Up and coming singer, Yoko B is currently still insisting that Music legend, 2face stole his song; “Amaka” and that the established attire also demanded that he tenders an apology to him. According to the visibly distraught Yoko B, 2face’s lawyers have reached out to his team demanding an apology. “They (2face’s lawyers) are demanding for an Apology from us accusing us of trying to taint 2face’s name. Can you imagine? Am I not the one to request for an apology from them for manipulating our song and stealing our concept? Instead of getting us involved before recording theirs. That is pure wickedness and an inhuman act towards a fellow being. “They used a different producer who works with them in their studio so it won’t look obvious that I was copied, period. They said I should withdraw my statement and write an apology letter to them for trying to defame 2face. “These people know what they are doing. I am sure that somehow, 2baba must have heard the song. To cover their tracks, 2baba’s version was produced by another producer, Sperochbeatz, but they all work in the same studio.” “They can’t do such thing to us and expect us to be calm about, we paid money for the production of the said song Amaka. We are still saving up for the video and we have already been negotiating with music video director, Avalon Okpe. He continued: “I released my song five months ago and I have been unable to raise funds to shoot the video. The new song, Amaka, by 2baba featuring Peruzzi is my concept. Richie, who also produced the chorus of the song, produced the song.” “Shortly after producing my song, Larry Gaga employed Richie and he left Festac Town for Lekki where he worked with 2baba. My songs were still on his computer at that point. I was shocked when I discovered that they had ‘stolen’ the title, concept and message of my song”. “The producer is not saying anything reasonable. All he keeps saying is that is that anyone can sing a song and name it Amaka. “They said they don’t know what I am saying. They say I’m making a false accusation to gain publicity. But I wonder why the concept and instrumental of the songs are so similar if something isn’t fishy.” “Right now I’m so fed up with some of our Naija top artistes in the music industry. Once they arrive, they can never help you grow instead they will prefer to reap you off and frustrate you.” https://lailasnews.com/2face-asked-me-to-apologise-despite-stealing-my-song-yoko-b/ lalasticlala

The South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, has blamed criminal elements in his country for the killings of Nigerian resident over there. He however debunked the rumours that the killings are as a result of xenophobia against non-South Africans and vowed to bring perpetrators to book. Ramaphosa was responding to a journalist’s question during a joint press conference he held with President Muhammadu Buhari, after their closed-door meeting in Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja. The South African President, who acknowledged that Nigerians through their support and sacrifice helped end the apartheid rule in his country, said it will be wrong to assume that Nigerians were being targeted as a result of xenophobia, as “South Africans cannot hate Nigerians”. Ramaphosa explained that the high level of unemployment in South Africa which he puts at 9 million has resulted to crimes that involve and affect citizens and foreigners alike. He however assured that his government was working hard to reduce crime rate in the country. He said: “There has been quite a number of incidence in our country where foreign nationals some of whom are Nigerians have lost their lives and are being attacked. I will like to say here and now that, that has been as a result of criminal activity among our own people which we are focusing on from a criminal element point of view. “I want to state here and now that South Africans do not have any form of negative disposition or hatred towards Nigerians and in the main Nigerians in South Africa and a number of places of our country live side by side, they cooperate very well and some are in the corporate structures of our various companies and some are traders and some are into a number of things. “So, I want to dispel this notion that when a Nigerian looses his or her life in South Africa, it is as a result of an intentional action by South Africans against Nigerians. That is simply not true. Ramaphosa described the situation as disturbing, saying it is capable of hurting the recently-signed Continental Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) aimed at deepening intra-African commerce. Speaking at the opening of the 25th annual meetings of the African Export Import Bank (Afrexim Bank), Ramaphosa said his administration realizes the role safety and security play in boosting intra-African trade and commerce and as such had begun tackling the xenophobic killings in order to guarantee sustained peace and progress on the continent. He also revealed that a robust continental security masterplan exists at the African Union (AU) where a peace and security council was addressing the issues of security on the continent. He said: “It is tagged silence the guns” all in a bid to achieve security and safety. This free trade agreement has derivatives and want to see how countries grow economically and see how the guns are silenced. “We have safety of people and movement of goods etc that are fully captured in the CFTA. He said the CFTA was a most welcome development, urging all nations to sign the agreement in view of the enormous potential inherent in it: “The agreement is pregnant with opportunities and of course challenges. We can then trade more effectively with one another devoid of tariff and then increase demand for the goods produced and sold. People will see the need to be manufacturing goods since a close market exists. “It will boost industrialisation and indeed, it presents the grandest opportunities to go behind politics and solve conflicts through trade.” https://lailasnews.com/criminals-behind-killings-of-nigerians-in-south-africa-cyril-ramaphosa/ lalasticlala

