the ‘freak accident’ had caused half of the pencil to plunge into the eye socket of the young woman, who has not been identified. He said: ‘The crash happened at 5.20pm in Din Daeng area of Bangkok while the lady was putting on make-up on her way out for the evening. ‘We received a call and there was one injured female with an eyebrow pencil inserted into her left eye. https://lailasnews.com/lady-gets-eyeliner-pencil-lodged-in-her-eye-while-applying-make-up/ lalasticlala

A man identified as Paul Achegbulu has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for running an illegal blood bank in the Bariga area of the state. Achegbulu was arrested by a team led by Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal Tuesday after detectives got information that the suspect was draining blood from children in his one-room apartment and selling same to some clinics. It was gathered that the police team recovered seven pints of blood from his 18, Kusa Bus Stop, Bariga residence. According to residents, trouble started for the suspect on June 10, after he drew two pints of blood from a 17-year-old boy, Ayomide Adesanya, which made the victim to pass out. He was said to have also drawn two pints from the same victim on June 4, and on each day, he gave the victim N2, 000. Imohimi, who also visited Adesanya at the hospital he was admitted after he passed out, told reporters that the suspect lured underage children with the N2, 000 offer, while he confessed that he sold the blood for N7, 000. He said: “Adesanya became weak after donating four pints of blood. He collapsed and is currently receiving treatment at the Bariga Hospital. “The mother told us that the daughter’s friend informed them of Adesanya’s condition after she saw him on a bike.” But the suspect said he did not know Adesanya was underage, adding that the victim told him he was 20-year-old. “It was when his parents came to confront me that I knew he was 17. He told me he was 20. I am a lab scientist. I was trained five years ago at Nigerian Institute of Laboratory Science Technology. “Lab technicians from hospitals used to come and buy blood from me. I used to sell the blood through my assistant, Alfa. He’s the one who knows the hospitals he sold to. I do not know where he is at the moment.” https://lailasnews.com/police-uncover-illegal-blood-bank-in-lagos-arrest-suspect/

Tanzania has all bloggers and online forums that are not registered in the country to suspend their websites immediately or face criminal prosecution, as critics accuse the government of tightening control of internet content. Several sites, including popular online discussion platform Jamiiforums, said on Monday they had temporarily shut down after the state-run Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) warned it would take legal action against all unlicensed websites. Regulations passed in March made it compulsory for bloggers and owners of other online forums such as YouTube channels to register with the government and pay up to $900 for a licence. Per capita income in Tanzania is slightly below $900 a year. Digital activists say the law is part of a crackdown on dissent and free speech by the government of President John Magufuli, who was elected in 2015. Government officials argue the new rules are aimed at tackling hate speech and other online crimes, including cyberbullying and pornography. "All unregistered online content providers must be licensed before June 15. Starting from today June 11 until June 15, they are prohibited from posting any new content on their blogs, forums or online radios and televisions," the regulator said in a statement on Monday. The statement said legal action would be taken against any unregistered websites posting new content. Anyone convicted of defying the new regulations faces a fine of at least 5 million shillings ($2,200), imprisonment for a minimum 12 months, or both. Jamiiforums, a whistle-blowing website, said it had shut down its online discussion platform after the threat from the communications watchdog. The website has been enmeshed in a court battle for nearly a year to keep the site online. The website's slogan is "where we dare to talk openly". Most users post their comments under pseudonyms, but the website has been accused by authorities and individuals of allowing people to post fabricated allegations. The Paris-based Reporters Without Borders group has said the new online content rules "will kill off Tanzania's blogosphere". This year neighbouring Uganda and Kenya have also moved to regulate internet uses with new laws, though their new rules are less strict than Tanzania's. https://lailasnews.com/tanzania-orders-all-unregistered-bloggers-to-take-down-their-sites/

Former Big Brother Naija housemates, Ifu Ennada, Alex and Rico are currently in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State where they have been booked to host some shows. The former housemates then took to the street on a peace walk and just as it is the norm, they decided to share the photos on social media. The photos actually didn't go well with some non-fans who took their time to berate the reality TV stars, especially Ifu Ennada and Alex. A particular fan in her comment asked Ifu to shut up because of her drama with rapper CDQ, While another asked why Alex looked like a drag queen, well Ifu Ennanda was on duty as she promptly replied them in kind. If you recollect, Ifu Ennada while still on the show, had accused rapper CDQ of using and dumping her. The rapper in his response claimed he never did anything of such and she was just an item for a one-night stand. This actually led to series of responses from both parties before they finally settled. Ifu Ennada even made an appearance at the rapper's birthday party which had a whole lot of other stars in attendance. Alex on the other hand has not found herself in the good books of some fans who still believe she actually snatched Tobi from Cee-C. https://lailasnews.com/may-envy-bitterness-and-hate-destroy-you-ifu-ennada-replies-non-fan/ lalasticlala

Read his tweets below… “One day in Nigeria we will talk about Bobrisky’s quiet revolution. Theses will be written about how, with all her issues, she is challenging the meaning and idea of gender in a way more radical than we can ever do with words. You don’t have to like her.