A retired Director of Mobilisation at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Anthony Ani, has insisted that the purported Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun's exemption certificate is not genuine and “wouldn’t have been issued by the NYSC”. Adeosun has been under fire recently for skipping the mandatory NYSC year and presenting a certificate alleged to be fake to cover her tracks, Daily Post reports. She is yet to respond to the allegations since they became public last weekend. Ani, who appeared on Channels Television’s breakfast show, Sunrise Daily, said the certificate had footprints of a fake NYSC certificate. He insisted that there was no way NYSC would issue Certificate of Exemption to anyone who graduated before 30 years. “You don’t apply for either NYSC certificate or NYSC certificate of national service or certificate of exemption, you present yourself for mobilisation. The system will determine whether you are to be exempted or you are not to be exempted,” Ani said. Answering another question, he insisted that “[by] the NYSC procedure, you don’t apply for exemption and expect a certificate. You make yourself available [for mobilisation], when you are mobilised, those who are to be exempted are exempted and those who are to be deployed are deployed.” https://lailasnews.com/ex-nysc-director-claims-kemi-adeosuns-exemption-certificate-is-fake/ lalasticlala

Amasa Firdaus, the law graduate who challenged the restriction on the use of hijab during call-to-bar ceremonies says she was used as an instrument by Allah. It could be recalled that the University of Ilorin graduate was in December denied access into the hall for the ceremony, which took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, for refusing to remove her hijab. This generated controversies. She had insisted that wearing the hijab does not contradict the dress code set by the law school, while describing the action as “a violation of her rights”. In June, the body of benchers responsible for calling law graduates to bar approved the use of hijab, and Firdaus was called to bar on Tuesday. Speaking to The Cable on how she felt, Firdaus said: “I don’t feel any special.https://lailasnews.com/hijab-controversy-how-god-used-me-to-break-barrier-amasa-firdaus/

The road to the 2018 Ekiti election is already seeing politicians coming to the electorates with their promises of incentives to motivate them to cast their votes in their favor. Late on Monday, July 9, 2018, the state's governor, Ayodele Fayose, took to his Twitter account (@GovAyoFayose) to reiterate an earlier promise to compensate residents of the state who are illegally arrested by the police or Department of State Services (DSS). He posted: "Henceforth, anyone that is arrested illegally by Fayemi and his rampaging Policemen and DSS on this election issue will get N50k for each night spent in detention."The governor initially made the promise after he met with Aborisade Sunday, a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who claimed that he was illegally detained by the DSS for five days. "They detained me for five days. They put chain on my hands and legs. I cannot hear through my left ear now due to the beating I received from them," Sunday said. The governor promised him the sum of 250,000, amounting to 50,000 a night, and further promised to reward other members of the PDP in DSS custody. Fayemi gives free fuel to okada riders In similar vein, candidate of the All Progressives' Congress (APC) in the July 14 election, Dr Kayode Fayemi, provided free five litres of fuel each to commercial motorcycle riders in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Monday. According to a report by Vanguard, the supply was launched at Mobil Petrol Station along Ikere Road in Ajilosun with the riders forming long queues, many of them reportedly decorating their bikes with the posters of Fayemi. Fayemi was reported to have showed up to the filling station at about 10:45 am to wild jubilation from the beneficiaries of his free fuel. He told the riders that he doesn't plan to ban commercial motorcycle operations if elected, as alleged by the PDP, promising instead to provide more incentives including soft loans, equipment, as well as to provide good roads to aid their operations. He also noted that during his first term as the state's governor, he gave the riders' unions N150,000 monthly allowance for logistics and running of their office, procured 280 motorcycles and 500 tricycles for them, and gave their union a brand new bus. He said his administration also celebrated Okada Riders' Day and provided 3,000 free helmets for their use. https://lailasnews.com/ekiti-election-fayose-promises-residents-n50000-fayemi-provides-free-fuel/

A tragedy was averted at a Filling Station in Ado the Ekiti, the state capital after a petrol tanker spilled its content on the road moments after offloading. The incident occurred while the tanker was pulling out of the filling station, spilling the remnant of its contents in the process. The incident would have escalated into a tragic explosion but men of the state fire service swung into action, preventing a fire outbreak around the tanker or at locations where the split remnant of its content flowed to, via the drainage. Governor Ayodele Fayose in reaction visited the scene. He warned businesses owners to comply with standards and safety measures while going about their businesses. “They need to put the interest of the state and the people first. Today, many lives would have been lost because this is a tanker containing PMS. “In doing business, especially businesses with this kind of sensitivity, like the oil an gas, they have to keep to standard and measures for the safety of our people. Nigerian singer, Damilola Afolabi, aka LAX, was under fire some few days ago after it was reported in the news media that he mentioned in an interview that singer Victoria Kimani was his girlfriend. Shortly after that, Kimani took to social media to debunk his claims. She wrote on Instagram, “Lies and corruption.” However, in an exclusive chat with Sunday Scoop, LAX denied saying that Kimani was his girlfriend. He said: “It was a misconception. I granted an interview and I said she (Kimani) was my ‘Woman Crush Everyday’. I didn’t say she was my girlfriend. She’s my friend and we are cool; I even have a song with her on my forthcoming album. However, with what happened, I think I need to change my crush. I am actually not in a relationship at the moment. The major quality I look out for in a woman is someone who is understanding.” Speaking on his recent song Nobody, in which he featured Wizkid, Afolabi said: “It has been doing really well. As a matter of fact, it is number eight on the charts right now. I’m grateful to Wizkid for ‘jumping’ on the track with me; it was really great and people are loving it. All the songs Wizkid and I have worked on together have turned out to be great hits; that shows that we have good chemistry between us.” Kimani The Gbefun singer also stated that his debut album was nearing completion. “I have been recording for a while and the album will be released before the end of the year. However, I will be putting out a single next week. Some of the artistes I worked with on the album are Davido, Wizkid and Ycee,” he said. According to him, the biggest lesson he has learnt in his career is to stay in the studio and keep recording until a hit song comes. The singer also stated that things have been better for him since he left Wizkid’s Starboy Entertainment. He said: “I have gained more support since I started out on my own. I feel stronger now because I constantly have to make business decisions.” Reacting to those who still see him as an up-and-coming singer, Damilola said, “That is their opinion. Nollywood actor, Bayo Bankole, popular referred to as Alinco, has been off the radar for some time now, but recently surfaced after he was involved in a ghastly motor accident in the United States. The actor whom so many people believed his career had ended, however refuted the claim and maintained that he is still well grounded in the Nollywood industry. Speaking with Sunday Scoop, the actor opened up on why he decided to take the chance to move outside of the country. “My relocation to the United States has not affected my career in any way. I still act and have featured in some movies shot here. I recently acted in a film produced by Lola Alao and it will be released soon. It was shot in Toronto, Canada. I am also involved in promotions of all kinds; working with actors and musicians. I do transportation business as well,” he said. Explaining why he travelled out of the country in the first place, Alinco said: “I decided to leave Nigeria in order to get the best for myself and to also equip myself with the most quality training possible in the industry.” Narrating how the ghastly accident he had in Texas recently happened, he said: “I was at a traffic light and it was on red. I was waiting for it to turn green when suddenly a vehicle rammed into me. I sustained injuries to my neck and head but give glory to God that it wasn’t more than that.” On when next he would be returning to Nigeria, he said, “By God’s grace, I should be home on holiday before December.” https://lailasnews.com/relocating-to-the-united-state-has-not-ended-my-career-alinco/ lalasticlala

Popular singer, Blackface, has called out Nigerian celebrities on their silence on the killings of citizens at different parts of the country. According to him, they are not doing enough to sensitize the world on the vices. In a chat with Saturday Beats, he said that the killings around the country would have reduced if only Nigerian singers unite with one voice to speak against the menace: “They have killed a lot of people from my village, Agatu, in Benue. They have also killed people in Makurdi, and other places in Benue; then as they move up north to Adamawa, the trail of dead bodies continues. It does not affect my state alone. Sadly, the musicians are not doing anything about it. Some musicians just claim that they help victims either to gain public praises or for political reasons. Why can’t we come together and think of ways we can stop the killings probably by staging a concert?” he said. The singer further mentioned that as a socially conscious singer, he has always sung about the ills of the society but the radio stations would not play his songs because he is in their bad books. The singer claimed that ever since he raised the alarm that certain singers stole some of his songs, he became blacklisted by the media. “I did a song which preaches against the killings but radio stations would not play it because I am in their bad books. Simply because I said some people stole my songs, that is why they placed me in their bad books. I know there is a plan against me. I am an independent musician and I do not need Tuface to push my music. If I release a song titled, ‘Stop the killings,’ and the radio big boys do not play it, only a few people would listen to the message I am preaching which is of national benefit. The so-called big OAPs like Freeze, who is always talking about pastors, are on the radio but they are not doing anything to push socially conscious songs that preach a message. But if Tekno sings a ‘Jogodo’, they will gladly play it. Their nonchalant attitude would destroy a lot of things and only bring more chaos. I have always advised the younger artistes to seek the permission of older artistes before they use their songs but no one listened. Wizkid took my song, ‘Whine it,’ sang it with Banky W and put it on his album, ‘Starboy.’ That same song is on my album, ‘Dancehall business.’ When I raised the alarm, the whole media kicked against me and they stopped playing my music. Yet they say I am the bad one. How long would they keep sabotaging me?” he said. https://lailasnews.com/nigerian-celebrities-not-doing-enough-to-stop-killings-blackface/ lalasticlala

An up-and-coming artiste, Analike Okezie with the stage name Yoko B, has accused popular singer, 2face Idibia of stealing his song, Amaka. Recall that 2face recently released a song titled, Amaka. On the track, the singer sang about a certain Amaka who disappointed him after promising him that she would come to his house. On the song featuring DMW’s Peruzzi, the singer narrated how he had made arrangements such as buying diesel and alcohol, only for the girl to fail to turn up. Meanwhile, in Yoko B’s version, the singer also sang about how Amaka broke his heart after she claimed to love him. The beat of the two songs also sound similar. In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Yoko B said: “Right now, I am fed up with some of the top artistes in this country. Once they are up there, they can never help you grow. They prefer to rip you off and frustrate your hustle. The new song, Amaka, by 2baba featuring Peruzzi is my concept. The song was produced by Richie, who also did the chorus of the song. Shortly after producing my song, Richie was employed by Larry Gaga and he left FESTAC Town for Lekki where he worked with 2baba. My songs were still on his computer at that point. I was shocked when I discovered that they had ‘stolen’ the title, concept and message of my song. I released my version about five months ago and I have been trying to promote it with the little resources I have. I was already negotiating with Avalon Okpe to direct the video when 2baba released his version. I feel bad that they cheated me because I am an up-and-coming artiste. I want the world to know what has been done to me.” On whether he had made his grievances known to Richie personally, Yoko B said: “Yes, I complained to him but he didn’t say anything reasonable. He said anybody can come up with the title, Amaka. But I wonder why the concept and instrumental of the songs are so similar if something isn’t fishy. I am sure that somehow, 2baba must have heard the song. To cover their tracks, 2baba’s version was produced by another producer, Sperochbeatz, but they all work in the same studio.” However, a man identified as Richie, who claimed to be his manager answered the call and threatened our correspondent not to publish the story. He said: “The guy (Yoko B) is just looking for cheap fame. I am Richie’s manager and I know about the whole story. We really don’t have anything to say concerning the matter. He should go anywhere in the world concerning the issue. For your own good, I would advise you not to publish the story. I don’t know if Yoko B has the power to finish what he has started.” When contacted, 2baba’s manager, Efe Omoregbe, stated that he was unaware of the allegation. He said, “This is the first time I’m hearing about that claim and I cannot comment on what I don’t know about.” https://lailasnews.com/2face-stole-the-song-amaka-from-me-yoko-b/ lalasticlala

A London-based Nigerian nurse and politician who used voodoo threats to traffic vulnerable women from Nigeria to Germany to work as prostitutes has been jailed for 14 years. Josephine Iyamu exposed her five victims to a “real and significant” risk of death as they made hazardous journeys across north Africa and the Mediterranean to Italy. All five women were forced to swear oaths to hand over money during “juju” ceremonies which saw them ordered to eat chicken hearts, drink blood containing worms, and endure powder being rubbed into cuts. Iyamu, a married 51-year-old formerly of Wilson Grove, Bermondsey, is the first person to be prosecuted in the UK for arranging or facilitating travel for sexual exploitation of victims with no connection to Britain. As well as being found guilty of five offences under the Modern Slavery Act, Iyamu was convicted of perverting the course of justice while on remand, by arranging for relatives of the complainants in Nigeria to be arrested. Passing sentence at Birmingham Crown Court, Judge Richard Bond told the Liberia-born nurse that her “vile” offences had left the women in fear of their lives. As Iyamu stared at the floor in the dock, Judge Bond told her she would have been fully aware of the dangers involved in a four-week land journey across the Sahara to Tripoli in Libya, followed by a sea voyage on inflatable boats. Passing sentence, the judge told Iyamu: “Trafficking human beings is an ugly offence – it must always be dealt with severely by the courts to deter others from taking part in this vile trade. As well as physical scarring caused by the voodoo ceremonies, the victims had been “psychologically kept under lock and key” by death threats made during the rituals, the judge said. Iyamu, who was made a British citizen in 2009 having been allowed to stay in the UK due to her nursing qualifications, is known to have declared a modest income of around £14,500 in 2016/17 from her work as an NHS agency nurse. But inquiries after Iyamu’s arrest in 2017 found she was able to afford to spend thousands on international air travel and to afford a large home in Benin City in Nigeria – complete with servants’ quarters. Opening the case at the start of the trial, prosecutor Simon Davis told jurors the complainants endured awful conditions while being trafficked on a route where sexual assaults, rape, kidnap and death were commonplace. Mr Davis said it was clear that Iyamu, know as “Madam Sandra”, had travelled extensively across Europe and into Africa on a regular basis to meet victims. Defence counsel John Benson QC told the court Iyamu – the daughter of a politician – had “lost everything” as a result of her conviction, including her hope of pursuing a political career in Nigeria. https://lailasnews.com/nigerian-female-politician-jailed-for-14-years-in-the-uk-for-human-trafficking/ lalasticlala

Wang suffered the fatal accident on Tuesday in the picturesque hillside village of Bonnieux after climbing onto a parapet, either to see the view of the valley below or to have his photograph taken, local security sources told AFP. “He jumped up on to the wall and was carried over it by his own momentum,” a source close to the case told AFP on condition of anonymity. The 57-year-old businessman, the co-founder of HNA and its second-highest ranking executive, fell into a 10-metre (32-foot) void, sustaining serious injuries that emergency services were unable to treat at the site. “Together, we mourn the loss of an exceptionally gifted leader and role model, whose vision and values will continue to be a beacon for all who had the good fortune to know him,” his firm said in a statement issued in China. HNA said Wang, whose personal fortune is estimated at 1.7 billion dollars by Forbes magazine, had been visiting Bonnieux during a business trip to France. The company started as a small provincial airline servicing China’s Hainan Province but has expanded quickly in recent years under the leadership of Wang and business partner Chen Feng. https://lailasnews.com/chinese-billionaire-falls-to-his-death-while-taking-selfie-in-france/ lalasticlala
